The Irregular from Another Dimension (2)

The Irregulars from Earth—087 looked as if reptiles had undergone countless stages of evolution and eventually become humanoid.

If one had to describe them, the phrase “dinosaur humans” fits perfectly.

If Earth—104 was a world where mammals evolved and built a brilliant civilization, then Earth—087 felt like a world where dinosaurs evolved and created one.

“How many?”

Raklaz, an Irregular from Earth—087 and a member of the mercenary group known as Dragon Fang on Earth—001, asked as he looked at Drot, another Irregular from the same origin.

Drot, a small dragon-type (body length: 90 cm) with extremely developed hearing and vision, specialized in reconnaissance regardless of his awakened ability.

“Seems like just one… but their awakened ability looks a bit unusual.”

“One? A single guy is hunting trolls? Aren’t we asking for trouble if we mess with him?”

“It’s still just one guy. With your ability and mine combined, even an Irregular hanging around near the Fortress of Freedom won’t last a second.”

“Well, he’s not a ‘climber.’ No need to be scared of some Irregular just wandering near the fortress.”

Though they belonged to the Dragon Fang mercenary group, Irregular mercenary groups on Earth—001 were, in reality, both mercenaries and bandits.

Just as the fortress staff had said, Irregulars easily revealed their true nature outside the fortress… and aside from a few exceptions, most were desperate to hunt other Irregulars.

Those known as climbers, who mainly operated inside the Tower, rarely acted as raiders. They had little reason to.

But Irregulars who failed to become climbers had only one way to level up, killing other Irregulars, so they inevitably became serious about looting.

Some said they should risk their lives climbing the Tower instead, but from a raider’s perspective, looting had lower risk and more stable rewards, making dangerous climbing unnecessary.

“Then let’s do it like usual. I catch him, you kill him.”

Drot’s awakened ability was “Pier Hold.”

It emitted a high-frequency screech that froze the target in place for 5 seconds.

Raklaz’s ability was “Hellfire,” which allowed him to spew ultra-high-temperature flames from his mouth for 4 seconds.

Using this combination, they had killed countless Irregulars and looted them.

It didn’t work on high-level Irregulars, but against mid- or low-level solo targets, it was devastatingly effective. That’s why they always lingered near the fortress looking for prey.

“Same as always.”

They planned to loot, gain experience, and take spoils… just like before.

Drot, whose vision was sharp enough to read small text from 3 km away, was observing Seon Yul from afar as he hunted trolls.

The range of Pier Hold was 1 km.

Watching Seon Yul defeat a troll at range using a strange method and then walk toward the corpse, Drot decided it was the perfect moment.

Sssshk.

He quickly approached.

Dragon-types, the dominant species of Earth—087, varied greatly, but they all shared one trait: exceptional physical abilities.

Even those like Drot, specialized in senses, still possessed strong baseline physical power.

In comparison, humans, the dominant species of Earth—104, had no standout strengths.

Average physical ability.

Average intelligence.

Average mana talent.

Average psychic talent.

Everything was average.

Ironically, that very balance allowed them to become the dominant species across most dimensions.

Anyway, thanks to his physical prowess, Drot moved at incredible speed, comparable to enhanced magic users from Earth—104.

Papapapat!

He closed the distance in an instant, entering the 1 km range…

And before Seon Yul could notice him, he activated his ability.

“Kiiiiiiaaaah!!”

The high-frequency screech pierced straight into Seon Yul’s ears.

Ziiing!

It instantly froze the entire body by locking the muscles, immobilizing the target for several seconds.

It could last up to 5 seconds, though stronger targets resisted faster.

Against vastly stronger opponents, it might not work at all… so Drot always chose his targets carefully.

‘Got him!’

He believed this target would be frozen for at least 4 seconds.

In fact, even that wasn’t necessary.

Because behind Drot, Raklaz, who had been hiding, leapt forward, opening his massive jaws.

The moment Hellfire erupted, the target would turn to ash within a second.

Raklaz belonged to the T-Ract species, known for their massive heads and jaws.

When he opened his mouth, it resembled a giant crocodile’s maw.

And from it…

Blazing red flames poured out.

The fire swept violently forward, engulfing the space 100 meters ahead where Seon Yul stood.

To anyone watching, the combo looked perfectly executed.

But…

That assumption only lasted for a moment.

Tsutsutsut.

The instant the entrance to Absolute Space opened in front of Seon Yul…

And the Hellfire poured straight into it…

The raiders’ combination failed.

