Pheromone Off Chapter 5
“Has this bastard lost his mind? Who do you think you’re touching?!”
Without asking anything about the context or the details, the retaliation flew immediately. He kicked his waist, crushed his shoulder blade, and swung his feet mercilessly. His pit of the stomach was choked up tightly, causing a dry cough to burst out. It felt like his cheekbone was slammed against the marble floor and the inside of his mouth was torn open, but Hajin stretched out his arm until the very end to pick up his cell phone and firmly pressed the end-call button.
However, the opponent had no interest whatsoever in his actions and simply wielded violence relentlessly. The familiar pain weighed him down. Being kicked by the feet, his vision wavered. Beyond his frantically spinning vision, the indifferent gaze of Seong Yeonwoo, who was staring coldly at him, landed on him.
Ha… An inaudible, complicated groan from Hajin echoed quietly.
I’m sick of this. Gaping his face with both arms and shutting his eyes tightly, Hajin thought so. He was sick of the pouring violence and sick of the cynical emotions directed at him.

Holding Kwon Sayoung in his heart started six years ago when he entered middle school. At that time when Hajin was fourteen, Kwon Sayoung was twenty-four, an adult who was much older than him. Although Kwon Sayoung was not dating Seong Yeonwoo back then, because the families saw each other often and they were the same age, they had been together almost since birth, so the two of them were no different from childhood friends. The closest friends to each other. When a third party looked at them, even if they weren’t dating, they appeared as existences that occupied an important part of each other.
Therefore, there were many occasions where they visited each other’s houses, and that day was no different. Running into Kwon Sayoung, who had dropped by to see Seong Yeonwoo, Hajin would automatically shrink back, feeling that he was an awesome person just as much as his half-brothers. Furthermore, every time he saw Grandfather, he would say: his second grandson was a very nasty fellow. Of course, it wasn’t a crude condemnation but an affectionate expression for his grandson, but the young Hajin took the words literally.
On top of that, a height taller than Seong Suhyun, a physique that looked more massive, and even his characteristic cold impression. It was only natural for Hajin, who lived oppressed by Alphas, to lose his spirit.
That day, he was sitting on the terrace of Yujeongjae reading a book. His figure reading a book while leaning back leisurely felt like a masterpiece painting. Just in time, the sunlight pouring over the terrace and the cool, fragrant wind blowing were perfect. The softly blowing wind smelled good. It was the first time he realized that even the wind had a fragrance. Since he couldn’t smell his pheromones, it was definitely his body odor mixed with his perfume. He thought so to himself because the scent that reached the tip of his nose heavily suited him terribly well.
The reason his gaze exceptionally went to him was because he knew well that he was the partner whom that incredible Seong Yeonwoo put effort into. Kwon Sayoung was the only man into whom Seong Yeonwoo—who was always displeased and unsatisfied with the courtship of any Dominant Alphas, men, or women—put work and dedicated his sincerity.
Primarily, out of curiosity as to who the man was that brought down the nose of that incredible Seong Yeonwoo. Secondly, because he seemed to know the reason even just by looking from afar. A handsome face that looked nobly raised. Deeply set eyes and a sharp jawline, a straight-set bridge of the nose, and an even lip line. Above all, an aura that couldn’t be compared with others was intense. Even so, it wasn’t because of that incredible face that he lost his heart to him.
‘What are you loitering around for?’
At the exact moment he was secretly stealing a glance at him, Seong Suhyun appeared from behind his back. Startled, Hajin moved his body aside as if clearing the path.
Seong Suhyun turned his gaze, tracing the trajectory of his vision to check what he was watching so intently. When Kwon Sayoung was reached there, Seong Suhyun’s brows furrowed slightly.
‘Fuck… what are you doing, you?’
‘…W—What do you mean….’
‘I’m asking what you’re stealing a glance at so gloomily.’
Seong Suhyun struck the back of his head and crumpled his face fiercely as if displeased. Even though he had merely looked, Hajin lowered his head and apologized.
‘I’m sorry….’
Hajin, who was still young, used honorifics to his half-brothers who were ten years older. It was Seong Suhyun’s command.
‘Why are you looking like some Omega in heat?’
‘…I didn’t do that.’
‘For a mere Beta, your eyes are quite high. A Beta, no, for a male Beta topic, are you lusting after a fellow?’
It’s not… it’s not. Even though he kept denying that it wasn’t true, Seong Suhyun did not listen.
‘Dirty bastard. Thinking he’s some kind of Omega himself.’
‘…’
‘I guess lowborn blood can’t be hidden. Doing all sorts of things?’
Seong Suhyun hit Hajin’s head, reprimanding and condemning him. Dominant Alphas differed from Betas right from their genes, so the strength in a single punch or hand gesture was extraordinary. Having been beaten twice, Hajin’s ears turned blank as if his eardrums had burst, and the inside of his mouth also tore open.
