His Breeding Obsession Chapter 165
It seemed that her efforts to teach Grecan warmth and positive emotions were finally bearing fruit, and she felt a sense of pride.
“That’s why Kan has become quite popular.”
“…Huh?”
Mirania tilted her head and stared at Wigenia.
“What did you say?”
“You know, the children we rescued from the slave traders after the gangchis attacked? Some girls among them really like Kan.”
Wigenia’s eyes sparkled as if sharing a fun story, but Mirania remained indifferent at the mention of girls.
Wigenia waved her hands dismissively and added, “Even the grown women feel the same. Just the other day, one of them made him a flower ring! The girls even sneak glances at him… Oh, look, there they are.”
Wigenia pointed out the window with her finger.
Mirania spotted a group of girls hiding around the corner of the building, stealing glances at Grecan.
“Oho!”
Whenever Grecan’s gaze turned their way, they quickly hid. But as soon as he looked away, they peeked out again, giggling.
Their flushed cheeks were clearly visible to Mirania.
“Well, I’ve truly seen it all now.”
Her exasperated sigh carried a tone of genuine disbelief, and Wigenia chuckled.
“Why? Kan is quite handsome, even if he’s a bit intimidating.”
“Handsome?”
Mirania felt a strange unfamiliarity with the idea. She had never thought of Grecan in that way.
‘Of course, objectively speaking, he’s not lacking in appearance.’
Still, the idea of someone blushing over Grecan or complimenting his looks felt oddly foreign.
‘There was even a fight once because Libby brought women around him. Time has flown by too quickly while I wasn’t paying attention.’
The current Grecan was undeniably tall and imposing, someone anyone would describe as dignified and impressive.
[You little devil. Can’t you be precise?]
[I only said to kiss her, just a kiss. But the girl was a bit… enthusiastic, so a slight problem arose.]
‘That same Grecan has now become a man women desire.’
Mirania chuckled softly as she recalled the past.
Just then, Donnie, who had quietly approached, asked, “By the way, what’s your relationship with him?”
“Why do you ask?”
“It just seems… unusual. I’ve always been curious.”
Mirania opened her eyes fully, pondered for a moment, and then replied casually.
“Isn’t it obvious? It’s similar to your relationship with me.”
“Teacher and student?”
“Just a bit longer, that’s all.”
“Ah…”
Donnie sighed in relief.
Wigenia handed him a snack.
“You’ve been studying hard, so eat up. By the way, Donnie, you’ve grown quite a bit recently.”
“Haha, really? I guess it’s because I’ve been eating well lately.”
Donnie scratched the back of his head and glanced at Mirania. As his laughter escaped, a few eyes turned their way.
Seeing Donnie and Mirania together, Grecan strode over.
When Grecan’s cold gaze landed on him, Donnie, feeling the weight of the stare, subtly stepped back.
“I’ll go work on the assignment Miss Witch gave me.”
Grecan naturally took a seat beside Mirania and smirked.
“What were you talking about?”
“Oh, nothing much.”
“It seemed like you were having an interesting conversation.”
Though he was smiling, there was a persistent undertone that made Mirania narrow her eyes slightly.
“I was just saying how popular you’ve become.”
“Really? I hadn’t noticed.”
Grecan tilted his head and chuckled lightly.
“And?”
“Donnie asked about our relationship, so I answered.”
“Ahh.”
Grecan responded casually, picking up a flat cookie and bringing it to Mirania’s lips.
Mirania absentmindedly took a bite.
Crunch, crunch!
The sound of chewing filled the air.
Seeing her instinctively nod at the sweetness, Grecan propped his chin on his hand and asked nonchalantly.
“So, what did you say?”
“I told him it’s not much different from his relationship with me, just longer.”
This time, Grecan’s eyes narrowed. He picked up another snack and brought it to Mirania’s mouth.
The sweetness made her open her mouth without thinking, and the snack quickly popped in.
As Grecan’s finger withdrew, it brushed against her lips. The strange sensation made her chew more slowly.
She glanced at Grecan, who was staring at her with an unreadable expression.
“What’s with you?”
“What do you mean? Is something wrong?”
“You seem… off.”
Grecan, with no trace of a smile, continued to stare at her intently before finally looking away.
Wigenia, who had been silent, widened her eyes at his gaze.
“Could you… give us some space?”
At his dry request, Wigenia’s face turned bright red.
“Ah, yes. Of course.”
Unlike her usual composure, Wigenia hurriedly moved away.
‘Why is she acting so strange?’
As Mirania watched Wigenia’s retreating figure, Grecan’s voice reached her ears.
“I need to go to the imperial palace for a bit.”
“The imperial palace?”
“Yeah.”
“What for?”
