The hotel lobby was luxuriously decorated for the end of the year.

As expected of a large accommodation in a popular tourist destination, it was spacious, clean, and well-staffed.

“Wow! This place is so pretty!”

Until he saw Lilith happily stomping her feet in excitement, Oscar Manuel had been in a good mood.

Enoch had been bothering him so much that he pretended to give in and said he would stay for a day…

Well, he thought that leaving behind memories like this once in a while wouldn’t be so bad.

But the problem arose at the front desk when they were about to receive their room keys.

“I told them there would be two companions! After your walk, just ask for the key to the room booked under ‘James Brown’!”

That damn James Brown…

Four staff members, all dressed up in their uniforms, were waiting at the counter.

“James Brown.”

He said the name of the person who had made the reservation without thinking, but for some reason there was no response.

Oscar, who felt strange for a moment, looked at the employees’ expressions with sharp eyes.

He blinked his eyes blankly.

A strange expression, glancing back and forth between himself and Lilith.

Soon, one of the employees put down the key.

“Room 1009 on the 10th floor, a family room. Please use the warp gate on the 2nd floor.”

“….?”

Is that all?

Oscar frowned and asked.

“Don’t you have another room?”

“There are three guests, correct? The reservation under Mr. James Brown includes only one family room.”

“….”

Only then did Oscar realize why the employees’ expressions were strange.

A room where a man had already entered.

Two men and a woman were about to enter the room.

‘Are you crazy?’

Oscar was speechless.

Then he thought of Enoch’s face, laughing like an idiot.

Did that person have no idea?

Did he think that people would only use the family room if they added the word family in front of it?

“Give me another room.”

“Sorry, but we don’t have any rooms left right now.”

You must be joking.

The employees’ expressions became even more strange, as if they thought Oscar was watching them.

The thoughts in his head were obvious.

He must have been imagining all sorts of things about the relationship between the suspicious guests.

I was so flustered that my lips went dry on their own.

“Huh? Master, why?”

Just then, Lilith, completely oblivious, clung to him and called out, “Master!”

They didn’t look alike anyway, so no one would’ve believed it—but now, even pretending to be her older brother or a relative was out of the question.

“Why are you suddenly acting like we need separate rooms? The three of us can just sleep together. We’ve slept together plenty of times.”

“Hey, why don’t you be quiet?”

Oscar hurriedly lowered his voice and whispered. Lilith tilted her head in confusion, not understanding why.

‘I wonder if someone will say we’re not father and daughter.’

Looking at Lilith’s face, which resembled Enoch’s so much, Oscar let out a deep sigh.

This father and daughter so naturally included Oscar within the bounds of “family” without a second thought.

So that damned fool must’ve booked only one room without thinking.

The fool’s daughter probably doesn’t realize how this situation looks to others, blabbering nonsense like, “We’ve slept together plenty of times.”

With no other choice, Oscar’s hand trembled as he picked up the room key.

When he glanced up,

‘Seriously, this is messed up.’

All the staff were sneaking glances at the two of them with curious, suspicious looks.

At least if he were going in with Enoch, whose face was so obviously similar it practically screamed family, maybe it wouldn’t have looked so weird.

If not that, then it’s probably common for couples to come here on trips, so just the two of you can go into one room without the staff thinking anything is strange.

But the current situation is really…

‘Seriously… this is so f**ked up.’

A relationship between him and Lilith that couldn’t be defined in a single word.

He was used to the countless misunderstandings that came because of it. They were the kind of misunderstandings that couldn’t be explained away.

Oscar was extremely embarrassed every time this happened.

He had lived his life without ever caring about what others thought.

He didn’t care if people misunderstood him—but seeing Lilith get misunderstood really pissed him off.

“…Let’s go.”

“Okay~”

But he couldn’t just go snapping at the staff, demanding to know what they were thinking.

He decided to just ignore it. Oscar clenched the key tightly in his trembling hand and turned around, walking away.

His head was full of thoughts.

When the child was younger than this, it didn’t feel like much of a problem…

Lilith is all grown up now.

She’ll be getting married soon.

Enoch, the father, wouldn’t have to worry about this.

But what about him?

But now, the time had come when his vague, undefined relationship with the child was starting to spark even more misunderstandings.

