Resurrection Chapter 66 - Save Heesoo Hyung
While Kang Cheoljun was away reporting to him, he and Yoon Younghyun received treatment in the infirmary, wondering whether he should pull out at this point or not. But there was a limit to what he could handle all by himself. He needed someone… for example, a wolf cub like Yoon Younghyun.
Yoon Younghyun was an opportunist, but he was also simple enough to immediately fall for it if you dangled something delicious in front of his nose. As long as his loyalty to Kim Yitae didn’t turn into appetite, he was a reasonably trustworthy person.
But one flaw always tends to overwhelm all the strengths. He hesitated, unsure if he could control the man-eating beast that was Yoon Younghyun.
In the meantime, Kang Cheoljun returned, and he wanted to finish the conversation they couldn’t have inside the dungeon. But being at the Special Ops base camp itself was uncomfortable, so he changed the location under the excuse of wanting to rest.
Kang Cheoljun didn’t particularly object to the suggestion of going to Yoon Younghyun’s Team A office in Sejong City. It seemed he thought it would be easier to talk there, as it was a relatively neutral place.
Yoon Younghyun, who was suddenly forced to lend out his office, pretended to grumble, but since that was the most comfortable place for him, he led the way.
As soon as they arrived at the Team A office located in Naseong-dong, Min Gongchan, without any guidance, found the sleeping room and threw himself onto the bottom bunk of a bunk bed. In truth, after wandering through the dungeon, fighting a fierce battle with Yaksha, and being thrown into a fire, he was so exhausted he couldn’t lift a finger. He passed out as soon as he buried his head in a pillow that reeked of the werewolf’s characteristic gamey smell.
He never thought he would dream as a death-like sleep came over him. Because it wasn’t simply a dream but a memory, it was far too vivid even after he woke up. The weight of Kim Yitae leaning against his chest, the grip of his hand as it squeezed his, and above all, his last words were still distinct.
‘Save Heesoo hyung.’
“Who the hell is asking who to save whom.”
Min Gongchan uttered words no one could hear and clutched his head. Kim Yitae was always like that. Whenever he left what could be considered his last words, he was always going on about Seo Heesoo.
To think that was all he had to say when the world was coming to an end.
He didn’t know the reason for asking him to save the one who was destroying the world. It would have been more understandable if he had asked him to kill him sooner.
He wondered if the reason he kept failing was that Kim Yitae’s last words were to save Seo Heesoo, not to kill him.
Min Gongchan let out a cold sigh and lowered the hand that had been tearing at his hair. Then he tried to guess how many hours he had slept.
Judging by the fact that his fatigue was gone, it seemed he had slept for at least half a day. As he didn’t seem to need any more sleep, Min Gongchan got up from the bed, which creaked loudly as its mattress was completely worn out.
Honestly, he didn’t know what these werewolves were thinking, getting a bunk bed. He understood that a bunk bed was better for space efficiency, but could a bed held together by just a few steel pipes handle their weight?
Min Gongchan shook his head and opened the door to go outside. The outside was a fairly spacious office. A few work desks with PCs were placed along the wall, but what took up the most space were a large TV and a recliner sofa.
As if to prove that the Team A members spent most of their time there, the recliner sofa was splotched with all sorts of food stains. The table across from it also showed clear traces of delivery food.
As soon as he frowned at the messy sight, hostile glares poured down on him. It was only natural, as this was the office of Team A, run by Yoon Younghyun. Every werewolf here had been thoroughly beaten by Min Gongchan in front of Dungeon 77 last time.
The Team A members bared their teeth with glistening eyes, as if they wanted to chew Min Gongchan up right then and there. The low growling sounds were menacing, but Min Gongchan calmly crossed the office. Then he pulled out a plastic chair in front of the table where Kang Cheoljun was sitting and plopped down.
Just then, Yoon Younghyun appeared with a towel on his head, seemingly having just come out of the shower. Min Gongchan gestured at him with his chin and said.
“Hey, I’m hungry.”
Instead of Yoon Younghyun responding to those words, Kim Mina pointed a finger at him.
“Is this person really a regressor? Is that even possible?”
At Kim Mina’s question, Yoon Younghyun replied, vigorously rubbing his wet hair with the towel.
“That’s what he says. If Resurrection exists, why would regression be impossible?”
Yoon Younghyun was wearing a team uniform with the Team A logo embroidered on it, but it certainly wasn’t his own clothes. The thin t-shirt was stretched so tight it looked like it would rip. Because of that, it was noticeable that Kang Cheoljun next to him was wearing the same clothes.
On the relatively small… no, the average-sized Kang Cheoljun, the t-shirt was not just loose but slightly big. He adjusted the garment that was slipping down his shoulder and got straight to the point.
“Min Gongchan, now that you’ve rested and woken up, let’s finish the conversation we couldn’t have earlier.”
