Correction Chapter 10
“Ha…”
Jungmin closed the book and slumped over his desk.
He was an omega. But just in case… if there were any signs of him becoming an alpha, he’d want to die. He figured it wouldn’t hurt to know this kind of information, just in case.
Why did Kim Joohwan tell him this? He knew Joohwan wasn’t being sincere when he said he wanted Jungmin to be an omega; he was just playing around.
Joohwan was a truly unreadable person. A frivolous individual with no sincerity whatsoever. The type Jungmin hated the most. And that probably wouldn’t ever change.
✽✽✽
It was the second semester of his third year. Jungmin still hadn’t presented. He’d been tested again, but his potential for presentation was still high, so he hadn’t even received a beta diagnosis. How much longer would he have to stew in this anxious wait? What if he didn’t present until he was in college?
Feeling suffocated, Jungmin got up to open the window. He wanted to stand on the terrace and enjoy the night breeze for a moment. Then he heard something unpleasant coming from below the garden wall.
“Honey… I love you.”
“Me too.”
Two beasts kissing passionately in the middle of the night, under the wall, practically on the street… If that were all, Jungmin wouldn’t have been shocked. But the fact that one of those beasts was his twin brother was undeniably shocking.
Feeling his strength drain, Jungmin closed the terrace door and gasped for breath.
Since presenting as an omega, Youngmin had been receiving a lot of attention and dating multiple alphas.
He wasn’t a particularly diligent student to begin with, but recently it had gotten worse. When Jungmin worriedly asked him about it, Youngmin always replied:
‘I’m going to marry a good alpha as soon as I graduate high school. So I don’t need to study, right?’
Jungmin was dumbfounded. He wondered if Youngmin was serious, and he was.
Recently, Youngmin had dated more than five alphas that Jungmin knew of. He wondered where Youngmin found so many precious alphas. Because of this, Shinwoo was becoming thinner and quieter.
Thinking about it suddenly made Jungmin’s blood boil.
He jumped up, went outside, and pulled apart the two beasts who were still kissing.
“Hey! Shin Youngmin! Are you out of your mind?”
“Eek!! Wh-what?”
The alpha beast yelled. Worried that the neighbors would hear and be startled, Jungmin quickly grabbed the alpha by the collar.
“Get lost, you bastard.”
“Hey, Shin Jungmin! What’s wrong with you?!”
“You be quiet! Mom and Dad are home!”
At Jungmin’s words, Youngmin shut his mouth. At least he was still afraid of their parents, which was a small relief. With Youngmin silent, the alpha fidgeted nervously before getting into his parked car and driving off.
Jungmin dragged Youngmin inside and shoved him into his room.
“Are you insane?”
“What?”
Youngmin plopped down on the bed and sighed deeply.
“Why did you interrupt? He was such a good alpha! Are you going to take responsibility if my love life gets ruined because of this?”
“Why would I be responsible? You have to take responsibility for your own actions. Don’t push it onto others. Anyway, that’s not what I want to talk about. You need to behave yourself.”
“We weren’t having sex under the wall, so what’s the big deal.”
“Crazy….”
Jungmin was so stunned he couldn’t speak. Youngmin, who had been listening quietly, giggled.
“Why? Are you embarrassed because I said ‘sex’? Our hyung is still a baby~”
“Stop talking nonsense. I’m dumbfounded. How old are you? You’re not even an adult yet! What if rumors spread? And what if you get pregnant?”
“Then I’ll get married and have the baby~ Is there a problem?”
“Don’t be so irresponsible!”
“I’m serious. I’m going to marry a superior alpha and give birth to an alpha with superior genes. That’s my dream, you know? And isn’t that the perfect success story for an omega living in this day and age? That’s why I have to be picky and choose the best alpha. Carefully.”
He wasn’t joking. Youngmin’s eyes were completely serious. Jungmin felt a sense of unfamiliarity looking at his brother. He didn’t know how his lovable brother had changed so much. No, had he always been like this?
“But I’ve tasted almost all the alphas in this neighborhood, and they’re not that great. Ahh… I didn’t want to touch Shinwoo hyung and Joohwan…”
Jungmin was about to tell him to stop before his disappointment in his brother and his perception of omegas changed completely. But he froze when he heard Youngmin muttering as he changed into his pajamas.
