The Beast Tamed by the Villainess Chapter 4
I’ve seen quills in movies often, but this is my first time using one.
But unlike the ones used in modern times, it doesn’t have a metal nib, so it looks too fragile.
‘Anyway, now I have a pen……’
Ah! Ink bottle. Where’s the ink bottle?
The loud beating of my heart filled my ears.
The more nervous I was, the more impatient I got.
I frantically opened the desk drawers, it scratched and rattled as I roughly closed it to open another.
Fortunately, I found a black ink bottle in the bottom compartment. I removed the cork and immediately put the tip of the pen in.
“Like this…”
For someone who’s only ever used factory-made ballpens her whole life, the touch of a quill pen is very new to me.
I’ve only seen it in movies, so I don’t know how to use it properly. For now, I had to put in as much effort as I could to hold it in my hand.
- Magnus escaped when he was twenty-three years old, met the heroine, and lived with her for half a year. Then, around spring at the age of twenty-four, he returned to the Imperial Palace and assassinated his two older brothers…
This is where the question arises.
Why did Magnus kill them? He finally found his family.
It wasn’t described in detail by the author, so the reason was unknown.
Because of that, there were a lot of comments saying Magnus had gone insane because of his imprisonment.
And, of course, I’m also curious if he really did kill his brothers for no reason.
Needless to say, only the author and the future Magnus knows the truth.
- The emperor, who was in critical condition, believed that he had lost his two sons in an accident. With that, he then passed the throne to Magnus.
I’ve gotten used to handling the quill after using it for a while.
I wrote down the third event right below the second, putting a lot of thought into it.
- After becoming emperor, Magnus immediately began looking for the person who kidnapped him, as well as summoning the heroine who saved his life.
- He held banquets once a month and ordered women who were eligible to marry, ages 17-26, to attend.
- Two years after being crowned emperor, at the age of twenty-five, Magnus found Illyana Glaine in the winter.
- In the spring at the age of twenty-six, he made the Glaine family disappear in history.
- Then, when summer came, the imprisoned Illyana was exiled into a shanty somewhere.
- After that, Illyana Glaine no longer appeared in the story. Magnus married the heroine and they lived happily ever after.
This is the story of Illyana Glaine and Magnus D’Cloude. In short…
I’m gonna die in four years.
I mean, I won’t literally die, but I’ll live a life not too different from death.
It wasn’t described where she was sent or how she lived.
And so, unless I get out of this body, all the crimes Illyana Glaine will commit would also be my own.
“This is what’s going to happen.”
I still have a chance, then. I have two years left until he escapes.
After I get rid of the brainwashing and his drug addiction, I have to somehow return him to the Imperial Palace within that time.
And then…
‘What should I do for him to trust me?’
I need to think of something that wouldn’t get people involved but wouldn’t also seem too strange even if things suddenly change at the same time.
Then I remembered a scene from a drama I watched before, it was when the friend was kicked out by their boss and complained to the main character. Every line was a total banger, it made me laugh my head off.
‘Ugh, the world is so annoying. My boss is literally a dog. I should just go join a church or something.’
‘…You believe in God?’
‘Oh, this is a tiny bit different from that.’
“Believe in God…” That’s not a totally bad idea. People should be in the middle to see everything that’s happening after all. Just one problem, there won’t be a God or church here…
‘Then, in this situation, I should become a nun.’
I nodded my head.
“Let’s repent.”
In the novel, Illyana Glaine was very greedy in front of Magnus. She didn’t hide her desires or even care about others’ suffering.
However, her image in society was the total opposite. To them, Illyana Glaine was a good and kind lady.
She was someone who knew how to manipulate people with words rather than doing so directly.
For instance, if ever there was an issue, she’d cleverly say, ‘I think I’ve heard that somewhere…’
She was a very powerful influence in society, a sneaky sociopath that blends in with the mask of an immaculate reputation.
She was indifferent to others’ pain and rather found it enjoyable.
Not to mention, she’s incredibly smart. That makes me wonder what she’d do in this kind of situation…
As the only daughter of a marquess, she seemed perfect.
People would praise her, saying that everything she did exhibit dignity.
