Actually, It’s a Messy Melodrama Chapter 101
Despite Haeshin’s protests, Taejun spoke with a brazen face, completely unbothered.
“Why? This really looks good on you. It’s totally your style. You have to buy it.”
“Then please take out the one I tried on before this.”
“No. That one’s color suits you way too well.”
His face, with eyes wide and head shaking, looked almost innocent. As Haeshin, losing his will to fight, stood speechless, Taejun quickly signaled to the staff member waiting behind them to include this outfit as well.
“Mr. President, that’s really enough now. I think I’ve bought more clothes today than I have in my entire life.”
Unfortunately, those words from Cha Haeshin only served to fire Taejun up more.
“Don’t be like that; let’s just look at a few more.”
To be honest, Taejun hadn’t intended to act like this from the start. Shopping was something they could do anytime in the future, so there was no need to overdo it and buy everything today.
However, every time Haeshin stepped out wearing a new outfit, Taejun lost his mind. First of all, Cha Haeshin was too beautiful. His face, which was a striking beauty, went without saying, and his slender, model-like body looked beautiful in anything.
Like a man possessed, Taejun added every single item Haeshin put on to the purchase list. He had lived his whole life thinking he had no interest in fashion, but for the first time, he felt like he could understand why people watched fashion shows.
Later, the staff members watching Taejun from the side even described Han Taejun as looking like a groom seeing his bride in a wedding dress for the first time, so nothing more needed to be said.
But that was only the initial impression; by the time Haeshin came out in his third or fourth outfit, Taejun’s emotions shifted. From then on, a sense of injustice took hold.
If Cha Haeshin had been lucky enough to be born into a good family like himself, he would have been enjoying this kind of life for a long time already. He wouldn’t have had to wear worn-out hand-me-downs; he could have bought the clothes he wanted, as many as he wanted.
No, even if he had just been born into an ordinary family. If he hadn’t met a father less than a maggot who beat his wife and child as if to kill them every day, Haeshin would have lived enjoying the simple happiness of receiving clothes as gifts on special days.
But what was Cha Haeshin’s life like? Only after enduring endless pain and countless deaths did he finally stand here, at last wearing good clothes and good shoes. That fact made Han Taejun feel unutterably sorrowful and miserable.
It was because of this that Taejun couldn’t restrain himself and bought up clothes indiscriminately. He wanted to soothe his heavy heart, even if it was through this.
“Next time. Let’s come again next time. It’s not like you’re never going to buy me clothes again for the rest of my life if we only buy them today.”
Haeshin spoke urgently, grabbing Taejun’s arm with both hands. If left alone, it seemed Taejun was truly in the mood to buy up every single item in the department store.
Taejun stared quietly at Haeshin’s hand touching his arm before gently taking that hand in his. The staff members, who had maintained their composure well until now, couldn’t perfectly manage their expressions this time and widened their eyes.
Haeshin, keenly sensing the sudden change in the surrounding atmosphere, tried to pull his hand away in a hurry, but Taejun gripped Haeshin’s hand even tighter instead.
“Fine. Since we can come back next time to buy more. Until then, you should think seriously about what your own taste is.”
“Yes, I’ll do that. Thank you so much. I’ve really never had an experience like this…”
His heart melting at Taejun’s sweet voice, Haeshin started speaking comfortably for a moment, but then he quickly pulled himself together. The time and place weren’t right.
“Anyway… thank you. Mr. President.”
“Don’t thank me for something so small.”
“Even so.”
The staff member, who had stepped back to wait for an opening but couldn’t help noticing the unmistakable intimate vibe, quickly approached and spoke.
“Then we will pack all the items you’ve selected and send them to your home.”
“Please do it as quickly as possible.”
Taejun replied politely, as if he hadn’t just been acting like a doting fool. The staff member bowed respectfully.
“Yes, understood.”
“Good work.”
“Thank you. Please visit us again anytime, Mr. President.”
Taejun skillfully accepted the greetings of the staff members who stood in a line bowing, and led Haeshin out of the room.
The staff who saw Taejun and Haeshin today would need to be kept quiet, but Secretary Choi would handle that, so it wasn’t something Taejun needed to worry about.
“You’re hungry, right? Let’s eat dinner before going home.”
The only person Taejun wanted to take care of was Cha Haeshin.
☂️
—For now, since I don’t know how Manager Jin Youngmin will move, I’ve placed a live-in helper at Mr. Cha Haeshin’s mother’s house. She will assist the mother until she is hospitalized next week.
“Yeah. Good job. The hospital is all handled too, right?”
