The Tyrant Won’t Let Me Go Chapter 112
Cedric plunged his sword deep into Jayden and swiftly pulled it out, the blade now dripping with dark magic.
Yet, Jayden Ackeleta was still alive. His pitch-black eyes wide open.
“Tell me. What are you? My magic shouldn’t fail against a normal human.”
Cedric, noticing the massive shadow of Jayden looming over me, rushed to block him and pointed his sword.
“Don’t touch her. I’ll kill you.”
His crimson eyes, filled with killing intent, glowed brightly, and the red magic stone embedded in his sword emitted a threatening light.
But Jayden didn’t flinch. Instead, he smiled wickedly.
“Your swords won’t work on me. My body, having absorbed so much magic, heals instantly from any wound.”
That was why he remained unharmed even after having his neck slashed and his backstabbed.
“Until now, the only one who could withstand my magic was Persephine, that damned woman.”
I gritted my teeth at the sight of Jayden’s unscathed body and the dark magic energy flowing from his skin.
‘He’s not human.’
He was closer to a monster than anything else.
“Now I see. So you’re the true master of Caliberne, Knight Commander.”
At those words, a red flash erupted from Cedric’s sword. He then pushed me behind him, shielding me from Jayden.
“Don’t touch her!”
With a thunderous roar, a blinding red flash shot toward Jayden, filling the room with light.
While the lightning strike disrupted Jayden’s focus, we lunged forward, and I also unleashed a blue electric blast at him.
“I told you it’s useless!”
Jayden let out an insane scream as dark magic exploded from his body.
Unable to use defensive magic, I tried to block the incoming dark flashes with my electric attacks, but it wasn’t enough.
“Argh!”
“Your Majesty!”
Finally, a dark flash pierced Cedric’s leg.
Cedric screamed in unbearable pain and collapsed, bleeding.
As Jayden closed in, I pointed my sword at him and pulled Cedric into my arms to shield him from further attacks.
“Ciel, no.”
Even in that state, Cedric didn’t let go of his sword. Gritting his teeth, he fired a flash at the wall, creating an exit in the previously enclosed room.
“Ciel, run—”
Just then, Jayden raised his hand, and I immediately swung my sword at him.
But a mass of dark magic swallowed the bright blue flash.
The dark mass then exploded, solidifying into sharp fragments that rained down like shards of glass.
My back, hands, neck, and legs—
The sharp fragments tore through my body.
The taste of blood filled my mouth.
Blood soon spilled from my split lips.
“Ciel!!”
As I weakened from Jayden’s attack, dark magic began to gather around Cedric’s body.
Before I could react, his body floated into the air, and Jayden laughed maliciously as he watched.
“Finally caught you. I’ve been dying to kill you in this lifetime.”
“Let him go…!”
“I’ll make it slow and painful.”
Dark magic gathered around Cedric’s neck as he struggled to break free from Jayden’s spell.
In an instant, the dark magic clung to his neck like a noose, tightening around it, and sparks of magic crackled threateningly.
This was undoubtedly some kind of curse.
“Aaaah!”
“Your Majesty!”
The moment I saw Cedric writhing in agony, trying to tear the dark magic from his neck, my vision blurred.
“This is the price for annoying me in this lifetime. You didn’t even have Caliberne, yet you dared to confuse me with your tricks—”
Desperate, I charged at Jayden, who was emitting dark magic from his fingertips.
The blood from the wounds caused by the dark magic stung as it dripped into my eyes, and my body felt like it was being torn apart, but I didn’t stop.
‘I’ll kill him.’
I channeled all the magic within me into my sword.
Filled with rage, I swung the sword, now glowing intensely with blue light, and the stone walls and floor were deeply gouged.
The sound of thunder roared, the ground shook, and everything in the room shattered.
Only Jayden remained standing, unharmed by the attack.
“Good. Someone who has absorbed the Sword of Victory should at least be capable of this.”
Gritting my teeth at his smugness, I pointed my still-sparking sword at him and said,
“Release the curse now, unless you want to die.”
“Then hand over the sword.”
Magic surged through my entire body.
It felt like the magic would tear through my skin and burst out at any moment.
But I had to endure. Unless Jayden lifted the curse himself, the only way to break the curse strangling Cedric was to kill the caster—Jayden.
“Ci…el. No, stop the lightning… Run away…”
Blood was streaming from Cedric’s neck due to the curse.
Even in that state, with blood pouring from his hands and neck, he was only worried about me.
“Now that there’s no one to interfere, let’s have a proper fight.”
Then, Jayden appeared in front of me in an instant, as if he had teleported.
As he swung his sword at my neck, I barely managed to dodge by throwing myself to the side. I immediately countered by swinging my sword at his artery.
‘I have to hold on.’
If I fell, Cedric would be finished.
Jayden would undoubtedly kill Cedric, who had no one left to protect him, and devour Deamant.
Our blades clashed repeatedly in the air, and each time, Jayden let out a horrifying laugh.
“Yes, even after fighting like this, you’re still standing! This must be the power of Caliberne!”
His speed was unnaturally fast, likely due to his body being enhanced by dark magic.
If my focus wavered even slightly, I would be stabbed, and Caliberne would be taken from me.
‘No. I have to hold on no matter what.’
Finally, I made a decision.
[Ciel, no! If you go any further, you’ll—]
I heard Caliberne’s voice trying to stop me, but I gritted my teeth and ignored her plea. I squeezed out every last ounce of strength and unleashed another lightning strike.
“Ciel!!”
The lightning struck Jayden directly.
“Hah, hack…”
My vision blurred, and I couldn’t breathe.
It felt like my flesh was being torn apart.
Even so, I gritted my teeth and held on, but at that moment of weakness, a dark flash pierced my leg.
Finally, my legs gave out, and I collapsed to the floor.
“You’re persistent. Only now are you finally breaking.”
“…Release His Majesty. Take me instead…”
I couldn’t finish my sentence as blood gushed up my throat.
Unable to hold it back, I vomited blood, and Jayden looked down at me with a sneer before crouching to meet my eyes.
“Really, you’re stubborn to the point of stupidity—”
Before he could finish his sentence, a silver blade sliced through the air.
Still refusing to give up, I desperately swung my sword at his neck.
Clang—
The sound of something metallic hitting the floor echoed.
‘Huh…?’
The sword, which had been gleaming silver, was now cleanly broken in two.
As the sword shattered, the sapphire that had always glowed with a faint light lost its shine.
Then, with a speed that seemed inhuman, Jayden swung his fist at me. I couldn’t even follow the movement with my eyes before I was slammed to the ground.
The impact caused me to drop the hilt of the sword I had been holding.
“You’re a nuisance. If I had fought you purely with swordsmanship, I might have lost.”
Jayden looked down at me with cold eyes as he spoke.
Those pitch-black eyes were unbearably hateful, and I felt utterly powerless as I lay on the ground, unable to do anything but stare back at them.
“Ci…el…!”
I could hear Cedric’s desperate voice calling out to me from behind.
I needed to tell him I was okay.
I needed to save him right now.
But my body wouldn’t move.
‘…No. I made a promise.’
I had vowed to give Cedric a happy ending, no matter what. I couldn’t let it end like this, so meaninglessly.
Then, something shiny caught my eye.
The upper half of the broken sword. The blade, now without its hilt, lay not too far away.
“I’m amazed your spirit isn’t broken yet.”
It was out of reach now, but if I pretended to writhe in pain, I might be able to grab it.
‘If I can just get that blade…’
I had hoped to avoid using this method, but I had no choice.
