“Why? Are you scared?”

“……Ria. What if the end comes again, like last time?”

As if trapped in the past, Aina mumbled and grabbed Ria’s hand.

“What if I fail again…….”

“You have me.”

“…….”

“Your guardian angel is right here. What are you worried about?”

Normally, she would never have said something so embarrassing.

‘I never thought I’d be the one to say it first.’

It made her cringe, but the effect was immediate.

Light returned to Aina’s eyes, which had been darkened by fear.

“There’s something I really need your help with. You’ll do it with me, right?”

“Of course!”

Fully back to her senses, Aina nodded enthusiastically.

“We’re going to use this to seal that hole.”

Ria waved an arrow made of holy power and continued.

“The odds are fifty-fifty. If our power is stronger, the gate will close. If not, we’ll be eaten by the monsters.”

After aiming carefully at the hole, Ria pulled back the bowstring tightly.

“Aina.”

At Ria’s call, Aina imbued the arrow with her own holy power.

The arrow, now filled with both of their powers, shot into the hole.

Fweeee!

The opposing forces swirled and clashed together.

The hole that had opened suddenly closed just as quickly.

“Ria, we did it!”

Aina jumped for joy, but Ria couldn’t relax yet.
There were still many monsters outside.

“Nathan, go help Mr. Dillian.”

“And you?”

“I’m going after him.”

Ria’s gaze locked onto Coma.

Meanwhile, in the midst of the chaos, Coma calmly walked toward Rexter.

“What a mess. You’re so filthy, I don’t even want to touch you.”

Despite the blatant insult, relief washed over Rexter’s face.

“Mmph! Mmmph! Mmmph!”

“You’re noisy. Really.”

As Coma removed the gag from Rexter’s mouth, a rough gasp burst out.

“Huff, huff. Why did you take so long to get here!”

Having been treated worse than an animal, Rexter raged in anger.

“Anyway, thanks. We’re still on the same side. Now hurry, untie my hands too—”

Thud.

Something sharp twisted inside his stomach.

Slowly, Rexter lowered his gaze at the strange sensation.

An arm.

“You…….”

“Same side? Don’t flatter yourself. You’re just a pawn.”

Coma sneered as he mocked the stunned Rexter.

Swoooosh.

The curse that had been transferred to Rexter was sucked back into Coma.

“Your usefulness ends here.”

Coma didn’t stop there; he began to steal Rexter’s life as well.

“N-no! No!”

Rexter struggled to pull away Coma’s hand, but he couldn’t grasp his life back.

“Stop, st……op…….”

The hand gripping Coma’s arm gradually withered.

Seeing the arm turn into something like a shriveled branch, Coma withdrew his hand.

With a thud, Rexter’s body collapsed.

Fshhh.

His body hit the ground and crumbled into dust.

“Phew, now I can breathe easier.”

Coma, purring with satisfaction, leaned back and stretched.

Slaaash—!

From his shoulder blades, black wings burst out.

The dark curse squirmed over his pale face, contrasting sharply.

His eyes, with even the whites turned black, gleamed as they swept the surroundings.

“Where are you?”

“Over here.”

Through the screams and roars, a clear voice pierced straight into his ears.

As he turned his head toward the voice, their eyes met.

“Ria……!”

In Ria’s eyes, calm like a still lake, a storm was rising.

She released the tightly pulled bowstring from her hand.

Thunk.

Ria’s arrow struck Coma squarely in the shoulder.

Immediately, a brilliant white light burst out, engulfing the blackness covering Coma’s face.

“What is this?! Mmph!”

[Stop hurting Ria!]

Thwack!

A small figure slammed into Coma’s face, blocking his view, and shouted.

[Ria doesn’t like Coma! So stop it!]

Because of the divine power that wrecked one of his arms and the sudden attack from the little one, Coma stumbled.

But only for a moment.

Quickly regaining his balance, Coma ground his teeth and tore the little creature off his face.

“You little traitor.”

[You’re the traitor! Why do you keep hurting Ria!]

“You were born from me and you dare reject me?”

His fierce glare bore into the creature, but it didn’t back down.

[I’m different from you. I want to protect Ria.]

“Is that so?”

Coma’s mood twisted at the creature’s steadfastness.

Even though it had been born from him, it dared to show a different will.
He wanted to crush it completely.

“Come back into my body. Then you’ll understand me.”

Creeeak.

Coma leaned back and opened his mouth wide.
The creature quietly let itself be taken, flashing a bright smile at Ria.

[Ria, see you again next time!]

Gulp.

Coma’s throat bobbed as he swallowed.

Grinding his teeth, he chewed down, trying to completely destroy his own creation, then wiped his mouth.

