Northern Castle.
In this terrifying Northern Castle, where monsters swarm in the morning, monsters swarm at noon, and monsters swarm in the evening—where every single day is a monster festival—there were people who were absolutely essential.
First was, without question, the Duke of Muvisk, Quayen, who possessed overwhelming martial power.
Second was the Saren Knight Order of Halbern, who had defended the Northern Castle for a long time (written as “defended,” read as “suffered like crazy”).
However, recently, the morale of the Saren Knights had hit rock bottom.
In a way, it was only natural.
Their so-called lord had dumped his knight order here and hadn’t even shown his face for several years,
they could no longer see cute young ladies,
and these battle-hardened veterans, who had spent over ten years rolling around on the front lines between life and death every day, didn’t even have a hobby to make their hearts burn with excitement!
And above all!
“Jaren, did you hear? What happened in the capital this time?”
“Yeah. I heard. The capital got wrecked by some strange phenomenon, and some weird crystal structure appeared, right?”
“They say it disappeared yesterday.”
“What? How did it vanish so fast?”
A few knights who had wanted to head down to the capital under the excuse of ‘helping if needed’ became gloomy.
“I thought this time we could finally escape the Northern Castle!”
“Ugh, I need some life-or-death thrills.”
This overwhelming sense of being left out, like every incident in the world always happened in the south.
That was what tormented the Saren Knights.
“So basically, the only things we ever get to look at are monster heads.”
Big incidents—like the disappearance of the Grand Duke of Halbern, Arellin’s death, the fake Halbern young lady impersonation case, Arellin’s resurrection (?), the Gairen incident, and even the recent events in the capital!
So many things had happened.
But because of the nature of the north, they only heard about these events long after they were over.
“An incident broke out!”
“Woooah, let’s go help!”
“They say the incident’s already been resolved.”
“Huh?”
That pattern repeated over and over, and the knights’ bitterness and sense of isolation only grew.
“Damn it, the most dangerous place should be the Northern Castle! Why isn’t it?!”
“Ahh, the world is excluding us.”
“No, we’re the ones excluding the world! We are!”
“Are you crying? Stop crying and explain it slowly.”
“Sniff! The truth is, I was really jealous of those guys in the capital.”
“It was better when our lord was grinding away with us here in the Northern Castle.”
“Yeah, just seeing our lord’s face makes things fun.”
At last, one of the grieving Saren Knights made a crazy suggestion.
“Hey, should we hunt another dragon?”
“…?”
“If we hunt another dragon, we can go back to the capital, right?”
“Ohhh. That’s a pretty tempting idea.”
Going beyond the Northern Castle into the extremely dangerous bottomless abyss was something no sane person would ever do. But to knights driven mad by isolation, it was a story that made their ears perk up.
That was when it happened.
“What do you mean ‘ohhh’?! The chairman of the <Dragon Protection Association> is standing right here with his eyes wide open—like I’d ever allow that!”
A man who loved dragons more than anyone else, Jaren, strongly opposed the idea.
“Dragon Protection Association? Oh, that thing. Jaren, you’re still doing that?”
‘Still doing it?’ Even though there were only three members so far, the Dragon Protection Association exists everywhere—”
“Only three members?”
The Saren Knights burst out laughing. They praised it as the funniest story they’d heard in a while, but Jaren was not happy at all.
‘If I told them that one of the members is a ten-year-old kid and another is an elderly grandpa, they’d laugh even harder.’
Ghk!
For the sake of the members’ honor, Jaren decided to go with an air of mystery. It definitely wasn’t because he didn’t want to be laughed at.
“Enough, you idiots. Anyway, no means no! I’ll oppose this until dirt gets in my eyes!”
“Hey, let’s throw dirt on him!”
“Wow, surprise event?”
“What is this, a Jaren live-burial event?”
He’d said one thing wrong and now was about to get buried alive.
‘I have no choice.’
Jaren fled!
“Hey, get him!”
“Damn it, why is that bastard so fast?”

