Flower Fiancé Chapter 81
Frowning, I listened to the alphas talking openly. Lee Hyunjoon picked up the glass in front of him. His hands trembled enough to make the ice clink inside.
It seemed clear that Choi Moohyuk wasn’t just all talk. The day he’d been seized by the collar and forced to take a fist to the face still appeared in his dreams from time to time.
“What are you going to do now?”
Lost in thought, Lee Hyunjoon raised his head with the glass still at his lips. The eyes of the two alphas sitting across from him were fixed on Lee Hyunjoon.
Quietly moving only his pupils to look at them, Lee Hyunjoon rolled his bitter-tasting tongue around his mouth before continuing.
“Whether that bastard finds me or not, tomorrow is the end.”
“The end?”
“Ah, it’s today. Four hours left now.”
Lee Hyunjoon said, looking at the watch on his wrist.
“Once I leave Korea, how is the likes of him going to find me? He’s not going to follow me overseas.”
“Leave Korea?”
A nasty smile spread across the corner of Lee Hyunjoon’s mouth.
“Yeah. Going to live there for a few years. Might just settle down there, depending.”
“…Where are you going.”
“You get shot in the head? Why would I tell you that. What if you get threatened by Choi Moohyuk and blab everything.”
He held the glass between his lips, then tilted it to let it flow into his mouth. Beyond his lowered gaze, he could see the alphas exchanging wordless glances with flustered expressions.
“Let him search until his dick falls off. Can he find someone who isn’t in Korea?”
Setting the glass down with a clack, Lee Hyunjoon brushed himself off and stood up.
“I’m heading out first. Thanks for the drinks.”
“Hey, hold on….”
One alpha, who had been particularly vocal in praising Choi Moohyuk, grabbed the arm of Lee Hyunjoon as he tried to pass. Lee Hyunjoon shook his arm free of the alpha and walked toward the door. It was the moment he reached the closed door and grasped the handle.
— Knock, knock.
Two precise knocks rang chillingly through the room.
“Sh, shit, what?”
Lee Hyunjoon hastily let go of the handle and stepped back. Holding even his breath, he stared at the closed door.
“Who is it.”
The tense Lee Hyunjoon shouted toward the closed door. Beyond the door remained quiet, and an indescribable tension swirled inside the room.
Scowling, Lee Hyunjoon glared at the door for a long moment, then slowly approached and turned the handle.
Smoothly, the door opened.
“…!”
Eyes wide open, Lee Hyunjoon let out an uneven breath and stumbled backward step by step.
What appeared through the gradually widening gap in the door was Choi Moohyuk, wearing a black leather jacket and half gloves tightened to reveal his fingers.
“H-how did you….”
Lee Hyunjoon stammered as if he couldn’t believe the sight before his eyes.
Watching this, the end of Choi Moohyuk’s lips seemed to twist slightly upward, but only for a moment. In the blink of an eye, his expression returned to blankness, and Choi Moohyuk was already staring at Lee Hyunjoon with an awl-sharp gaze.
Seeing his cold expression, Lee Hyunjoon knew instinctively. He was fucked.
“…Shit!”
Faced with danger, his brain seemed to have short-circuited. Lee Hyunjoon turned and fled back into the enclosed room. But before he could take more than a few steps, a thud sounded and he was sent sprawling across the room.
“Ugh, hack.”
Tripped and kicked, Lee Hyunjoon couldn’t even breathe properly and hacked, crying out in pain. It truly felt as if his body was being split in half.
The alphas and omegas who had been in the room could only watch the scene unfolding before them with their mouths agape.
“H-hold, ugh, hold on….”
Clutching his chest, Lee Hyunjoon raised his hand and begged. Paying no mind, Choi Moohyuk cleanly ignored even the gazes fixed on him and entered the room. Walking to the table without hesitation, he grabbed whatever bottle his hand touched first.
“Let’s t-talk this out….”
Struggling to stagger to his feet, Lee Hyunjoon sensed the footsteps approaching him and recoiled in terror. Grabbing the stumbling Lee Hyunjoon by the hair and yanking him up, Choi Moohyuk struck him down with the bottle he was holding.
