“H-hide……!”

The red gas mask took Ahin and went inside a nearby hospital room. The boys followed suit in a rush.

I slipped out of Ahin’s embrace and took out my spaceship.

Then, getting into the box that had returned to its original size, I began flying straight towards the roof. My brother stuck close to the back of my head, his tentacles fluttering.

Cha Haeeon and Captain Gong Juwon yelled from behind.

“Where are you going!”

“Jelly-nim!”

But there was no time to answer them.

My heart pounded.

The higher I went towards the roof, the stronger the vibration in my chest became.

It meant I was getting closer to a Quasar guild member.

I glanced briefly at my brother’s tentacles wrapped around my neck.

My brother was a ‘Calamity’.

And Ahin said the thing on the roof was a ‘Calamity’.

Most importantly, this plush keychain found on the roof.

If so…….

‘What if…!’

Still inexperienced at driving the spaceship, I clattered around the corner and popped out onto the roof.

Wooooooong—.

A sound like a ship’s horn vibrated in all directions.

The sun hadn’t set yet, but it was getting dark outside.

Because the sun was obscured.

‘It’ was massive enough to cover the entire sky above the general hospital.

The enormous mass was slowly but surely passing over the hospital, as if swimming through the sky.

It was a whale flying through the sky with its giant fins.

‘If Quasar became a Calamity…’

I lifted the badge upwards. The badge vibrated even stronger as it got closer to the Calamity.

If so.

‘I can meet Unnie and Oppas again!’

Tears welled up in my eyes.

Wooooooong—.

‘It’ moved forward, letting out a long cry.

I clutched the plush keychain tightly.

This plush keychain’s name was ‘Do Kyeol’.

It was a Quasar series plush that Bora Unnie made, modeled after the guild members.

Since it was a limited edition, the plush’s brand tag had a number written on it in order of release, and this plush had the words ‘Quasar NO.1’ written on it.

And NO.1 belonged to Bora Unnie.

‘Bora Unnie….’

My brother hugged me as I burst into tears. I hugged my brother tightly in return.

I followed the direction of its tail to the very end with blurry vision, but the Calamity flew above the clouds and disappeared in an instant.

As tears dripped down my face at that, a long shadow fell at my feet.

It was Cha Haeeon.

He roughly wiped away my falling tears with the back of his hand.

“Is it because of the Calamity?”

I nodded.

“Hug me.”

Being the helpless crybaby that I am, I opened my arms to Cha Haeeon.

At that, Cha Haeeon hugged me without asking anything.

Pat, pat.

He just patted my back in silence.

I often found Cha Haeeon’s gentle silence comforting.

“Cha Haeeoooon…… sniff!”

“Why, are you uncomfortable anywhere?”

I shook my head and said.

“I’m hungry.”

Following my sniffling, my stomach let out a grumble sound.

“….”

Sizzle, sizzle.

The skewers, made by slicing green onions into large chunks and skewering them with meat, began to cook.

“Crazy. Look at the color of that meat…”

“The smell is killer……”

“This is the first time I’ve seen a green onion since I got here.”

“Me too, me too.”

Gulp.

Gulp.

The sound of people swallowing their saliva could be heard from here and there.

Today’s meat was a mutant resembling a wild boar that Captain Gong Juwon had caught, which I had then purified.

It’s hard to find such normal prey in a world where bizarre-looking mutants run wild, so should I say we were lucky?

While Captain Gong Juwon prepared the meat, I sliced the green onions grown in our garden to make skewers.

Eating my special purified green onion skewers, the boys rejoiced, saying their bodies felt somewhat lighter.

These were kids who couldn’t even see their own contamination levels. Seeing that they brought such ordinary kids to the contaminated zone to use them, my anger flared up even more.

Perhaps feeling the same, Captain Gong Juwon clenched his fists tightly.

While fanning the skewers with my swollen eyes, I casually asked Ahin.

“But when did the Calamity appear? They said this was originally a place without Calamities.”

Ahin, who was blowing on her green onion skewer and taking bites, answered.

“Ahem, yes. It hasn’t been long since it appeared. Since it was after we arrived here, about three days…”

“Really? Then do you happen to know where it goes?”

“I don’t know about that either.”

I kept pressing her with questions about when and where the Calamity appeared, but Ahin just shook her head, saying she wasn’t sure.

I should have turned on the map and followed it.

‘Stupid Do Dam.’

When I hit my own head, my brother rubbed the spot I hit. As if telling me not to blame myself.

Always the gentle brother.

While holding hands tightly with my brother, the red gas mask spoke while eating a skewer.

“Aren’t you going to roast and eat the octopus?”

“Die!”

With my eyes rolled back, I was huffing and puffing, ready to charge at him, when my brother wrapped his tentacles tightly around my limbs to hold me back.

If it weren’t for my brother, you would have been knocked out by my punch!

After finishing the meal, Captain Gong Juwon fired a flare from the roof.

I was worried it might gather nearby mutants with a loud noise and bright light, but it was just a small machine-like thing that flew high up.

After firing the flare like that.

Captain Gong Juwon conveyed a message to the red gas mask to tell the unit, and I purified the hospital’s front yard.

“Why are you only purifying this spot? Short on magic power?”

Cha Haeeon, watching what I was doing, asked.

“No. If I purify everything, the medicine won’t regenerate. That’s also probably an anomaly caused by contamination, so I left it alone on purpose.”

I installed the vending machine in the purified spot.

Seeing the green area expand on the map and my vending machine tag placed there made me feel pleased. It’s just like playing territory capture.

Since I hadn’t picked any tomatoes separately, I just put raw green onion skewers into the hospital vending machine for now.

The price was 35cc.

Whether it’s tomatoes or green onions. Green onions are purified too, so it shouldn’t matter.

“What is this?”

“A vending machine?”

“What is that vending machine?”

Soon, the kids with full stomachs ambled over and started looking at my vending machine.

“Ah, right. Do you guys have Cosmic Coins? Like those coins they give you when you catch a mutant.”

“Those? We had them all taken by the Scavenger boss.”

“Really?”

I guess it’s stranger for them to have coins when their labor was being exploited.

“This is that thing, right? The vending machine where you can buy purification items.”

“Amazing. Something like this really existed.”

“Can’t we use regular coins?”

“No. You can only use Cosmic Coins. Make sure to tell the soldier misters to buy something when they come.”

I waved my hand dismissively and walked away, leaving the kids to look at the vending machine.

Pyok, pyok, pyok, pyok.

Time had flown by, and it was already becoming night.

“How do we get home?”

When I asked Cha Haeeon, who was standing far off by himself, he turned his head.

“We have to walk.”

“When?”

“Now.”

“What? You said it takes two hours to walk! Are you going to give me a piggyback ride?”

“Do you not intend to walk on your own at all?”

“Yeah. How am I supposed to keep up with these short legs? They’ll split apart.”

Cha Haeeon remained silent for a moment as if at a loss for words, then spoke again.

“…Then ride that flying box or something.”

“It’s not a box, it’s a spaceship. And I’m still not good at driving it.”

At that, Cha Haeeon grabbed my ear in one hand. Then, he started walking, letting me dangle.

It was in the direction of our house.

I giggled and called out to him.

“Cha Haeeon.”

“I’m not giving you a piggyback ride.”

“Not that, I have something to ask you.”

“What is it.”

“Why don’t you return to the outside?”