‘What are you doing, you.’
It was then. Whether he sensed the noisy signs, Kwon Sayoung, who had been reading on the terrace, had arrived here before anyone noticed. Quite startled by the heavy voice striking his ears, Hajin looked up at him. It was a height so tall that he had to lift his head squarely to see his face.
‘Can’t you tell by looking? Educating our house’s dog bastard who lives in idleness.’
Seong Suhyun spoke casually, playfully grabbing his hair and shaking it. His body tottered at the brutal strength. Somehow embarrassed by this situation, Hajin dropped his head deeply again.
‘…Do you want to be doing this to a child who is much younger?’
‘What?’
However, an unexpected reaction returned. Usually, those who witnessed Seong Suhyun’s insolent behavior either agreed or ignored it, one of the two. However, Kwon Sayoung condemned him as if he were pathetic.
‘I’m asking if you want to brutally swing your hands at a child who is much smaller and younger than you.’
‘W—What? Brutal?’
‘Stop doing things that smear mud on Chairman Seong’s face.’
Kwon Sayoung threw a cold gaze that showed he was sick of it. Seong Suhyun heated up as if flared up by the contemptuous gaze, but Kwon Sayoung displayed an attitude that didn’t care about his browbeating and quietly looked down at him, who was bleeding from the mouth. It was a dumbfounded gaze with no particular sympathy or goodwill, but to him, that brief gaze, this moment, was the first goodwill he had ever experienced.
‘You sometimes really have to speak so shittily like that?’
‘Why don’t you look back at the pathetic things you do instead.’
‘What?’
‘Lately, there have been drug articles circulating with your initials.’
He checked his wristwatch leisurely and added casually.
‘News will be heading to the Chairman’s secretariat soon. Even without that, since there’s a past record, Chairman Seong must be watching with fire in his eyes. Will you be okay?’
At Kwon Sayoung’s words, the face of Seong Suhyun, who had been huffing like an angry bull, turned pale in an instant. Whether it was unexpected news, Seong Suhyun let go of his hair and hurriedly looked for his cell phone. Then suddenly pausing and glaring at Kwon Sayoung with resentful eyes, he muttered a curse lowly.
‘This fucker…’
Whether he was worried about what would unfold ahead, Seong Suhyun hurriedly left the spot while making a call somewhere. Once Seong Suhyun disappeared from the vicinity, Hajin let out a long breath, feeling like he could live. But immediately at the fact that he was left entirely alone with Kwon Sayoung, tension rose again, causing him to swallow his breath and carefully look up at him again.
‘Omega?’
He tossed to him. He generally had no interest in his surroundings. It was a question he asked every time he ran into him.
‘…No, a Beta….’
‘Is that so?’
He shot back indifferently, scanned him long, and soon an expression of surprise brushed over his mindless face.
‘You know you’re bleeding, right?’
And then pointing at his own mouth, at the words informing him, Hajin let out a small lament, “Ah…,” and wiped his mouth roughly. To him who helped him, Hajin bowed his waist squarely and greeted him.
‘Thank you.’
‘For what.’
‘…Just for helping me….’
He quietly looked down at Hajin for a moment. Scanning Hajin’s somewhat shabby appearance one by one, he opened his mouth.
‘Don’t bow your head easily.’
‘…’
‘Over something natural.’
He replied mindlessly as if unable to understand his behavior of thanking him, and Hajin temporarily lost his speech. His mind was blank. Growing up, he had never once experienced that natural thing. In that moment of being violated and trampled upon by someone much stronger and superior in power than himself, he didn’t know at all that this act of restraining the opponent was something natural.
Hajin blankly looked at him for a moment, but right away Seong Yeonwoo revealed himself from the second floor. He walked toward Seong Yeonwoo, who appeared after finishing his business. They shared a brief conversation of some sort and left Yujeongjae. Watching that back disappearing side by side, he thought:
That he was the most sensible among the Dominant Alphas he had seen. And that appearance looked grander than any of his great features.

Contrary to his appearance, he possessed a sensible side, but he was a person who possessed a colder side than anyone else. Occasionally when they bumped into each other, he wouldn’t remember him well. He knew that there was a half-sibling in Seongsan Group, but he didn’t know well what kind of human being that sibling was. He was a man who even forgot his dynamic trait every time.
He didn’t have the slightest intention to make himself recognized by such a man. Looking on from afar was quite enough. Hearing the news that he was dating Seong Yeonwoo, he thought that such a day had finally come. He had expected it, but even so, he had also suffered alone in his heart. Of course, without showing a single hint. Because if he were to be caught showing any sign of that, there was no knowing what he would suffer again.
