The consecutive status windows were enough to make his eyes ache.

Clearly, he had entered the dungeon alone. He had even been asked at the entrance if he “came alone,” so there was no way he could be mistaken about that.

However, another Hunter already existed here. Apparently, they had even finished the clear in that short interval and received the rewards.

As proof of the dungeon clear, the sky was splitting apart and radiating light. Looking back at the path leading to the exit, Gong Siyoung bit his lip.

“What on earth is this?”

Is it a bug? I’ve never heard of a bug like this.

He rummaged through the status window, but further information was hard to come by. Since the boss monster had disappeared, the dungeon would either close soon or, if luck was bad, it would regenerate. Either way, there wasn’t much time left.

After a moment of deliberation, Siyoung moved his steps in the opposite direction of the entrance. Bug or not, since he was already here, he needed to verify the identity of the cause.

As expected of a fire-attribute dungeon, the further he went inside, the more the air was filled with heat. He could smell the thick scent of dust unique to dungeons and see ash fluttering in the air. Siyoung pulled up the hood attached to his Hunter uniform.

Now that the boss monster was gone, it was certain that the remaining monsters would either vanish or be on the verge of vanishing. Even so, it was too early to relax. His pace as he looked around the surroundings gradually quickened.

While walking and checking the entry time, a human figure appeared from the opposite side.

At first, he thought it was a monster. There was no way a human would walk so leisurely and idly inside a dungeon. The gait itself was somewhat dry and strange.

Siyoung calmly activated a skill.

“…What?”

Even though it was clearly a person existing before his eyes, he couldn’t learn anything. Nothing was identified other than the skill granted as a reward a moment ago.

He pulled his hood down further to hide his anxious mood.

‘Did he hide it with a unique skill?’

Even if so, something was strange. If a skill had been used, it would be correct for the information to be hidden or displayed as ‘Deleted.’

However, all he confirmed was the strange phrase ‘Unknown.’

No matter how he looked at it, it was suspicious and questionable. Whatever that man’s identity was, it definitely wasn’t a good sign.

Siyoung, instinctively creating an ice spear, aimed it at the approaching man. At the aggressive stance, the man flinched and came to a halt.

Neither the man nor Gong Siyoung opened their mouths first. While they exchanged glances while wary of each other, Gong Siyoung’s doubts deepened further.

He had a youthful impression, appearing to be in his early twenties. Contrary to such a face, his height was quite tall, and his body was solid overall.

Is he the type who uses his body? Looking only at his face, they don’t really match well…

I thought he had green hair, but that wasn’t it either. He had white hair close to silver, and green blood was thickly smeared and hardened on it.

He didn’t know what the man was doing walking around with monster blood smeared on him like that, but it was nauseating just to look at.

The eyes set into his small, pale face brought sapphires to mind. It was a handsome appearance rather than a pretty one, and he gave off a somewhat unrealistic atmosphere. He didn’t seem like a living person but more like a character in some game.

Furthermore, he was holding a long greatsword in one hand. Blood that hadn’t hardened yet dripped from the blade.

Perhaps that man’s unique skill was related to the sword. Siyoung opened his mouth without taking his eyes off the sword.

“State your affiliation and name.”

The danger signal was clear. Gong Siyoung raised his spear as a warning. The man, who had been letting his sword hang, raised his eyebrows.

Diverse emotions flickered across the man’s face. Curiosity and doubt, mixed with joy and surprise, and… relief?

Whatever it meant, the man looked extremely glad and excited. It was to the point where one might think that skills weren’t even necessary if his thoughts were revealed on his face to that extent.

Contrary to the idle thought, the tip of the spear aimed at the man shone sharply. He warned again.

“State your affiliation and name.”

The man hesitated for a moment, then dropped his sword onto the ground with a thud. His fingertips, which he raised high as if surrendering, fluttered incessantly.

“Wow, this is really fascinating. No, this is clearly a language I don’t know, so why do I understand it? Oh, I’m speaking well right now, aren’t I? What kind of harmony is this?”

Words poured out in a rush, making one wonder how he had held it in until now. At the flighty way of speaking, even the tension that had barely remained shattered into pieces.

“State my affiliation and name? Wow, how can I hear this? The things you’re saying are coming straight into my ears!”

Even while chattering brightly, his attitude was clear. The man actively appealed that he had no intention to attack and placed his palms against the back of his head.

The way he flopped down onto his knees was natural beyond words. The fact that he was so accustomed to it, like a person who had surrendered often, was somehow suspicious.

Gong Siyoung’s gaze became a bit sharper.

‘Is he a crazy person?’

