I Will Avoid the Male Lead and Make a Harem
Vol. 10: Reunion of The Separated Families
Chapter 16

Even with my casual response, he couldn’t seem to relax.

Ah, I see.

It must be because of the recent incident when I left him abruptly on the balcony.

It was probably because I sensed his jealousy towards William.

I unknowingly lashed out at him when he was jealous of William, which might explain why he was making such an effort to be understanding and comforting now.

‘I’m not a threat’, he was trying to reassure himself.

“I’m not sure if you’ll like it, but…”

After a brief moment of hesitation, Valhail flicked his fingers.

With a sharp sound, the flames of the candles on the table suddenly grew larger.

‘What’s going on?’

The flames that were burning on his fingertips suddenly transformed into flames the size of an egg.

Then, within those flames, a round flame burst out and fell onto the floor.

I was taken aback, but before I could finish, the flame took on a shape.

A baby dinosaur.

More precisely, it looked like a baby herbivorous dinosaur.

It was about the size of my fist.

The baby dinosaur clenched its tiny fists and energetically spewed a small flame from its mouth to announce its arrival.

“What… What is this?”

“A salamander.”

I didn’t really understand what that meant, but it was incredibly cute!

With wide eyes, I soaked the sheets and sat up.

In response to my reaction, Valhail chuckled softly and gestured for me to touch it.

“Touch it.”

The salamander, or whatever it was, circled around the chair Valhail was sitting on, appearing curious.

I couldn’t take my eyes off it, wanting to pet it immediately.

“Is it okay to touch it?”

From its head to the tip of its tail, there was a burning flame along its back.

“It’s not hot.”

Excuse me? Is it just not hot for you?

“…Did you think my hand was a flint that could spark like yours?”

He laughed, still holding my hand while we bumped fists.

Then, he brought my hand closer to the salamander that was darting around.

The moment my hand touched the salamander’s body, I tightly closed my eyes.

However, as he had mentioned, I felt no heat at all.

It was slightly squishy and gel-like, just like touching a cat’s paw pad.

‘His whole body feels like jelly! Crazy!’

I marveled at the sensation and gently touched the salamander’s face with my fingertips.

But then, the salamander suddenly transformed into a fire-breathing dinosaur, spewing flames from its mouth.

“Who do you think you are to touch me!” – it seemed to scream like that.

Startled, I quickly withdrew my hand.

Well, we had just met, and we hadn’t even introduced ourselves or had a chance to sniff each other’s scents.

It was only natural that he was surprised too.

The way he kept spewing fire like a flamethrower seemed quite angry.

‘Why did I startle the little guy with my fist!’

I scolded myself.

I was bad! I’m sorry!

My heart raced, not knowing what to do, and I just blinked as Vaalhail, who had silently watched, gently patted me.

The startled salamander, seeing that, rushed towards the fireplace with both hands raised.

“No… don’t go!”

I desperately reached out, but it had already thrown itself into the blazing fire.

With that short cry, the salamander disappeared without a trace.

The flames in the fireplace briefly flared up and then settled down as if nothing had happened.

“Where… where did it go?”

I stood up in dismay, staring at the fire.

“It ran away.”

I sighed, only the small trace of its tiny footprints left on the ashes.

Gosh, I must be crazy.

It was just too cute!

I couldn’t help but think of the lighter-sized flames coming from its mouth and the adorable little hand that I had held.

‘I want to touch it again.’

I thought, even though I was generally not one to be overly fond of animals.

The salamander was small and precious, making it all the more special.

Its entrance and exit had crossed the threshold of what I could handle.

Its overwhelming cuteness tugged at my heartstrings.

“What was that? A spirit?”

I wondered aloud.

Vaalhail nodded solemnly.

“Even among salamanders, it’s considered a useless one……”

How can you say it’s useless?

Don’t you know that cuteness rules the world?

I looked at the fireplace wistfully, but when I turned to Valhail, he had been watching me the whole time.

“It seems to have improved your mood, thankfully.”

I was momentarily distracted by his warm smile and forgot all about the salamander.
