As Giju Wishes Chapter 1.5
“He might actually be trying to help. You’re being too sensitive right now to judge properly.”
Lim Hyojun glanced at the eyes that had clearly gone mad before shaking his head.
“Right, you haven’t thrown it away either because it’s on your mind.”
Jo Jaehyun pitifully stared at the piece of paper that had been rolling around on the desk for days on end. The corners were frayed from being touched so much.
“You wouldn’t even look at your girlfriend that often.”
Just as Jo Jaehyun said, Choi Geon spent almost the entire day looking at nothing but the slip of paper. And with a gaze so intense it could burn.
“Hey, just throw it away.”
Unable to watch any longer, Song Jiseop took the paper and threw it away. At that, Choi Geon, who had been locked in a silent war of nerves with the slip of paper without yielding an inch, shot up from his seat as if electrocuted.
“Hey!!”
Choi Geon forcefully grabbed the back of Song Jiseop’s neck as he was about to rip the note. Losing his balance, Song Jiseop let go of the paper. It floated down and landed gently on the desk of Kim Myeonggeon, who was sitting in the back. Kim Myeonggeon, who had been solving a math problem, casually checked the address. At the same time, Choi Geon snatched the note away.
“This is the bastard’s home base, why the hell would you throw it away,”
“Huh? Choi Geon, you know this place too?”
At Kim Myeonggeon’s words, everyone around stopped talking and looked at Kim Myeonggeon.
“You know this place?”
“This is the place that’s blowing up on social media right now.”
“What?”
“Why?”
Everyone except Choi Geon leaned in uncomfortably and asked.
“This shaman told Kim Donggeon not to get on the plane, and Kim Donggeon lived. You don’t know?”
Kim Donggeon was a famous celebrity who had even made it to Hollywood. The story of how he avoided death, which he shared on a talk show, was now spreading rapidly across the internet. Because so many hints had been given, it was extremely easy to find the location of the shaman’s house. Of course, this was information only known to those in the know, but Kim Myeonggeon, who was usually very interested in celebrities, knew it well.
“Is that for real? Isn’t he just spouting nonsense?”
Song Jiseop asked doubtfully.
“Kim Donggeon talked about it on ‘We Want to Know That Day’.”
‘We Want to Know That Day’ was a program famous for uncovering mysterious stories that couldn’t be explained by science through cross-verification.
“That’s what he says.”
Jo Jaehyun said to Choi Geon, who was standing still.
“They say he’s 100% accurate, so if you want to book an appointment now, you have to wait a year. Are you trying to make a reservation, by any chance?”
“He said he’s 100% accurate.”
This time, Song Jiseop turned his head and said. Choi Geon’s gaze shifted from Kim Myeonggeon to the note in his hand.
“Haa… fuck….”
Somehow, he was about to be bewitched by a ghost again.

With a backpack slung over one shoulder, Choi Geon stood crookedly, staring at the nameplate that read ‘Yongbong Mountain’s Shaman Chun’ with eyes full of disbelief. A part of his hair was wet again today from being splashed with water.
He gave the gate a kick-knock by tapping it with his foot. Choi Geon, who had no patience, kicked it harder, thump thump, about five seconds later. If no one came out in another second, he was planning to break down the door and enter.
“Jeez, who’s knocking on the door like that….”
A grumbling voice could be heard from inside. A moment later, the rusty gate opened and a man in a flamboyant hanbok appeared. He had thought it would be an old man, but he was younger than expected.
“Got an appointment?”
The man asked after looking Choi Geon up and down. In response, Choi Geon did the same, looking Shaman Chun up and down. This was the first time in his life he had encountered such a type.
A shaman and a ghost, it was possible when he thought about it. The Republic of Korea is a country with a clear shamanistic faith, so maybe it could actually be effective. Of course, if it was all bullshit, he’d just be a quack. It was worth a shot.
“No.”
“Tsk, this ain’t a playground for kids.”
Shaman Chun waved his hand, looking at the school uniform Choi Geon was wearing. He looked like he had money, but for the same price, he didn’t particularly want to deal with kids.
“Double.”
At that, Choi Geon uttered the words that could solve anything easily. With money, humans could create appointments that didn’t exist.
“Ahem-hem, my schedule is completely full, but today happens to be my day off… student, are you lucky? First, come on in….”
Without a moment’s hesitation, Shaman Chun led Choi Geon inside. Seeing him sniff out the scent of money like a ghost, Choi Geon glared at Shaman Chun with a face full of suspicion.
“Come in this way.”
