Possessor #2 Just Wants to Fangirl Chapter 43
Not long after Yeon Sora left,
The door burst open and Lee Hyorim came rushing in.
“Seoha, I heard! You decided to accept the savior?”
“Savior?”
“I told you! That there was a savior who rescued our Poppy!”
Lee Hyorim’s younger sibling had been at the scene of the awakening test incident a few weeks ago. The test site where the monster restraint device malfunctioned, no less.
She remembered struggling to console her friend, who’d fallen into a panic state saying she’d almost lost her puppy by a hair’s breadth.
The survival of her friend’s sibling was a miracle.
Because there’d been someone with a rare ability among the team members.
Lee Hyorim called that awakened person “savior.”
“Was Yeon Sora that Flame Mage back then?”
“You didn’t even check the General Forum?”
“I’ve been a bit busy lately. There’s talk about Yeon Sora on the forum?”
“Well, not really… But what field is the savior in? I couldn’t get any read on her at all!”
From the way she hurriedly changed the subject, there must be something. But that could be confirmed later.
“So, what’s our savior’s specialty? I was dying of curiosity!”
“Hypothetical scenarios.”
“Amazing! People interested in that field are seriously rare, aren’t they? So that’s why your face was so bright?”
“She told me some interesting stuff.”
Yoo Seoha summarized the terrorist incident Yeon Sora had imagined in a gentle voice.
It was an intriguing scenario.
Most people imagine combat inside Towers or dungeons, but to conceive of a group targeting Yeouido, considered the safest fortress in the country.
“Fascinating, right? Not just the idea of attacking Yeouido, but Devil’s Seeds! How did a freshman think to use such a rare item?”
“I know. She seems like an interesting kid.”
“I’m relieved! The savior’s reputation is so… her first impression wasn’t great, so I was worried.”
Yeon Sora was an unusual kid.
When she first entered the room, Yoo Seoha was startled by her statue-like face.
Her sculpted features were so flawlessly immaculate they felt almost artificial.
But more unusual than her appearance was her behavior.
Yoo Seoha remained silent at the start of every interview.
Without saying a word, she would simply observe how the interviewee reacted.
To apply psychological pressure.
You could glimpse a person’s true nature through their actions under pressure.
However.
Yeon Sora showed no reaction whatsoever.
One minute passed, two minutes passed—she didn’t open her mouth.
She didn’t even show signs of discomfort.
“A rare type.”
“Seoha, you thought so too? I also felt some extraordinary energy from the savior, but I can’t quite put my finger on how to explain it.”
“Me neither.”
Yoo Seoha deliberately smiled to hide her true thoughts. No matter how close a friend, she couldn’t reveal her unique ability even to Lee Hyorim.
Yoo Seoha could see the near future.
Feeling curious about the silent Yeon Sora, she’d tried using her skill.
But…
There was nothing.
Absolutely nothing could be seen.
Yeon Sora’s future was filled only with fog.
‘To meet someone like that again…’
Yoo Seoha had encountered people with this fog-type future before.
Precisely three people.
Two of them bore names everyone would recognize, people worthy of being called grand strategists.
Masters who’d reached the highest level of improvisation.
Without any preconceptions, accepting and reacting to information objectively as it appeared—Yoo Seoha theorized that futures couldn’t be seen precisely because of this.
‘A freshman… pulling that off?’
Practicing proper improvisation is difficult.
Humans inevitably view the world through the projection of their own desires and purposes.
She was shocked, wondering if a freshly enrolled student had already reached that level, when Yeon Sora suddenly made an unexpected move.
Heh—
She smiled.
The smile of a transcendent being that only someone who’d reached a distant peak could show.
But simultaneously, it was an extremely worldly smile.
A smile that seemed to mock—you’re in the palm of my hand, do you even realize this unbridgeable gap?
A smile that wasn’t satisfied with forcibly making someone prostrate, but trampled their head as well.
A smile that inflicted maximum humiliation on the observer.
A smile that struck the absolute pinnacle of emotional violence.
‘I shouldn’t fall for something like this, but…’
Curiosity activated more than displeasure, so she decided to accept the provocation.
— What’s your favorite among the Military Classics?
— Who’s your favorite grand strategist?
Yeon Sora’s response exceeded predictions.
She was a complete blank slate.
Not knowing what strategy was, what tactics were, or even the difference between them. She was at the stage of just developing interest and dipping her toes into this field.
In terms of knowledge, she hadn’t even taken her first steps yet… but in such an immature state, she’d conceived a scenario that thoroughly neutralized the impregnable academy.
‘Looking at her vocabulary, she clearly hasn’t read any specialized texts…’
That made it even more thrilling.
What would it feel like if someone who couldn’t read sheet music improvised and performed a masterpiece?
Or if someone seeing a triangle for the first time proved the Pythagorean theorem on the spot—it’d be similar.
Unlearned ability—pure talent.
Yeon Sora was… a genius in the tactical field.
