Honey, Why Can’t We Get a Divorce? Chapter 151 - Side story 4
There were many conversations, but the conclusion was the same.
Rivert would help prepare for the party.
Rivert asked Ophelia about the size of the party and the direction she wanted to go, and his eyes immediately lit up.
“Then you will be going out to prepare for the party?”
“I guess so. I think it would be good to bring in new furniture.”
Ophelia had already received permission from Sylvester to spend freely. She was planning to go shopping for the first time in a while, intending to replace all the old furniture.
“Then take me too!”
Rivert shouted with sparkling eyes.
“Shouldn’t we purchase items according to the budget? I’ll keep track of everything and do the calculations beside you. You won’t regret having me by your side!”
If she didn’t take him, he would lie down and throw a tantrum.
Ophelia stared at Rivert for a moment before slowly opening her mouth.
“Rivert.”
“Yes?”
“How long have you been working here?”
“Three months.”
“…Let’s go out together.”
She’ll have to say something to Neil when she gets back.
It’s abuse to lock up a child and make him work.
“That’s really great! Are we going right now? Right away?”
Ophelia blinked slowly, then asked, avoiding Rivert’s gaze.
“By the way, when was the last time you washed?”
“Hmm. I don’t remember!”
“Then I think you should wash first.”
Saying such things, Rivert was in a truly disheveled state. His hair was a mess, and his neck was dark and grimy… somehow, he seemed even dirtier than when he was on the street.
“First, let’s go back to the mansion. After that, take a bath and change your clothes before we head out.”
“…Are you trying to make excuses to keep me locked up in the mansion?”
“I’m not Neil.”
“Ah, yes! You’re so different from that gloomy, sinister, and unpleasant Neil, Madam! Then just a moment! I’ll pack my bags!”
“Yeah, yeah.”
Ophelia patted Rivert gently as she sent him off, and then she thought again. She decided she needed to deal with Neil…
“The aide shouldn’t get married.”
Irene muttered.
“If he gets married and has children, it’s obvious how he’ll raise them.”
Agreed, Ophelia silently prayed that Neil would remain single for life.

After returning to the mansion, time flew by until Rivert came out after washing up.
“So, what will you do until Rivert arrives? Would you like to have tea time in the garden?”
During break time, it’s only right to rest.
“That’s a good idea.”
Ophelia, who was going out to the garden following Irene’s guidance, suddenly muttered.
“Now that I think about it, what is Jasmine doing?”
It seems like it’s been quite some time since she met Jasmine.
I’ve been so busy with various matters that I couldn’t pay much attention, but Jasmine must be in the same boat. Since the diamond was mined, there must be messages coming in from countless merchants
“I think she’s in the capital. Should we contact her?”
“Yes, Madam!”
Leaving Irene behind after pouring the tea, Ophelia sank into her chair and lifted her head.
The clear blue sky greeted her. She could see a pair of birds flying under the sky, and she could feel the wind flowing.
It was an incredibly peaceful scene.
It was enough to make all the crises she had experienced seem like a lie.
Ophelia slowly closed her eyes and enjoyed the peace of the moment.
It was then.
“If you were going to have tea time, you should have called me.”
She felt a hand hugging her shoulder from behind.
Ophelia slowly opened her closed eyes and smiled gently.
“I wanted to spend time with you too.”
Then, she reached out her hand toward Sylvester, who was making a somewhat sulky expression.
“Didn’t you say you were busy today?”
“But I still have time to have a cup of tea with you.”
Sylvester brought a chair from across the table and placed it right next to her, sitting so close that their shoulders touched. He wrapped his arm around Ophelia’s waist and rested his cheek on her shoulder.
The entire sequence felt so natural that Ophelia couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
“Why are you laughing?”
“It’s just that I’m amazed.”
Ophelia stroked the side of Sylvester’s hair, who was leaning against her cheek.
“It’s being so close to you like this. It’s me becoming the Duchess as if it were the most natural thing in the world. All of it.”
Sylvester, who had been quietly feeling Ophelia’s touch, answered.
“I’m amazed too.”
“Is it because you’ve fallen in love with me?”
“It’s surprising that I didn’t love you sooner.”
He turned his head away and rested his elbows on the table, cupping his chin in his hands. The gaze he directed at Ophelia was filled with nothing but affection.
“I should have realized I loved you the moment I noticed you had changed. But now, the time we’ve been in love feels too short.”
“It’s strange that you say such embarrassing things so casually.”
“So, you don’t like it?”
Sylvester tilted his head and stared at Ophelia.
His smooth black hair, like the night sky, and his blue eyes, sparkling like blue stars, are utterly enchanting. The features of his face are perfectly proportioned, resembling an elegant statue, and the subtle fragrance he exudes is captivating enough to mesmerize anyone.
He really was handsome. Ophelia was purely impressed.
“…Don’t attack with your face.”
“All I have to show for myself are my good looks and money, so I might as well appeal with those.”
How long will he keep saying that? Ophelia, who had been making a blank expression, suddenly tilted her head.
“But I don’t think I have anything to appeal with…”
At that, Sylvester frowned.
“Why not? Everything about you tempts me.”
“….”
It was a reply that came out as if he had been waiting for it. So, Ophelia found herself momentarily at a loss for words.
She stared at Sylvester again.
And she thought back to the first time she saw Sylvester.
His deep blue eyes, as cold as ice, were always indifferent. His expression, which showed no emotion, was like a cold wave rising from the deepest part of the sea. On top of that, he had a subtle sense of loneliness, so even when he smiled, it often gave off a cool sense of caution instead of warmth.
But not now.
His eyes were filled with warmth, like sunlight shining down on the frozen sea. His lips held a gentle smile, and his expression was incredibly affectionate.
So much can change. Ophelia smiled without realizing it as she examined Sylvester’s face.
“What? Why are you smiling so cutely all of a sudden?”
“Just. I like it.”
“Yeah. Me too.”
A gentle breeze lingered between the two, as if it had come solely for them. The air was light and refreshing, causing the slightly tousled strands of hair to sway in its flow.
“Honey.”
Ophelia, who had been feeling the peaceful time, slowly opened her mouth.
“Don’t you want to see your mother again?”
One side of Sylvester’s face slightly frowned. But Ophelia didn’t stop talking.
“It was too short. And we didn’t even have a proper conversation. I think it would be good to meet again…”
“No need.”
But Sylvester was extremely firm.
“My wish was to meet her just once again. Now that I’ve met her, it’s enough. It’s over.”
He slowly raised his eyes and looked at Ophelia. The affectionate gaze he had just given her was nowhere to be found.
“So let’s stop talking about this.”
“Still.”
“I told you I don’t need it.”
“No, why are you stopping me from speaking!”
Although Ophelia raised her voice slightly, Sylvester remained unchanged. He slowly stood up, his gaze softening once again.
“I don’t want to argue with you about this. So let’s stop talking. Hmm?”
Ophelia thought that Sylvester had really changed. If it were normal, he would have been sarcastic and picked a fight.
She wondered if he had changed because he became a father, but then she thought that he might have been reacting this way to avoid the topic.
So she couldn’t continue talking.
Ophelia also didn’t want to fight with Sylvester.
“Take care. I’ll be waiting.”
Before Ophelia could say anything, Sylvester got up and lightly kissed her cheek.
“…Okay.”
So Ophelia had no choice but to agree.
But…
Was this okay?
A corner of her heart felt heavy.
