BJ Villainess Chapter 301
* * *
“How about we name the game <Love Academy>?”
This place… is the studio?
“Senior doesn’t like games, do you?”
I looked around with dazed eyes. Senior Seonga, Jin Wonwoo, Bora, and I were all in the Pandora studio. We had gathered to decide on the game’s name. But hadn’t we already decided on the name?
“How about—”
Just as Bora was about to speak, I cut in, “<God’s Play>.”
Everyone’s eyes focused on me.
“The game’s name is <God’s Play>.”
Bora tilted her head in confusion. “Did I tell you that already?”
“Yeah.”
Without much thought, Senior Seonga cheerfully said, “<God’s Play> it is! Now, let’s go for dinner!”
With those words, I became certain that I had experienced this before. I didn’t know why, but I had regressed again.
Thump. Thump. My heart pounded unpleasantly fast. I felt like I was going to suffocate from fear as I spoke up,
“Sorry, I’m not feeling well, so I’ll skip today.”
“…”
“…”
“…”
The three of them fell silent, staring at me. Their reactions were like malfunctioning NPCs. Feeling a chill of unease, I quickly left the studio as if I were escaping. Then I received a text.
[♥Honey♥: Is the meeting over?]
The situation was strange. I should have immediately called him, my reliable ally, and explained everything, pleading for help because I didn’t know what was going on. But… I don’t want to. Everything about this world and Ozworld gave me a strong sense of unease.
Like a detective following a lead, I hailed a taxi and told the driver to take me to the campus. Someone there might have the answers I needed. The man with silver hair and blue eyes—I had a strange certainty that he knew something.
However, the taxi suddenly came to a stop in the middle of the road while we were on our way to campus. This was an eight-lane road. Given Seoul’s infamous traffic, the silence was eerie—no honking, no noise. The bustling city had fallen dead silent.
Feeling scared, I tried to get out of the car, but the doors wouldn’t open while it was still in motion. “I want to get out here. Could you unlock the door, please?”
“…”
The driver didn’t respond at all. I didn’t know exactly why, but something was seriously wrong.
Sensing danger, I reached over to the driver’s seat and pressed the button to unlock the backseat doors. As soon as the door opened, I bolted out of the car. It was a purely instinctive action, but it seemed to have saved my life.
Crackle! Crackle—! The world around me started to tear and shatter.
“What is going on?!” I gasped for breath as I ran, shouting at the collapsing world around me. “What the hell is happening?!”
Noise spread everywhere. The buildings, the ground, and even the sky warped as if they were cracked screens. But that wasn’t the end of the bizarre phenomena.
I looked around frantically as I ran, then screamed and came to a halt. Right in front of me, space-time was ripping apart, revealing a pitch-black void. My instincts told me that getting sucked into it would mean certain death, so I stopped just in time to save my life. But I couldn’t avoid the noise-ridden sinkhole forming beneath my feet.
“Careful.”
I thought I was going to die. But someone wrapped their arms around my waist and saved me.
Floating in midair, I turned my head to see who had rescued me. It was an angel. Not in the metaphorical sense—this person had actual wings. Except the wings were jet black. The angel had long, dark red hair, beautiful emerald green eyes, and was extremely tall. I recognized these characteristics.
“Ilya…?”
This angel looked exactly like Ilya, the archdemon and fallen angel, one of the male leads in the game I had created.
“You recognized me right away.”
Is he real?
Ilya smiled as if pleased and lifted me into his arms, carrying me somewhere.
Is this all just a dream? Because it can’t be real. Something this crazy could only happen in a dream.
But the surprises weren’t over yet.
Is that man fighting those people coming out of what looks like a portal… Damian?
The navy-blue hair, golden eyes, and all-black combat gear looked exactly like Damian, the assassin from the game…
I was briefly stunned, then asked Ilya, “Where are we going?”
“The dungeon gate opened because you rejected Ozworld’s proposal. We’re heading there.”
“I rejected his proposal?”
But I didn’t remember being proposed to or rejecting one.
If it’s true, there should be a change in the dungeon quest. I pulled out my phone to check the quest, and sure enough, there was a change.
[Dungeon Quest: Zero Base Seoul completed!]
▸Accept: Live as ‘Jiwoo’
▸Refuse: Live as ‘Theresa’ (selected)
“Theresa?”
Isn’t that the name of the villainess in <God’s Play> who looks like me? And now, Ilya and Damian have appeared in real life.