“What did you say?”
“What do you mean? I haven’t tasted Shinwoo hyung and Joohwan yet. Hehe.”
Jungmin shuddered. His brother, who was smiling cutely with his tongue sticking out, looked like a devil. More than anything, Jungmin was terrified that Youngmin was showing interest in Shinwoo hyung, whom he’d never cared about before.
Youngmin and Jungmin had completely different personalities, so different that it was hard to believe they were twins.
Jungmin was upright, sincere, diligent, and carved his own path. Youngmin, on the other hand, wanted to achieve his desires with minimal effort.
Jungmin didn’t have a clear dream, but he wanted to get a good job and work hard. Youngmin, since childhood, had only ever wanted to be an omega. He knew that if he married and gave birth to a precious alpha, his life would be set, and he could live comfortably forever.
The way they looked at each other was ultimately the same.
‘Frustration.’
Why are you living your life like that? That’s what they wanted to say to each other, but they cherished each other too much to inflict pain, so neither of them ever spoke those words. They were alike in that respect.
But now Youngmin was starting to show interest in Shinwoo. What if, for whatever trashy reason, he became interested in Shinwoo as an ‘alpha’? The worst possible scenario could unfold. More than anything, the situation could become extremely unfavorable for Jungmin himself….
At least Youngmin was currently preoccupied with campus life. Otherwise, he might have been here, listening to this conversation with Jungmin.
✽✽✽
“What’s with the atmosphere this morning…?”
Jungmin and Youngmin’s mother looked at her two children with worried eyes at the breakfast table. The twins, who usually sat close together, were eating far apart, as if demonstrating a cold war. Normally, they’d chatter so much it was hard to tell if they were eating or inhaling their food, but today they were so quiet you could hear a pin drop. The awkward atmosphere made even their parents uncomfortable.
“I’m done.”
Youngmin put down his spoon with a clang and left the table first. Usually, one would wait for the other to finish eating, but not today.
The one who finished first left, and Jungmin leisurely ate his last bite, quietly put down his spoon, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and then stood up.
“Jungmin… did you fight with Youngmin?”
Knowing Youngmin had become somewhat sensitive since presenting as an omega, their parents asked Jungmin about the situation. Jungmin shook his head.
“We had a little argument, but it’s nothing serious. Don’t worry too much.”
“Still…. You should try to comfort Youngmin. He’s sensitive. As his older brother, please take care of him.”
“I’m leaving.”
Jungmin knew he should reassure his worried parents, but his own mind was in turmoil, so he gave a half-hearted reply and left the house. He didn’t see Youngmin. He must have already left in the car.
‘He’s so petty.’
Jungmin sighed and headed for the bus stop. Last night, after Youngmin declared his intention to flirt with Shinwoo and Joohwan, Jungmin had scolded him. Their voices had risen, and finally, Jungmin had called Youngmin a whore. Youngmin had flown into a rage and hit him. Knowing he’d spoken out of turn, Jungmin had just taken the beating. Fortunately, Youngmin’s punches were weak, so there were no visible marks.
“Ouch…”
Except for his cheek, which was stinging and slightly red.
“Ha…”
He’d apologize to Youngmin later…
Jungmin leaned his head against the bus stop sign and sighed. He was trying to organize his thoughts for the day, but he couldn’t figure out what to do. His mind was like a tangled ball of yarn. If Youngmin asked Shinwoo out, Shinwoo would undoubtedly accept in a heartbeat. Shinwoo had finally started to act indifferent towards Youngmin recently… The thought of him wavering again made Jungmin’s stomach churn and his heart ache.
Damn it… when will this awakening happen?
“Ha…”
“Why are you sighing so much, young man?”
A voice that cleared his stuffy mind. A voice of salvation. Jungmin looked up and, sure enough, Shinwoo was smiling and stroking his hair.
“Shinwoo hyung. What are you doing here?”
“What are you doing at the bus stop? Where’s your car?”
“Ah.”
When Jungmin didn’t answer, Shinwoo smiled and sat down next to him. Jungmin had thought it would be a terrible day, but it seemed he was wrong. He never thought he’d see Shinwoo like this. Feeling his downturned lips curve upwards, Jungmin coughed softly.