—Yes. I’ll have people tailing Jin Youngmin as well, so don’t worry too much.
While Haeshin was showering, Taejun received the report from Secretary Choi over the phone, stretching his neck side to side. Just thinking of Jin Youngmin made his anger flare up reflexively, making the back of his neck feel stiff.
“He’s a much more insidious and crazy bastard than you know. Be careful with everything, okay?”
—Yes. The messages he’s sending to Mr. Cha Haeshin are certainly not normal.
Hearing the messages Jin Youngmin had sent through Secretary Choi, Taejun’s expression grew extremely sharp.
Fortunately, Haeshin wouldn’t see those messages, but thinking about how Haeshin had endured such low-life violence alone in so many previous timelines made a fire rage inside him.
—I will let you know if there are more matters to report.
“Yeah, alright.”
Taejun, who had been pressing his temples with his fingers while listening to Secretary Choi, soon continued.
“You’re suffering a lot because you met a wicked CEO.”
—Well, what can I do. I have to consider it my fate for meeting Mr. President.
Taejun thought the word “fate” coming from Secretary Choi’s mouth was funny. A fate where one is entangled in a person’s regression without even knowing why, losing memories every time and repeating the same time alongside them, is certainly not ordinary.
“Don’t feel too wronged. I’ll compensate you for everything.”
—I’ll accept the compensation gratefully, but more than that… I’ll be satisfied if you could just explain everything clearly to me later on.
Taejun let out a chuckle at Secretary Choi’s words, as he was once again pushing for the questions he still had. He thought the man was truly consistent.
“Alright. Get some rest and see you tomorrow.”
Taejun offered a parting word in a soft, soothing tone.
—Yes. Rest well too, Mr. President, and I’ll see you in the morning.
Secretary Choi withdrew today without prying further. After ending the call, Taejun lay long on the sofa and stared at the ceiling.
Since entering this timeline, peaceful days had certainly continued. He hoped things would stay exactly like they were lately, no more and no less.
However, Taejun knew this was a peace that wouldn’t last long. It was merely the calm before the storm. And Haeshin likely knew that fact as well.
There was no way to know how massive the approaching storm would be, or how large a tsunami would come to swallow the two of them.
However, one thing was certain: Han Taejun and Cha Haeshin would not back down anymore. They would fight and fight again, and this time, they would surely seize victory.
“Mr. President, are you tired?”
Just then, a pleasant voice rang out from near his head. Taejun, while lying down, only turned his head to look up at Haeshin, who had finished his shower.
“What if I am? What if I’m so tired I don’t even have the strength to walk?”
“Should I give you a piggyback ride to the bathroom?”
“You?”
Taejun asked back in a clearly mocking tone. Haeshin’s eyes narrowed sharply.
“You think I can’t carry Mr. President?”
“Yeah.”
“Wow, I’m not that much of a weakling, you know?”
“You seem like a weakling though.”
Taejun provoked him openly. Haeshin stomped his foot hard, approached, and crouched down in front of Taejun, showing his back.
“Try getting on! I can even jump rope while carrying Mr. President.”
“You’ll just get hurt. Is there a need to act tough over something like this?”
“I’ve gone through all sorts of hardships in my life and there’s almost nothing I haven’t done, so how does it make sense that I can’t even carry Mr. President?”
Crouched down, Haeshin’s back heaved with indignation. Taejun quietly stared at that back, which must have carried such heavy burdens until now.
Even if it could carry something heavier, even if it was a back that could easily carry several Han Taejuns, it was a precious back that he didn’t want to burden with even 1g of weight.
“Don’t regret it if you get hurt for no reason.”
Hiding his surging emotions, Taejun muttered playfully as he reached his hand toward Haeshin’s back.
“Mr. President, you better be ready to be surprised.”
Haeshin’s determined voice was utterly trivial and cute. Soon, Taejun’s hands grabbed Haeshin’s shoulders from behind.
And the moment Haeshin put strength into his body, Taejun’s two hands moved down, wrapped around Haeshin’s waist, and lifted him onto the sofa.
“Ugh…!”
With a short scream, Haeshin’s body was pulled up onto the sofa. Since it was a completely unexpected situation, he couldn’t even struggle. Haeshin, who ended up lying in Taejun’s arms, blinked his eyes blankly and spoke.
“What’s this, all of a sudden?”
“Just because.”
“I really can carry Mr. President, you know?”
“I know. But I just wanted to lie like this with you for a moment.”
Haeshin, who had been squirming to escape Taejun’s arms, stopped moving upon hearing those words.
