I jumped up from my seat when I saw the handwriting inside the guidebook I had opened.

‘Were you surprised because your memory wasn’t erased?’

How did it know?

I glanced around, scanning my surroundings, but there was no one there.

I looked back down at the guidebook.

‘I wanted to express my gratitude. I’ll help you as much as I can.’

Beneath the message was a single letter, L.

A faint wave of emotion swept over me.

It was a small act, but in a society like this, where kindness is rare, it moved me deeply.

To think that such a gesture would come back to me like this.

It reminded me that there’s still room to be kind to others.

With a faint smile, I flipped to the next page of the guidebook.

Calling it a book was a stretch, it was more like a memo.

It consisted of just a few thin sheets of paper, with handwritten notes scribbled in the margins beside the printed sections.

‘This was written rather hastily, so there may be a lot of missing details. If I learn more, I’ll send you a letter.’

I nodded, then turned the page.

The next section contained information about my personal profile.

My name is…

Selene Whedon (age 20), a Count House. After losing her parents at a young age to the Demon King, she has lived with her older brother, who inherited the title of Count.

‘Demon king?’

The term gave me pause, but I decided to keep reading.

She has yet to make her societal debut. There are no clear rumors or arranged engagements, it appears she is under no pressure to marry.

‘Since she lost her parents and has been homebound, if anyone gets suspicious, just say she’s naive about the world because she’s always been indoors!’

…Huh?

I tilted my head in confusion and turned the page. The next section introduced main figures.

‘Here are a few I’ve evaluated based on my personal opinions!’

Male Lead 1: Sirinü Lephrix (age 20) Born with a bloodline capable of sealing Demon Kings. Carries emotional scars from a painful past caused by one. Black hair, violet eyes.

He’s the male lead, so of course his appearance is perfect, there’s nothing to see from him except his looks. His personality seems terrible. Not recommended.’

Male Lead 2: Noelle Bradford (age 22) The Imperial Crown Prince, considered the future of the empire. Bright and composed personality. Blonde hair, emerald eyes.

‘He’s bright and calm, which basically means he’s nice to everyone. Doesn’t seem like a good romantic match. More of the friendly type. Also, being the crown prince, he’s probably a handful to deal with. Not recommended.’

Original Female Lead: Elloe Calart (age 21) Energetic and bright. Possesses the power to subdue demon kings, though she remains unaware of her strength. Pink hair, pink eyes.

‘She’s lively and cheerful, but maybe a little too hyper and scatterbrained. Still, if you get close to her, don’t be surprised if she starts dragging you around everywhere.’

Villainess: Viviana Erylleon (age 19) Youngest daughter of the wealthiest noble family in the empire. Spoiled and naive. Believes everything can be solved with money. Red hair, blue eyes.

‘She’ll probably try to show off just because she’s rich. Might even try to beat you with money… Just take the hit and collect the cash!’

….

What is this?

I stared blankly at the absurd memo, blinking in disbelief.

Turning the page again, I came across something titled ‘Summary’.

Could it be… here too?

‘This summary is just content pulled from the database. I will explain more if you want the full details.’

Somehow, I felt relieved. I lowered my gaze to read the summary.

A Demon King appeared in the once-peaceful empire,

seeking to transform it into a land ruled by demons.

The people resisted with all their might,

and countless lives were lost in the struggle.

The sealing of the Demon King could only be accomplished by a descendant of House Lephrix working alongside one chosen and blessed by the prophecy.

But when the chosen one from the prophecy failed to appear, the Duke and Duchess of Lephrix gave their lives to complete the seal.

The Demon King left behind a curse: One day, he would return to the empire.

Since his sealing, under the shadow of that curse, the empire had fallen into slow decline.

Then, one day, whispers spread, the time of the Demon King’s resurrection was drawing near.

When moonlight touched the gem from the moon,

the gears of fate would begin to turn.

Sirinü, bearer of the sacred bloodline; Noelle, tasked with defending the empire; and Elloe, who holds the power to subdue demons, together, they would rise to face the returning darkness, and once again seal the Demon King.

…Wait, that’s it?

How do they even fight him?

Who ends up with whom?

Who’s the male lead?

Why is this summary vaguer than a movie trailer?

I was sure of it now, this whole thing was a scam.

Some kind of elaborate conspiracy just to trick me.

I mean, seriously, isn’t this a bit much just to prank one ordinary person?

A Demon King? They said this was going to be an ordinary story!

Sure, there was mention of a Demon King, but if I had known, I wouldn’t have come here so casually…

At the very least, I would’ve mentally prepared myself.

Frustration mounting, I flipped through the guidebook again.

