I’m Trying to End This Possession Chapter 91
* * *
It was that deep night.
I wonder if it’s really okay. Allice pressed down firmly on her wig as she walked through the mansion’s hallway. Currently, she was on her way back from the monastery. It was to keep her promise to Miona.
What was so special about it that made her that happy? She had brought what Miona had requested last time. Miona had been overjoyed by that. It even made Allice feel as if her maid were a completely different person.
“Can Milady bring me a new one every week?”
Miona even made such a proposal.
“Life in the monastery is harder than I thought. But I think I can endure it if I have Lord Carl’s clothes.”
And so, Allice had agreed to bring her father’s clothes once a week, which still warm with his body heat.
Should I distance myself from her?
Her opinion of Miona had changed a little. For starters, the fact that Miona couldn’t even adjust to life at the monastery meant she was lacking in proper conduct. And on top of that, Miona had lewd desires, which were directed at another woman’s man, no less!
There are really a lot of strange people in the world.
Step, step. Her pace slowed down. Even when she tried to think about something else, her thoughts always circled back to the same subject.
But why hasn’t His Highness come looking for me? Miona had said that no one from the imperial palace had visited during that time. Raios wasn’t looking for Allice. Surely he must miss me. Then why?
It was when Allice wandered secretly through the mansion, troubled by her thoughts. Huh? She stopped. Because there was Dana. Dana was walking down the hallway. Holding her breath, Allice followed her. Where is she going at this late hour? Could she be heading into Brother Viego’s bedroom again?
Gasp. But the next moment, Allice was shocked. The room Dana entered was… Why is Sister going to Lord Ignis’s bedroom? It was obvious. What could a man and woman possibly do together in a bedroom at this hour of night! My goodness! How could she? First Brother Viego, and now Lord Ignis! It was shocking.
Did His Highness know that Sister is such a kind of woman? And she goes around letting people call her a saintess! She has a fiancé, yet she’s fooling around with another man. It was she who truly deserved to reflect on her actions at the monastery!
Allice made up her mind. I must tell His Highness. She would tell him everything, including what happened with Viego. After all, Dana was the crown prince’s fiancée. Doing something like that was no different from cheating.
Deceiving people is wrong, Sister.

“I’m here.”
When Ignis opened the door, there stood Dana.
“I’ll come in.” Dana brushed past his chest and walked into the room.
At that moment, Ignis immediately realized it. That Dana knew. She had come here tonight knowing what was going to happen in this room.
“Here… I brought wine.”
What kind of expression have I been making? She lifted the wine bottle with a slightly nervous look.
“Let’s drink together.”
Ah, of course, she would be nervous. Ignis understood Dana. He himself was perfectly at ease, but his partner was a much younger, inexperienced girl who might need the help of alcohol.
“Sit over there.”
He brought over two wine glasses and sat down on the sofa. As he poured the wine, the girl watching him from beside him spoke cautiously.
“Lord Ignis? Are you okay?”
“Huh? Why?”
“Um, aren’t you pouring too much?”
Ah. Ignis belatedly noticed. The wine glass was already filled to the brim, almost to the point of overflowing. Huh? Am I nervous right now? That was true. He was unusually nervous.
“You didn’t know? The best way to drink wine is to fill the glass to the brim and down it in one go.” He had blurted out a load of nonsense without thinking, but fortunately, Dana just smiled brightly.
“Really? I didn’t know that.”
She actually believes that? So naive.
Ignis tried to think about why he was so nervous. The answer came quickly. It seemed to be because of his conscience. To think I actually have a conscience.
While waiting for Dana in the room, Ignis kept thinking of one scene. It was the day of the carriage accident. To be exact, the moment when bullets poured like torrential rain. With the sound of gunfire tearing through the air, Dana approached gracefully as if walking on water. If she had been hit by a stray bullet, she could have died. And yet Dana approached without hesitation to save him, protect him, and keep him safe. She’s not even a soldier, just an ordinary noble lady. Thinking about it made him sigh.