Even among Hunters, crazy people existed quite frequently. Those who wanted to meet monsters just one more time, or wanted to kill one more, so they snuck into dungeons, or those who infiltrated for the purpose of looting behind the Bureau’s back.

Did that man sneak in aiming for something like that, too?

“As for affiliation, well, this is a bit complicated. You could say the Iberium Empire, but strictly speaking, I wasn’t born there. I have to figure out if it’s the maternal or paternal line… If it’s the maternal side, I was born in the Eastern Continent, and if we count the paternal side, I was born in the Kingdom of Kalian, but it’s actually not certain. So for now, I wonder if it would be an answer to say I belong to the mercenary group of the 1st Battalion, 81st Monster Subjugation Brigade?”

He couldn’t understand more than 90% of the words pouring out in a chatter. He understood the words or sentences, but it was hard to grasp the meaning itself.

Leaving aside unfamiliar place names like the Iberium Empire or the Kingdom of Kalian, what was this talk about a monster subjugation brigade?

‘Is he really a nutjob?’

He tapped the ground with his spear to signal him to stop talking. The man, who noticed the chilly gaze as if he had some sense, quickly shut his mouth.

“Your name?”

“Julian.”

An ordinary name flowed out in an ordinary way. Siyoung, mulling over his name, intercepted the sword fallen on the ground.

It was heavier and colder than expected. Looking closely, the entire blade was soaked in blood.

“Did you handle the boss monster?”

“What’s a boss monster?”

Julian tilted his head. His blue eyes moved toward the sword Siyoung was holding like a staff.

Julian, his lips twitching, spoke cautiously.

“But that sword, you shouldn’t prop it up like that.”

Simultaneously with those words, the center of the blade shattered with a crack. The startled Siyoung reflexively used a freezing-type skill. Then, the sword that had broken into two pieces froze over in mid-air with a crackle. The sword, now a lump of ice, fell to the ground with a dull thud.

“Wow.”

Julian’s eyes went round. His gaze as he looked at the sword rolling on the floor was full of admiration.

“Suddenly, just like that, you freeze my sword?”

It was an ambiguous exclamation, somewhere between being surprised or sarcastic. The flustered Siyoung looked down at the lump of ice that was once a sword.

As if reading the signs of embarrassment, Julian spoke in a nonchalant tone.

“It’s okay. It’s not like you broke it. I already broke it while splitting a Hellhound’s head earlier.”

“Hellhound?”

“Yeah. There were a hell of a lot of them over there.”

A neat finger pointed accurately in the opposite direction of the entrance. If one went that way, it would be the center of the dungeon, and if so, then surely…

“Are you talking about the boss monster?”

“No. I told you it wasn’t a boss monster, but a Hellhound.”

“So I’m asking if that was the boss monster.”

“I told you no. It wasn’t a boss monster, it was just a Hellhound. The kind that moves around in swarms.”

“So that’s the boss… Sigh.”

He stopped talking mid-sentence and just shut his mouth. There was no answer even if they bickered like this. Siyoung, glaring at the stupid face, slowly approached his side.

He didn’t seem to have the intention to attack, but he never knew. While grasping the man’s hand, he summoned the system notification window. Julian just stared with wide eyes, regardless of whether his hand was grabbed or not.

“What are you doing? Why the hand all of a sudden?”

Julian tilted his head, looking alternately at his grabbed hand and Gong Siyoung. At the stupid and restless reaction, Siyoung let out a warning sound with his mouth, Tsk.

“Be quiet for a moment.”

Originally, even if one could see another person’s log records, it was etiquette and manners not to look. But was this the time to be polite?

Seeing as the other side wasn’t pulling his hand away, couldn’t it be considered a mutual agreement? Siyoung, who made a judgment as he pleased, quickly activated a skill.

“…What is this?”

The pattern repeated to the point where he wondered if it was an error. Every time the unknown skill was used, the boss monster invariably took a critical hit.

There was nothing more after the final record of death shortly after.

It was a strange record, to the point where it couldn’t even be considered a log.

‘Combat Analysis’ was an A-rank skill, even if it looked simple. Depending on the target, there were restrictions, but it should have been possible to confirm the level or name of the skills.

However, the records visible now were useless. Because he couldn’t learn anything other than the fact that it was ‘Unknown.’

It was so absurd he found it ridiculous that such a case existed.

He figured there was nothing more to see. It wasn’t just strange; it was diversely strange in all sorts of ways. What kind of trouble was going to happen if he just let someone like this loose?

Gong Siyoung fastened handcuffs made of ice onto the man’s wrists.

“Ah, cold!”

The startled Julian let out a scream. He made a fuss over his wrists, which were starting to freeze solid.

Regardless, Siyoung calmly grabbed Julian by the collar.

“I’m going to have to ask you to come with me.”
