Raios and me? Dana’s head went blank. No thoughts flowed. It felt like the back of her head was splitting open. And something started to seep in.

“You’re saying no?”

Memories seep through the cracks.

“Am I really your sibling?”

Ah. Dana clenched her eyes shut.

“You’re abandoning me just because of that?”

No, I don’t want this now.

Dana knew exactly what this was. It was the third eye. Her third eye was opening on its own again.

Whenever Dana saw through the third eye, she always felt drained. Sometimes, she even fainted. So, it shouldn’t happen now. Not now, when the sun would rise soon, and she had to open the dimensional gate…

But Dana couldn’t stop it. It was like a natural disaster, like a tidal wave or storm; when it came, all she could do was endure.

Dana gasped for breath and hurriedly reached into her pocket, clutching the holy relic. She clutched the holy relic. She tried to open the gate right then and there, but it was insufficient. It wasn’t time to open the dimensional gate yet.

Then, at least, please let me not faint. Since the dawn is slowly breaking. Just that much hope, please.

As if responding, a faint power flowed from the relic in her grip. And at that moment, bang! The world shattered along with the sound as her third eye opened. Memories poured in as if they had been waiting.

“You said you loved me.”

It was Raios. He was staring at her. The bangs covering his forehead, and his black hair sways near his eyebrows.

“How could you do this?”

His black eyes were like burning hellfire.

“How could you try to leave me again?”

At that moment, memories of that time flooded in. The emotions and feelings were so sharp that they sent a chill down her spine.

Dana was afraid of the man in front of her. Terrified. Maybe that’s why she was crying. Ah, no. It’s not because she was scared that she was crying.

“Are you insane?”

It was because Raios had killed someone.

“How could you do such a thing!”

He was someone trying to help Dana. The man’s name was unknown. He was just a man who occasionally brought her meals while she was imprisoned.

Dana had appealed to him with tears. Please, get me out of here. Please, free me from Raios. Finally, he was persuaded by her, and Dana was about to escape. But in the end, they were discovered.

Dana grabbed the man’s corpse, tears streaming down her face.

“How could you do this!”

The day Dana was imprisoned was one day before her wedding to Rumie. Raios had kidnapped her and locked her away in a deep forest villa, unknown to anyone. Since then, it was all coercion.

In front of him, Dana had cried out for a long time.

“You’re insane! You’re really insane!”

“I’m not insane.”

Raios, with a cigar in his mouth, lit it and responded indifferently.

“I’m in love.”

And then he exhaled the smoke…

A chill ran down her spine at the breath that carried not a hint of guilt. No, it was nauseating.

“Come to your senses! I’m your older sister! We’re siblings!”

Dana screamed as if cursing. She had once loved him, but that was when she knew nothing. And then, the late Emperor Wilhelm told her that they were half-siblings. As soon as Dana learned the truth, her love ended. She could no longer love Raios romantically. But Raios couldn’t accept it.

“Come to your senses, Dana.”

Raios calmly tilted his head. He was unbelievably calm amidst the chaos he had caused.

“You love me.”

“Raios!”

“You’re just deceiving yourself because you’re worried about what people will think. You still love me.”

“No! That’s not true!”

“It’s just the two of us here, Dana. So be honest with yourself.”

“You’re insane.”

Dana glared at him, her voice trembling as she spat out her words.

“You’re insane, Raios. You’re completely insane.”

With that, Dana picked up a pistol from the waistband of the dead man. She aimed it at Raios. The barrel of the gun trembled.

“Going to shoot?”

Raios, who had been staring blankly, tapped his head.

“Shoot here then, Dana.”

And then he smiled gently.

“Hurry up. What are you waiting for?”

Insane. She clenched her teeth. Dana wanted to punish Raios. But at that moment, Raios seemed all too willing to accept death. It seemed he even wanted to die by her hand. Then, what about this? Dana aimed the gun at her own chin.

“What are you doing?”

His voice dropped low and took on a threatening tone. Raios dropped his cigar to the ground.

“Dana, stop.”

Ah, he’s finally scared. Dana was satisfied then. Only when Raios’s face finally crumbled.

“Dana, put that down now. Quickly!”

It was the first time she saw Raios so scared.

“I don’t want to.”

With those words, Dana pulled the gun closer. Raios’s face turned deathly pale. His facial muscles twitched as if he were in shock.

That violent impulse surged through her. Should I really just kill myself? Should I show him that, to punish him? To make him pay for imprisoning me and forcing his will on me?

“Look.”

As if he couldn’t bear even that brief conflict, Raios drew his pistol. He hurriedly aimed it at his own head.

“Dana. Look. Look at me, quickly!”

He uttered in a trembling, anxious voice, with the gun pointed at his head.

“See? I’ll die. So put the gun down. Quickly. Please!”

“Then die…”

Dana whispered without lowering the gun.

“Hurry up and die.”

Whether that was sincere or not, she couldn’t tell. She was just so angry that she wanted to kill him.

“Dana.”

Raios pressed the gun against his temple, his lips quivering.

“I told you I’m your nightmare.”

Dana’s heart raced. She was scared and excited about what was going to happen next. Is he going to do it for real? No. No way. But still. He doing it for real?

“Not bad. After all, your nightmare is still a part of you.”

Raios laughed strangely.

“This way, you’ll remember me forever.”

