My Daddy Hides His Power Chapter 313 - Side story Part 2 Chapter 9

“Th, there’s… a possibility, right?”

Cheshire also became anxious at the frightened expression on Lilith’s face.

“That’s impossible. You said it only took a month. How could a single month of lifespan create a whole new life?”

“Because right now, it probably isn’t even a full life yet. Maybe… it’s just a fertilized egg or something like that?”

That makes sense!

“Besides, the reason I ended up making that wish was because… well, the process of having a baby turned out to be harder than I thought, right?”

Lilith’s eyes once again subtly drifted downward to Cheshire’s lower half. Flustered, Cheshire quickly pulled the blanket over himself and asked,

“So one month of life is the price for skipping that process?”

“Couldn’t that be possible?”

“So you’re saying I didn’t do anything and my child was born?”

“….”

When Cheshire said that, Lilith felt bewildered again.

It’s not like they’re a hermaphrodite—there’s no way a baby could be conceived with only the mother’s genes.

“That’s right. I guess not.”

“It might sound ridiculous, but Lilith. You never know.”

Cheshire gently pulled Lilith into his arms.

“First, let’s consider all possibilities. If we assume the wish was granted, we don’t know in what form you’ll end up seeing ‘a baby boy who looks like you.’”

“Right.”

After tidying up the bed, Cheshire gently laid Lilith down as if handling delicate glasswork.

“Can you check with the doctor tomorrow?”

“If it just happened, wouldn’t it be too early to tell? We’ll probably need to wait a bit longer. Let’s check once we’re back home.”

“Ah, yeah.”

Cheshire was noticeably flustered. Seeing this uncharacteristic side of him, Lilith chuckled softly.

“Why are you laughing?”

“Your expression is funny. Are you worried you might become a dad when you’re not even ready yet?”

“What’s there to worry about? It’ll just happen.”

“Pfft.”

“Isn’t there anything you want to eat?”

“Huh!”

“Why?”

“Surprisingly, I want to eat strawberry cake right now! Am I really pregnant?”

“Let’s eat.”

Cheshire stood up immediately to get the strawberry cake.

* * *

Lilith’s wish of ‘I want to see a baby boy who looks just like me.’

—was definitely accepted and the baby actually became a baby.

However, it wasn’t in Lilith’s stomach.

While his daughter, believing herself to be pregnant, was being waited on hand and foot by her husband in a beautiful honeymoon destination.

“Ubya. (I’m hungry, Father.)”

Dad, even Enoch was being waited on hand and foot without lifting a finger.

At home, in his father’s bedroom, on the baby crib that had been hastily brought in—he had already spent four days doing nothing but eating, sleeping, and pooping all day.

“You’re still the same—always asking for food at all hours.”

Nordic approached Enoch, shaking the bottle with his usual skill, and picked him up.

“Did I really do that?”

Tsk, Nordic laughed as he bit the bottle.

“You’re just not crying now. Back then, every time you cried, I thought the whole house was going to collapse.”

Jjub, Jjub, Jjub.

“Ordia had a quiet voice and was calm, but you were nothing like that. You cried so loudly that I couldn’t sleep. You always cried the loudest when you were hungry.”

Jjub, Jjub, Jjub.

Enoch sucked on his bottle, quietly staring up at his father’s face, lost in reminiscence.

When he had first become a baby, it had felt overwhelming—but now, there was nothing particularly uncomfortable about it.

It was all thanks to Nordic. Enoch hadn’t known, but his father was a seasoned veteran at parenting. He had personally fed his children with bottles and knew how to change diapers, too.

‘Seriously, I never could’ve imagined this.’

Enoch didn’t remember when he was a baby and Nordic had never said it himself, so he didn’t know.

Enoch, despite being a nobleman, had lived in hiding in the mountains, posing as a commoner—so of course he had raised Lilith himself.

‘I didn’t know that my father would do that.’

Who is Nordic Rubinstein?

He was the head of a great noble family and was called the noble above nobles.

But the fact that he didn’t entrust childcare entirely to his servants, unlike most nobles, was a refreshing surprise.

Pull!

Enoch spat out the bottle’s nipple and tried to speak, struggling with the pronunciation.

