Correction Chapter 17
A week passed like that. Youngmin, too, had shut himself in his room and hadn’t come out for the entire week. Jungmin knocked several times, but there was no response.
Oddly enough, this behavior made Jungmin think that Youngmin had truly loved Shinwoo. He had once called Youngmin pathetic for dating and sleeping with people so casually. He hadn’t believed Youngmin when he said he loved Shinwoo.
He had thought Youngmin was just using him for his own purposes. That’s why it hurt and upset him even more.
No matter how much Youngmin was his younger brother, Youngmin paled in comparison to Shinwoo. Of course, that was Jungmin’s personal bias, but still….
“Youngmin, come to my room when you feel better. Let’s talk.”
If Youngmin truly loved Shinwoo, he would be suffering just as much. For now, Jungmin decided to put his own feelings aside and comfort Youngmin. It was his duty as an older brother.
That night, Youngmin visited Jungmin’s room, carrying a pile of magazines. Jungmin had expected his eyes to be swollen from crying, but they were surprisingly normal, and his expression was bright. Jungmin felt a sense of unease and stared at Youngmin.
Youngmin spread the magazines he brought across Jungmin’s room, describing each person featured in them.
As he listened, Jungmin felt a growing sense of dissonance and grabbed Youngmin’s arm.
“What are you doing?”
“What am I doing? I’m looking for my next husband, of course. Isn’t this guy handsome? He’s a dominant alpha!”
“Shin Youngmin.”
“This guy is mixed race. I prefer this type.”
“Shin Youngmin!”
Jungmin yelled and snatched the magazines from Youngmin’s hands.
“What the hell are you doing? Are you sick? Are you out of your mind?!”
“What?”
Youngmin looked at Jungmin with an indifferent expression. There was no trace of sadness or pain on his face.
“‘What?’ Are you really breaking up with Shinwoo hyung?”
“Of course. How can I have a baby with a seedless watermelon?”
Jungmin swayed slightly, feeling dizzy. Oh my god.
“Didn’t you… love Shinwoo hyung?”
“I do love him. But he has azoospermia.”
“Can’t love overcome azoospermia?”
“Azoospermia is more important than love to me.”
“Youngmin! What about Shinwoo hyung! You know how much he loves you!”
“Ah, that’s Shinwoo hyung’s problem, not mine! It’s not mine!! Damn it, even if he’s a total loser, as long as he doesn’t have azoospermia, I can say I love him!!”
Youngmin’s voice echoed loudly. Jungmin felt his heart stop. Not only was Youngmin’s statement shocking, but Shinwoo was standing behind the door, having arrived unnoticed.
Jungmin instinctively straightened up, facing Shinwoo. Seeing Jungmin rise as if possessed, Youngmin glanced back. He saw Shinwoo, of course, but made a face as if he’d seen something he shouldn’t have and then focused on the magazines again.
Shinwoo let go of the doorknob. Seeing him disappear, Jungmin ran out. He noticed something kicked in front of the door and picked it up.
A small ring box… containing a pair of rings.
Their engagement rings.
Jungmin clutched it tightly and ran after Shinwoo. It was pouring heavily outside.
Seeing him run out without an umbrella, Jungmin also rushed out bareheaded, calling after Shinwoo.
“Hyung, hyung, it’s raining. It’s raining. Hyung! Shinwoo hyung! You’ll catch a cold! Let’s get an umbrella. Okay? Hyung! Shinwoo hyung!!”
As if he couldn’t hear Jungmin’s voice, he just kept running. The more he ran, the louder Jungmin yelled, until his throat was raw.
“It’s not your fault! It’s not your fault! Shinwoo hyung! Shinwoo hyung!! Can you hear me? Please say something!! Hyung!!”
Why did this distance, which seemed so close he could almost reach him, feel so far?
“Hyung… it’s okay. Hyung… Shinwoo hyung, it’ll be okay. Hyung….”
The rain poured so hard he could barely see. Like Shinwoo’s tears. Like when he himself had cried when Youngmin and Shinwoo became lovers….
Jungmin grew increasingly breathless. His body… suddenly felt so heavy. He suddenly remembered the pills Kim Joohwan had forced him to take. Come to think of it, it was almost time.