“Phew, so weak it doesn’t even feel like I ate anything.”

Clicking his tongue at the unpleasant aftertaste, Coma turned to the grim-faced Ria and twisted his lips.

“Ria, why that face? You liked it that much?”

Ria didn’t answer.

She was just counting in her head.

One.

“Ah, you want to kill me. But you won’t, will you?”

Two.

“Just give up already. If you take my hand, I’ll let all of them go.”

“Three.”

“Three? What three?”

Just as Coma frowned at her cryptic words—

Boom!

It felt as though someone were pounding directly on his heart.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

The slow heartbeat gradually quickened.

“Why, is this happening—kuh!”

Blood gushed forth.

Seemingly unable to comprehend the situation, Coma blankly stared at his blood-soaked hands.

“What is this…….”

At that moment, unfamiliar memories tore through his mind.

‘If you eat this, you’ll die. Are you really okay with that?’

[Blackie is on Ria’s side! A true comrade would give their life for their friends!]

*Blackie= 까망이 (Kamangi)

‘I’m sorry. For asking this of you.’

[Helping Ria is the best! I’m happy!]

Blackie joyfully leapt into Ria’s arms, smiling brightly. In contrast, Ria, with a sorrowful smile, pressed a kiss to Blackie’s forehead.

‘Please. Drag him out.’

The scene shifted.

Ria vanished, and Aina appeared in her place.

‘It’s ready. Once the darkness swallows you, the holy power will spread through your body. Are you alright? It’s a mix of Ria’s and my holy power. Does it hurt?’

[No, it’s warm. It’s gentle, like Ria. Aina is warm too!]

‘Maybe because you’re such a kind little one.’

[Aina is a good person too! So kind and gentle!]

‘Now go. Tear apart the darkness from the inside.’

As the conversation between Ria, the clone, and Aina played out, Coma finally grasped the situation.

‘Poison!’

His own fragment had betrayed him, turning into poison itself.

Now he understood why it had charged at him so fearlessly.

It had let itself be devoured—just to destroy him from within!

‘Damn it.’

The realization he had been tricked wouldn’t leave his mind.

His throat burned, and his heart throbbed painfully.

‘I have to vomit it out. Before the holy power spreads……!’

Just as he shoved his fingers into his mouth—

“Ughhh!”

Blood gushed from him.

“It’s too late.”

Because he had savagely chewed up Blackie in his rage, the holy power had begun to circulate faster than anticipated.

“Urgh, ugh!”

It felt as though molten lava were churning within him.

“Hurgh, hurgh. Hah, hah.”

Collapsed on the ground, Coma curled into himself, vomiting blood over and over.

“Hah, hah.”

Strength drained from his body. He couldn’t so much as lift a finger.

Ria approached the collapsed Coma and knelt down.

“Come out of Dante’s body.”

“If I—ugh—get forcibly expelled, you know his mind will shatter. Have you forgotten?”

“I know.”

“Then why are you still—ugh!”

“But tell me this—can you even touch Dante right now?”

Ria’s piercing question made Coma falter.

‘No way.’

He focused his mind, seeking the deeply slumbering Dante.

Just as he found Dante—

[Don’t come.]

A pure holy light shimmered around Dante, as if shielding him.

[It’s wrong to hurt little ones.]

The source of the holy power was Blackie, who had been consumed earlier.

[Get out of here!]

Seeing a part of himself acting against him to protect Dante sent a surge of fury through Coma’s mind.

“You, filthy—kuh!”

He coughed up more blood.

“You understand now, don’t you? Now come out quietly.”

Even if things went wrong and Dante’s mind suffered irreparable damage, there was no turning back now.

‘When that time comes, I’ll simply pray. Pray that the gods save this pitiful child.’

Ria, forcing her emotions back under control, quietly waited.

Waited for Coma to abandon Dante’s body.

She stared steadily at Coma’s impending death.

“Give up already.”

“Give up? Don’t make me laugh. If I can’t have it—”

Coma’s bloodshot eyes burned as they locked onto Ria.

“Then no one can!”

It happened in an instant.

“You’re coming with me!”

Coma lunged toward Ria, hand outstretched.

His half-destroyed black wings shot out like jagged thorns.

It was a vile attack, born of his refusal to die alone.

Thunk.

Drip. Drip.
The sound of blood hitting the ground was unmistakable.

Ria stared blankly at the broad back that had stepped before her.

‘Why… is Lord Dillian standing in front of me?’

Her stunned mind struggled to catch up with reality.

“Lord Dillian……?”

“Ria…….”

Cough.

Blood spilled from Dillian’s mouth.
