The priests snickered among themselves as they mocked her. Their faces were flushed with the vile satisfaction of humiliating Rumie’s younger sister.

What refined priests you all are. Suppressing her anger, Dana replied, “I can do it.”

Ah, really? Well then.” Exchanging malicious glances, they held out a small piece of white cloth to her. “Would you mind trying this on?”

Dana picked up the scrap of fabric and unfolded it. Surprisingly… it was clothing. It was so small that at first she had thought it was some kind of scarf.

“It is similar to the ceremonial robe worn by the maiden during the Spring Water Ritual.”

“Try it on first, then decide.”

“The actual ceremonial robe exposes even more than this. If you can’t even wear something like this, that would be rather troublesome.”

Dana sighed and rubbed her forehead. The steadily setting sun was making her anxious. She needed to finish this and get back quickly, but these b*stards just wouldn’t—

“You b*stards sure love to ramble.”

So all I have to do is put this on, right?

“…”

Silence fell. The priests simply stared blankly at her. Seeing their dumbfounded expressions, Dana let out an awkward chuckle. She had accidentally spoken her thoughts out loud.

“Enough chatting. Show me to the changing room, priests.”

It’s just putting on a piece of clothing. Why are they making such a fuss?

* * *

There wasn’t actually a changing room. What is this? They’re making me change in what looks like an emergency stairwell? Still, Dana dutifully took off her dress by herself before squeezing into the garment they had given her.

Huff, huff.”

Why is this thing so small?! The outfit was so tight that by the time she had finally forced herself into it, she was breathing heavily. This is the first time I’ve seen clothes this skin-tight in this world. She had always worn the elegant dresses of a noble lady. The plain white garment, devoid of any decorations, clung tightly to every curve of her body, while half of her breasts were left exposed.

Frowning, Dana looked down. This part of her body was already on the larger side, but with this tight outfit, it looked even fuller than usual. This looks excessively provocative. If it looked this revealing even to her own eyes, it would probably look even worse to everyone else.

She let out a sigh and reached for the doorknob. Clack! The sound of a door opening echoed from higher up the stairwell. Someone must have come in through the emergency exit upstairs. Thinking nothing of it, she was about to step outside when—

“I missed you so much…”

“…”

Dana froze.

Did I… hear that wrong? She thought she had recognized a woman’s voice.

“Hug me, hurry.”

But she hadn’t misheard it. A faint shock ran down Dana’s spine. It was a familiar voice. A woman she knew all too well.

“Hurry. It’s okay. It’s my safe day…”

But there was no way that woman would ever say something like that!

Startled, Dana jerked her head upward toward the stairs. The moment she did, she instinctively clapped a hand over her mouth to suppress a scream. No way.

A man and woman were locked together in a passionate kiss. The man had his robe pulled low enough to hide even a single strand of hair…

Ah, I like it, I like it so much.”

But the woman’s face was perfectly visible. A face Dana knew all too well. It was her. The very woman she knew. A woman who absolutely shouldn’t have been doing something like this here…!

“Ingria!” The shout escaped before she could stop herself.

The entwined couple jumped apart in shock. Their faces became even clearer. It really was her. Rumie’s wife.

“Ingria, what are you doing now!”

Ingria looked around frantically before finally locking eyes with Dana below the stairs. “Da-Danaena?”

“Who is that man?” Gripping the handrail, Dana demanded sharply.

The man hurriedly adjusted his clothes while pulling his hood down even farther.

Could it be… Rumie? Maybe he just has strange tastes and likes doing it in stairwells?

Clinging desperately to that final hope, Dana called out, “Is that Brother Rumie?!” But she realized immediately that it wasn’t. Even beneath the robe, his build was noticeably smaller than Rumie’s.

“Da-Danaena! It’s a misunderstanding!”

“Who is that man, Ingria!” Her fury exploded. With her mind completely blank, Dana couldn’t think straight anymore. “How could you!” She immediately rushed up the stairs. “How could you!”

How could you leave Rumie behind and cheat with another man!

“How could you leave my brother behind—!”

But at that very moment, someone grabbed her wrist from behind. Her body spun around violently.

“Need some help getting dressed?”

It was the same priest who had mocked her earlier.

“Who exactly were you having a conversation with?”

“Let go!” Dana tried to yank her arm free, but his grip didn’t budge.

Haha, where do you think you’re going?”

“Let go! I said let go!”

She had to catch them immediately. But the priest leisurely looked her up and down from head to toe, then slowly licked his lips.

“You’re much more attractive than when you were wearing that boring dress.”

Panting in irritation, Dana looked up. They had escaped. Damn it. She had lost Ingria…

“You don’t look anything like your brother, so I didn’t think you’d interest me much.”

Swallowing her rage, Dana glared at the man. The priest couldn’t take his eyes off her body, especially her breasts.

“If all the noble ladies of the empire are like you, I might just have to visit someday.”

Click. The priest reached behind himself and locked the door. His intentions couldn’t have been more obvious. But Dana wasn’t surprised. She had considered this possibility already.

“If you’re going to resent someone, resent your brother, Rumie.”

She had heard countless times that every one of these people were barbarians. And Dana was the younger sister of Rumie Rolland, the man whom the barbarians hated.

“My younger sister, my mother, my aunt, my great-aunt all died by Rumie’s hand. Well, the women in my family were all incredible pirates.” Yet the priest’s voice burned not with hatred, but with filthy desire. “Don’t worry. I’m merciful. I won’t kill you. Though what comes next might make you wish I had… Hey, are you even listening?”

She wasn’t.

I should’ve caught Ingria in the act. I should’ve ripped every strand of her hair and found out who that man was.

“Are you looking down on me?”

…First, I need to get out of here.

Dana absentmindedly touched her earlobe. Just as I thought. When Viego healed my body, he couldn’t remove this.

The black earring. The black core of condensed corruption still hung from her ear. Perhaps he had left it alone because tampering with it might spread corruption.

“Right. If you weren’t looking down on me, you wouldn’t have dared show yourself before me! Rumie’s younger sister actually dares stand before me!”

As the man approached her, Dana silently weighed her options. Should she shatter the black core and infect him with corruption? Or…

With something like a sigh, Dana murmured, “Demian.”

The next instant, a deafening screech of tearing metal echoed through the stairwell. A hand burst straight through the door, seized the priest by the hair, and yanked violently.

Keugh!”

Crash! The priest was dragged backward and slammed hard against the door.

Dana spoke indifferently. “Don’t kill him.”

As expected, this option was much more cost-effective.
