My Tamed Beast Returned with a Dragon Chapter 9 - Temporarily Taking Care of the Baby

Author: Asternkm

“What do you mean?”

Eunsae quickly waved both hands.

“I don’t mean anything weird by it. It’s just… the baby coming back is on my mind.”

“……”

“Since he’s a dragon baby, he’ll grow fast, right? If he feels safe here, I was thinking… maybe he could stay until he grows a little more.”

Eunsae fidgeted with her hands.

“I just feel like it would help him in many ways…”

Her brows furrowed. Even to herself, it sounded absurd.

It was just her selfish desire to see the baby a little longer.

“But if you don’t allow it, I understand…”

Belquior silently stared at the woman in front of him as she trailed off, her voice dripping with reluctance.

Pale skin, black hair tied in a single knot, eyes as deep and dark as obsidian.

She wasn’t tall, but her body was well-balanced, and surprisingly, her physical abilities were strong—for a human.

From the first moment he saw her, he knew she had no ulterior motives.

The house was filled with baby supplies, proof enough of that.

The monsters she raised were free-spirited, untroubled, and fiercely loyal to her.

That meant she was genuine and kind-hearted.

Monsters were naturally wary creatures. If Eunsae had even the slightest deception in her treatment of them, they would never have followed her so sincerely.

A rare human, untainted by scheming thoughts.

That was why Belquior was even engaging in this conversation.

And for him, this was already a great concession.

‘She’s asking me not to take my child?’

Belquior frowned. He was a dragon.

So was his child. A guardian of the World Tree, Yggdrasil.

They were supreme, complete beings.

Dragons, no matter how young, did not require care.

That was how it had been for him, his predecessors, and their predecessors before them.

‘Though… my child does seem different.’

He thought of his son. Unlike a typical dragon, the baby needed hands-on care.

The very fact that he had left his home to seek a caretaker was proof enough.

Other dragons would scoff at such a thing.

“Why do you want to protect my son?”

“Huh?”

“A human wouldn’t do this without reason. What are you after?”

Belquior’s pupils slit vertically, a subtle pressure radiating from him.

The monsters around them stood up, growling.

“Are you trying to tame a dragon for your own use?”

“What? No, nothing like that.”

Eunsae was taken aback. She hadn’t expected it to be interpreted that way.

Reflexively, she asked,

“What exactly can a dragon do?”

“Anything.”

His golden, reptilian eyes examined her closely.

“A human could obtain unimaginable wealth, even take over the world if they wished.”

“I don’t need any of that.”

Her answer was immediate.

So firm and unwavering that Belquior hesitated for a moment.

Eunsae spoke casually, as if it were no big deal.

“I already make enough money to live. I don’t have any ambition to conquer the world. I hate things that give me a headache.”

“…You never know. Once you have great power—”

“But it’s not even my power. The baby will return to his world eventually, right?”

She had a point.

If she ever tried to misuse the baby’s abilities, he could simply leave.

“Then why?”

“Because the baby…”

Eunsae bit her lip.

She had no idea how Belquior would react to what she was about to say.

In a voice so quiet it was almost lost, she whispered,

“…He’s so cute and lovable. But you seem so indifferent to him, and it’s heartbreaking.”

She lowered her head.

She fully expected a thunderous scolding in response.

“……”

But Belquior remained silent.

He was… confused.

‘That’s the reason?’

Because the baby was cute and lovable?

The comment about his indifference completely slipped from his mind.

“I don’t understand.”

“I figured you wouldn’t…”

“He’s not even your child, so why?”

“Anyone who sees a baby would feel the same.”

Belquior had no choice but to acknowledge the truth.

The woman before him was an easy target.

‘If she were thrown into the world, she’d be taken advantage of in an instant.’

Pressing his fingers to his furrowed brow, he sighed.

He had spent his life dealing with ruthless, ambitious humans.

Seeing someone like her was not just refreshing—it was outright frustrating.

“This is an unprecedented situation. A human raising a dragon…”

“Yes…”

“A baby dragon will become aware of its true nature soon. It won’t take long. Are you prepared for that?”

“Wait… does that mean—?”

Eunsae’s face lit up, her dark eyes sparkling with excitement.

For a moment, Belquior thought it was like looking at the stars.

“I’ll allow you to temporarily care for him. But I will come often to observe.”

“Thank you!”

Eunsae sprang up and bowed deeply.

She had been sure he would refuse, so the fact that he agreed filled her with joy.

Belquior, on the other hand, thought differently.

‘It’s only temporary.’

He, too, had been struggling with what to do about his son constantly leaving his home.

He could forcibly restrain the baby, but that wouldn’t solve the root issue.

Once the baby realized what it meant to be a dragon, he would naturally understand the difference between himself and humans.

Until then, Belquior would simply wait.

“Baby, let’s go for a walk.”
Eunsae hummed a tune as she dressed the baby. Today, she was finally going to use the stroller that had been collecting dust in the corner.

