“Me… why?”

“How should I know?”

She answered cheerfully with a shrug.

The fact that she looked exactly like the gentle, soft-eyed Oh Nara only made it all the more unsettling.

Nothing about this situation made any sense, but Jiwoo decided not to dwell on it.

‘For now, I’ll play along.’

Saving Nara comes first.

Repeating that to herself, Jiwoo spoke calmly.

“All right. I’ll meet your master. But first, let’s move Nara somewhere safe—”

“That won’t work. This is my territory now.”

As soon as she finished speaking, she pressed the blade harder against Oh Nara’s neck.

A thin line of blood welled up and dripped onto the floor.

Watching the blood fall, Jiwoo’s mind went blank.

“Y-You! You said your master wants to see me! You can’t do this!”

“I think you’ve got the wrong idea. You’re not in any position to be making demands.”

The fake Oh Nara smiled coldly and tilted her chin toward the window.

Jiwoo followed her gaze—and her face turned pale.

Outside the very window she had climbed through moments ago…

Something impossible was happening.

A black vortex churned across Seoul’s clear blue sky.

At the same time, a system window she’d seen once before appeared again.

“Oh, damn it!”

Seriously, what is wrong with this world?!

Why do dungeons keep falling in love with me?!

An unidentified Gate appearing was supposed to be something that happened only once every few years.

Yet for Jiwoo, it had become a regular event.

She raked her fingers through her hair in disbelief, cursing under her breath.

She felt the fake Oh Nara staring at her in amusement.

“You’ve got a much dirtier mouth than I heard.”

“You know me?”

“Of course. You’re fairly famous in our world.”

“…Me?”

Jiwoo frowned.

She had no idea what “their world” even was, let alone why she’d be famous there.

Yet somehow…

The words felt strangely familiar.

They reminded her of the mysterious man she’d met in the park.

“It’s you, isn’t it?”

“Huh?”

“Yep. It’s definitely you. You’re Do Jiwoo, right?”

The man who had suddenly appeared and held out his pinky finger.

‘He asked me if I was Kangwoo’s… g-girlfriend.’

Not long afterward, Kangwoo had reduced that man to ashes.

‘Their world… Then this woman must be from the same place as him.’

She still didn’t know exactly what the fake Oh Nara was.

But one thing was becoming clear.

She was one of the doppelgängers everyone had been talking about on television.

The puzzle pieces floated through Jiwoo’s mind.

Given enough time, she could probably fit them together.

But she didn’t have that luxury.

The flashing warnings interrupted her thoughts.

The fake Oh Nara laughed.

“You should feel honored. It’s proof that my master is coming personally to meet you.”

“So your master is inside that dungeon?”

“Being helpful isn’t really my style.”

She shrugged.

She was still pointing a knife at someone, yet Jiwoo wanted nothing more than to smack her on the head.

“My mission was simply to lure you here. That’s already accomplished.”

Checking the time on her wristwatch, she continued,

“Perfect timing, too. I waited until that bastard Seo Kangwoo was away. Ha… I’m really good at my job.”

Jiwoo’s eyes widened.

Forget the fact that this woman somehow knew Kangwoo’s schedule—

‘Of all times… Kangwoo’s gone?’

Cold sweat ran down her back.

To be honest…

She’d been counting on Kangwoo showing up.

Except when he was busy with the Emergency Disaster Response Team, he spent most of his time nearby.

The only reason she hadn’t fled as soon as the Dungeon Break warning appeared was because she’d expected him to come.

‘So she even calculated that?’

Just… who is she?

Jiwoo bit her lip.

She could wait for Special Team 7 to arrive.

But there wasn’t enough time.

There was no one else she could rely on.

She had to handle everything herself.

The newly forming dungeon was enormous—large enough to swallow the entire apartment complex.

‘It’s already too late to evacuate everyone… and I can’t leave Nara behind.’

Until the hunters arrived to clear the dungeon…

She alone would have to protect everyone.

Looking at the countdown floating in the air, Jiwoo quietly murmured,

“Homeowner’s Guardians… summon Gam-Gam.”

“What?”

The woman barely had time to react before a gigantic body crashed down from above.

BOOM!

—Landlord, you called, gam?

An Antman appeared, crushing the fake Oh Nara beneath its enormous body.

Because the room was so cramped, it had to hunch over awkwardly.

“Hold her down! Don’t let her move!”

—Hold what down, gam? Is there something on the flo— GAH, GAM!! GAAAH!!

Only after noticing the person underneath it did the Antman panic.

Crushed beneath the massive weight, the fake Oh Nara fought back.

“You little—! Get this thing off me! Since when do ants get in my way?!”

Flattened against the floor, she twisted her body and slashed upward with the knife.

“Don’t wave a knife at one of my family!”

Supporting the unconscious Oh Nara, Jiwoo kicked at the weapon.

The knife flew across the room and clattered onto the floor.

Jiwoo immediately activated another skill toward the open window.

“Homeowner’s Guardians… summon White Bird!”

This time, a White Bird appeared, its sleek white wings beating powerfully.

Jiwoo hoisted the unconscious Oh Nara onto its back.

The bird complained.

—Landlord, two humans are too heavy, chirp.

“Sorry! Just hang in there this once!”

—Be more careful next time, chirp. But… Landlord, is it okay if other humans see us?

“Huh?”

—There are humans down there watching us.

Holding tightly onto Oh Nara, Jiwoo looked down.

Tiny figures gathered below, all staring up at the sky.

With its incredible eyesight, White Bird observed them.

—They’re all holding little square stones. The same kind the Butler Boy carries.

“Oh… phones. That’s okay. Because…”

Once the dungeon opens…

They’ll all be destroyed anyway.

[00:00:03]

[00:00:02]

[00:00:01]

Maybe after surviving enough disasters…

You simply got used to them.

As Jiwoo’s trembling words faded away, the world turned brilliant white.

The Gate greedily swallowed everything around it.

* * *

—Team Leader Seo Kangwoo. Yellow Zone secured.

“Proceed to the Green Zone.”

—What? Then what about the Red Zo—

The transmission ended there.

Seo Kangwoo tossed the communicator aside and casually kicked away the corpses beneath his feet.

‘That took longer than expected.’

An unidentified B-rank dungeon had appeared inside the subway.

Because numerous civilians had been caught inside the Gate, the Emergency Disaster Response Team had been dispatched instead of a nearby guild.

Kangwoo had cleared the vast Red Zone alone.

It had taken him only thirty minutes.

Even so…

The fact that something so trivial had forced him away from Jiwoo irritated him.

He had arranged multiple layers of protection around her.

But he still couldn’t relax.

His enemy was every bit as obsessed with reaching Jiwoo as he was with protecting her.

An uneasy feeling surged through him.

Just as he lowered his sword…

A wave of monsters came rushing toward him.

With a single slash, Kangwoo cut down the first creature.

Then he looked up into empty space.

The sudden appearance of the unidentified Gate…

The hundreds of monsters that had seemed determined to keep him occupied…

None of it felt like a coincidence.

‘Jiwoo…’

The thought of her made his impatience grow.

After rapidly cutting through the remaining monsters, Kangwoo tightened his grip on his sword.

Without pausing for a second, he slashed repeatedly through the empty air.

Following the path of his blade, space itself split open.

A crack formed in the boundary separating the dungeon from reality.

By forcibly carving an exit out of the dungeon, Kangwoo stepped through without the slightest hesitation.

The dungeon had not yet been cleared.

But he couldn’t care less what happened to the humans left behind inside.
