Flower Fiancé Chapter 88

Choi Moohyuk cut off Ji Yeonwoo’s words with a single stroke.

“The director of Seonwoo General Hospital is practically my father’s man. If Mr. Yeonwoo undergoes testing, you’d have to be hospitalized for at least one night and two days, and in that case, various information about Mr. Ji Yeonwoo could leak to my father.”

“Ah, that could happen. I didn’t anticipate that.”

“Of course, he may already know a certain amount about Mr. Yeonwoo, but too much exposure of information will work against us in negotiations.”

“Then is there no choice but to look into another hospital?”

Ji Yeonwoo, who had stopped speaking, reached out and picked up the phone that had been placed on the side table. Still fumbling with the new phone that Park Jincheol had newly opened for him, as it wasn’t yet familiar in his hands, he turned on the screen and entered a portal site.

“Even if we bring a specialist’s opinion, I’ve heard that large hospitals have long waiting lists and we’d have to wait a long time. Would that be alright?”

As he searched for general hospitals, Choi Moohyuk gently lowered the phone that Ji Yeonwoo was holding in front of his face with his fingers.

“Isn’t there one doctor among the people we know.”

“A doctor?”

Ji Yeonwoo blinked his eyes open in surprise.

“Although his specialty is different, he said the hospital he works at is a general hospital too, so if we ask nicely, he should be able to move up the appointment date, at least.”

Blinking his eyes, Ji Yeonwoo let out a small “Ah,” as if just remembering.

Ji Yeonwoo had fallen asleep under the influence of the medication. It had seemed about four hours since he’d fallen asleep, but perhaps he was very exhausted, as he didn’t wake up easily.

Sitting leaning against him, Choi Moohyuk, who had been reviewing documents, gently swept aside his bothersome bangs with his index finger. Mmm, Ji Yeonwoo wriggled and pressed his body closer to where Choi Moohyuk was. Tossing and turning, Ji Yeonwoo then let out an even breath and fell back into sleep.

He sleeps well. Gazing at that Yeonwoo, Choi Moohyuk turned his eyes to his vibrating phone. Upon confirming the name on the screen, he put the documents down on his lap and answered the call.

[It’s been a while. Have you been well?]

“Yes. Have you been well?”

After exchanging light greetings with the other party, Choi Moohyuk looked at Ji Yeonwoo sleeping beside him.

[What brings you to call so suddenly?]

“I have a favor to ask, so I called knowing it’s late.”

[A favor, you say….]

“It’s nothing else, but Mr. Yeonwoo needs to undergo a pheromone test, and I was hoping to get some help.”

[You mean a pheromone test? Has something happened?]

“It seems….”

Pausing his words for a moment, Choi Moohyuk turned his head toward Ji Yeonwoo, who was drowsily asleep beside him.

“It seems there is an abnormality with Mr. Ji Yeonwoo’s pheromones.”

The person Choi Moohyuk was speaking with was Yoo Seonho, Seo Eungyeom’s Mister and a general surgery specialist.

Taking the steering wheel, Choi Moohyuk glanced sideways at Ji Yeonwoo sitting in the passenger seat. With a flushed face, Ji Yeonwoo repeatedly readjusted his two hands resting on his lap, clearly making an effort to shake off his tension.

Yoo Seonho willingly agreed to Choi Moohyuk’s request for cooperation. Saying that the newly appointed endocrinology specialist happened to be a close classmate, he said he would look into it at the earliest possible time and gave a definitive answer when he called back exactly four days later.

Normally, university hospitals and general hospitals are saturated with just their existing patients and often have appointments booked up months in advance, but luckily, there was said to be exactly one appointment slot opening up a week later on Tuesday. However, since it was an urgently arranged schedule, one issue arose.

“Are you really sure it’ll be alright?”

Glancing at Ji Yeonwoo out of the corner of his eye, Choi Moohyuk took his hand. Ji Yeonwoo, who had been so tense his body was rigid, turned his head in surprise.

“I’m asking if it’s really alright to undergo all the tests on the same day without being admitted.”

After booking the medical appointment, this time the hospital room was the problem. Upon hearing that not only the VIP rooms but even the six-person rooms were all full and they would have to wait, Ji Yeonwoo deliberated for a moment, then countered by asking if same-day testing was not possible. Yoo Seonho said same-day testing was possible, but it would be very taxing and asked if he would be alright with that, and Ji Yeonwoo answered that it was fine and to go ahead with that date.

