Two days later.

Sephiel was picking flowers as she played in the open air inside the forest as usual.

“Thish, a present!” [This, a present!]

“Oh my, so pretty. It’s a pretty grass flower ring. Is there none for the Little Young Lord?”

Sephiel flinched.

‘Why would I give him?’

Even if she gives it to him, he’ll put the flower neck on her like a raccoon doll.

Seeing Sephiel, who was squatting and playing, Berry laughed slightly.

“I’m glad you’re feeling great today, our Miss Baby.”

Berry caressed Sephiel’s hair.

Tomorrow is the day the people from the Allegro Royal Family arrive.

Because of that, Sephiel has been depressed these days.

What’s worse, yesterday she even said she wouldn’t eat snacks.

That itself was truly a shock for the employees.

‘Sigh, she’s thin today as well.’

She has tried so very hard to make a plump tadpole belly as chubby as Sephiel’s peers while she checked her belly in the mornings and evenings, though!

She regards the existence who takes away Miss Baby’s fat, even a little bit, as her enemy.

It had been a long time since Berry was already determined to do so.

“Buth, can I come out?” [But, can I come out?]

“Yes. However, please never ever enter the Grand Duke’s garden.”

“Yesh.” [Yes.]

She heard that the Grand Duke family had well-tended gardens and flower gardens, just like a huge castle.

But, for some reason, that place was surrounded by a high wall, and the only entrance to enter it was firmly locked.

Sephiel was really curious about that place, but since it was an unpermitted place, she wasn’t going near it.

Instead, there was no big discontent because she could play in the forest which surrounded the only path coming to the main building.

It was that time.

“Clear the way!”

The path right next to the forest.

There was a loud carriage noise along that road. At the sound of the ground rumbling, Sephiel stood up from her place, startled.

‘That carriage. It’s the sign of the Allegro Royal Family, right?’

An extremely fancy carriage.

That carriage’s surface was carved with a huge red bird emblem.

The carriage stopped in front of Sephiel and the one who got out of it was a woman who wore very fancy clothes.

“Ugh! So it’s really dirty. I didn’t know that the Great Duke’s Castle, which I’d heard of only through rumors, is stuck inside a forest like this.”

She fanned her face with a fan as she got annoyed.

‘Huh? That woman?’

Sephiel opened her eyes wide. It was a very unexpected person.

‘Why is Queen Erata here in person?’

Sephiel’s Death Note rank 7.

It was the Crown Prince’s mother, Erata, the second wife who came in after the death of the late Queen.

***

Sephiel felt a chill in an instant.

‘My foster mother who abused and tormented me.’

Erata had a very bad reputation.

Originally, she was a Queen whose household was not a good one, but somehow, she held on to the King because she had a child and then got married to him.

Those were the words that followed Erata for her whole life.

It was the third child, Huron, who was born that way.

‘The Queen Dowager who’s my grandmother as well as a mother-in-law to Erata. She surely did say this kind of words sometimes when she’s provoking Erata.’

[Isn’t it a relief that Huron is a son, Erata? If you also gave born to a daughter, you might be in a similar position to Lillia, the woman who gave birth to the white-haired mouse bitch. Secondary to being a monster, isn’t a daughter useless? Give more birth to strong grandchildren and contribute to the Royal Family.]

When the Queen Dowager, Yullin, provokes Erata’s temper like that….

‘Yup, venting her anger was always my portion, wasn’t it?’

Erata used to beat Sephiel severely, mainly blaming her for trivial things.

[You think you and my precious son, Huron, are the same? What kind of shame are you doing? To think that I’m receiving the same treatment as that bitch Lillia. Phew, the more I see it, you’re so annoying because you resemble Lillia!]

The hidden meaning of those words was only learned in detail later.

‘The third prince, Huron, and I are surely about the same age….’

So what she means, Sephiel and Huron were children born almost around the same time.

With that fact alone, it was enough for Erata to loathe Sephiel.

‘Although she said that my biological mom, who was pregnant with me really around the same time as her, died after giving birth to me. It might have been a good thing since thanks to that I came to know Mom’s name.’

If she thought about it like that, she felt gloomy in many ways.

‘Yup. Come to think of it again, it’s really my hometown, the insane royal family.’

That place was a nightmare that she never wanted to go back to again.

***

Leaving behind a line of bustling people, Erata approached.

