It was a small room with a kitchen attached. There was a wardrobe on one side of the wall, and a small refrigerator stood next to it.

The captain, blocking Julian as he peeked around the room, abruptly held out his hand. Julian looked at Gong Siyoung. Realizing who the financier was, the empty hand turned toward Gong Siyoung.

Gong Siyoung fumbled through his pocket and pulled out 20,000 won. Only after he placed the 20,000 won on the palm was the path forward opened.

“Don’t be late; come to the shop at 2:00. That is when we will depart.”

With those words, the door closed. Julian quickly entered the room. He was busy touching this and that, as if everything was so fascinating. Gong Siyoung started by tidying up the messily scattered shoes.

Meanwhile, Julian was inspecting the inside of the sink. After rummaging through various things, he discovered a water bottle in the refrigerator.

“He said there was nothing, but there is water at least. Do you want some water?”

Before he even heard an answer, Julian grabbed a bottle. Even though the refrigerator was small, it seemed to function well, as the water was cold. While Julian looked for a cup, Gong Siyoung crouched down with his back against the wall.

“Just a moment. I will make one phone call.”

The dial tone rang a couple of times. A moment later, Gong Sijin’s voice could be heard faintly through the phone.

Listening idly to the conversation discussing the schedule, Julian poured water into a cup. He handed the water cup, filled to the brim until it nearly overflowed, to Gong Siyoung. He took the cup with one hand.

“Uh, right. They say the boat will sail at dawn tomorrow. Well, I don’t know about that. I should try to hurry as much as possible.”

Having finished his tour, Julian sat down side-by-side next to Gong Siyoung.

Since they were departing at dawn tomorrow, they had plenty of time. Lunch was one thing, but what should they do for dinner?

With the weather like this, it was burdensome to go anywhere. Even now, thunder struck with a bang, bang!

“Got it. Then bring it tomorrow on time. Yeah, that would be faster.”

The call ended quickly. Holding the phone as the room became quiet, Gong Siyoung let out a deep sigh.

“Hunter Park Ildo will join us as well. Since there is no time to go back and forth, he is bringing the Return Stone materials with him.”

The original plan was to persuade Hunter Kim Myungja and bring her directly to the Yeollak Guild… but because the schedule was delayed by a day, time was tight.

The Return Stone materials were being kept inside the Yeollak Guild. Even if they made it immediately, it was uncertain whether they could finish it in time for when the raid resumed.

Even that was only possible under the premise that Hunter Kim Myungja acted cooperatively.

“Everyone is busy here and there. It would have been nice if the weather had some tact.”

“I agree.”

The hand rubbing his forehead lacked strength. If it was going to be like this, there was no point in starting early. In a situation where every minute and second was precious, he was about to blow an entire day, so there was no way he could be in a good mood.

His throat felt parched because the schedule was tangled. Gong Siyoung gulped down the water. Only after emptying the cup to the bottom in one go did he belatedly notice the taste of the water. He frowned while looking at the bottom of the empty glass.

“Is this water?”

Sniff, sniff. He tilted his head while smelling it.

“Is it not water? It was inside that bottle.”

Julian pointed to the plastic bottle he had left on the sink. Transparent water sloshed inside it.

Wondering what the problem was, Julian snatched Gong Siyoung’s cup. Sniff, sniff. He tried smelling it, but it didn’t seem particularly strange.

“Is it water?”

“Why? Does the taste seem strange? Is it like that Gorosoe sap from earlier? That also looked like water but tasted sweet.”

“I don’t know.”

Julian tilted his head. Intending to check properly, he went to the sink and brought the water bottle. He opened the cap and took a slight sniff, but he was unsure.

He poured water into the cup again. After checking the sloshing water, he took a sip. Julian blinked his eyes.

“That is strange? It is clearly water, so why does it taste like alcohol?”

Just in case, he drank it once more. It was water, but the aftertaste was strangely bitter.

“Did someone mix alcohol into the water?”

He inspected the plastic bottle here and there. No matter where he looked, it was an ordinary water bottle that said “Drinking Spring Water.”

“If I drink it one more time…”

He subtly smacked his lips and moved them toward the bottle. Gong Siyoung quickly snatched the bottle and hid it behind his back. Julian’s eyes, full of lingering attachment, moved along with the bottle.

If I had known it would be like this, I would have tasted it first. I think I could have finished that whole thing while pretending it was water without him noticing… To have his lips merely moistened tantalizingly and then have it taken away made him feel even more regretful.

“Why is… alcohol here.”

The face with a scowl was somehow subtly different from usual. His earlobes gradually grew hot and red, and before long, even his neck turned red.

Julian tilted his head with a face that said “No way.”

“Are you drunk?”

No way, could he be drunk? It seemed closer to water than alcohol. No matter how big the cup was, would there be someone who gets drunk just by drinking one glass of that?

Besides, Gong Siyoung was an S-class hunter. Not anyone else, but an S-class hunter who was supposed to be the best of the best—there was no way he would get drunk from drinking just that little bit.

“Why would I be drunk.”

Gong Siyoung suddenly turned dead serious. His cold expression was so resolute it was almost determined. Julian nodded his head, thinking “Of course.”