“Seoha, shall we try creating something with the academy as the setting this year too?”
Lee Hyorim’s voice broke through her thoughts.
“The scenario Yeon Sora mentioned sounds interesting too. Should I commission a model from Shin Gwonwoo?”
“That would be good.”
“Knowing his personality, he’s probably already made an academy campus model, right? Funding might be an issue though…”
The Strategy and Tactics Club was an unusual organization.
Classified as a research club, it received separate research funding beyond regular club budget. In exchange, quarterly reports had to be submitted to the chairwoman.
“I’ll speak with the chairwoman. She’s not someone so inflexible.”
“That’d be great! We need money to really get things moving. The chairwoman’s on a business trip, right?”
“Yes, I’ll visit as soon as she returns.”
“Then let’s put expensive items on hold until then! Should we wrap up and go eat?”
“Just let me process this one thing.”
As she was organizing documents and about to leave the club room, Lee Hyorim suddenly whispered.
“Seoha, want to hear something creepy?”
“What?”
“There’s a rumor that Devil’s Seeds were stolen.”
A chill pierced through her spine.
The terrorist scenario Yeon Sora had described.
News that the main weapon used there was currently missing.
“I can’t say where… but apparently a request came in secretly to find the stolen seeds. If the thief sees the savior’s scenario, wouldn’t that be dangerous?”
Lee Hyorim’s information was always accurate.
She couldn’t tell what her friend’s ability was, but Yoo Seoha estimated it was hacking-related.
She never provided incorrect information.
“Quite the coincidence.”
“Right? The savior didn’t know when she said it, did she?”
“How could she know when even the identity of the group possessing the seeds is classified?”
Yoo Seoha barely managed to smile.
A new possibility was rapidly sprouting in her mind.
The people with fog-type futures Yoo Seoha had met so far numbered three.
Two were strategists skilled in improvisation, and the remaining one was Yoo Seoha’s older sister.
‘No way… right? That ability isn’t exactly common.’
Yoo Seoha had never once been able to read her sister’s future.
Because her sister possessed a special ability.
An ability beyond the axis of time.
Yoo Seoha’s sister was a foreseer.
* * *
“Sora, congratulations!”
“I heard it’s an elite group, but you got in right away?”
“A-as expected! S-Sora is amazing!”
“What are you going to do… I warned you so much…”
At news of the club acceptance, everyone except Lee Hyojun offered congratulations.
Meanwhile, I was busy wiggling my fingers.
‘I want to check… I’m dying to check!!!’
I desperately want to see the intimacy between my unnie and me, but I absolutely must not view it right now.
Because my unnie used <Preview> when saying our final goodbye.
That means she already saw the future of what will happen over the next hour.
If I check intimacy now and get overly depressed or jump for joy, it’ll look strange to my unnie.
For the next hour, I should think of a surveillance camera attached and behave properly.
‘Did future me check intimacy in the future my unnie saw?’
Probably not.
Then conversely, what happens if I check the intimacy window right now? Would the future my unnie saw in the past change? Is this a time paradox?
While I was thinking such nonsense, Han Boram suddenly clung to my arm.
“S-Sora. J-Junhwi asked if we want to eat dinner together…”
“Really?”
“C-can we all eat together? I need to stay by Sora’s side… I can’t leave… can we invite Junhwi too?”
“Of course.”
That’s what I said, but I’m actually very surprised internally.
The Han Boram from the original would’ve tried to monopolize Gyeon Junhwi somehow.
But right now her yandere transformation is on pause.
“Should we invite Gyeon Junhwi to the group chat too?”
“Try it now! And ask which restaurants we haven’t been to yet. Let’s break in some new places today!”
While the kids noisily debated restaurant choices, I looked up at the sky.
Beautiful, delicate orange sunset.
Not the blood-red sky I’d seen in last night’s dream.
Until this morning I’d been panicked and out of my mind, but now my head is clear and my confidence is overflowing.
‘I joined my unnie’s club, Han Boram is changing, and subordinate surveillance is going well! You’re doing great, Yeon Sora!!!’
As I sent myself encouraging words and turned my gaze, my eyes caught a shadow sliding smoothly across the club building rooftop.
Someone was on the rooftop.
I only saw for 0.2 seconds, but I know who it is.
There aren’t many people with such elegant silver hair, perfect proportions, and innate model-level height.
‘Why is Ki Hyeonmin there?’
Well, it’s not actually a restricted area, so being there is fine.
Ki Hyeonmin must have joined a club today too and came here.
But most clubs were holding recruitment booths on the first-floor auditorium.
Only one club conducted interviews inside the building.
‘Could he have… followed me?’
…But then laughter burst out.
What am I even saying?
My baby naturally likes high places.
In <On the Brink of Destruction>, there are exactly 134 scenes of Ki Hyeonmin looking down at the academy landscape from a bird’s-eye view.
Right, it’s a coincidence.
Ki Hyeonmin being on the rooftop.
The Strategy and Tactics Club room being on this building’s top floor.