“Hey! Is this the right way to the Grand Duke Palace?”

“Yes. It is. However, the Grand Duke Palace is a place where guests are not easily received. What brings you here?”

Berry hid Sephiel behind her.

“I am Queen Erata, an envoy from the Allegro Royal Family for the marriage proposal.”

“As far as we know, the envoy’s arrival date is tomorrow, though.”

Arriving after moving up the schedule a day earlier.

In the diplomacy between countries, that was a terribly rude thing. Berry said cautiously.

“Why are you answering back? By the way, who’s that kid you hid behind you? By any chance.”

Erata wriggled her eyebrows and made a hmm sound.

“I told them to stop the carriage because it was somewhat suspicious. And turns out, it’s you? Hoho. So I’m lucky. I mean to think that we’re already meeting each other.”

Chills.

Sephiel got goosebumps at that smile.

‘I don’t like it.’

[A white mouse that caught a contagious disease]. Erata used to call Sephiel like that.

“That white mouse-like look. I’m sure. Hey, get out of the way.”

“….”

“What’s this, what’s with that look? Surely it seems that the servants of the Grand Duchy aren’t taught manners?”

“I apologize, but what business do you have with Miss Baby?”

“You don’t know even when you’ve heard it?”

Erata flared up in annoyance.

“I’m the mother of that thing!”

Berry didn’t back down and said calmly.

“It would be better to enter the Grand Duke Palace first. Since this person’s protection is now being managed by the Grand Duke family, you can meet her only after receiving the Grand Duke’s permission.”

“Ha! What did you say?”

Erata said as if she was speechless.

“Are you looking down on me right now?”

“….”

Berry’s face became clouded over. It was a conduct which has no dignity very much to the extent it was just hard to believe that she was the queen of one country.

‘Yep, I know. You’re surprised, right?’

That was because Erata was a woman who was simply chosen to keep in check the First Prince, Kuron’s maternal relatives.

Erata’s family became a noble a few years ago by making a great contribution, but it was rumored that some bandit leader bought the title with money.

“How dare you get in the way when a mother is going to see her child! Hey! Get rid of those things!”

In an instant, the knights whom Erata brought surrounded Berry. Sephiel flinched.

The place where they are is near the forest road that connects the Grand Duke family forest with the main building.

She thought that even if she shouted, the servants of the Grand Duke Palace may or may not come.

Sephiel pulled Berry’s collar quietly.

“Berry.”

“Yes, Miss Baby.”

“Ith’sh oway, i’ww go.” [It’s okay, I’ll go.]

After all, no one in the previous life was kind to Sephiel.

But there was a maid who secretly brought medicine once because she felt sorry for her being treated too harshly.

[My gosh, since you might’ve got infected from that white mouse, I’ll have to disinfect you.]

It went against Erata’s nerves and….

‘In the end, that maid surely got burned all over her hand.’

Thinking about that slowly made her angry.

‘Surely I can’t let Berry suffer through such a state.’

When Berry hesitated, Sephiel toddled forward.

“Do you have shomethhing tho theww me?” [Do you have something to tell me?]

“Hmm.”

Erata looked at Sephiel up and down. After that, she suddenly put on a kind smile.

“Come here, child. Come to Mother.”

“…Mothher?” […Mother?]

“Oh my, am I not your foster mother even though I’m like this?”

Sephiel was loss for words.

‘What does this auntie have under her sleeves?’

“This mother came all this way because of you, right? Baby, when you see your mom, you have to say hello, don’t you? What will people think of the Allegro Royal Family if you’re like this?”

When Sephiel didn’t come closer, Erata pulled Sephiel roughly.

And she hugged Sephiel tightly. In that state, Erata whispered in Sephiel’s ear.

“Hey, turns out you’re talented.”

“….”

“You, a young thing, already playing tricks and currying favor with the Grand Duke family?”

Erata took her cheek off and looked right into Sephiel’s eyes as she whispered.

“I’ll make sure without fail to make you pay the price for making me come to this place.”

Erata grinned and then tapped Sephiel’s cheek.

“Indeed, you’re defining that you look like your biological mother.”

Sephiel was loss for words. The things called her previous life’s family were more of a mess than what she remembered.

‘The Allegro Royal Family, ‘the world’s best’ which really has no basis to it.’

To think words like this are the words being said to a five-year-old.