Stopped at a red light, Choi Moohyuk held the steering wheel with his left arm and turned his body toward Ji Yeonwoo. He understood his feelings, but he worried whether proceeding under such a strain was wise.

“According to Mr. Yoo Seonho, it’s only a month or two if we wait. There’s no need to rush so much.”

Ji Yeonwoo, seeing Choi Moohyuk’s expression filled with worry, smiled gently.

“I’m not pushing myself. Thanks to you, Mr. Moohyuk, taking good care of me all this time, I’ve rested comfortably and my body has recovered a lot.”

Come to think of it, he had gained a bit of weight compared to when he first entered the house, but could that really be called recovery? Ji Yeonwoo’s body was still so thin that when touching his chest, arms, or legs, hard bone was more palpable than flesh.

“Really. It’ll be okay. Don’t worry too much.”

When Choi Moohyuk’s expression still didn’t ease despite his reassuring words, Ji Yeonwoo wrapped both his hands around the hand that was placed over his. Choi Moohyuk, who had been about to say something, couldn’t bear to add more and let out a small breath, running his hand through his bangs.

He disliked the situation they were faced with in many ways, but he couldn’t break the stubborn Ji Yeonwoo’s will. If he himself said it was fine, what more could he say?

While he was lost in thoughts full of worry and concern, the car was entering the parking lot of the general hospital where Yoo Seonho worked.

“Oh? Mister.”

Stepping out of the elevator, Ji Yeonwoo called out upon seeing a familiar back figure dressed in a white doctor’s gown. He hadn’t specifically called a name, but the person who turned around at the sound was Yoo Seonho, Seo Eungyeom’s lover.

“Long time no see. Have you been well?”

After exchanging brief greetings with Ji Yeonwoo, Yoo Seonho shook hands with Choi Moohyuk in lieu of a greeting. Though he learned this later, it turned out that even though today was a day with no surgeries or outpatient appointments, he had deliberately stayed at the hospital for Ji Yeonwoo.

Yoo Seonho rolled up his sleeve and checked the time.

“We’ll talk after the tests. Let’s go up first. Since it’s same-day testing, the schedule is tight.”

And so they moved toward the escalator to head to where the first test was scheduled.

“We’ll move according to the pre-planned route. We’ll start with the blood test first since its results take the longest. You’ve been fasting, right?”

“Yes. I’ve had an empty stomach since yesterday evening.”

“Good. It’ll be tough, but hang in there for just one day.”

Riding the escalator up to the second floor, Yoo Seonho turned to Ji Yeonwoo and spoke dependably. Ji Yeonwoo stared at Yoo Seonho’s figure as he faced forward again.

He thought about how greatly he was benefiting from the good people around him, both Choi Moohyuk and Yoo Seonho. He also wondered if someone would really go to such lengths merely because he was a close friend of a lover, without any particular memory of having done anything special for them.

“Mister.”

At the address, Yoo Seonho looked back, and Choi Moohyuk, standing beside him, turned his head toward Ji Yeonwoo.

“Thank you. I’ll definitely repay this kindness.”

“For something like this. I’ll accept your thanks after you get a verdict that your pheromones have recovered.”

At the unexpected words, Yoo Seonho wore a slightly surprised expression, but soon lifted the corners of his lips in a handsome smile. As he walked following Yoo Seonho, who had stepped off on the second floor, a large hand gently covered his crown. Tilting his head upward, he saw Choi Moohyuk silently stroking the crown of Ji Yeonwoo’s head. Receiving that touch, which felt exactly like praise for doing well, Ji Yeonwoo leaned his head against Choi Moohyuk.

Entering the changing room and emerging changed into a gown, Ji Yeonwoo started with the blood test right away. An assistant accompanied him for the tests, and there was nothing in particular for Yoo Seonho or Choi Moohyuk to do.

Just because they called it a detailed examination didn’t mean there was anything special. They performed standard tests like blood work, ultrasound, X-ray, and other common examinations, but among them, it was often the case that tests were repeated several times in order to extract more detailed results.

The blood test was a prime example of this. Seeing blood drawn into seven kits labeled with blood labels, Choi Moohyuk frowned. Watching this, he felt he understood why they had said the tests would be carried out over one night and two days.

The tests that had started at 9 AM were finally completed when 4 PM was nearly approaching. The very last slot, as always, was the consultation with the doctor in charge.