“Didn’t I say I’m hungry?”
Hearing the nonchalant retort, Yoon Younghyun bared his teeth.
“Is being hungry important right now? Awakeners don’t die from starvation, so shut your mouth and just answer what you’re asked.”
“Hmph, Yoon Younghyun, have you already become Kang Cheoljun’s dog? I’m a normal person, so I’ll die if I starve. Give me something to eat. My stomach feels like it’s stuck to my back.”
At the words Min Gongchan revealed himself, not only Yoon Younghyun but even Kang Cheoljun’s eyes widened. Team A nearly had a fit. They surrounded the table where Min Gongchan was sitting and clamored.
“What kind of dogshit is this!”
“Stop with the ridiculous tricks. How can a normal person take on us werewolves?”
“Isn’t lying about being a regressor enough, now you’re a normal person?”
“If you’re a normal person, then I’m a weredog, a weredog!”
Min Gongchan glared at them coldly.
“Give me a break with the werewolf crap. You’re not even real werewolves. Come at me whenever you want. I’ll show you what the power of items is.”
“Wow! This is crazy. Captain, can I hit this bastard?”
“Are you just going to stand there after hearing that?”
“He beat us to a pulp with just the power of items?”
“I can’t believe it. Hey, get up right now!”
Yoon Younghyun calmed down his rioting team members.
“Be quiet! What happened last time is in the past, so forget it. Whose fault is it that we got beaten because we lacked skill?”
Yoon Younghyun was well aware of the fact that Min Gongchan had thrashed the clan leaders at the clan meeting. Looking back at how he was then, it was hard to believe Min Gongchan’s claim of being a normal person. It was easier to believe he was a superhuman who could destroy the mutts here with a single finger.
Not only did he not want to get on such a guy’s bad side, but he was also interested in the claim of being a regressor. Wasn’t returning to the past with knowledge of the future a fantasy everyone dreamed of at least once?
Thinking it would be great if he could get a lottery number or a stock tip—no, even just pick up on a hidden sweet spot—Yoon Younghyun did his best to hold his team members back. Noticing his ulterior motive, Min Gongchan spoke coolly.
“I don’t know any lottery numbers. I’m also a layman when it comes to stocks, so don’t ask.”
“What? I thought you were a regressor?”
“Do you walk around with lottery numbers memorized? And the reason Team A is in financial trouble is because your management skills are crap, so step down as raid leader.”
At Min Gongchan’s outburst, Yoon Younghyun’s face turned red and blue. At his words, Kim Mina gasped and looked back at Yoon Younghyun. His face contorted fiercely, and whiskers began to sprout.
“Financial trouble? Weren’t we making good money?”
The other team members, joining in, asked questions in confusion.
“We worked nonstop and our profits were decent. I thought we had money to spare? We were saving it up to buy some items soon, weren’t we?”
Yoon Younghyun couldn’t bring himself to say that the return on investment was in the negative because he had poorly invested the raid’s operating funds. He had invested in the development of an orichalcum mine through an introduction from the clan meeting, but because it was where a griffin’s nest was located, they couldn’t even set foot there, let alone properly develop it.
When Yoon Younghyun couldn’t give an answer, Kim Mina’s eyes blazed as she raised her voice.
“You didn’t invest in the mine, did you! I definitely told you not to invest there…!”
Yoon Younghyun glared at an innocent Min Gongchan, but he just snorted and turned his head away. Meanwhile, Kang Cheoljun brought up a delivery app as a hologram.
“Pick whatever. I’ll order it for you.”
As he was genuinely hungry, Min Gongchan did not refuse.
“There’s nothing like a hamburger to restore your energy. Order me a Burger Queen Shrimp Double Burger combo.”
Hearing Min Gongchan’s words, Yoon Younghyun quickly jumped in.
“I’ll have the Cheese Double Burger. With a large coconut shrimp side and a large milkshake added.”
Not to be outdone, Kim Mina added her order.
“I’ll have the Fried Onion Burger. Side dish is the Gold Wing Combo.”
“Oh, me too, Fried Onion Burger with the Gold Wing Combo.”
“Me too, me too.”
When all the Team A members added their orders, the payment total reached nearly 300,000 won. Kang Cheoljun frowned and said.
“I never said I’d buy for you werewolves too.”
Yoon Younghyun gripped Kang Cheoljun’s shoulder tightly and smiled.
“Count it as office rent. I lent you clothes too.”
“My activity fund is all the people’s hard-earned tax money. I can’t waste it recklessly.”
“Calling buying a few hamburgers a waste!”
“It’s a 300,000 won expense for just hamburgers. If that’s not a waste, what is?”
As the two bickered over the payment, Min Gongchan got angry.
“I’ll pay with my card, so just order it already!”
Just then, the TV flickered on and a notice about a hamburger discount flowed across the screen.
