Heavy Rain Chapter 1
It is a day when the sorrowful rain falls heavily, just like any other.
Haejin was lying face down with his hips held high. It was a difficult position where his hands were tied behind his back, forcing him to support his body with his shoulders. Lyle, gripping his tied hands like a handle, swung his hips violently. He did so without any regard for Haejin’s condition, as Haejin swallowed his moans back into his throat.
“Ugh.”
As soon as the rough lovemaking ended, Haejin was pushed out of the bed. Actually, saying he was “pushed” is quite a polite expression. Lyle had pushed him away with a gesture no different from someone casually tossing aside a used tool.
He did not expect anything like a tender touch from Lyle. The problem was that with both hands tied, he had no choice but to roll helplessly onto the floor. Today, too, Haejin grit his teeth at the sensation of the cold marble touching his cheek.
The sound of footsteps treading on the floor was heard a few times, followed by the heavy sound of water from the shower. Since his eyes were covered, he couldn’t know for certain, but given Lyle’s personality, there was a high probability he had left without giving a single thought to the state of Haejin, who was left behind.
Wriggling to try and push his body up somehow, Haejin swallowed a sigh inwardly. In this mansion, nothing changed even if one expressed dissatisfaction outwardly anyway. Therefore, he was used to swallowing sighs that resembled weeping deep inside.
There wasn’t any particular reason why he had to engage in relations in such a miserable state. Lyle was a person with a severe hatred for Omegas. Thus, he simply could not tolerate an Omega daring to grab or scratch him during sex. The blindfold was for a similar reason.
Being swung around like a doll in that manner was the entirety of sex as Haejin knew it. This, too, was a contract.
He tried to raise his body from the floor for a long while, but it wasn’t easy. As a Dominant Alpha, Lyle was extremely rough on the bed. Perhaps he was angry at the fact that he had to mingle bodies with a loathed Omega due to pheromone issues. Because of this, there were many days when his legs lacked strength after the tryst was over.
Today, he happened to fall the wrong way, and even his arm ended up twisted. In the end, after a futile struggle, Haejin lay on his side on the floor. No strength would enter his body at all.
This was a room dedicated solely to the two of them mingling bodies, and Lyle would leave through another door attached to the shower room once his business was finished. Thus, in the early days of the contract, there were many instances where he was left abandoned outside the bed all night long.
“Sigh.”
At that moment, the sound of the door on the other side—not the shower room—opening was heard. Along with it came the sighing voice of a servant. It seemed they had come in to check because Haejin hadn’t come out quickly.
“Fuck, seriously, how filthy.”
“…”
Just as the words they spat out suggested, the servant untied Haejin’s hands with irritation, as if disposing of something dirty. Then, they immediately stormed out of the room.
Haejin, twisting his lips bitterly at the familiar mistreatment, deliberately lowered his blindfold slowly. There was no need to go out of his way to look at that loathsome expression.
When he finally regained his vision after several hours, he was, naturally, left alone in the room.
As it always was.

Alpha is a trait that symbolizes superior genes. Among them, those carrying the Dominant trait even held outstanding beauty as a weapon. For that reason, in any country, Alphas often monopolized the upper classes of society. It was the same here in Heavy Rain City of Eltaju.
However, even for the Alphas who were superior in every way, there was one weakness. It was the fact that they had to discharge pheromones periodically. And an Alpha’s pheromone discharge inevitably required sexual activity with an Omega.
Because Haejin had originally been a Beta and manifested as an Omega at too late an age, he hadn’t received proper education regarding the traits. Therefore, he didn’t know exactly what kind of problem would occur if an Alpha couldn’t discharge pheromones appropriately. However, having experienced firsthand that Lyle became violent if they didn’t mingle bodies for a long time, he figured that this was indeed a necessary task.
Regardless, for an ordinary Alpha, it was a matter that would be resolved by meeting an Omega appropriately. However, for some reason, Lyle, who extremely loathed Omegas, sought an Omega to keep in the mansion to resolve his pheromone needs periodically.
It was Haejin, desperate for money, who accepted this humiliating contract.
Lyle Vermouth. The sole heir to the Vermouth family, which controlled the economy of this country. The city they were in, Heavy Rain, was also the location of the Vermouth family’s main grand mansion. And it was the place where Lyle Vermouth had hired Haejin.
As a Dominant Alpha, Lyle boasted a handsome appearance. His suit-clad figure, always boasting perfection, plastered various media outlets almost every day. An Alpha that not only Omegas but even Betas flocked to with admiring gazes. Because of this, his hatred for Omegas stood out even more anomalously.
Haejin, who managed to wash his body after returning to his own room, climbed onto the bed and curled up. It was a pheromone resolution that happened after several days because Lyle had been away on a long-distance business trip. Thanks to that, performing the contract today was an ordeal. He had been hammered so roughly that his legs were all tingly.
It had already been five years since he entered this mansion. Although Haejin called this space his room, he couldn’t feel it as a home to settle in. Consequently, his room was always desolate.
“…Hyung, I’m having a hard time.”
He tried talking to himself as if complaining to his hyung, who was no longer in this world. He should have acted more like a spoiled child when hyung was still alive; regret was always late, no matter how quickly one tried to grasp it.
This contract is clearly humiliating. Just as Alphas are superior, Omegas are a class that displays their genetic excellence just as much. Therefore, a contract that intended to use him as a tool for pheromone discharge whenever necessary was unreasonable.
But Haejin had to accept it. Because without the vast amount of money he received through this contract, he wouldn’t have been able to save his family.
It was just a common tragedy. The kind of accident that could hardly even earn a single person’s sympathy.
Haejin’s black hair and black eyes were not common in this country. Haejin, who was abandoned at an orphanage as soon as he was born, was unable to be adopted until he was over ten years old due to his distinctly exotic appearance. It was an age where one is forced to realize how difficult and cold-hearted the world is.
It was just as Haejin, starved for affection, was beginning to prepare to stand on his own. That was when his adoptive parents said they would adopt him.
The kind-hearted couple of the Bright family were people who had volunteered at the orphanage where Haejin was for a long time. Haejin had always been on their minds, and eventually, when an adoptive home wasn’t decided, they decided to take Haejin in themselves.
The time after the adoption was truly like a dream. Parents who scolded and cherished him like a real family, and a hyung he could rely on, though they occasionally fought.
Haejin’s name was something his adoptive parents had given him personally. He was presumed to be of East Asian descent, but his exact roots were unknown. Nevertheless, after searching hard, his parents gave him a name in the language of the country suspected to be his motherland.
‘They say Haejin means sunset.’
‘Since our family name is Bright, you are a person who always shines even after the sun has set.’
His family members had left him their impressions of the name with excitement. When he looked into it later, it wasn’t even proper grammar and was closer to being pieced together, but Haejin just let it be. It was because the fact that someone had given him a name made him very happy.
He shouldn’t have let it be back then. He should have asked them not to give him a name so full of light. Because now, far from shining, he was closer to an existence that was fading away.
To celebrate Haejin becoming an adult, the family was heading out in a car to eat when they met with a disaster. It happened in an instant when a truck driven by a drowsy driver struck the car they were in.
Hyung died while embracing Haejin. His adoptive parents barely survived but had been in a coma since that day. It was entirely through Haejin’s efforts that their lifelines, which the hospital had given up on long ago, were desperately maintained.
“Hyung, I’m really having a hard time…”
In a corner of the dark and suffocating mansion, Haejin fell into a deep abyss. Only after curling his body infinitely inside the blankets did rest finally find his exhausted spirit.