That’s why…
I’ll become a devout believer. Even if I can’t be a nun, anyone could be a believer as long as they have faith.
“I need to learn how to detoxify drugs and how to get rid of brainwashing.”
I don’t think I’ll ever see the same ending. I don’t have the confidence to do it like the Illyana Glaine in the novel.
Besides, I won’t even know what the ending would be if I’d be trapped in a cabin.
‘…A cabin for life.’
Of course, the goal is to return to my world, but I should always be prepared.
Just the thought of being locked up for the rest of my life sends shivers down my spine.
Knock, knock.
I heard someone knocking on the door. I folded the used paper in half and put it in the drawer with the ink bottle. I got up from my seat and sat on the bed.
“Come in.”
I don’t think it’s good to forcefully raise your voice.
Maybe that’s the reason why my throat keeps on hurting.
“Have you awoken, Miss Illyana?”
“Yes. What brings you here?”
I tried to speak naturally. Giving orders isn’t really what I’m used to, I’ve always been under others in my life.
“Today is Marquess Daisy’s tea party. Even if we begin preparing right away, we might still not have enough time.”
“Ah, please cancel that.”
“Pardon?”
“I’m asking you to cancel all plans for the next week.”
The maid quickly bowed down without showing any surprise at my words.
The sight somehow made my mouth water. Perhaps Illyana Glaine was not a very good owner to them as well.
“What shall the reason be?”
“Tell them I’m not feeling well.”
“Understood.”
My back stiffened, seeing her being so polite and careful with every word.
“Would you prefer to eat in your room or the dining room?”
“Bring it here.”
“Understood.”
The maid answered with restraint. As I watched her tidy up the messy bedding, I was once again lost in thought.
According to the novel, there’s a huge temple in the capital. I should go there to register as a believer and then every week — no, I’ll show my faith by praying there every morning.
“I’m going out.”
The maid bowed deeply as if she had finished her work.
“Oh, wait!”
“Yes, my lady?”
“I want you to secretly find someone discreet and adept in drugs then bring them to me.”
Illyana Glaine’s tone gave me goosebumps, I’d only imagined what it sounds like when I read the novel. It doesn’t suit me at all.
Having lived in the twenty-first century, I couldn’t be even half as well-spoken and well-educated as old aristocrats sound.
“I shall look into it.”
“As soon as possible.”
“Understood. We will be bringing your meal shortly. If you have any plans after, we will help you prepare.”
Being treated with respect by a maid who looked twenty years older than me actually made me uncomfortable.
“Alright.”
I didn’t show it because I couldn’t, although I know I have to adjust to this kind of life little by little.
Being a ‘devout believer’ would be very useful. It’s an excellent way to live a frugal life and get away from society.
‘God, forgive me.’
When I get back to the real world, I will warmly accept my punishment…
After a short prayer in my heart, I left myself to the hands of the approaching maid.
I don’t really like other people fumbling over my body, though.
“Would you like to bathe while the meal is being prepared?”
“Sure.”
As I followed the maid into the bathroom, another one entered.
One filled the bathtub with water while the other helped me take off my sleepwear.
Although this body isn’t mine and I’m clearly new to this kind of situation, it was clear that Illyana Glaine’s body remembered everything.
When a maid touches her, her arms naturally rise, and it doesn’t feel too embarrassing or uncomfortable despite someone else touching her body.
That’s even weirder because I originally hated physical contact.
‘This bathroom doesn’t have a mirror.’
Don’t people usually have a mirror in the bathroom even if they don’t have it elsewhere?
Thinking that it was strange, I tilted my head. The maids cast their eyes down to the floor.
“The water is ready. Please call us once you are finished.”
Don’t they usually help with the bath until it’s done?
Strangely, after only preparing, the two maids hurried out of the restroom.
I frowned at the weird feeling and lowered my head to put my feet in the bathtub.
“What’s this?”
There were speckled bruises all over my thighs, it seemed to have been there for quite some time now. I think it’s near to turning blue and fading.
There were also some old scratch marks. Only then did I start looking all over my body.
The same goes for the arms. I think now I’m beginning to understand why she always wears long sleeves even in the summer.
I never read anything about this in the novel.