Thwack!
With a dull sound, the bottle shattered against his head and scattered.
“Urgh, ugh….”
Vomiting blood, Lee Hyunjoon collapsed limply along with the falling shards of the bottle.
“…!”
The alphas and omegas witnessing this scene couldn’t even scream and covered their mouths. Lee Hyunjoon only writhed on the floor, unable to lift his body. Looking down at that Lee Hyunjoon, Choi Moohyuk tossed the neck of the broken bottle he’d been holding aside carelessly and turned to the uninvited guests.
“Leave if you’re not planning to watch more. I still have unfinished business with this one.”
When he tilted his head slightly toward Lee Hyunjoon as he spoke, they all rolled their eyes in unison and gauged the situation. They had already sensed that staying here any longer could put them in danger too. So, one by one, after cautiously backing away, they began fleeing as if someone were chasing them.
Only after the people had rushed out like the tide did the room finally hold only Choi Moohyuk and Lee Hyunjoon.
Lowering himself, Choi Moohyuk grabbed the hair of the bleeding, writhing Lee Hyunjoon and yanked his head up. Lee Hyunjoon’s face contorted violently. With his scalp already riddled with injuries, when Choi Moohyuk twisted his grip on his hair, the pain was beyond description. Unable to lift a single finger, Lee Hyunjoon flailed his arms and legs in agony.
“So, you should have stayed well-hidden until the end and then left.”
Hearing Choi Moohyuk’s low voice, Lee Hyunjoon’s eyes flew wide open. His pupils, fixed on the empty air, wavered as if flustered. Lee Hyunjoon looked at the clock on the wall. It was past 3 AM. His flight was at 6 AM sharp, so he had to start heading out now, but like this he couldn’t move an inch.
“You booked a flight to New York?”
But the thought didn’t last long. The moment he heard the words spilling from Choi Moohyuk’s mouth, he could only stare at Choi Moohyuk with a dazed face.
“Want to run away?”
A merciless gaze pierced into Lee Hyunjoon.
“Then, try begging, at least.”
Choi Moohyuk flung away the handful of Lee Hyunjoon’s hair he had been holding.
“Not that there’s any chance it’ll work.”
He flicked the blood off his half gloves and fingers into the air and lifted his eyes.
“…Sp-save me.”
Sprawled on the floor, Lee Hyunjoon adjusted his posture and prostrated himself. He begged without realizing it. It wasn’t a trick to somehow get out of this situation like before, but an instinct to survive.
He only realized it now. The difference in power was overwhelming, and no matter what he did, he couldn’t escape this place.
So there was only one thing Lee Hyunjoon could do now.
“Save me. I was wrong. I won’t ever, ever go near Ji Yeonwoo again. So just this once, just once.”
Lee Hyunjoon begged on his hands and knees. Blood streaming from his head beaded and dripped from his chin, but he paid it no mind. With his mind half gone, he didn’t even know what he was saying or how, but he had to beg to live.
Looking down at that Lee Hyunjoon, Choi Moohyuk pressed his fingers against the corner of his eye. His gesture was full of fatigue and weariness. Ha, his closed lips parted, and a scoff escaped with a shallow breath.
Begging and pleading, Lee Hyunjoon sensed something was wrong and slowly stopped his hands.
Silence settled over the room. Goosebumps rose all over his body until every hair stood on end, and a cold sweat ran down his back.
His eyes cast down, Choi Moohyuk had been staring at that Lee Hyunjoon. Slowly, he withdrew his gaze and turned around.
“…Drag him away.”
“…!”
At his single uttered command, Park Jincheol and the subordinates under him, who had entered the room at some point, approached Lee Hyunjoon.
Once, my late mother had said something like this. That the connections people form in life each carry their own meaning, great or small, and so are precious. So she always used to say, as if it were a mantra, that I must not treat thoughtlessly the connections that come to me.
Choi Moohyuk had lived by those words as a creed until now. He had thought that precious connections stay by your side, and insignificant ones are meant to teach you a lesson not to repeat the same mistake and to keep your distance — but this piece of trash before him was a little different.
