‘Seriously, why is she looking at me like I’m some kind of scammer?’

“Don’t even think about scamming Bom.”

“What are you talking about?”

“You told her she’s a healer, right? Do you have any idea how rare healers are?”

“If I were trying to scam her, why would I bring her all the way to an Awakening Center?”

“What else?! You’re probably using her failure to awaken as an excuse to extort money!”

The sharp glint in her eyes reminded me of the terrifying gumihos from those old horror shows I used to watch as a kid. It actually gave me goosebumps.

“Ms. An Bom will awaken,” I said firmly.

At my words, the gumiho’s expression twisted into a frown.

“And what proof do you have to say that?! Don’t go filling the kid’s head with empty promises—!”

“Excuse me, how much time is left?” I cut her off and turned to the staff member waiting nearby.

“Ten minutes to go.”

“Then we’ll know in ten minutes, won’t we?” I replied calmly.

I didn’t feel like arguing any further, so I kept quiet. Miho glared at me for a bit, then looked upstairs, clearly worried about An Bom.

Meanwhile, I shifted my focus to something more productive—finding the right location for the guild building.

A guild’s headquarters says a lot about its strength and influence. The fancier the building, the more prestigious the guild appears.

So I couldn’t just pick some random spot.

It had to be close to the Hunter Association for convenience with paperwork—and more importantly, it needed to be near a solid dungeon where members could train and grow stronger.

‘Myeongdong’s probably the best choice.’

Right now, real estate prices near the A-rank dungeon there were low due to safety concerns—but that would change soon.

The materials and gear from the Ant Nest fetch high prices, and once people realize the Queen has a long respawn timer, demand will spike.

Not to mention…

‘Two more dungeons are about to appear in Myeongdong.’

One’s an S-rank with changing formats each month—and it drops dragon scales.

The other is a B-rank with a tree that produces Rajana fruit, known to treat Alzheimer’s… and even hair loss.

Back then, a struggling guild pooled everything they had to buy it. Once the fruit’s effects were revealed, they skyrocketed to become the richest guild in the country.

Unlike monsters, that tree produces fruit every three days. And let’s be honest—there’s no shortage of people dealing with Alzheimer’s or hair loss in the world.

“Hehehe…”

I let out a quiet chuckle, but Miho immediately shot me a suspicious look—like she’d just caught some kind of pervert.

‘Okay, focus…’

“Ms. An Bom has awakened as an A-rank healer!!”

The staff member’s voice was filled with disbelief.

‘Well, of course they’re shocked.’

An A-rank awakening is rare enough on its own—but An Bom was Korea’s first healer.

And this wasn’t even a natural self-awakening. She awakened through the center.

No wonder they were stunned.

“W-What?” the gumiho gasped, just as the sound of footsteps echoed from the stairs.

It was An Bom—smiling from ear to ear.

Beaming with joy, she handed me a sheet of paper containing her detailed Hunter profile.

“They said I’m Korea’s first A-rank healer!!”

I took the paper and scanned it. Everything matched what I had seen with Clairvoyance—A-rank healer, full skill list, even [Recovery], which she would unlock later. Nothing had changed.

As expected of Clairvoyance. It really sees everything.

‘Guess I’ll have to work her hard in the dungeons to unlock that Recovery skill soon.’

“…For real? You really awakened as a healer, Bom?”

“Yeah, Unnie! They said I’m an A-rank healer!”

Everyone was bursting with excitement—except me, since I already knew.

The gumiho especially looked like she was about to cry as she hugged An Bom tight.

“I’m so happy for you.”

“Unnie, this doesn’t even feel real.”

“Same here.”

“I’m really gonna be rich now, right?”

“Yup. This is amazing, Bom.”

Even An Bom’s eyes were starting to tear up. As the two hugged, overcome with emotion, one of the stunned staff members finally snapped out of it and stepped forward with a smile.

“Healer An Bom, we’ll need to get you registered.”

One of the perks of this high-end Awakening Center was that newly awakened Hunters could register on the spot—no need to visit the Hunter Association separately.

At his words, An Bom quickly wiped her tears, pulled her ID from her bag, and followed him to the registration desk.

Miho watched An Bom go with a proud smile, then turned to face me.

Her expression had completely changed. Gone was the woman who’d looked at me like a scammer—now her eyes were still shimmering with leftover tears. I instinctively flinched a little.

‘Women crying can be terrifying.’

“I’m sorry. I was too quick to judge you.”

“It’s understandable, from your point of view. Don’t worry about it.”

“No, really—I mean it. I don’t even know how to properly apologize.”

“It’s fine, honestly.”

“You’re a lifesaver. Bom’s been struggling so much with the debt her late parents left behind…”

“I see.”

“But how did you know she’d awaken?”

Her tears were gone now, replaced by a look of intense curiosity.

I had awakened An Bom for my own reasons, but now Miho was looking at me like I was some kind of savior—and it was honestly a little awkward.

“…It’s a skill. I have one that lets me see people who are destined to awaken.”

At that, Miho suddenly grabbed both of my hands.

“A skill like that?! That’s incredible!”

“Ahaha… Is it…?”

“Even if you could see it, not many people would actually spend their own money like that. To invest in someone like that without hesitation—you’re an amazing Guild Master!”

“Haha… ha…”

“So, I was wondering! Could I join your guild too?”

“Huh?”

Her sudden request caught me off guard. Miho opened her bag and pulled out a white envelope, handing it to me.

“I’d like to apply for a position!”

I took the envelope and pulled out the document inside—it was a résumé.

