Divorce in Bed Chapter 34
“You must be drunk.”
Dowon ran a hand roughly through his hair and stood up.
Prolonging the conversation was nothing more than a useless drain. It was right to end it here. Because he shouldn’t be a part of the brilliant future granted to Seong Yeohwi.
“I’m going to wash up. You go to sleep first.”
Dowon moved toward the bathroom. His figure as he turned his back was as resolute and heartless as always.
At that moment, Yeohwi jumped up and blocked his path.
“You heard me.”
Dowon’s footsteps stopped.
“Heard what.”
“The fund name. It’s ONE.”
Yeohwi spoke while looking directly into Dowon’s eyes.
“Don’t you remember? What I said here. That I’d be first in line.”
“…”
“That means my inheritance, my heart, even my body… I’m betting it all on only one person, Mister Dowon. I won’t give a single cent or a piece of my heart to anyone else. I’ll never move on.”
Yeohwi’s voice trembled slightly. However, his fierce gaze remained unshaken. It was a look dripping with desperation.
“I am the first. Just as Mister Dowon is to me, I am to Mister Dowon. It’s the only one.”
At that, the air in the living room stopped for an instant. A taut tension flowed as if it would snap at a touch. A wordless atmosphere, even more viscous and precarious, continued throughout.
Dowon stared at that young beast looking at him as if to swallow him whole with quiet eyes.
“…I thought it would be like this.”
A cool, mocking laugh flowed from Dowon’s lips.
“You’re the one who clung. You said you wouldn’t misunderstand. You said you wouldn’t mistake me giving you an opening.”
Dowon stepped forward and snapped overbearingly. He thought he had to give the most cruel yet clear answer to Seong Yeohwi right here. Regardless of whom or what it was for.
“Is that so? Did you really kiss me without any feeling at all? Was it just acting because I was clinging to you?”
Yeohwi growled fiercely, gritting his teeth. Dowon’s gaze sank coldly.
“If I’d known you’d be such a nuisance, I wouldn’t have done it. I loathe the sound of whining.”
“Was it really nothing? To Mister Dowon, am I… nothing at all? Just for the sake of completing the objective, is that it?”
“Ha… it’s all over, so stop being so clingy.”
Dowon pushed past Yeohwi’s shoulder and entered the bathroom. A thorough drawing of the line. A business-like answer without a single grain of emotion mixed in. That was Dowon’s unchanging stance. Even if there were a reason to be shaken, it was only right that he did not give in to it.
“Fine. To Mister Dowon, I’m just a money source. A brat you want to cut off because I’m annoying.”
“You were the one who volunteered for this. Are you having a change of heart now?”
“No. I won’t change. But Mister Dowon—I thought you had changed.”
“Based on exactly what of mine.”
“Then… just answer this. Did you hate it?”
“…”
“Was it disgusting, just horrible, did it make you want to gag, did Mister Dowon feel like a pedophile himself?”
Dowon didn’t reply and tried to close the bathroom door. But then.
Bang!
Yeohwi roughly struck the closing bathroom door. The door hit the wall and made a loud shattering sound. It was enough to make the tiles inside the bathroom ring.
“…What do you think you’re doing?”
Dowon furrowed his brow and slowly looked back. Displeasure dwelled in his eyes.
“Answer me.”
“It’s a question not even worth the value of an answer.”
“I said answer me!”
Yeohwi strongly urged him.
His eyes were bloodshot and his fists were clenched so tight they turned white, but there was not a hint of backing down. He looked like a completely different person.
“Get out. Stop talking nonsense.”
“You can’t answer. Fine then.”
Dowon ignored him and tried to close the bathroom door again. At that moment, Yeohwi, not having heard a clear answer, strode over to the living room table.
And he picked up the half-full bottle of premium whisky Dowon had been drinking. It was a Dalmore 45.
What the hell is he trying to do with that? Is he going to drink it? Dowon swallowed a hollow laugh and watched the angry Yeohwi. However, the scene that unfolded before his eyes was far beyond his expectations.
Gurgle, gurgle, gurgle.
Without hesitation, Yeohwi poured the whisky onto the sofa.
The dark brown liquid poured onto the leather sofa, soaking it heavily. The pungent smell of alcohol instantly vibrated through the room.