“What on earth is happening…?”
Just then, a flash of light burst from across the way, followed by a cloud of dust from an explosion. I raised my arm to shield myself from the dust while squinting through the smoke to see two men facing off. They looked familiar. And sure enough, I knew them both. It was Ozworld and the man with silver hair and blue eyes who wore a mask. Suddenly, it all clicked.
“Clyde.”
That man must be Clyde.
Boom! At that moment, two figures with green hair, whose identities I couldn’t discern, launched an attack on Ilya. The deafening sound made me squeeze my eyes shut as I was flung from Ilya’s arms. I braced myself for serious injury, but before I could hit the ground, something caught me and gently set me down. What was strange was that there were two forces supporting me.
“Are you okay?”
“Are you okay?”
Two men grabbed me at the same time—Ozworld and Clyde. It created an incredibly tense standoff with me caught in the middle.
All around us, the noise of explosions continued to echo. It was because the three male leads from <God’s Play> were fighting against alien beings. And Ozworld appeared to be the leader of those alien beings. The fact that my boyfriend was an alien… I had suspected as much, but it was still shocking.
I confronted him, “Why did you do this?”
“…Jiwoo, just come here. It’s dangerous here.”
“That’s exactly why I’m asking—why did you create such a dangerous place?!”
Ozworld couldn’t answer. Instead, Clyde spoke up.
“To experiment.”
“Expe…riment?”
“To break free from the inherent limitations of being a villain in someone else’s creation and become whole.”
I stared at Ozworld, dazed, as if asking him if it was true. Ozworld looked annoyed as if he’d heard something ridiculous.
“That’s the delusional claim of the Victim’s Alliance.”
“You created the romance show to escape the limitation of not being able to love anyone, which is part of your character, right?” Clyde coldly mocked him. “But the real twist was that you actually fell in love.”
Suddenly, a splitting headache struck me, bringing forth an unfamiliar memory.
[“We don’t want to see more victims like us. That’s why we’ve been preparing for a long time to banish Ozworld from Pantheon. Then, we found a possibility in you.”]
“What possibility?”
[“You have the potential to be Ozworld’s weakness.”]
“Don’t you think you have too strong a prejudice against me, Miss Theresa?”
“Let’s meet again in Seoul.”
“Jiwoo.”
“Let go of me—!”
Suddenly, hundreds of black butterflies emerged from my shadow and surrounded me. I raised my head and looked at the two men who had been pushed far away. More specifically, I looked at Ozworld.
“You lied to me…?”
“I never lied.”
“I know when you’re lying.”
Tears streamed down my face. A wave of hatred surged within me, a murderous intent that didn’t feel like my own. I wanted to kill him. No, I loved him. It was disgusting and horrifying. But I didn’t want to lose him.
“This isn’t Earth. It’s a dungeon you created, and you locked away my memories. You’re not even Ozworld Holton!”
Ozworld couldn’t hold back his anger any longer and exploded.
“How many times do I have to tell you that this is just a backdrop before you understand?!”
Didn’t he realize that made me feel even sadder and more pathetic?
“When did you ever say that…?” I muttered, my face wet with tears, “Did you say it during the time you erased?”
“Just… come here, please.” Ozworld pleaded with me, trying to be patient, “It’s dangerous here, so let’s talk somewhere else.”
“Come to me.” Just then, Clyde intervened, reaching out his hand to me. “My Psyche.”
As soon as Clyde spoke, I felt a tingling sensation on my palm.
I was confused. My memories were scattered like shards; nothing was clear. Then, my gaze fell on the noise-filled pit nearby. If I touch that…
I placed my hand on the noise pit. My body began to fragment as if data was scattering. It all happened in an instant. In a moment so brief it couldn’t even be called time, an enormous amount of information flowed into me. Unfortunately, it wasn’t about ‘Theresa,’ but I did gain something.
I regained all the memories of the countless times Ozworld had reset time. I remembered all his deceptions. When he shamelessly asked me for the answer; when he gradually changed; when he eventually came to understand me after turning back time so many times; when we became lovers and lived together multiple times; when I told him that I loved him; when we dreamed of a future together and exchanged rings.
Surprisingly, it was love. Even though I had never doubted his feelings, I realized anew just how much he loved me. And so I came to know his weakness.
Crackle—!
“Jiwoo!”
“Theresa!”
The two men grabbed for me, but they were too late. The noise had already enveloped my entire body.
I disappeared along with the dungeon.