“Fadder, you mus’ta had so much twouble waising me.”

“….”

Nordic, momentarily at a loss for words at the discordant sight of a newborn baby speaking politely, let out a slight chuckle.

“Still, didn’t you grow up quite well? You even brought honor to the family.”

“But to you, Fadder, I was a worthless child. I’m sowwy for causing you pain by wunning away fwom home.”

“….”

“Fwom now on, as long as I wive, I’ll do my dooty as your child. I’ll make sure to we-pay the kindness you showed in waizing me.”

“You fool, did you raise Lilith expecting something in return?”

Enoch paused.

“…No.”

“I’m no different. I was overjoyed when you were born, and I was happy just to see you grow up healthy without any illness. That alone means you’ve fulfilled your duty as a child, so you don’t need to feel like you owe me anything.”

The baby’s big eyes blinked.

It was only natural, and yet somehow surprising, that the feelings Enoch had for his own child, Lilith, were the very same ones Nordic felt for his son, Enoch.

“…Having a baby isn’t such a bad thing after all.”

That’s really true. Father had always been so strict, he never had the chance to share a warm conversation like this with him before.

It was nice—he’d come to know a side of his father he’d never seen, from when he was just a baby and too young to remember, and he was finally able to say things he’d always been too embarrassed to express.

“It’s almost a shame that I only have thwee days weft to be held in Fadder’s arms.”

“Maybe you feel that way, but for me, raising a fully grown son all over again is exhausting and tough. Hurry up and come back.”

Nordic laughed heartily, put down the bottle, and held Enoch up.

A familiar time to both Enoch and Nordic—experienced veterans of parenting.

The baby closed his eyes, securely held in his father’s arms.

Pat pat.

A gentle hand gently stroking the back.

Soon, the baby burped.

“Keuk.”

* * *

Three days later.

The docks of the port city of Bethel.

A cool sea breeze blew as the warm spring sunlight poured down. It was the kind of weather that made everyone feel happy.

“Do humans do nothing but go on trips? It’s packed—absolutely packed.”

Except for the Lord of the Wizard Tower, who was full of complaints about everything.

Oscar, wearing the second pair of sunglasses gifted to him by his beloved student, had claimed a seat on one side of the waiting area.

The day Lilith returned from her ten-day honeymoon.

At the same time, it had already been a full week since Enoch turned into a baby.

“Ha, damn it. What the hell did I do in my past life to deserve this…?”

Axion had visited the ducal estate early in the morning to pick up Enoch, and was now waiting at Oscar’s house.

And Oscar planned to snatch Lilith as soon as she returned from her honeymoon and take her straight to Enoch.

Of course, before that, he fully intended to give Lilith a sharp flick to the forehead as payback.

‘This girl, I was so curious about what she did that I couldn’t sleep for a whole week!’

During that time, Oscar had been wondering what wish Lilith had made that caused Enoch to turn into a baby.

The daughter, moved to tears as she remembered her father’s wrinkled face, wished, “I want to see my dad healthy and strong again.”

Or she wished, “Please let Dad stay by my side forever, looking young.”

‘Ssshh. No, no.’

Enoch wasn’t old yet.

Even though he looked young enough to pass for someone in his early twenties, was Lilith really the type to get all sentimental like that?

‘So then, what exactly did she wish for…? Ah, here we go.’

Just then, the very culprit who could finally solve this nagging mystery arrived.

It was easy to find the two handsome men and beauties among the disembarking passengers.

“Oh! Master?”

Lilith spotted Oscar right away and waved happily. Oscar approached, ready to give her a playful flick on the forehead.

“Lilith, don’t run. Be careful.”

“That’s right!”

Oscar stopped as he was getting closer.

For some reason, Lilith was walking cautiously with her hands on her waist.

Cheshire, who had carried all the luggage by himself, was supporting Lilith from the side.

“What? Are you hurt somewhere?”

“No! That’s not it.”

When Oscar worried, Lilith smiled and came closer. Then she waved her hand, asking for her ear.

“What is it?”

When he lowered his head, Lilith whispered in his ear.

“Master, I might be pregnant.”

“….”

Oscar closed his eyes tightly.

Even without further explanation, he thinks he knows what this fool wished for!
