“The voice that came from his lips was colder than usual.”

Sensing the unusual atmosphere, I avoided Yves’s gaze and answered vaguely.

“I had something to take care of for a moment.”

The purpose of going out had been to meet Selene, but because I ran into Endymion in the middle, I glossed over it.

‘I don’t need to fan the flames in an already burning house.’

I didn’t want to bring up that name first and inflate Yves’s misunderstanding, especially when he was already under the ridiculous delusion that I had feelings for Endymion.

“You’ve been spending a lot of time with my brother lately.”

However, as if my efforts were in vain, Yves immediately mentioned Endymion.

It was as if he already knew I had met him just moments ago.

“You clearly told me you weren’t that close with my brother…”

Yves dragged out the end of his sentence and turned his head toward the window.

Normally, when talking to me, he would stare piercingly and persistently to observe my expression, which I couldn’t hide.

While I was feeling that strange sense of incongruity, Yves continued.

“And just now, the two of you secretly enjoyed a rendezvous without me knowing.”

“…!”

At the same time, I realized my mistake.

From the window of this room, one could look down at the central garden of the Papal Palace in a single glance.

Belatedly grasping the situation, I waved my hands wildly and firmly denied Yves’s claim.

“It was nothing like what Sir Yves is imagining! I only talked with Sir Endymion briefly because I had something to ask him.”

The silver eyes that had been gazing beyond the window turned back toward me, but a crooked smile hung on his face.

“How can you be so sure when you don’t even know what I’m thinking?”

“Whatever it is, I can make that assumption because the premise Sir Yves is starting from is wrong in the first place. Because I am not even slightly attracted to Sir Endymion.”

I stubbornly continued my rebuttal, paying no attention to Yves’s sarcasm.

“Look at my expression right now. Does it look like I’m making excuses to hide any feelings I have for Sir Endymion?”

My inability to control my facial expressions was one of my fatal weaknesses, but when asserting my innocence to Yves, it became the best weapon possible, so I used it without hesitation.

“…Well.”

However, contrary to what I had hoped, Yves’s reaction was lukewarm.

It was almost frustrating that he still couldn’t completely erase his suspicion, even though he knew better than anyone that I couldn’t lie.

“Why don’t you believe me?”

When I asked back in an aggrieved voice, Yves couldn’t answer right away and lowered his gaze to the floor.

“…Because love sometimes develops without the person themselves realizing it.”

After hesitating for a long time, he finally spoke. Listening to him, I unconsciously pressed my throbbing forehead.

I realized he was projecting his own experience onto me.

“Haa… That’s right. There are cases like Sir Yves, where someone realizes their feelings late.”

After taking a deep breath to calm my emotions, I continued.

It was so frustrating that I felt like I would burst, but getting angry here would obviously only make the situation more tangled.

“But on the other hand, there are also people who notice their feelings the moment they feel attraction. That’s how it was for me.”

However, I had deliberately turned away and suppressed those feelings because I didn’t want to develop them any further.

At the time, I had been certain that Yves liked Selene.

Swallowing the last sentence, I slowly approached Yves and continued trying to persuade him.

“Or shall I make a vow to the gods? I can do it right now…”

“No.”

As if worried that I might unconsciously make a divine vow and receive a stigma, Yves sharply rejected my proposal.

‘As expected, he’s only decisive at times like this.’

Since I had already experienced his personality once, I wasn’t particularly surprised. I was just frustrated that the way to convey my sincerity was blocked.

“Then tell me what kind of proof you want, Sir Yves. I’ll do anything.”

I gradually closed the distance and stood right in front of him, speaking confidently. Because I truly had nothing to hide.

‘In the first place, Endymion feels more like a boss at work.’

I was so upright that I could look up at the sky without a single shred of shame, so I deliberately faced Yves directly.

“…What did you talk about with my brother?”

After hesitating for a moment, he made a completely unexpected request.