‘Although if it was me from my previous life, I would have been scared by this.’

Sephiel just stared, and blinked as she looked at Erata.

‘Yup, I, who’ve become evil, surely barely get scared of Death Note rank 7.’

When Sephiel wasn’t scared even a bit, Erata tilted her head.

“Why are there no answers to Mother’s words?”

“….”

“Hooo, sure. So you’re going to ignore my words because you already have a coarse habit.”

Erata held her fan and pointed to Berry.

“Twist the low life’s arms. Seemingly, she looks like this thing’s nanny, though. She surely has to be punished for misteaching the young mouse.”

“No, don’th!” [No, don’t!]

Sephiel screamed reflexively.

‘I mean Berry is a mixed-blood of a succubus.’

But then Sephiel also can’t advise Erata to stop if she doesn’t want to have nightmares!

‘More than that, even a succubus, are their physical abilities the same as normal people?’

But the knights didn’t know anything. They seized Berry’s arms.

“Ah!”

Berry screamed.

‘This is really….’

Sephiel gritted her teeth.

“Auntie.”

“…What?”

“Auntie, don’t do it.”

“From where are you calling me ‘Auntie’?”

“You, aunthie thowd me thhath you’ww wiww me if i caww you mom, did you noth?” [You, Auntie told me that you’ll kill me if I call you Mom, did you not?]

It was true. Erata, who visited the prison in her previous life, was sparkling, very fancy, and pretty.

Sephiel grabbed the collar without realizing it herself, and said, “Mom.” Then she was immediately bombarded with curse words.

“Thath’sh why i am cawwing you aunthie, thhough. You shaid thhath in prishon, no?” [That’s why I am calling you Auntie, though. You said that in prison, no?]

“….”

“By any chance, ish aunthie an idioth? you can noth remember ith?” [By any chance, is Auntie an idiot? You can not remember it?]

Sephiel innocently opened her eyes.

“Thath’sh why you weren’th abwe tho graduathe from thhe academy for thhree yearsh?” [That’s why you weren’t able to graduate from the academy for three years?]

Shiver shiver.

Erata’s body shivered. All of the maids and knights avoided Erata’s eyes.

Sephiel would rather hold back if she twisted her arms. But she couldn’t hold back if they touched Berry.

‘They say that naturally, people will feel the angriest when they’re hit by facts, right?’

Queen Erata.

She failed at the academy which she enrolled by donation for as many as three consecutive years when she was a girl. She had an honorable record of receiving a judgment of being unable to graduate.

Later, in order to marry Erata, who eventually couldn’t graduate and mid-way gave up, Wittegar the Third….

‘Made a completion process, not a graduation, and even gave her an enforced certificate, then took her in as a queen.’

It was an incident in which Erata was mocked for ages.

“Where did you hear that, huh? There’s nothing a young thing can’t say!”

She doesn’t treat Sephiel like a child, curses all kinds of things, and yet only at times like this, she calls her a kid.

Sephiel contorted her chubby cheeks as she raised one corner of her mouth.

“Aunthie, from where wouwd i have heard thhath? try tho thhinw abouth ith.” [Auntie, from where would I have heard that? Try to think about it.]

Without any wits, Erata’s maid said.

“What should we do, Your Highness the Queen? I guess the rumors have spread even to the Grand Duke Family!”

“Shut up!”

Erata folded and threw her fan at the maid.

“You, bow down and apologize at once for speaking rudely to your mother.”

Of course, Sephiel didn’t feel even the slightest bit like that.

“Why are you angry? Auntie.”

Sephiel smiled brightly at Erata.

“Aunthie ish a rich pershon and a nobwe, no!?” [Auntie is a rich person and a noble, no!?]

“…What?”

“Buth why are you shcreaming sho unmannerwy? by any chance, ish aunthie… awsho a wowwife?” [But why are you screaming so unmannerly? By any chance, is Auntie… also a lowlife?]

Erata had an expression like she was punched in the face in front of her eyes. Her expression was severly distorted.

“Aunthie, you reawwy woow wiwe an ugwy pershon now thhath you’re angry!” [Auntie, you really look like an ugly person now that you’re angry!]

“You…. You little….”

Erata’s face turned deathly pale.

‘You’re annoyed now that you heard it directly, right? Kids are adults’ mirrors.’

Sephiel wanted to stick her tongue out.
