Empress’ Game: Make-up Master Chapter 3 - Teaching you how to behave

Author: Piki

Some people are just like that. When you speak nicely, they refuse to listen. In that case, it seemed they could skip the step of speaking nicely altogether.

Chuntao pointed at Wu Sheyue’s nose and shouted in shock,

“You… you ugly freak actually dared to kick me! You’ve got some nerve!”

Chuntao had hit Wu Sheyue plenty of times before, but being bullied by Wu Sheyue was a first in all of history. A fool actually dared to treat her this way. Right then, Chuntao felt she could not endure it.

Her knees hurt so badly that she staggered several times before climbing up. In a rage, she reached out to grab Wu Sheyue.

Wu Sheyue only turned slightly and avoided her.

“Is Second Miss your master? From what I can see, you’re even more capable than Second Miss.”

“Bullshit! Who told you to talk about my Second Miss?”

Seeing that Wu Sheyue refused to obediently take a beating, Chuntao flew into a fury and lunged at her again.

“You’ve rebelled!”

Seeing Chuntao throw a tantrum and refuse to stop, Wu Sheyue raised her foot again and snapped a precise kick into Chuntao’s chin. Chuntao had not yet recovered from the pain in her knees when she was sent flying and crashed beside the coffin.

This kick was harsh. Chuntao screamed like a pig being slaughtered and rolled all over the ground. She no longer cared about the pain in her knees.

Her chin felt as if it had been dislocated, and her whole head spun with dizziness. Tears and snot ran down together, flowing into her mouth.

Even like this, Chuntao still refused to believe that a former fool had suddenly recovered today.
Her speech blurred as she threatened Wu Sheyue.

“You… you lowly wench! How dare you-”

Wu Sheyue walked over.

“Come here. I’ll teach you properly when the word ‘wench’ should be used.”

In the end, Chuntao rolled and… flew.
She was kicked all the way out, screaming as if someone were being murdered. Wu Sheyue did not even lift her hands. It was like driving out a dog.

For some reason, perhaps because this place was too remote, no one was drawn over. Outside the courtyard, Chuntao cried until she could hardly breathe, yet she still made grand threats.

“Boo-hoo, just you wait… you wait for me…”

Only after it quieted outside, which probably meant Chuntao had left, did Wu Sheyue turn back into the mourning hall. She looked around and gave a soft snort.

“Have you watched enough? Come out!”

The person beside the room had probably seen the entire show. This turtle-like reaction speed
of hers… really did need training.

At the side door of the mourning hall, another girl dressed as a maid poked her head out. Her face looked timid. Her hairstyle was the same as Chuntao’s, but her hair was dull and somewhat messy.

She wore old white mourning clothes and looked very thin, and she seemed quite frightened.

When Wu Sheyue turned and glared at her, the girl dropped to her knees with a thud.

“T-Third Miss?”

“Where did you come from?”

“Miss? I’m Ning’er… This servant is your maid.”

Ning’er laid on the ground and looked at her with shock and worry.

“Oh…”

It seemed this girl named Ning’er had followed the original owner for a long time. That made things a little awkward.

“Miss, is your illness acting up again?”

Ning’er asked, trembling slightly and with some fear.

“No. What are you afraid of?”

Did the original owner bite people when she became foolish?

Ning’er lowered her head.

“T-This servant only feels that Third Miss is different today.” She… she had not seen wrong, had she? Just now, Third Miss had beaten Chuntao?

“…”

Wu Sheyue strode to the coffin and asked, “Forget it. I really can’t pretend to be a fool. How did she die?”

“Miss, you… you’ve forgotten again? Concubine Yin… she died of illness…”

Ning’er stared suspiciously at Wu Sheyue’s profile. Did Miss just say she could not pretend to be a fool?

“Are you sure she died of illness?”

“I…”

Wu Sheyue pointed at the things Chuntao had tossed onto the coffin.

“Throw that plate of stuff away.”

“Yes.”

Ning’er carried the plate out, and Wu Sheyue went straight to the coffin and pushed the lid open. The coffin was not made of any good wood. It was very light.

Inside the coffin lay a woman in clean but old clothes. Wu Sheyue bent down and examined this Lady Yin’s features.

She had seen many dead people and did not find it eerie. From the bottom of her heart, she only felt that the woman was astonishingly beautiful. Even though faint corpse spots had already appeared on her face, they did not diminish her beauty at all.

There was a faint bloodstain on her chest. Wu Sheyue pulled open the collar with her fingers. There really was a sword wound inside. No one had even cleaned her body. The blood had already congealed on her skin.

Ning’er’s scream rang out behind Wu Sheyue. Without looking back, Wu Sheyue asked, “Do people who die of illness in your house all get a hole opened in them?”

“Miss!”

Ning’er also leaned over the coffin edge and stared closely at Wu Sheyue, then asked with barely hidden excitement,

“Miss, have you really recovered? You… you aren’t foolish anymore? Did Ning’er not mishear you before?”

“I already told you I can’t keep pretending…” Wu Sheyue sighed. “But I don’t know anything now. Tell me everything you know, and hurry.”

Ning’er could not tell whether Wu Sheyue truly was no longer foolish or whether she was still playing tricks in the middle of an episode, but she no longer wanted to think too deeply about it. She burst into tears of joy.

“Miss, this is wonderful!”

Almost urgently, she grabbed Wu Sheyue’s sleeve and said,
“Concubine Yin was… was killed by the Eighth Prince!”

Having a clear murderer was not surprising. Wu Sheyue asked very seriously,

“Who is the Eighth Prince? Did Third Mi- did I owe him money?”