From the beginning, Seon Yul had never been affected by Pier Hold.

The effect of his equipment, “Helmet of the Rock Like Mount Tai,” nullified it with ease.

He had only pretended to freeze, to bait their next move.

And as expected, they attacked immediately.

Seon Yul effortlessly deflected it.

Now came the counterattack.

Chwararararak! Whirl—grrk!

Seon Yul fired Arachne threads, wrapping them around Raklaz’s neck.

“Ghk!”

Raklaz panicked at the unexpected failure and counterattack.

But dragon-type hide was extremely thick and tough… so the thread alone didn’t damage him.

He immediately tried to tear it off.

Seon Yul didn’t let that happen.

Grrrrrk!

“Kugh!”

Seon Yul tightened the thread.

The force was enough to snap a normal neck… but Raklaz endured thanks to his durability.

However, he could do nothing else.

Piiing.

Seon Yul pulled the thread sharply, launching himself forward.

Boom!

Using the momentum, he slammed into Raklaz.

Stagger—crash!

As Raklaz lost balance and fell backward…

Seon Yul opened an Absolute Space entrance along his fall path.

Tsutsut!

Naturally, over half of Raklaz’s body slipped inside.

Everything was proceeding exactly as planned.

And next…

Close the Absolute Space entrance.

Tsut—shrk!

A clean split.

In situations where the enemy’s abilities are unknown, this was the most reliable way to eliminate them.

Now, only one remained…

The small dinosaur-man who had screamed from afar.

After witnessing Raklaz’s effortless death, he immediately turned and fled.

‘Li Yu.’

Seon Yul contacted Cheon Li Yu via telepathy inside Absolute Space.

Tsutsut.

At the same time, he opened an entrance in the fleeing enemy’s path.

Catching a fleeing target was Li Yu’s specialty.

And for good reason…

BOOM!

A tungsten round fired from a railgun shot forward at extreme speed…

And erased the target instantly.

KWA-BOOOOM!

Railgun + Divine Eye + Target Lock.

This combination erased most enemies regardless of distance.

In an instant, the two raiders were eliminated instead.

Seon Yul checked his experience.

“…It increased.”

For the first time on Earth—001, his experience had risen significantly.

‘So killing Irregulars really does give EXP.’

He had heard it before, but this was his first time confirming it.

“What happened?”

Li Yu stepped out of Absolute Space.

“They were raiders. Guess we stayed in the troll hunting area too long.”

“So it’s true… only the good Irregulars stay inside the fortress.”

“Probably. And for those who don’t climb the Tower, this is the only way to grow… honestly, it’s the easiest way. Taking from others.”

It was a bitter truth.

Seon Yul believed Irregulars from Earth—104 would eventually become the same.

Even in their original world, many magic users had no hesitation about PvP.

Here, they would have even less reason to hold back.

“Let’s stop hunting trolls here and start figuring out how to enter the Tower.”

“Do you think the Tower is safe?”

“No way. Raiders will be there too. And the Tower is filled with even more dangerous monsters on every floor.”

“So nowhere is safe.”

“The only safe place for us is inside Absolute Space.”

“…True.”

Li Yu nodded.

Having finished their first unwanted PvP on Earth—001, they began cleanup.

They collected the equipment and items left behind by the two dragon-type Irregulars, and also took the troll corpse.

Then they returned to the Fortress of Freedom.

They had gathered enough troll blood.

Next, they would make healing potions and look for a Tower they could enter.

If possible, Seon Yul even considered sneaking into one.

So far, this was what they had learned about the Tower:

  1. The Tower is like an instance dungeon in a game.
  2. The final floor is always the 100th, and once cleared, the Tower disappears after granting a special reward to the first conqueror.
  3. Each Tower has different opening times and durations.
  4. Most Towers are strictly guarded or monitored by managing organizations.
  5. Entry requires permission from those organizations.
  6. Upon entry, you start from the last floor you previously reached.
  7. Each floor has a time limit; failure results in expulsion.
  8. Towers remain open up to one month, but time inside flows 4× slower, allowing up to four months inside. Also, Irregulars are immune to mana poisoning inside.
  9. Surviving four months records your progress for future runs.
  10. Each cleared floor grants rewards.

That was everything they knew so far.

They had most of the important information…

Except for the most crucial part:

How to actually obtain permission.

“Well… let’s pick a Tower and try our luck.”

And of course…

The best way in situations like this…

Was to face it head-on.