He felt dizzy, and his body started to heat up. But he couldn’t leave Shinwoo like this, so he forced himself to follow, finally stopping at a crosswalk, gasping for breath. A car honked as it approached, and someone pulled Jungmin’s arm.
With a splash, water sprayed all over him, and they both tumbled to the ground. Jungmin coughed a couple of times and looked at the person holding him. It was Shinwoo.
He was covered in muddy water. Yoo Shinwoo was such a handsome man…. A man who shone so brightly….
“What is this… why do you look like this, hyung… Our Shinwoo hyung, you’re such a wonderful person. Truly wonderful.”
Jungmin pulled at his wet clothes and wiped Shinwoo’s face. As Jungmin started to cry, Shinwoo stroked his hair.
“I’m okay, hyung. Go inside quickly. What if you catch a cold?”
“How can you be okay?”
“Jungmin.”
“…Why are you so weak? You’re a strong person. Over something like this… you’ll experience so much love in the future….”
“Who would love me? I’m just an alpha in name only. An alpha with azoospermia… even I think… it’s ridiculous… I understand why Youngmin doesn’t want me.”
Shinwoo’s voice trembled again. Jungmin hugged him. Just a while ago, this was the man who had smiled radiantly, as if he held all the happiness in the world. But now, he looked like he had been cast into hell. What should he do? How could he save this man? What could he do? Jungmin was anxious. Afraid that Shinwoo would slip away.
“What does it matter if you have azoospermia? Any omega would be lucky to have an alpha like you.”
“Do you think there’s an omega who would think that way?”
“There is. Me.”
At Jungmin’s words, Shinwoo stopped trembling. Jungmin hugged him even tighter.
“If I present as an omega, I’ll marry you, hyung. I will marry you. I don’t need children. I only need you.”
Jungmin released Shinwoo, took out the ring box he had picked up, and put the ring that was clearly Youngmin’s on his own finger. Damn it, even though they had different builds, being twins, their finger sizes were the same.
“Wow, it fits perfectly. Like it was made for me.”
What did it matter who wore it first? He was the one wearing it now.
“Jungmin….”
The remaining ring. Jungmin slid Shinwoo’s ring onto his finger.
“You’re engaged to me now, hyung. It’s a promise. You can’t back out. I’m going to marry you. You know how great I am, right? So straighten your shoulders! You’re an amazing alpha!!”
Jungmin smiled. Shinwoo then hugged Jungmin tightly. He didn’t say anything, but he cried for a long time. That alone was enough for Jungmin.
He vowed over and over that he would make this man happy. So please, God-.
That night, Jungmin’s presentation fever began.
The thunder, lightning, and rain showed no signs of stopping. The sky roared relentlessly, pouring down rain as if it was grieving. As if it wanted to devour the world.
Hearing the sound, Jungmin clutched his blanket.
The lethargy and warmth that had started in the evening… had finally transformed into pain, and a high fever began to rage through his body. Jungmin knew exactly what these symptoms meant.
His presentation had finally begun. Jungmin smiled. He just had to endure this time. Thinking so, Jungmin sent a message to Shinwoo.
『Hyung, my presentation fever has finally started. It feels like destiny. No, it is destiny. I think I was born to be your omega.』
Soon, the ‘1’ indicating an unread message disappeared.
『Does it hurt a lot?』
Shinwoo’s tenderness almost brought him to tears. Jungmin looked at the ring on his finger and kissed it.
『No, it doesn’t hurt. I’m actually really happy. Presentation finally… hyung, you have no idea how long I’ve waited for this.』
『Jungmin.』
『Yes, Shinwoo hyung.』
『Whether you present as an omega or an alpha, I just want you to be happy.』
『Haha, then it’s omega! I’ll be really happy if I become an omega. That’s when it all begins, Shinwoo hyung. Wait for me. I’m going to come after you relentlessly.』
『Stay strong.』
Hearing Shinwoo’s encouragement, he missed him so much. Jungmin found a picture of Shinwoo in his phone’s gallery and stared at it for a long time, caressing the screen. A tear slipped down his cheek.
“Hyung… Shinwoo hyung… wait… wait for me….”
I’ll overcome this. I’ll overcome this for you, hyung. Because I’ll become your omega. Wait for me.
Jungmin kissed the ring on his finger again. Waiting for the dark clouds outside to clear and for the bright light of the future to arrive….