Out of all the things he could ask, he specifically wanted to know the content of the conversation I had just had with Endymion.

“Th-that is…”

Startled by the unexpected question, I stammered and trailed off.

It was related to the original story, so I couldn’t tell Yves. Currently, Endymion had never encountered a dragon.

If I told him that we had talked about the dragon’s form, he would definitely find it strange.

‘I can give over a hundred reasons why I don’t see Endymion as a romantic interest…’

The longer I struggled to answer, the more Yves’s eyes sank into a murky darkness.

“Don’t tell me… Are you going to abandon me?”

“What?”

It was difficult to follow the suddenly derailed flow of the conversation.

“I gave my first everything to you…”

For a moment, I almost replied that it was the same for me, but I regained my senses. It seemed necessary to calm Yves, who had suddenly gone into overdrive.

“Sir Yves, I think you’re misunderstanding something…”

As I was about to explain, my field of vision suddenly spun.

It happened so quickly that I was bewildered, but I soon realized that Yves, who had been leaning against the window, had approached me and wrapped his arms around my waist.

“Or perhaps…… have you already grown tired of me? I admit I was clumsy because it was my first time.”

Pinning me against the wall, he pressed his body even closer and begged as if clinging to me.

The old Yves, who would turn bright red just from being a little too close, was nowhere to be seen.

I froze in shock at his unbelievable change. Yves, now so close that I could feel his breath, whispered softly in my ear.

“Please give me one more chance. Next time, I can do better.”

Questions like ‘Do what? Wait, here?’ flashed through my mind one after another.

There was no subject in Yves’s words, but the meaning behind them was clear.

‘Just a few days ago, he refused to even share the same bed, so what kind of change of heart is this?’

In truth, I had noticed that he was subtly avoiding skinship with me.

I had even resolved to take things slowly because I thought he was just awkward since he wasn’t used to contact with the opposite sex.

In contrast, the Yves I was facing now showed no trace of embarrassment at all.

‘No. This is more like…’

After carefully examining his face, I finally realized.

In Yves’s mind, the misunderstanding that I liked Endymion had become the truth, and he had made the enormous delusion that the reason I was tired of him was that his skinship had been clumsy.

‘But no matter what, isn’t this too much of a leap?’

I had barely managed to grasp Yves’s inner thoughts, which seemed to have skipped several steps in the middle, and swallowed the sigh that had risen to my chin.

There were many parts I wanted to point out, but for now, I pushed all the countless thoughts flooding my head to one corner.

Correcting Yves’s misunderstanding was the priority right now.

“Sir Yves.”

“…Yes.”

When I called him with a stiff expression, he answered in an even smaller, slower voice. The momentum that had seemed ready to crash our lips together had completely vanished.

‘Of course, that’s still very much like Sir Yves.’

Even while trembling in fear of being abandoned, he couldn’t bring himself to push aggressively.

“Sir Yves, I’ve told you many times, but the person I like is you.”

When I first confessed to him.

After seeing Yves constantly deny my feelings, I had made a resolution. If he couldn’t believe it, I would say it again and again until he did.

Without getting tired, without getting angry. Consistently. By his side, until he could feel completely at ease.

“I love you, Sir Yves.”

I cupped both of Yves’s cheeks and pressed my lips against his.

No matter what I said, it seemed it wouldn’t reach the current Yves, so I decided to show my sincerity through action.

As if his claim that he could do better if given one more chance wasn’t a lie, Yves’s tongue immediately invaded between my lips as if he had been waiting.

Then, without even giving me time to feel the soft sensation, it entangled roughly.

‘Why, why is he so good at this?’

I was the one who initiated the kiss.

Moreover, this was only the second kiss for both of us.

Yet somehow, by the time I came to my senses, Yves was naturally leading.

I tried to pull my body back in panic, but Yves’s hands were already wrapped around the back of my neck and my waist, leaving me unable to move.

Furthermore, he skillfully stimulated only the parts where I was most sensitive.
