If Odely had not experienced regression, she might have felt a little nervous at the thought of facing them at the wedding.

But now, not at all……

“Your Highness, they do not affect me in the slightest.”

“If the miracle of the ‘ancient magic’ that Cardel created all came from your power, then that is terrible abuse and exploitation.”

There was raw anger in Ludville’s voice.

“There’s only so much you can do pretending to be fine. How could they do something like that so casually…….”

“…….”

Odely gave up on explaining.

She had a strong feeling that the more she insisted she was fine, the deeper his misunderstanding would become.

Instead, she calmly changed the subject.

“Anyway, only one person with ‘purification ability’ is born in the Cardel family in each generation.”

“……So that means you are the only one in this generation.”

Ludville looked troubled as he watched her suddenly change the subject, then his expression quickly hardened with seriousness.

“Does that mean the next person with purification ability will not be born until you die?”

“That’s right. You understand quickly.”

“So that’s why they were searching so desperately…….”

But the Cardel family would now decide that it was difficult to persuade Odely to return.

If so…….

Odely nodded.

“They will try to kill me. Surely.”

She did not bother mentioning that she was terminally ill.

But she had told him all the other important information.

So that Ludville could prepare in advance for how Cardel might move.

But then Ludville, who had seemed to be lost in deep thought…….

“……Let’s make it a love elopement.”

He suddenly came to a ridiculous conclusion.

“What?”

Odely asked back with a blank expression.

“I mean, in front of other people, let’s make it look like we are lovers who cannot live without each other.”

“What?”

What on earth was he talking about?

She kept doubting her ears, going over what she had just heard again and again.

But Ludville was serious.

‘What is he talking about right now?’

While she was flustered, Ludville uncrossed his arms and slowly took one step toward her.

“Cardel will probably be the greatest threat, but now that your purification ability is known to some extent, countless others will appear who want you.”

Odely blinked slowly, then fell into deep thought.

‘Now that I think about it…….’

In the thousands of lives Ludville had lived through, there had been several times when he revealed her ability to the world.

Every time, malicious groups and mentally unstable groups had clung to her.

Not to mention Cardel.

‘I wasn’t paying much attention because I thought I only had to endure for five years.’

But now that she heard it put that way, she had a chilling feeling that she might die an absurd, unexpected death before her life even came to an end.

Still, no matter what…….

“Of course, I had no intention of revealing to the outside world that this was a contract marriage. Wouldn’t it be enough to simply say that we are getting married officially?”

“With just that justification, I cannot protect you.”

“…….”

“Marriage can be a political transaction. And a political marriage is a relationship that either side can break off as long as the conditions are right. That is how people on the outside will see it.”

Since he was the Grand Duke and Odely was the daughter of a ducal family, that meant people would see them as having a political marriage.

That was simply how nobles thought.

“You could become the spark that starts a war. Because you have purification ability, the Imperial Family, the nobles, and other factions will all desire you. You could be traded, taken away, or torn apart.”

That was the cold reality.

He looked straight at Odely and continued.

“But ‘love’ is different. Love is a personal emotion, and it is extremely subjective.”

“So you mean it cannot be used as a means of negotiation.”

“It is also difficult for outsiders to interfere or become politically involved.”

That much was true.

Wasn’t this the very method Ludville had often used in the past, during the countless lives he had lived through regression?

No matter what anyone said about her, no matter how reasonable or justified the issue they raised was……

“So, are you saying you have a complaint about my wife?”

He silenced his opponent with a single sentence.

No one dared to ask him anything back.

If anyone touched her, he would bite them like a mad dog, ignoring even political appearances.

That was how he had been back then.

Not because acting that way was politically advantageous, as it was now.

But because he had truly, desperately loved Odely.

And yet, seeing him insist that he would pretend to act that way now made her feel strangely uncomfortable.

“That works out well.”

Ludville continued calmly.

“Rather than being treated like the iron-blooded Grand Duke from before, someone without blood or tears, wouldn’t being called a madman suit me much better?”

“……What exactly suits you?”

“Playing the lovesick husband.”

“…….”

He spoke in the same calm tone.

“I will announce that you are the blue-eyed woman I have been searching for so desperately.”

At those words, Odely’s eyes trembled ever so slightly.

For a moment, her heart sank with a heavy thud.

Had Ludville recognized her long ago and been testing her all this time?

Had he regained his memories?

Or had he somehow sensed it instinctively?

In that brief moment, dozens of thoughts floated through her mind.

“Is there a problem?”

But the moment she looked into his eyes, every possibility collapsed.

‘Ah, he really is saying this without knowing anything.’

The person he had just mentioned was standing right in front of him.

Odely could understand why he had said it without even needing to hear an explanation.

It was not simply an idea or an emotional outburst, but a carefully calculated decision.

Ludville had been spreading the story throughout the Empire that he was searching for ‘the blue-eyed woman.’

Of course, he had not intentionally spread it himself. He had simply been desperately searching for her, desperate enough to lose his mind……

Anyway, that was what had happened as a result.

Before long, the rumor had turned into the tragic story of a lover, in which the Grand Duke had gone mad because of one woman.

And now, he was going to give that mad love story to Odely.

Not simply a story of ‘he married her because he loved her,’ but a story of a love so insane that ‘the Grand Duke went mad because of her’……

‘The fact that this is actually the truth, and that I really am his blue-eyed lover…… It’s quite ironic.’

Either way, once that story was added, Odely would become someone no one could touch.

Not even Cardel.

Not even the Emperor.

No one would dare carelessly lay a hand on her.

That was partly because of the immense power and military strength Ludville possessed, but more than that……

‘Who would dare touch the bone that the mad dog who bites even its owner treasures most?’

After all, when it comes to crazy people, the normal thing is to avoid them first.

You never know where they will lash out, and they have no limits.

“We will hold a magnificent wedding, grand enough to make even the Imperial Family jealous, and throughout the entire ceremony, I will stare only at my wife and act like a man who has gone mad with love.”

  1. Clever.

I wish the OG author didn’t repeat the paragraphs so often. Literally one thing is being turned around and talked about three times across half of the chapter before we can move on..
Is this the way those online-novels are made, to fulfill the quota of characters?