Dowon’s eyes widened slightly. It felt as if he could hear the sound of his composure breaking.
Yeohwi didn’t stop. Not just the long four-seater sofa, but the one-seater armchair and the stool—he poured out every last drop of the whisky onto every piece of furniture in the room that one could lie or sit on. As if pouring out his own suppressed emotions.
After the bottle was completely emptied and the last drop fell, Yeohwi slammed the empty bottle down onto the table.
“The cleaning bill—I’ll pay it.”
Yeohwi turned his head, glared at Dowon, and declared.
“And, since there’s nowhere else to lie down but the bed. I’m sleeping in the bed today.”
A declaration of war. The bell had rung.
“Sleep with me. Go wash up.”
And then, bang again!
This time, Yeohwi slammed the bathroom door shut. Leaving Dowon trapped inside the bathroom. Beyond the door, Yeohwi’s rough breathing could be heard. Dowon stood stock-still and stared blankly at the closed door.
the terrible smell of whisky piercing the tip of his nose. The living room turned into a mess. And just now, that cheeky and headlong gaze growling at him while baring its teeth.
“Hah,” an empty breath escaped. He was flabbergasted and found it absurd.
“…Is that bastard crazy.”
Dowon muttered lowly, sweeping back his disheveled black hair. His back reflected in the bathroom mirror appeared blurry.
‧₊˚🍊༉‧₊˚.
The bathroom door opened, and the trapped white steam poured out like cumulus clouds. Dowon walked out through the thick mist. The time was already nearing midnight.
He looked down silently at the disaster spread before his eyes.
The premium beige leather sofa was soaking wet, having fully absorbed the dark brown whisky, and the one-seater armchair and stool were no exception, drenched in alcohol. The entire suite was filled with the pungent smell of booze. Every time he breathed the sharp, dry air into his lungs, it felt as if the intoxication was seeping in.
“…”
Dowon’s gaze moved slowly to Seong Yeohwi, who was sitting with his back against the headboard in a posture of a fight to the death.
“Reflect on yourself.”
Dowon gestured with his chin toward the mess that was the sofa. His voice was low and dry, but suppressed anger was coiled within it.
“Is this the transaction method you spoke of?”
Dowon’s appearance was dangerously provocative. His damp black hair glinted dark like black silk, and the shadows on his sharp forehead and bridge of his nose looked even deeper. Furthermore, the belt of the bathrobe he had thrown on was loosely tied, starkly revealing the contours of his sunken chest muscles and collarbone.
Every time he moved, the firm pectoral muscles and the deep curves of his collarbone stood out.
“You talked big about being a source of funds. I see the best you can do is spray filth on the place where you lie down.”
Yeohwi bit his lip hard at the sarcastic tone. He tasted metallic blood in his mouth.
“…It’s not filth, it’s my will.”
Yeohwi answered, trying to hide his trembling voice.
“I told you that the place where Mister Dowon will sleep today is next to me.”
“Ha.”
Dowon let out a hollow laugh as if it were absurd. A drop of water falling from the tip of his hair flowed down his sharp jawline and dampened his Adam’s apple.
“The honeymoon acting should have ended long ago. I suppose you’re still deep in the method?”
“Mister Dowon.”
“Get out.”
Dowon declared coldly. He strode toward the nightstand next to the bed as if he no longer felt the value in talking. A telephone was sitting there.
“I’ll contact the front desk and get another room, so vanish from my sight this instant. It’s common for newlyweds to fight and use separate rooms.”
“No. I can’t do that.”
Yeohwi shouted, clutching the bed sheets tightly. His knuckles turned white.
“And, if you really insist on kicking me out, I’ll take all my money and fly away.”
Even so, Yeohwi did not back down and fought back. His eyes were red.
“I’ll take the bonds I have, the stocks, everything, and disappear. Forget the fund or whatever—screw it all. Then our plan will be completely ruined.”
“Oh?”
Dowon’s eyes narrowed. It was a bold move on Yeohwi’s part, but it seemed to only provoke Dowon’s anger further.
“Go ahead if you want. There’s no reason to do business with someone who only knows how to use their mouth to force things like this.”
“Business, you say?”
