Heavy Rain Chapter 35
The Butler’s voice flowed loudly out into the hallway, signaling that something was wrong. From a distance, it could be seen that Haejin’s door was wide open. Unlike that open appearance, a vague sense of anxiety surged. At the bizarre sensation, Lyle frowned and quickened his steps even more.
The servants, who were leaking snickering laughter while looking inside from outside the room, wore flustered faces upon seeing the sudden appearance of Lyle. They quickly bowed their heads to hide their expressions, but for some reason, the servant’s face that flashed by for an instant remained firmly stuck in Lyle’s vision.
The corners of the mouth tilted askew, eyes clearly containing the meaning of ridicule.
Lyle’s gaze, not yet having grasped the meaning, clung to the back of the servants’ heads for a long time. The surroundings flowed strangely slowly. His footsteps were still this urgent, but it seemed the passing time had decided to slow down on its own.
The moment he entered Haejin’s room and looked forward, Lyle quietly inhaled.
“I will report exactly what you have done. How… no, Master!”
“…….”
Because the sound of his heartbeat was so loud, he could barely hear the shouting of the Butler. His gaze remained fixed on Haejin on the bed.
On the tragically tattered Haejin.
Haejin, held by one side of his collar by the Butler, was fluttering on the bed like a paper doll. This was because the Butler kept shaking him back and forth while screaming. His appearance of having raised both hands as if he were suffocating was weak. His roughly thrown-on clothes were disheveled and messy, just like the night he had visited Lyle’s room.
On Haejin’s exposed upper body, there were plenty of the red marks Lyle had left behind.
“You have come at the right time. I mean, while cleaning today, I happened to find this in this room.”
The Butler thrust something toward him, but Lyle did not turn his head. The red marks on Haejin’s body spread like paint and encroached on his vision. It was as if Haejin’s room, decorated in bright pastel tones, had been entirely stained with gruesome blood.
Lyle walked forward with a thud, as if he were broken. His mind, which had clearly been beyond refreshing, had long since become a bloody mess. The fellow’s face was as red as the fever blossoms blooming on his body. It was an ambiguous face, as if one couldn’t tell whether he was suffocating or having a fever.
It was then. Haejin’s gaze, which had been fluttering dizzily here and there, turned very slowly toward Lyle.
Those eyes were empty, without even a hint of resentment.
“To think this fellow dared to do such a thing. He must be kicked out immediately… ugh, wh-why, why are you…….”
Lyle, who had reached the front of Haejin before he knew it, snatched the Butler’s arm that had been grating on him. At the fierce pressure applied as if to break it, the Butler quickly tucked his tail and let go of Haejin’s collar.
Like a fallen leaf in the wind, the fellow fell onto the bed without any resistance. Lyle, who shook off the Butler’s arm held in his hand as if it were dirty, caught him without realizing it.
As if looking at Lyle had been his last bit of energy, Haejin’s eyes were tightly shut. His jet-black eyelashes were fluttering irregularly.
And that body held in his arms was like a ball of fire.
“Master, if you are perhaps feeling any discomfort…….”
“……Call.”
“Pardon?”
When he heard the stupidly questioning voice, he felt the sensation of something snapping in his head. He barely turned the gaze he had kept fixed only on Haejin toward the Butler. Now, Lyle felt the red color that had encroached on his entire vision deepening uncontrollably.
In accordance with his fluctuating emotions, the pheromones that poured out explosively filled the room. It was a thick wave that even Beta people reflexively felt a chill from.
“Call the doctor! Right now!”
“Y-Yes!”
At his rage-filled shout, one of the servants standing by the door ran out. The others were looking at Lyle, frozen as if this situation was utterly unexpected.
Lyle could not understand that reaction. Unexpected. What on earth were those reactions, thinking it surprising to call a doctor, on top of having watched Haejin as if he were a spectacle?
However, contrary to his confusion, his heart was steadily plummeting toward the floor. The weight of the limp Haejin was so light that it was instead weighing down on Lyle enough to suffocate him.
“What on earth are you all doing right now.”
He finally let out a suppressed voice to resolve the question, but his question only circled the room hollowly.
Unlike the pheromones he was fiercely emitting.
A suffocating silence dominated Lyle’s study. The secretary, who had been urgently summoned to the mansion, had been feeling a stinging sensation on his skin for a while now. Since he, a Beta, could feel it, the Alpha Butler must be at a point where he was practically suffocating. As proof, the Butler standing in front of the desk had a face as if he were being strangled.
Normally, Lyle was someone who managed his pheromones thoroughly down to a single strand. This was proof that his mood was extremely unpleasant at this moment. It was the first time since his uncle had attacked Lyle, even going so far as to tarnish the name Vermouth.
The sound of tapping on the desk was very consistent, contrary to those savage pheromones. Because that sound, ringing without a hint of error, was so consistent, the secretary thoughtlessly deemed it more hair-raising.
By the way, is what the Butler said true? The secretary’s gaze turned toward the small bottle Lyle had been glaring at for a while.
“Say it again.”
“That… it was found, ahem, in that Omega fellow’s room. They say it was hidden, cough, in the corner of the bathroom. ……I know from hearing around, it is definitely a heat cycle inducer.”
The Butler, who had been stammering as if strangled, finished his words quite resolutely at the end. He even tried hard to straighten his back as if he were undeniably proud of himself for discovering it. Of course, in the eyes of the secretary standing beside him, it was a futile act.
Lyle’s gaze remained nailed only to the small glass bottle.
“Did Jin have the time to obtain something like that?”
Lyle, who had been silent again, asked abruptly. At his question, the Butler’s face turned red again. After agonizing for a while, he answers in an unconfident voice.
“That is……, even regarding that, I am not sure.”
The moment he heard that answer, the finger that had been tapping the desk hair-raisingly stopped dead.
“Leave.”
“Yes. That Omega fellow is…….”
“Leave. Leave Jin as he is.”
“……Yes.”
The Butler asked in a somewhat urgent voice, but Lyle only gave a cold command. The Butler, bowing his head, hurried out of the room as if he were glad to escape the pressure of these pheromones.
According to the Butler’s words, Haejin had taken that heat cycle inducer himself and headed to Lyle’s room. When the secretary threw out a question as to why Haejin would do such a thing, the Butler said triumphantly, as if it were obvious, that the goal must have been pregnancy.
It was something that did not make sense no matter how many times he heard it. However, the medicine bottle was discovered in Haejin’s room as clear evidence. There was also the testimony of a servant who said they saw Haejin secretly heading to Lyle’s room in the middle of the night.
Did Haejin, who was suffering from trauma, do such a thing so that he could rather lose his senses and fulfill the contract?
“…….”
It was suspicious. It was simply not convincing. After Haejin returned here, the speck that had settled inside Lyle’s eyelids now grew its presence as if it would devour his eyes.
In any case, he had intended to tell the Butler to straighten up his attitude as soon as day broke. However, was the event that happened last night not too far beyond expectations?
That Haejin truly, swallowed that with his own hands?
“What shall we do, Mr. Chairman?”
“…….”
The secretary’s gaze was also continuing toward this medicine bottle. As if he, likewise, could not understand. And there was one more part that Lyle could not understand.
Why does the Butler, not know Haejin well?