It listed every certification and bit of work experience I’d seen earlier through Clairvoyance.

“I brought it just in case, but I didn’t think I’d actually get to use it! Joining a Hunter guild has been a dream of mine for ages!”

The self-introduction section started with her career at age 100—where she worked, what she did, and how deeply she wanted to be part of a Hunter guild.

“Well, technically, the guild only has two members right now—just me and An Bom…”

“That’s exactly why I want to join! I love building things from the ground up!”

“Still…”

“Please. I want to stay close to Bom. I don’t mind a low salary, I really don’t. Just let me be a part of the guild.”

What a strange foxkin.

I looked back and forth between Miho’s pleading face and her résumé, then gave a small nod.

Honestly, I did need someone to handle administrative work and accounting.

I’d planned to take care of all that myself at first, since it would’ve taken a while to find someone trustworthy after founding the guild.

‘Still, with 110 years of experience and the fact that she came with Bom—she’s probably dependable. And Bom would like having her around too.’

“…Alright. Then welcome to the guild. I’ll match the salary you listed here.”

“Really? Yay! Thank you so much!”

Her ears perked up and her fluffy tail wagged enthusiastically.

Seeing her so happy gave me a strangely heartwarming feeling.

Just then, An Bom returned, proudly holding her new Hunter ID. Miho immediately grabbed her hand.

“Bom! I joined your guild too!”

“Huh? Really? That means we work at the same place now?”

“Yup! I got a job thanks to you.”

“Unnie! Congrats!”

“You too, Bom—congrats!”

The two hugged tightly, tearing up again, their joy completely infectious. I smiled and turned to the staff member nearby.

“How can I help you, sir?”

“This place ensures privacy, right?”

“…Yes. Sorry—what do you mean?”

“This place is government-run. So if the person requests it, their awakening information stays confidential… correct?”

“Y-Yes, that’s right.”

The staff member’s face turned pale in an instant. I could practically see the thoughts racing through his head.

‘They were probably planning to use this as a way to promote the place… like ‘Healer Awakening Center’ or something.’

There was only one S-rank healer in the entire world, and fewer than 100 A-rank healers. Most of the healers active in Korea were actually foreign nationals brought in through scouting efforts.

So once word got out that An Bom had awakened as an A-rank healer, every guild in Korea would be fighting to recruit her.

It’s not that I didn’t trust Bom, but… life has taught me that people change—especially when money’s involved.

Sure, right now she might be joining my guild out of gratitude—or maybe because she felt indebted after I paid for her awakening.

But if another guild offered to cover those same costs and then some, who’s to say she wouldn’t change her mind?

That’s why it was crucial to keep her awakening under wraps until she signed an official contract.

“Please keep her awakening details confidential.”

“But… that decision ultimately rests with the healer herself.”

I turned to An Bom. “Miss An Bom, would it be alright to keep your healer status a secret for now?”

“Yes!! That’s totally fine!”

With her enthusiastic reply, I shot the staff member a smug look.

“You heard her. If word gets out that Korea’s first healer has awakened…” I trailed off, then pointed at the man, then at the Awakening Center building. Finally, I drew a firm line across my neck with one hand.

“I’ve got time. And I’ve got money.”

No need to say “I’ll see you in court.” The message was clear enough. The employee’s face paled as he nodded.

“Please make sure both the Hunter Association and your staff keep this strictly confidential.”

“…Yes.”

“I’m not saying you can’t promote it eventually—just hold off for a little while. Got it?”

“…Yes.”

The staff member looked like he’d just swallowed something sour, so to ease my conscience a bit, I handed him the cash I’d prepared ahead of time.

“Buy yourself something nice.”

“Th-thank you.”

With that, I ended the conversation on a slightly warmer note—then turned to find An Bom bowing at a perfect 90-degree angle.

“Thank you so much.”

“It’s nothing. Consider it an investment. Just join my guild instead of bowing.”

“Yes! I absolutely will! I’ll devote my life to it!”

Uh… please don’t go that far. Just help me prevent the apocalypse.

There were a lot of things I wanted to say—but instead, I stood up without another word.

I was done here. The only thing left was forming the guild.

“Let’s go register it.”

“Yes!”

“Yeah, let’s go!”

I led the two excited women to the Guild Registration Office, conveniently located on the first floor of City Hall, just next door.

To my surprise, the waiting area was more crowded than expected.

While running a guild could be lucrative, recruiting people probably wasn’t as easy as it sounded.

I shrugged, grabbed an application form, and picked up a pen.

“Guild name…”

I’d been thinking about starting a guild for a while now, but I hadn’t settled on a name.

Staring at the empty space on the form, a sudden idea struck me. I smiled and filled it in, along with the rest of my information.

“The registration fee is 50,000 won.”

Huh. Cheaper than I thought.

I paid with my card, and just like that, the guild was registered.

After a few quick keystrokes, the staff printed out a temporary guild certificate and handed it over.

With this, I could now raid government-designated dungeons with guild members to make the guild official.

“Huh? You already submitted the form?”

“What’s the guild name?”

Grinning, I handed the certificate to the two women.

The guild name was Yeon (緣)—meaning “fate” or “connection.” It came from the Yeon (연) in my name. And just like that, Yeon Guild was born.

Holding the certificate in hand, I moved on to the next step: buying a building. I had my sights set on Myeongdong—exactly as I’d planned earlier.

A six-story building should be enough. I wondered if anything decent was currently on the market.

“Our guild office is…”

“Oh! We’re about to buy one now.”

“What? Buy what?”

“A building, of course. We need a headquarters.”