The stroller, a collection model from brand B, was a gift from Inchan. It supposedly had the smoothest ride, glided effortlessly with minimal effort, and had excellent maneuverability—whatever that meant.

Just in case, Eunsae made sure the baby was full with a generous serving of formula and packed all the necessary supplies, including diapers, in the under-seat basket.

She adjusted the handle so the baby could face her. When she carefully laid him down in the seat, he burst into a bright, happy laugh.

“Kyaa!”

“Aww, you’re happy because you’re going out with me, huh?”

Not far away, Belquior watched the scene unfold. He was dumbfounded.

His son, acting just like a human baby, was one thing. But the fact that Eunsae’s behavior hadn’t changed at all—even after learning the truth—was even stranger.

Eunsae, however, didn’t seem to mind Belquior’s presence. He was quiet and only spoke up when he needed something.

Sometimes, he disappeared without a word and reappeared just as suddenly. Eunsae had gotten used to it.

“Would you like to come with us, Father?”

“I’ll follow behind.”

Eunsae strolled through the neighborhood, chatting with the baby. Her monsters trailed after her.

When they reached the clearing where the monsters often lounged on sunny days, Eunsae plucked a flower and held it up for the baby to see.

His eyes sparkled with curiosity.

“What do you think this is~? It’s a flower. Isn’t it pretty?”

“Kyaa! Kyaa!”

The baby grabbed the flower and shook it excitedly. Just as he was about to put it in his mouth, Eunsae stopped him.

“No, no, you can’t eat that. It might make your tummy hurt.”

“Dragons don’t get sick from eating things like that.”

“Come on, Father. That doesn’t mean he should eat just anything.”

Belquior, who had grown up eating whatever he pleased, felt an unexpected surge of irritation. His gaze turned cold.

Oblivious to this, Eunsae spread out a mat under a large tree and gestured for him to sit. Then, she lifted the baby out of the stroller.

A breeze rustled the branches. Eunsae gently brushed back the baby’s tousled hair.

“Feels nice, doesn’t it?”

“Hwoong.”

“Now that I think about it, Father, the baby has curly hair, but yours is straight.”

The question came out of nowhere. Belquior glanced at the baby with disinterest.

“It’ll change when he grows.”

“Oh, really? Our baby takes after you, so I bet he’ll be really popular when he’s older.”

Eunsae lifted the baby high into the air. He squealed with delight.

‘Ridiculous.’

Belquior scoffed internally. Dragons were feared. What use was human admiration?

Eunsae spent a long time showing the baby his surroundings, then gently rocked him in her arms while humming a lullaby.

🎵 With long antlers, a round red nose, a lovely spotted coat—it’s Rudolph the Reindeer. 🎵

The monsters gathered around her, listening intently.

‘Like Clytia…’

Belquior found himself unexpectedly impressed.

Clytia—the nymph from mythology. A woman who commanded enormous, ferocious beasts and was beloved by the forest.

Perhaps it was simply due to her monster tamer abilities, but the sight was striking nonetheless.

Eunsae’s song continued.

🎵 Always waiting for you, dreaming beautiful dreams. 🎵

She pressed a kiss to the baby’s cheek, looking at him with deep affection.

🎵 As long as we’re together, even the night sky is joyful. 🎵

The baby looked more content than he ever did with Belquior.

His drowsy eyes remained fixed on Eunsae.

His tiny fingers gripped her clothes tightly, as if refusing to let go.

A strange feeling settled in Belquior’s chest.

What was this human’s affection?

What did the baby sense in her that made him cling to her so desperately?

🎵 A wonderful Rudolph whose nose glows with happiness. 🎵

The baby had fallen completely asleep.

Eunsae gently uncurled his little fingers from her clothes and smiled.

“Shall we head home now?”

Belquior gave a small nod.

Ranking Tournament – Round 1 Results
In the first round of the ranking tournament, Woori, Sol, Yuha, and I all advanced to the Round of 16.

When our teammates heard that the baby’s father had given permission for him to stay at my house, they celebrated along with me.

— What about the baby’s dad? Did he leave?

Woori asked.

“No, he comes and goes. Just yesterday, he was here, but today he disappeared again.”

— What? You’re living under the same roof as a strange man—no, a strange dragon?!

— Are you insane?! Yoo Eunsae, have you lost your mind?!

Sol’s outraged voice blasted through the speakerphone.

I tilted my head.

“It’s not really a problem. He’s so quiet that I barely even notice he’s here. He doesn’t threaten me or anything.”

— That’s even worse! You have no idea what’s going through his mind. No, this won’t do. I need to meet that dragon immediately.

“Sol, calm down. Isn’t your next match against Hunter Baek Chan min?”

He was the guild master of Gold Star, always getting in Dochun’s way.

— And you think that’s more important right now?!

“Of course, it’s more important.”

For once, I was firm.