“Right, where would there be a person who gets drunk after drinking that little bit…”

Gong Siyoung grabbed the plastic bottle. Before Julian could stop him, he gulped it down straight from the bottle.

About half of it flowed down his lips, and he swallowed the other half with a gulp. Only after emptying the whole bottle did he pull it away with a kwaa.

“Shouldn’t one drink at least this much to get drunk? But I am not drunk. I am not drunk at all. I mean, I am not drunk. I told you I am not drunk? I am not drunk in the slightest.”

The typical response of a drunk person, repeating the same words, followed.

He wiped his wet mouth with the back of his hand. His cheeks, his earlobes, and even his whole face turned bright red.

He repeated the words “I am not drunk at all” for the twelfth time with his eyes wide open. The empty plastic bottle fell to the floor and rolled away with a thump, thump.

“You are drunk…”

So a person can get drunk even after drinking that. Julian, having gained a new realization, let out words that were either an exclamation or a groan.

— It is because he is drunk. When he gets drunk on alcohol, he stubbornly insists on drinking things he can’t even handle.

“Aha…”

So he really is drunk. Julian shifted the phone to his other hand. He rolled his eyes toward the weight pressing heavily against his back.

“Uh, by any chance, does he have any other habits when drunk?”

— He does. Isn’t he doing it right now? He tends to cling a lot.

As if he understood Gong Sijin’s words, the force pressing against Julian’s back grew a bit stronger.

Beyond just clinging, Gong Siyoung, who was stuck tight, rubbed his lips against the nape of Julian’s neck. Every time he did, his hot body heat made direct contact.

“You are right… he is doing that right now.”

— Take a video and be sure to show it to me later. It is a very rare scene. Siyoung knows his drinking habits are strange, so he usually won’t even touch alcohol.

“I get that, but… there aren’t any other habits, right? Other than looking for alcohol and clinging, he is fine, right?”

Can a kid lose his mind this much after drinking a bit of watered-down alcohol? Teasing is only fun when it is at a level where you can laugh; when someone changes their attitude to that extent, even laughter doesn’t come out.

Julian slightly pushed away Gong Siyoung, who was rubbing his cheek against the nape of his neck.

“I am a bit worried. The kid has gone completely strange… If I just leave him like this, is it true that he will return to normal?”

— He will keep doing that for a while and then fall asleep when he gets tired out. Just endure it until then. Ah, and watch out for your lips.

“Lips? Why the lips?”

— He rubs his lips a lot, too. Seeing that, it almost seems like he has an affection deficiency.

Hardly had those words ended when the back of Julian’s neck was yanked. His head was tilted back tightly.

Because he was startled, he ended up dropping the phone he was holding. With a clatter, the phone rolled across the floor.

Julian hurriedly blocked his lips with his hand. An contact that was either a kiss or a headbutt hit the back of his hand. Staring at the hard back of his hand, Gong Siyoung grumbled.

“Why are you blocking it?”

Julian momentarily lost his words at the provocative question. He just blinked his eyes while still covering his mouth.

‘Is he really… crazy?’

He wanted to demand why the hell he was acting like this. He had a lot to say, but he couldn’t easily lower his hand. He felt that if he lowered it, he would be subjected to a direct lip-butt.

Like a beast stalking its prey, Gong Siyoung narrowed his eyes. He tapped the back of Julian’s hand. His gaze, full of a clear sense of purpose, was sharp, unlike that of a drunk person.

“I asked why you are blocking this? Why are you not answering?”

Julian shook his head while keeping his mouth tightly covered. After staring for a long while, Gong Siyoung grabbed Julian’s chin.

He pushed Julian’s body toward the wall so he couldn’t run away. His face was so close that their breaths touched.

“Don’t just keep your mouth shut like that; try saying something.”

Exactly what? What do you want me to say?

Julian was someone who didn’t get flustered by most things, but not right now. Anyone would be flustered if they watched Gong Siyoung’s crazy antics from right in front of their nose.

The tips of their noses touched—tap. Gong Siyoung, tilting his head sideways, let out a deep breath—phew. Because of the breath touching his cheek, Julian felt a tickle down to his toes.

“Hey… I think you are very drunk right now.”

Julian mumbled while keeping his mouth covered. His pronunciation was muffled, but even so, he had no intention of taking his hand away.

“Calm down a little and try moving aside for a second first?”

Wouldn’t that be good for you, and good for me? Julian whispered as gently as possible.

Nothing good would come from provoking a drunk person. Moreover, what kind of conversation could one have with someone who had lost their mind like that? Right now was a time to just overlook it and coax him softly.

“If you are stuck too close, it is a bit… stifling. Shall we move back just a little, just a tiny bit?”

Since there was no proper place to run, he had to separate from Gong Siyoung first to escape this situation. He whispered softly and appealed with his eyes.

‘Siyoung… just how much are you going to regret this later to be doing this?’

Gong Siyoung, whose thoughts were impossible to read, half-closed his eyes. He stared for a long time at Julian’s hand, which still covered half of his face. He tilted his head as if he had made a decision.

“Then I will just do it like this.”