Bang! The sound of a gunshot tore through the air. Raios’s head burst open. Blood sprayed like a fountain. Staggering, he fell to the ground, instantly becoming a corpse…

At that moment, Dana’s eyes snapped open, and she fell forward. The cold air of the dawn forest rushed in. “Ugh!” She felt nauseated. Her stomach churned. “Uugh, ugh!”

Gasping for air, Dana thought. What was that memory? What was it? But, she knew what it was. Was it because of the power of the relic? She had seen it so clearly, knew it so clearly.

The scene she had just seen through the third eye. The time when she was imprisoned by Raios before her marriage to Rumie. And the moment when she urged Raios to commit suicide. That wasn’t something that would happen in the future. It had already happened in the past. But it wasn’t something she had experienced. No. It was something she had experienced. So… It’s not happening now.

Dana clenched her eyes shut. In her dizzy head, a more distinct realization flickered than ever before. Something that happened previously. Not now, but previously. But now, that event had disappeared, as if the time had been wound back.

Dana shivered from the shock that hit her like lightning. How could something like that be possible? She tried her best to stay calm, and soon the answer came.

It wasn’t impossible. This was a world with holy relics. A world where gods exist and miracles happen. So, perhaps rewinding time could be possible.

At that moment, Dana finally understood. The third eye wasn’t a power to see the future. She had never seen the future even once. The scenes she had seen through her third eye were all from the past. Past of the time she is living now, or the time that has been wound back and disappeared. She had seen fragments from that time. And in that time, Raios had committed suicide…

“Did you see?”

Startled, Dana looked up. And she almost screamed. How? When? Why?

It was Raios. Raios was sitting opposite her, beneath a cut tree, as if he had been watching her for a long time.

“Why are you here?”

Aah, it seems someone sent a letter that shouldn’t have been sent.” Raios tilted his head. He laughed at the blood letter that fell in front of her. “I barely caught up trying to prevent you from seeing it…” It was a laugh of defeat. The emptiness of failure.

“Did you see?” He asked again. His eyes were like an abyss. Dark and deep, like a pit…

“What do you mean?” She managed to ask calmly.

At that, Raios curled his lips. “That piece of blood paper wasn’t just a trivial thing.”

“…”

“You know.”

A coldness seemed to spread from the tip of her heart. Reality completely faded away.

“You were mumbling something just now.”

“…”

“About us being siblings.” He clasped his hands tightly together. “Like I’m your younger brother, so stop it.” As if holding back something with all his might, thick veins bulged on the back of his hands.

“Do you remember?”

Dana’s lips trembled. She shivered with shock. Her spine tingled.

Raios also knew. He remembered everything about the time that had disappeared, including his suicide. When did he know?

“Disgusting.”

But it didn’t matter. It was better this way. There was no need to bear the shock and revulsion alone.

Dana spat out viciously. “Raios Geranze. You’re really a disgusting person.”

Raios then tilted his head slightly. “Am I the disgusting one?” He asked in a voice as if it could be extinguished at any moment. Then he whispered. “I find you more disgusting for changing your heart for such a reason.”

“…”

“For such light emotions, you swore love to me. Your tongue is disgusting, Dana.”

It’s horrifying. Dana’s teeth chattered. She felt a wave of chills. How could I have ever loved such a terrifying thing? Something so dark, so snake-like, so demonic?

“Now you should call me sister…” Dana said with a trembling voice. “Don’t act pathetically. What you’ve done is no different from a child throwing a tantrum.”

How could this happen? She didn’t understand. Why was time wound back, and how did Raios remember everything? It was still unknowable. But one thing was clear.

“Raios Geranze. I truly find you horrible.”

Raios was insane. And now Dana hated him.

Then Raios laughed. It was a response Dana had hoped would wound him, but surprisingly, he looked quite relieved. A sinister sensation crept up her neck.

“That’s good.”

“…”

“Not bad. It means there’s no further down to fall.”

It sounded more like a soliloquy than a conversation.

“Anyway, I’m just a nightmare to you, right?” As Raios said that, he raised his hand. His long fingers combed through his hair, gently brushing his bangs as if sifting through them. Then, his meticulously raised hair fell naturally across his forehead. The black hair that naturally spilled over his forehead. The fringes parted to reveal Raios’s eyes softening. “Remember?”

What?

“You said I looked cute with my bangs down. You teased me for looking younger…”

When did I? Was he talking about the vanished time? Dana had no such memories. But it seemed Raios remembered everything.

“I really hated it.”

Raios really did look younger. Just letting his bangs down made him appear much softer than moments before. Then Dana realized. Everything about Raios’s speech, expressions, gestures, and appearance was a camouflage to appear older.

“But now, it doesn’t matter anymore.” Raios stood up, looking far too pleased, with a clear, bright smile. “Should I call you sister? Good. Let’s do that. Sister Dana, Sis Dana, Big Sis Dana.” He then approached. “Choose. What do you like?”

Dana knew what would happen next. Raios would imprison and force her. She knew the depths of Raios’s depravity. Having fallen to the very bottom, he was no longer a human, but a beast…

No, it can’t end like this.

Dana slowly lifted her gaze. Above Raios’s head, the dark purple sky hung heavily. The sky had brightened ever so slightly from moments before. It meant dawn was slowly breaking.
