Ding!
I woke up to the cheerful sound of a notification.
“Huaaah—”
Birds chirped merrily outside.
After savoring the softness of the blanket against my skin, I threw it off and got out of bed.
I stretched, then headed straight for the window as soon as I stepped away from the bed and opened it wide.
“Good morning!”
The refreshing morning air slipped down the back of my neck and into my pajamas, waking me up in an instant.
I quickly threw on a light cardigan and washed my face with lukewarm water.
After patting my face dry with a soft towel, I tied my hair up with a cute scrunchie and headed to the kitchen.
Then I checked on the yogurt I had left to ferment since yesterday.
I sniffed it a few times, and, satisfied with the result, took out a clear glass.
I poured in enough thickened yogurt to fill more than half the glass, then scooped up a generous spoonful of fruit jam and placed it on top.
Using the wooden spoon I had taken out the jam with, I started cleaning while eating the yogurt one spoonful at a time.
After opening all the windows, I swept the dust off the floor with a broom and used a duster to clean even the corners.
And another spoonful of yogurt.
The combination of tangy yogurt and sweet fruit jam whetted my appetite.
Once I had finished my quick morning cleaning, I immediately washed the empty glass and put it away.
“Now, time to harvest the rest of the corn!”
It also happened to be the day the corn merchant was visiting, so I had to finish my work quickly and go see him.
I walked cheerfully down the path until I came across Priam, who was picking fruit from a ladder.
“Miel!”
Priam climbed down the ladder with a delighted expression. While we chatted for a bit, I took the opportunity to show off the scythe I had upgraded recently.
“Ta-da!”
God-Blessed Far-Reaching Mass Harvest Scythe (+15): A miraculous scythe that cuts through any crop as effortlessly as cotton candy.
“Wooooow.”
Priam’s eyes widened.
“That’s amazing, Miel. You actually got something like this!”
I shrugged proudly at his repeated exclamations and declared enthusiastically,
“If you ever need it, just let me know, Priam. You can borrow it anytime!”
I had plenty of work to do, so I promised to visit him next time to exchange diaries before heading back to my vegetable patch.
Along the way, I ran into the baker whose sleeve I had mended a few days earlier.
“Miel!”
“Oh!”
When I waved in greeting, she smiled brightly at me.
“Come by the bakery sometime! I made that sweet bread with garlic you said you wanted to try!”
At the long-awaited news, I nearly jumped for joy.
“Really?! I’ll definitely stop by later!”
Energized by the good news, I used my upgraded scythe to harvest the rest of the corn without hesitation.
My enthusiasm got the better of me, though, and I ended up getting a small cut.
“Ow, that hurts.”
I was planning to head home for treatment before visiting the merchant when I happened to run into Siad, who was making his rounds.
The moment he saw my bloodied arm, his expression hardened.
“Are you injured?”
“I made a little mistake while harvesting and cut myself…”
“I’ll treat you.”
He unwrapped the bandage and cast a healing skill. In an instant, the wound on my arm disappeared without a trace.
“Please be careful. You get hurt so often that I feel like my own life span is getting shorter.”
“I’m sorry. Oh! As for the medical fee, I’ll pay you now—”
“It’s fine. More importantly, take these potions in case I’m not around.”
Rare-grade potions spilled out of his arms in a heap.
He was giving me potions this expensive without charging me a single coin.
I insisted that I couldn’t possibly accept them for free, and we argued back and forth for a while. Naturally, Siad emerged victorious.
I just can’t win against that disappointed look on Siad’s face.
Still, I was glad I could head straight to the corn merchant without wasting any more time.
With my heart pounding in excitement, I wandered around the village until I spotted the merchant at one corner of the square, munching on his third ear of corn.
Corn: 3,324
“Hello! I’d like to exchange 3,000 ears of corn for a fountain.”
The merchant rummaged around inside his cart and pulled something out.
“Here you are. Place this chip wherever you’d like, then press the button, and a fountain will be installed there.”
Fountain Installation Permit
“Cawww! Thank you!”
I let out a crow-like shriek, eagerly accepted the chip, and dashed home.
I had already decided exactly where I wanted to install it.
Without a moment’s hesitation, I headed into the yard.
“Wow, I’m so nervous.”
I placed the chip in the exact spot and pressed the button firmly.
A soft, fluffy cloud of smoke soon rose into the air, followed by a loud poof.
And there it was—a fountain sparkling brilliantly in its place.
It was so dazzling that it practically took my breath away.
I couldn’t contain my excitement.
“It’s sooo pretty! It’s really beautiful. I should buy some flowers and float them on the water!”
I bounced around in delight until I spotted Kais passing nearby and dragged him over.
“Why?”
Instead of answering, I proudly showed him the newly installed fountain in the corner of my yard.
When I mentioned that I wanted to float flowers on the water later, Kais offered to send me some himself.
He said it was to commemorate all the hard work I’d done.
Ah, today is such a happy day.
I gazed at the fountain for a long time, basking in my satisfaction. Eventually, I started getting hungry, so I made lunch.
Before long, just as Kais had promised, a flower delivery arrived. There were enough bouquets to cover the fence in front of my house.
I was marveling at the sheer quantity of flowers—enough to open my own flower shop—when another pair of welcome visitors arrived in quick succession, accompanied by the sound of horse hooves.
“Oh my goodness!”
Two adorable faces, as lovely as dolls, suddenly peeked out from behind the bouquets in my arms.
“Kids! Did you come to visit?”
“Yep. Let’s play, Miel.”
I had a fountain now, and the twins had even come to visit me on their own initiative. What more could I ask for?
Feeling overjoyed, I prepared a generous lunch and decided to have a picnic while admiring the flower-filled fountain.
The sandwiches I’d prepared in a fairly generous quantity disappeared into the twins’ mouths in no time.
They still looked as though they wanted more, so I offered them the apples I’d carved into rabbit shapes beforehand.
The twins seemed a little reluctant at first, but they eventually gave in to my expectant gaze and each picked up an apple.
Then Yuun held out a piece of apple to me.
“Miel, too.”
“Okay!”
I opened my mouth and happily accepted the apple. A faint look of satisfaction crossed Yuun’s face.
Yuun’s Affection +10
Eunyu’s Affection +10
All I’d done was accept a piece of apple, yet both twins’ affection levels had increased at the same time.
How adorable.
