Chapter 24

In fact, I wasn’t worried about the fact that Gabriel and Daphne seem to have a deep relationship.

Cesare was obviously jealous of Gabriel. Not Daphne.

“Then what are you talking about all of a sudden? Did the Duchess say that?”

“… She said she thought so.”

“This is all your own initiative, Your Excellency!”

Joseph raised his voice.

“So it seems like this is still a problem. You shouldn’t have brought that slave with you in the first place…. Then the Duchess didn’t have an affair with the slave….”

“Yes. She misunderstood me.”

“Oh my gosh.”

Joseph shook his head.

“This is why the proportions have to be right! One person! Isn’t this the problem caused by having one more person between the couple?”

Cesare put on a look of guilt for some reason. In the future, it seems that he should have an attitude of listening to other people’s words.

Joseph is right. It’s already happened…

Since when did he even take an interest in slaves?

If you just take him to a nearby doctor and pay it with money, there is no need to feel guilty and you are fully responsible as a lord. It’s just a little bit of ignorance that has created this situation.

Cesare let out a long sigh.

“Haah… I’m glad it’s been resolved though. But, I don’t know that the Duchess would have thought that way… I know this is a really rude question, but…  Did you have any problems at night?”

Joseph’s eyes looked down. There was the sound of a warping of the desk Cesare was resting on.

“Sir Joseph? You pay attention to things that are really useless.”

“Hey, I’m always worried about you two.”

“It’s useless to worry. Because I am healthy enough.”

“Haha. Actually, it was weird at first. Suddenly, the Duke said that he would take the slave…. Didn’t you listen to the disapproval of me and other knights? I didn’t think you cared about the slave, but that part was strange.”

“Actually, I think it’s weird. At that moment, it felt like it had to be. Anyway, I’ll have to be careful so this doesn’t happen again.”

Joseph nodded and stepped back and sat down in his seat. Cesare leaned against the chair.

Fortunately it ended well.

However, the conclusion was clear. Gabriel left and Daphne stayed with Cesare. Now the future was a problem.

‘Do you like me?’

Cesare’s ears reddened when he remembered his wife who had asked so boldly. Cesare coughed for nothing and  straightened his posture.

Anyway, I thought it would be better to focus on Daphne to not cause such a misunderstanding. We also have to date often.

*****

It was clear that Gabriel had left with nothing. The things I had done remained in the room.

“Are you going to clean it up yourself?”

Shannet asked with a worried face.

“Yes. Keep what’s here in the box. I might come back.”

“Do you want to come back?”

“Um, no. I want to forget here forever and live well.”

This was sincere.

In fact, the hunting ground, this place, or Gabriel couldn’t have had a good memory. There were some who were tormenting Gabriel…

When he and Cesare had a romantic relationship, that wouldn’t have mattered. However, the relationship between Cesare and Gabriel was broken. Because Cesare fell in love with me.

If so, how would Gabriel remember this place? He was more likely to think of it as a disgraceful place without a single good memory.

If Gabriel regained his position and returned to his original position, that would certainly be bad for Burstoad.

So it’s better not to come back.

But I had to think later. It was to keep things that might have had good memories, just in case you didn’t know.

So, I deliberately decided to organize it myself.

If Gabriel came here with a full rage gauge, I thought I’d bring these up and remind him that there were good memories too.

“Ah, did you say that the place where Gabriel was in the end dungeon?”

“Yes, madam.”

“Can I visit? I want to take a look.”

It seemed that Gabriel’s anger could be measured by looking at where he had been.

Shannet took me down to the basement. And when I saw the dungeon, I was a little startled.

Oh my gosh. Is this where people live? No, because it’s a prison, it’s not a decent place to live, but…

I knew it wouldn’t be such a good environment, but I don’t know it would be this much.

I stared blankly at the prison and thought.

Just… Wouldn’t it be better for me to run away before I get caught up in it?

I mean, I spent my last days in a place like that and ran away…

“Madam!”

Shannet supported me as I stumbled. It seemed that I had no choice but to hope that Gabriel would completely forget this place and immerse himself in a new life.

Ugh, Cesare… No matter how jealous you were, you were too harsh. There will also be malice that didn’t exist.

Shannet thought resolutely as she followed Daphne up the dungeon.

‘This is a secret.’