Flicking open a fan, Shaman Chun sat in the seat of honor in the shrine and was startled to see Choi Geon boldly sit with his legs crossed like a nobleman. People who came here usually felt their spirit shrink and become intimidated, but there was no sign of that from him. The young punk had an unusual aura. From experience, guys with that kind of guts had a lot of money.
“Hmm, you’re no ordinary fellow.”
Covering half his face with the open fan, Shaman Chun’s eyes glinted with curiosity.
“So, what brings you here?”
“Some weird guy recommended this place.”
“Weird guy? Who are you talkin’ ab-”
“You’re a shaman and you don’t even know that?”
Choi Geon said, cutting off Shaman Chun’s words.
“A shaman isn’t a mind reader, you know. If you’re gonna test me like that, get the hell out.”
Shaman Chun waved his fan, gesturing for him to leave.
“That guy sent me here saying this place is good. You have to prove it, eh?”
Choi Geon took out his wallet and slapped a 50,000 won bill on the small dining table. At the brief glimpse of the thick wad of yellow bills, Shaman Chun swallowed hard.
“Mind reading or whatever, give it a try. Tell me what my problem is.”
“…Do you even know what my rates are?”
As Choi Geon got straight to the point, Shaman Chun also got straight to the point. In response, Choi Geon took out a card and dangled it between his fingers.
“Mister. Do you know how much is on here?”
The two stared at each other, engaged in a strange staring contest.
“If you don’t need it, I’ll leave.”
At the indifferent tone, Shaman Chun hastily put down his fan and grabbed the arm of Choi Geon, who was about to stand up.
“Hey now, don’t be so harsh….”
Shaman Chun looked at Choi Geon, whose body was wrapped in a golden rope, and momentarily set aside his pride.
“First, your birth….”
Before he could finish, Choi Geon tossed a note onto the small table.
“It’s all there, mister.”
Unfolding the note revealed his birth year and time. Shaman Chun looked at the note with a peculiar gaze, then grabbed a handful of rice and threw it, scattering it across the table.
“Hmm….”
He picked up the bell right next to him and began to shake it. The jingle-jangle sound echoed throughout the entire shrine. The movement of his hand gradually became more violent. Shaman Chun shook his whole body. Then, whipping his head back and forth, he raised the bell high up.
Thump!
The bell slammed down on the table. With a strange look in his eyes, Shaman Chun stared intently at Choi Geon, then his eyes widened.
“Who are you?”
At the question of who he was, Choi Geon frowned in displeasure.
“Wait, wait. You’re carrying a ghost.”
Shaman Chun reached out his hand towards Choi Geon’s cheek with a strangely puzzled expression. And Choi Geon slapped away the hand that was trying to caress his cheek as if it were disgusting.
“Fuck, where do you think you’re putting your hands.”
“Hey, hey, hey, you need to have an exorcism right now.”
“What?”
“That’s an evil spirit, an evil spirit. An evil water spirit. You’ve been getting splashed with water lately, haven’t you?”
Choi Geon, who calmly heard words that would have shocked most people, first thought about what connection there might be between that guy and this guy. How could he know if they were colluding to scam him? Nodding for the time being, Choi Geon took out his wallet without letting go of his suspicion.
“How much is it.”
“What is?”
“How much for the exorcism, mister.”
Choi Geon spoke with the feeling of seeing this through to the end. Since it was worth a shot anyway, if he asked for even his underwear, he’d have to give it. If he was a real fraud, he’d better be prepared.
“A big spender, I see….”
Shaman Chun, muttering to himself, held up his fingers in a V-shape.
“Twenty thousand?”
“Is this kid crazy.”
Shaman Chun’s face became serious as he shook his V-shaped fingers roughly.
“Two million?”
Only then did Shaman Chun nod with a peaceful expression.
“That’s fucking expensive….”
He had a lot of money, but there was little reason to spend money in this backwater town in the first place. Almost everything he needed was already at home. Choi Geon, who was getting used to the cheap prices of the countryside, scraped the credit card with his fingernail with a look that said you damn scammer.
“It’s double, you know. And for the record, I don’t take cards.”
“Pay later.”
“Pay first.”
“Not doing it.”
Choi Geon stood up from his seat without a trace of lingering attachment. At that, Shaman Chun once again grabbed Choi Geon’s arm.
“Hey kid, you have to listen to people until the end.”
Shaman Chun said with a rather serious face.
“Sometimes, paying later is okay.”
“Should’ve said so from the start.”
For someone who didn’t even take cards, he had a lot of demands.
“Start right away.”
“Hey, it’s not because of the money. It’s not usually possible right away, but I’m doing it for you because you seem to be in a hurry. You should be grateful, you.”