Grecan pulled out a piece of parchment from his pocket and held it between two fingers.
As he rubbed his fingers together, a faint spark ignited, and the parchment quickly turned to ash.
“It’s a note from Hakan. He says they’ve found traces of the resistance leader.”
Grecan turned his head and locked eyes with Mirania.
“So, I need to go check it out and come back.”
Mirania simply stared at him. Though she said nothing, her eyes spoke volumes.
Grecan’s expression hardened, and his voice dropped to a dangerous low.
“That guy is different from the humans here.”
“…”
What’s different? At her puzzled look, Grecan smirked.
“He’s of the Crown Prince’s bloodline.”
“The Crown Prince’s bloodline?”
Mirania repeated blankly as Grecan stood up.
“So, you won’t see me for a while.”
“…”
“You might not miss me much, but I’ll come back as soon as I can. Sadly, I’ll miss not seeing you.”
“Why are you saying such…”
Grecan vanished in an instant.
“…things?”
Only then did Mirania realize that her casual response to his question had hurt his feelings?
‘Isn’t it obvious? Should I have explained everything in front of them?’
Saying her relationship with Grecan was no different from her relationship with Donnie wasn’t the full truth.
She simply hadn’t felt the need to be completely honest, and no clear answer had come to mind.
After all, how could Grecan, who had been with her for far longer than Donnie’s mere year, be the same? Grecan was…
‘You are… precious to me in your own way.’
Her mind grew chaotic again, so instead of overthinking, Mirania recalled Grecan’s parting words.
‘He said it was the Crown Prince’s bloodline. But that’s strange.’
[Hoho, it’s not that I’m naive to believe it. It’s a fact no one knows, but the Crown Prince is incapable of having children.]
The Empress had clearly said that long ago.
💫
The day after Grecan left, Mirania ventured out with the school’s teachers to rally the hidden humans, traveling quite far.
“Miss Witch, you’re a master at finding people. How do you know where to look?”
They had just rescued two families hiding in an underground bunker to escape slave traders.
Donnie, his cheeks flushed with excitement, blurted out.
“We save people in trouble under the name of Milgram. Now, even those who hear the news quickly seem to know about Milgram. One of the family members we just saved knew about it too.”
“Donnie, this isn’t something to be too happy about. If our name is known, it means our enemies might have heard of us, too.”
At Derrick’s serious warning, a sense of caution appeared on Donnie’s face. The mood turned somber, and Derrick chuckled softly.
“No need to be so scared, kid. Just focus on studying magic harder. We’re all building our strength for times like these.”
“I’ll work hard.”
The children who had been brought into the rescue operations after showing progress in their training also responded with determined expressions.
Derrick laughed and slung an arm around Donnie and the kids’ shoulders.
“That’s right. You have to work hard. Now that our organization has grown quite a bit, we’re thinking of splitting into groups and sending them to the provinces.”
“Huh?”
“The people suffering under the tyranny of the beast folk aren’t just here in the capital. If we rescue them and bring them into our fold, Milgram will become a nationwide organization. And that’s exactly what we need to stand against the imperial palace.”
Unlike their cautious and hesitant attitudes from a few months ago, everyone at the school now seemed to have gained some confidence.
Mirania, who found the overall lively atmosphere much better than before, overheard Wigenia’s worried voice.
“Professor has been absent a lot lately. Do you think there’s some issue with the higher-ups?”
Minella answered, “The meetings that used to happen once a month have become more frequent. However the higher-ups have been supportive of Milgram’s establishment and activities. If there were a problem, they would have told us. Don’t worry too much.”
Listening to the conversation, Mirania fell into thought.
‘Come to think of it, his behavior has been strange lately.’
She recalled Horus’s recent demeanor. It was suspicious.
There wasn’t anything specific she could point to as odd, but her instincts told her something was off.
Especially the way he hesitated whenever he saw her as if he had something to say, was the most peculiar.
Mirania decided to observe him more closely when he returned. Just then, the falcon guiding their path flew swiftly back and began circling above Mirania’s head before landing on her shoulder.
The falcon was serving as a scout.
{Th-there’s someone up ahead. They’re terrifying. It feels like they’ll swallow me whole if I get too close.}
The trembling falcon tried to hide its small head behind Mirania’s ear. She gently infused it with a warm energy to calm it down.
“Was it a beast folk?”
The falcon, now calmed, bobbed its beak up and down.
{Yes. They look like they could swallow me in one bite. And next to them, another person is emitting an incredibly, incredibly scary aura. I’m so frightened. I almost forgot how to flap my wings.}
Though the falcon was exaggerating, its genuine fear made Mirania hum thoughtfully.
If even the brave falcon, which could escape danger with its incredible speed, was this frightened, it meant there was someone truly formidable nearby.