Everything that Daphne stole Gabriel’s belongings and that she had been to the dungeon seemed to be kept as a secret between Daphne and Shannet.

The relationship was only now resolved. It seemed like the plate would be distorted if Gabriel’s traces intervened in the plate where the two of us were supposed to get along with good feelings like this.

Shannet turned to the maids. All of them were Daphne’s attendants.

“I have something to watch out for.”

“Tell me, Shannet.”

“Originally, the owner’s work is not supposed to be said. I’m sure everyone’s paying attention to that, right?”

“Yes, Shannet.”

“Just a while ago Madam…”

“Uh, where have you been? I thought you were in the office the whole time.”

The quick-witted maid caught Shannet’s words and said. The other maids understood what Shannet meant.

So, what Daphne and Gabriel did, they have kept their mouths shut. So as not to get into Cesare’s ear and cause a breakdown between the couple!

“From now on, the name Gabriel will be banned, pass it on to others. Don’t ever bring that name out of your mouth and cause a strife.”

“Yes! Shannet!”

The maids answered bravely.

Originally, a good maid must act wisely for the happiness of their owners. In that sense, today’s Shannet scored 120 out of 100.

“Madam, where are you going now?”

“I should go to the office. I was originally in the office at this time.”

“Ah…”

Shannet nodded her head with a curious expression.

After taking Daphne to the office, Shannet quickly turned and headed for Cesare’s office.

Of course, it is right for the servants to keep their mouth shut. However, there are some words that must be conveyed.

“Your Excellency!”

At Shannet’s visit, Cesare half stood up. What’s wrong with a decent person running like that?

“What’s going on?”

“Madam has entered the office now!”

Cesare’s face turned white at those words.

“Why…?”

Cesare looked back at what she had said. No matter how much I thought about it, I had no memory of forcing Daphne to work. Besides, didn’t he reflect on the fact that he had given too much work to Daphne the other day?

This may break the relationship with Daphne, who has barely recovered.

Cesare quickly left the office.

‘…Daphne!’

*****

The bedroom, parlor, and office had not changed. Rather, it was a well-maintained tea. It was shining like new.

It’s been a while since I sat down on an office chair.

Wouldn’t it be nice to start over again as a Duchess?

I pulled out the paperwork that was lying next to me.

“Ah, this….”

It was a festival document. Cesare handed everything to me, but things like that happened in the middle… How is this going?

The festival was already a week away. There was no way the capable Cesare would have left it alone.

After all, I don’t know what happened to the butler.

Can I continue to do this?

Ha, I liked the time when I was still on vacation.

“Is that right, Cherry?”

“Bark!”

Cherry, who was rolling a ball of yarn while waving her tail next to me, raised her little face and looked at me.

Ha, you’re the welfare. The welfare of the world was for cherry.

“My sweet baby! is it fun?”

Without realizing it, I slid down the chair like a slime and sat down next to the cherry. While we were playing, tickling Cherry’s stomach, someone came to see us.

Knock—

“Daphne, are you in?”

“Cesare?”

Cesare came in after hearing my voice. His hair and clothes were messy, probably because he was in a hurry.

Cesare found me sitting on the floor playing with Cherry.

Cesare took a deep breath and went inside.

“… What are you doing here?”

“Well… I’m interested in things I haven’t been able to finish before. I came to take a look, and cherry was so cute.”

“I don’t remember making you work.”

I narrowed my eyes and looked at Cesare. That tone is ‘I never told you to work, but who wants to do it? He would have said that I don’t like the way you work.’

Even Cesare was very wrong about the vacation I enjoyed. It’s a very narrow and uncomfortable place. You must be thinking that I must rest because I have lived in such a place.

Haah. That was a very wise interpretation, Daphne.

As expected, I’m smart.

  1. I’m so glad Daphne realized she was the one he liked and asked him straight up! ❤️

  2. This is probably the least frustrating novel I’ve read in a while. Usually the FL is way more concerned with the original story and never realizes that things have changed. But I love this FL, she’s just like “Oh everything changed, cool. I think I’ll just be happy here. Screw the OG plot, YAY!”

  3. The whole misunderstanding at the beginning was definitely worth it! As soon as it was resolved, her quick-wittedness is shining and she grasps the situation accurately interested of forming more ridiculous misunderstandings. This is a breath of fresh air.
