Jiwoo didn’t even have time to answer. She immediately checked Gam124’s condition.

The black exoskeleton that had been as hard as armor was now torn to shreds.

‘If I treat him right now, I can still save him.’

Thankfully, it wasn’t too late.

Jiwoo rushed to the Antman and began treating Gam124 first, since he was the most critically injured.

Golden light seeped into Gam124’s body.

“What… are you doing?”

“…”

“You’re healing a monster? Hey, Do Jiwoo!”

Kang Jaegyu shouted in disbelief.

Still focused on the treatment, Jiwoo muttered,

“Be quiet.”

“What?”

As Kang Jaegyu advanced threateningly, the remaining Antmen hurried over and blocked his path.

A moment later, Jiwoo finished the emergency treatment and stood up.

The Antmen stepped aside, opening a path for her as she walked through.

“What the hell is this…”

After witnessing everything, Kang Jaegyu looked utterly bewildered.

But Jiwoo was just as confused herself, and she couldn’t properly explain it to him.

The thought of Gam124 nearly dying filled her with anger.

Still, she couldn’t say this was entirely Kang Jaegyu’s fault.

‘Can you really blame a Hunter for attacking a monster?’

He had only been doing his job.

She suddenly remembered something the Guild Master had once said.

“Monsters are monsters. There is no such thing as a good monster. Never forget that they are creatures that have slaughtered countless humans.”

To people, monsters were nothing more and nothing less than monsters.

No matter how much she tried to explain that the Antmen were different from ordinary monsters—that they were magical beings rather than monsters—it wouldn’t convince any Hunter.

‘If I had never met my guests, I probably would’ve reacted the same way.’

The same went for Kang Jaegyu.

He had spent half his life risking it against monsters. It was only natural that this situation made no sense to him.

‘What am I supposed to say?’

Jiwoo opened her mouth several times, only to close it again.

“Say something! Don’t tell me you’ve actually sided with monsters! You haven’t… right?”

“…I have.”

“What?”

“I have sided with them. I was the one who sent them.”

Kang Jaegyu stood there with his mouth hanging open before slowly regaining his senses.

“You… son of a—”

“I sent them to protect people if they were ever in danger.”

“How does that make any sense? Since when do monsters protect humans?”

“I know it’s hard to believe. But you saw it yourself.”

“Jesus… We’re not getting anywhere. Jiwoo. Do Jiwoo. Those are monsters. They’re not pets, you crazy—”

Apparently losing his temper, Kang Jaegyu raised his sword.

Before he could do anything, Oh Nara grabbed his arm from behind.

“P-Please stop.”

“What now?”

“Let’s… talk once we’re outside. Too many people are watching, and we don’t know when things might get worse.”

Only then did they notice the stares around them.

The earthquake had stopped, and people who had regained their composure were watching Jiwoo and Kang Jaegyu.

Jiwoo dismissed her Homeowner’s Guardian Squad skill.

The swarm of Antmen occupying part of the first floor vanished.

She looked at the stunned Kang Jaegyu.

“There’s an exit upstairs.”

“…An exit?”

“Yes. But I don’t know how long it’ll stay open. Please take everyone up there.”

Normally, a dungeon’s exit wouldn’t close while survivors remained inside.

But this dungeon had completely broken the usual rules.

Realizing there was no point arguing further, Kang Jaegyu turned around.

Oh Nara followed him, but glanced back at Jiwoo.

“Aren’t you coming, Ms. Jiwoo?”

“I’ll head up in a little while.”

“Oh… okay.”

Instead of leaving immediately, Oh Nara hesitated.

Then—

“U-Um, Ms. Jiwoo…”

“Yes?”

“You were the one who saved me, weren’t you? Thank you… and I’m sorry…”

Oh Nara lowered her head deeply.

Jiwoo smiled warmly.

“I only did what anyone should do. Don’t dwell on it. Hurry and get upstairs.”

“Okay. I’ll see you outside, Ms. Jiwoo.”

After even Oh Nara disappeared into the passageway, Jiwoo remained standing alone.

Instead of following everyone toward the exit, she activated a skill.

“Skill activated. [Come to My Home!]”

System

Skill [Come to My Home (SSS)] is available.

Would you like to travel?

Jiwoo didn’t regret asking her guests to help the people.

But the moment she left this dungeon…

She knew exactly what awaited her.

‘The guild will fire me, without question. Then I’ll be thrown straight into a Hunter detention center.’

What about my little brother?

What about the guests living in the Safe Zone?

Thinking about the family that depended entirely on her, she couldn’t bring herself to walk out.

Soon, she made her decision.

“Travel.”

A moment later, the empty room contained nothing but piles of collapsed rubble.

“Noona, what happened all of a sudden?”

“Did you pack everything?”

“Yeah. I just did what Dongsik told me.”

After arriving in the Safe Zone, Jiwoo met Heeseong.

Suitcases stuffed in a hurry were scattered around the house.

Right before heading down to the first floor of the dungeon, Jiwoo had used her Pet Skill to contact Dongsik.

It was to evacuate Heeseong from their apartment just in case.

“Why did we suddenly pack? Are we moving? Did you get fired from the guild? Or are we running away?”

“…Yeah.”

“…Huh? Which one?”

Jiwoo sank weakly onto the ground.

“All three. We’re going to have to go into hiding, Heeseong.”

“…”

Despite the bombshell, Heeseong remained surprisingly calm.

“How long do we have to hide?”

“I don’t know. For a while, I guess.”

“Will things get better eventually?”

“I don’t know that either.”

She had nothing to offer except, I don’t know.

Sometimes she’d jokingly say,

“If everything goes wrong, we’ll just live in the Safe Zone.”

She’d never imagined it would actually come to this.

With a sigh, Heeseong plopped down beside her.

“Well… things were going too well for us anyway. At least we still have a house. Don’t worry too much, Noona. Things will work out.”

Since when did he grow up?

Jiwoo stared at him in surprise.

Heeseong lay flat on the grass in the backyard.

“Ahh… life is so fleeting.”

“…Heeseong, did something happen?”

Could there really be a bigger problem than becoming fugitives overnight?

Jiwoo asked nervously.

In an unusually serious tone, Heeseong answered,

“It’s over.”

“What is?”

“The drama. Why Did Madam Give Cake to Her Secretary? It ended. I just watched the final episode.”

With the expression of someone who’d lost his country, Heeseong’s shoulders trembled.

“What am I supposed to watch now to give my life meaning?”

“…”

Jiwoo seriously considered smacking the back of his round little head.

In the end, she decided against it.

“By the way, Noona… where did Brother Kangwoo go?”

“Kangwoo…”

Jiwoo recalled what had happened in the dungeon an hour earlier.

“Jiwoo, I think it’d be best if you stayed in the Safe Zone for a while.”

“I thought so too… If people found out about the Antmen…”

“No. That’s not the problem.”

Silencing people would’ve been easy for Kangwoo.

The real problem was the mysterious man they had just encountered.

“From now on, more doppelgangers will start appearing. The fact that they revealed themselves to you means they no longer intend to stay hidden.”

“Then…”

He smiled gently.

“I’ll stop them. For your sake, Jiwoo.”

Kangwoo had promised he’d come back for her soon.

Until then, Jiwoo couldn’t afford to waste her time.

Whether by choice or by force, life as a fugitive would eventually come to an end.

When that day came, she had to be prepared.

Which meant…

“I don’t have time to sit around feeling sorry for myself!”

Jiwoo clenched her fist and jumped to her feet.

If she was going to be dragged around by circumstances anyway, she’d rather get up first and take the initiative—even if it meant causing a little chaos.