In truth, it had all been a lie. The carriage ambush had been staged, orchestrated by the faction he belonged to. Ignis had already known about the scenario and had prepared for it. They would attack the carriage and put Danae Windsor in danger. Then, he would throw himself to save her. Thus, he would gain her trust and win her heart. In the end, he would gain complete control of Danae Windsor’s vault.
Of course, an unexpected faction had also joined in and attacked the carriage for real… It must have been the people of the crown prince or perhaps Viego Windsor.
Ignis had deliberately pushed the suspicion toward Viego, making him the prime suspect. He wanted her to become suspicious of Windsor, her own family. So that Dana would leave Windsor and come to him. Then she would hand over the vault where that enormous fortune lay sleeping.
But how can this be so easy? It was so easy that his conscience was beginning to prick him. I deliberately put you in danger, yet you tried to save me from that very danger. What am I supposed to do with this foolishly kind girl?
“I want to hear about Lord Ignis.”
But is it really okay for me to do this with her?
“What were you like when you were young, Lord Ignis?”
Am I corrupting her?
“Tell me about your time at the military academy. Were you a troublemaker even then?”
It felt like standing before a pristine field covered in the first snow, so dazzlingly white and pure. And it felt like he was about to taint it. With his dirty boots, he was about to trample on that clear and clean thing.
“I was a model student back then. I even broke the shooting record that Brother Carl left at the academy.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. What’s with that disbelieving look?” He pinched Dana’s nose.
“It hurts.”
Dana furrowed her brows in displeasure, and he found it cute. No, more than cute… It made him imagine other expressions she might make. For instance, the expression on her face in bed.
So that old geezer, your grandfather, started taking an interest in me. After all, I’d beaten the record set by his most beloved son.”
“Ah, I’ve heard that story before.”
“So I must have looked useful to him. Your grandfather was obsessed with collecting talented people. What a rotten habit, collecting people like that…”
It was strange. Why was he spilling his innermost thoughts so freely, things he would never utter to anyone else? Perhaps it was because the person sitting before him was entirely harmless.
For the first time in his life, Ignis hesitated to sleep with a woman. Taking her and running away is one thing… Yeah, it would be better to save sleeping together for later. What could he possibly do with such a young girl? Once she grew up a bit more…
But then, snap. The front seam of his trousers burst open.
“…”
Ignis calmly looked down at the torn fabric. They say reason and desire are separate entities, but never had the gap between them felt so heavy. Truthfully, he was reaching his limit. The distinct scent of Dana’s body filled the air, provoking him intensely. Besides, he was never the type to endure.
“Danae.”
“Yes.”
“Shall we?”
“Pardon?”
“Over there.” Ignis flicked his head, his chin pointing toward the bed.
“I… would like to talk a bit more.”
Was I too hasty? Granted, going straight to the point might be overwhelming for her. It would probably be better to let things cool down a bit. And above all…
“Talking is great. I like talking.”
“…”
“But as you can see, I’m a bit pressed for time.”
“W-What?”
“I’ll take care of my own issue, so we can talk while I do, right?”
More than anything, Ignis was curious. He wondered if she really knew that he was such a vulgar b*stard. That’s why he wanted to test her.
“Talking is great too. Come on, say something…”
Dana’s face flushed bright red. Even so, she managed to stutter out a response, deliberately trying not to look downward.
Ignis leaned comfortably back against the sofa, gazing at her lazily as he focused on his business. Occasionally, he seemed to answer Dana’s question. With his free hand, he even took sips of wine. Past a certain point, his breathing grew heavy, and he could barely remember details.
The moment his vision flashed white, Ignis closed his eyes tightly and tilted his head back. Through the tingling sensation in his mind, he barely managed to think. This must be quite a shocking sight for her. But it can’t be helped. This is the kind of guy I am. Will she still like me even after this? Will she still want to run away with me?
Since he had saved Dan in that fake carriage accident, she might just be enchanted by the fantasy of the man who saved her. If her feelings were that shallow, this would shatter them completely. After all, he had displayed what a low-life sc*m he was. But if she still looked at him with eyes full of affection like now, it felt like something would finally begin to stir within him as well. Something he had never experienced before.