If only I were a woman?

If only the age difference was bigger?

Thinking about such trivial thoughts, he felt a new sense of sadness.

I guess I can’t even go out and have fun with the kid without worrying anymore.

“Ha.”

Feeling the stinging gaze on his back, Oscar came to a halt and closed his eyes slowly.

Remembering the looks people had given Lilith—those suspicious, judgmental eyes — made him feel wronged and frustrated.

“Master?”

He turned around quickly and walked briskly to the counter.

And then he said,

“Do you not give your lodging staff basic training in common decency or something?”

“…Yes?”

Oscar added, gritting his teeth.

“Watch where you’re looking. Before I rip those eyes out.”

All the staff’s mouths dropped open in shock.

Soon, one of the staff members who had been looking at each other in embarrassment lowered his head.

“I’m sorry if you felt uncomfortable. It seems there was a misunderstanding.”

“F*ck misunderstanding.”

Even after snapping, he still didn’t feel any better.

The fact that they apologized right away—just as he expected.

It meant he hadn’t just been overreacting or being sensitive for no reason.

“M, Master!”

Oscar strode up the stairs, leaving behind the child who followed him in surprise.

“Master, what’s wrong all of a sudden? Why are you picking a fight? What’s gotten you so upset?”

“….”

At the second floor, in front of the gate, Oscar turned to look at Lilith.

As he looked at the innocent expression of the child, as if to say, “I don’t know anything,”

“…Just a kiss.”

—he suddenly found those words a lot more believable.

Oscar firmly grabbed Lilith’s arm and started lightly smacking her shoulder again and again.

“You little brat! You little brat!”

Clap! Clap! Clap!

“Ahh! It hurts! Why?! Why are you hitting me!”

Lilith ran away from Oscar.

“What the heck is this all of a sudden?!”

“Are you seriously that clueless? Didn’t you notice the way those people were looking at you? Haven’t we been through enough of these damn misunderstandings already?”

“….?”

“If it’s just the two of us, of course they’re gonna assume we’re a couple! And yet you go, ‘We can just sleep all three of us in one room’? ‘We’ve done it before, haven’t we?’ Seriously, Princess, do you even think before you speak?”

“Ah.”

“Ah, what the heck!”

Oscar was so frustrated that he almost burst.

“I see…”

“I see?”

“Oh—oh, I’m sorry. I just… didn’t even think it could be seen that way. I wasn’t paying attention to their expressions at all.”

“….”

Oscar stared at Lilith, who was scratching her cheek.

Yeah, what’s wrong with the girl?

Oscar knows what he means to Lilith, and what Lilith thinks of him.

What kind of kid worries, “What if people look at us weird?” just because they walk into a lodging place arm-in-arm with their parents?

So the daughter is not at fault!

The culprit is that damn James Brown!

“L, let’s go together, Master!”

Oscar stomped off toward the room, his footsteps loud and heavy.

And then the door swung open.

“Hey!!!”

“Oh, you’re here?”

“Do you ever actually think—AARGHHHH!!!”

Oscar caught sight of Enoch rushing up to the door for just a second—then immediately covered his eyes and ducked his head.

My eyes! My eyes!

My eyes, my eyes are about to bleed!

What did I just see?

Was that really a fluffy, woolly pajama set—white with little red hearts embroidered all over it?

And just how huge was he? The sleeves and pants were all too short, making him look completely ridiculous… Was he really seeing this right?

“Wow! Dad! What are these pajamas? They’re so cute! Oh my!”

“Right?! It’s super cute, isn’t it? We’ve got one for our princess too!”

Damn, it must be true.

Oscar gave up and raised his head.

He’d hoped—prayed—that he was seeing things. But no, Enoch’s ridiculously cutesy pajamas were all too real.

“Wow. Seriously, seriously, you’re the ugliest thing in the world….”

Enoch, who had been happily watching his daughter writhing in the same pajamas, soon smirked at Oscar.

“Stop.”

Oscar instinctively sensed something ominous in that sinister smile.

He tried to stop Enoch, who was turning around.

“I told you to stop.”

He quickly brought out the same pajamas and held them out in front of me.

“Aaaack! No! I don’t want to!”