The place Jaren ran to, to escape the Saren Knights, was none other than the watchtower.
Catching his breath at the top of the watchtower, Jaren thought about the Saren Knights, all of whom seemed a little unhinged, and wondered if it might actually be impossible to stay sane on this land.
And then…
“I think I really chose the wrong lord.”
As Jaren muttered with a sigh, a laugh came from behind him.
“You’re the one who fell for the promise of seeing a dragon.”
“Ah, brother.”
The Duke of Muvisk, Quayen, who had been out for a walk, stepped lightly to Jaren’s side.
‘Now that I think about it, he’s here—the only sane person in the Northern Castle.’
His own older brother, whom he would have served as lord if his nose hadn’t been led around by Valer.
‘Wait a second… does that mean even if I’d become my brother’s knight, I still would’ve come to the Northern Castle in the end?’
As Jaren shivered, trying to shake off the ominous feeling that he’d end up in the Northern Castle even in his next life, Quayen turned to his younger brother with gentle eyes.
“So, was seeing the dragon that good?”
“Ah, yeah. It was great. Even though I only saw it once.”
“Hm. I’d like to see a living dragon at least once before I die.”
“Do you think that’s so easy?”
Jaren said smugly.
“Dragons, you know—they’re not creatures that just show up so easily.”
Quayen laughed heartily.
“That’s true. I haven’t seen one even once during all the years I’ve spent here. Still, don’t let your guard down. The recent monster movements feel unusual.”
“They’re always like that, brother.”
Just when it seemed like the Northern Castle would pass another peaceful day—
“Sir Jaren, Sir Quayen!”
A steward came running in a hurry, calling out to the two of them.
“What is it, steward?”
“Well, you see…”
The steward spoke with a troubled expression as he caught his breath.
After hearing him, Jaren’s and Quayen’s expressions subtly changed.
“A guest has arrived…?”
As the two tilted their heads, the butler spoke the visitor’s name.
“Do you happen to know her?”
Jaren and Quayen looked at each other.
“Who is Chloe?”

Mehen tried “running away” for the first time in his life.
From the moment young Arellin appeared in the communication device, Mehen thought that no matter how high the pile of documents was, he had to drop everything and go at once.
The Halbern businesses that would be halted again once he left?
Why should he care? Arellin had become young again!
Of course, unlike some crown prince somewhere, he at least made the minimum preparations (?).
「Please take care of things after I’m gone, Dylan.
—Mehen」
Mehen himself hadn’t expected that he’d end up using the handover manual he’d prepared in place of a resignation letter like this, but still, isn’t it better this way?
The roughly forty-page manual he left behind with the note would help Dylan.
Of course, even after doing all that, his personal communicator was being flooded with calls like crazy, but Mehen cleanly ignored them.
After leaving Halbern like that, he entered the palace of Lemuren together with Pession, whom he met at the warp gate.
The two of them stormed into the Holy Kingdom’s palace as if they were about to smash someone, and in the very center of the palace, they came face to face with the one person who had made them come all this way.
“Arellin!”
“Huh?”
At the sight of Arellin lifting her head, the two of them clutched their chests and collapsed on the spot.
Their old selves died today. By facing true cuteness, they were reborn at last!

After casually ignoring mountains of documents and their own duties, Mehen and Pession rushed to Lemuren through the warp gate.
Standing in front of them after their long journey, Arellin looked sulky.
“Don’ touch!”
Arellin swatted away the hand reaching for her cheek with her tiny hand and glared at Pession. Her cheeks, puffed up with dissatisfaction, looked just like dumplings.
“But you’re just too cute.”
When Arellin was young before, Pession had been young too, so he’d only thought she was pretty. But seeing young Arellin as an adult was far more devastatingly cute than expected.
‘No, I did see her once before.’
That Arellin hadn’t remembered him, but this Arellin did, didn’t she?
“How on earth did you end up getting this young?”
Arellin made a teary face.
“A bad thing happened.”
Cursing her shortened tongue, Arellin carefully chewed her words and spat them out again.
“A. lot. of. things. hap. pened.”
“Ghk, yeah, it really does look like a lot of things happened.”
Pession barely held back his laughter, but Arellin was already glaring at him.