Even after double-checking, there wasn’t a single mention of Selene in the summary.

She clearly had no relevance to the central plot.

With a sigh, I tossed the guidebook aside and collapsed onto the bed.

‘The Demon King… Will I end up seeing it?’

It looked like the main characters were the ones destined to fight him.

And me? I was nothing more than a side character, not even listed in the plot summary.

Maybe I wasn’t even important enough to be called an extra. Wouldn’t it be more helpful if I just stayed quietly at home?

If this were a webtoon, I’d probably be one of those faceless background characters you can barely distinguish.

‘Then it’s fine. It’s not like it matters where I am, right? No reason to go running around.’

It wasn’t a bad conclusion.

I smiled, feeling a little more at ease. Once I had gathered my thoughts, my stomach started to growl.

‘I wonder if the food here is any good?’

Honestly, I’m not picky, anything edible is usually fine for me. My stomach can handle just about anything.

But the real problem… was that this world didn’t have cell phones.

It already felt like I was going through withdrawal.

Still, I had to accept it. It wasn’t like I could make one from scratch.

Some people call it a digital detox, say too much phone time is bad for you. So… maybe this is actually good for me?

I pursed my lips and studied my reflection, curious about how I’d changed.

‘Judging by their work, there’s a chance my appearance hasn’t changed.”

I snapped the guidebook shut and dashed toward the golden hallway.

That pretty, adorable face I’d seen earlier was looking my way again.

‘This is it!’

My heart fluttered.

Even though I was already looking, I wanted to keep staring.

‘Ha, this is too fun. Pretty people really are too much. Do they just get to enjoy looking this good all by themselves?’

I rested my chin on my palm, staring dreamily.

Then, as my hand brushed against my wrist, I felt a smooth, familiar sensation.

It was the bracelet I’d seen earlier, still wrapped around my wrist.

It wasn’t flashy or especially shiny, but for some reason, I couldn’t stop looking at it.

I wasn’t sure why I liked it so much.

Looking closer, the soft gray gemstone shimmered with a subtle blue tint.

It was beautiful.

‘It kind of looks like a blue moon.’

The word ‘moon’ lingered in my mind for some reason, but… there was no need to worry.

Demon King or whatever… it didn’t really matter now.

‘No time for that. Back to admiring my face.’

Knock, knock.

At last, the knock I’d been waiting for came.

I dove into bed as if I’d been thrown and quickly shut my eyes, pretending to sleep.

“Miss, it’s time to wake up.”

I did everything I could to keep my twitching lips from curling into a smile.

I figured if they called me one more time, I could open my eyes naturally.

‘What kind of expression would look natural when waking up?’

While I was deliberating, the voice, gentle but clearly worried, continued.

“Oh my, why are your eyes twitching like that? Are you feeling unwell?”

‘……’

“Should I call the doctor?”

“Aaah! I slept great!”

I opened my eyes wide.

A girl with auburn hair and a neat dress was staring at me with wide, surprised eyes.

Aaargh! Eye contact!

“Good morning, Miss! I’m Lurie from the House of Baron Oberte. Starting today, I’ll be your maid.”

“The bath has been prepared for you.”

“Oh, thank you…”

“Pardon?”

I hurriedly clamped my mouth shut.

Even though I might have looked awkward, I couldn’t bring myself to say anything back to someone offering me a service.

Lurie looked at me with a strict and slightly cautious expression.

This was clearly a rigid class-based society.

If I did anything strange, she might suspect I wasn’t really a noble lady.

I gave her an awkward smile.

“Haha… thanks?”

“Please follow me this way.”

I followed Lurie as she led me.

Once the door opened, I saw a perfectly clean and well-organized bathroom.

My eyes immediately landed on the luxurious bathtub, its rim lined with gold, like something straight out of a palace I’d only ever dreamed of.

It was more beautiful than anything I’d imagined, like a scene from a romance fantasy novel.

Warm bubbles rose gently within the tub.

A bathtub this extravagant in the morning? Completely mad.

Is this what the life of a transmigrator tastes like?

My lips twitched with anticipation, but I held back a grin as I dipped my hand into the water.

The warmth was perfect, with bubbles gently wrapping around my fingers.

It wasn’t quite the kind of heat that makes you sigh, “Ah~ so refreshing,” but it was close enough.

When would I ever get to enjoy something like this again?

A hotel vacation, something I’d never experienced in real life, yet somehow, here I was.

It was such a shame I couldn’t take a picture.

I was dying to sink into the bath right away, but…

“Um… why aren’t you leaving?”

Lurie, who had escorted me to the bathroom, was still standing there in silence.
