Novel Will Be Taken Down on 17 May or Earlier Chapter 78 - Dignity of the Chief (2)

Author: LyraDhani

…Let’s think again.

Was there something in the words I said?

“I understand your pain.”

It was just a common courtesy.

Yeah, I couldn’t believe that the Mage Tower’s leaders might have something to do with this incident.

Besides, I couldn’t help but keep such a huge thing to myself.

Every day was anguish, it must have been a series of stress.

It wasn’t for no reason that Marcelo was getting thinner.

“At last, I feel the weight of being the chief.”

As expected, not everyone could be a leader.

What I said next was also spoken in that meaning.

However.

“It’s been a while since I’ve been out.”

Marcelo was following me.

Mages of the Mage Tower who never moved.

Among them, Marcelo, the chief mage.

He’s accompanying me…!

Is this for real?

This was on a different level from the time with the Knights of Lionheart and the Shadow Mercenary Corps.

Unlike them, the mages of the Mage tower were beings who had little activity even back when Arcana was a game.

Even the emperor of the Empire was content to maintain a friendly relationship with the Mage Tower.

‘…Isn’t this the first time in history, not just the first time as a player?’

I didn’t get excited at that thought even if just for a second.

I noticed the seriousness of the situation.

‘Yes, there must be a reason why Marcelo made a move.’

In other words.

[Quest: The Truth of the Mage Tower]

There is a contradiction in the Mage Tower.

Uncover the contradiction.

Straighten up the Mage Tower and the truth.

– Secure Banglet Tom, who is entangled with the head of the Mage Tower. (In progress)

It meant that this quest was not easy.

Just looking at it, that seemed to be the case.

Because the quest goal was to secure Banglet Tom.

Who was Banglet Tom?

He was a senior mage of the Mage Tower.

Let’s say that Banglet came out in an uncooperative manner.

‘It will be absolutely impossible for me alone.’

Aside from my talent and knowledge related to magic.

My level was only 296.

Because of that, I had a poor amount of mana.

There was no way [Natural Enemy Relationship] would be triggered.

I would be crushed by Banglet due to the difference in mana.

As I grasped my situation like that, I recalled the past.

The image of me refusing Banglet at the door, citing about manners…!

If I added that offensive action, I couldn’t even feel wronged.

In that sense, this was fortunate.

Marcelo, there was no backup stronger than him.

“There are still audience members left.”

I came down to the lobby and saw the players.

They must have gotten surprised and whispered at each other.

I was sure.

Because I was surprised, too.

Of course, I couldn’t show it.

“Are you okay?”

I thought of other people’s views and evaluations as insignificant, so it didn’t matter to me.

It was different for Marcelo.

But I supposed there was no need for me to worry.

“The moment I came down here, I expected of this to happen.”

I supposed.

Marcelo was now the head of the Mage Tower.

It was no different than hitting them head-on.

He couldn’t care less about the players’ gaze.

‘Well, I’m no different.’

I didn’t know there was such a complicated situation.

The heads of the Mage Tower and Marcelo.

In the meantime, I had taken Marcelo’s line of relationship.

…It’s damn difficult. Social life… No, the life at the Mage Tower!

In addition.

It was a matter of pride as the host of the regular conference.

Even if Marcelo didn’t come forward.

Due to this guy’s pride.

I’d have to put Banglet on the podium.

While I was thinking about that.

Marcelo added.

“Also, I can’t remain indebted to Sir Hoyeol forever.”

Debt?

You’re indebted to me?

Well, I wondered if there was a credit card attached to the floating garden without my knowledge.

It was free in the first place. More than the senior mages.

I had received a lot from the Mage Tower…

It didn’t matter how much the debt I didn’t know about.

This way, I would be able to use whatever I needed without worrying about integrity.

“Don’t mind it.”

“…?”

“There is reason for everything.”

Of course, my reason was that there was a give-and-take in everything.

It was some kind of declaration of war to pull out the pillars of the Mage Tower.

Did he notice what I meant?

Marcelo was startled and said.

“…I’ll keep that in mind.”

We arrived at the portal.

Naturally, our chat ended.

From now on, secure Banglet.

I should only think of that one goal.

‘So where did you jump to, Banglet Tom?’

The answer came from Marcelo.

In an instant, magic power swayed through Marcelo’s body.

…It was a manifestation on a horrifyingly wide scale!

A vast amount of magic was spreading out in an instant.

It wasn’t magic to attack anyone.

I had goosebumps.

In that sense, I realized it again.

It was fortunate that Marcelo was on my side.

Still, I was fine with just having one person.

It took a while for me to realize it.

Marcelo pulled back his magic.

“Banglet doesn’t exist in this world.”

The moment I saw it.

Thanks to Grandfel’s talent for grasping the structure of magic.

I was able to figure out what kind of magic it was.

Yes, in that fleeting moment.

Marcelo was tracking Banglet’s position in this world, on Earth.

To be precise, he was exploring Banglet’s mana.

Interfering in the wide area of the world.

And then he manifested tracking magic.

…It was beyond my imagination.

I knew he was a monster, but I didn’t expect this.

Being able to interfere with the whole world.

How much mana does he have?

Of course, I answered without a hint of surprise.

“Then we have the answer.”

He didn’t exist in reality.

“…He got an answer? What is he saying?”

“I think this has been a waste. That’s not some kind of code!”

“Where would he be if not in this world?”

Unlike the players, I know what he meant very well.

Banglet was not in this world, nor in the Arcana continent.

The space of [『oddity』]

He was in the rupture.

*

A voice rang in Marcelo’s head.

– “Don’t mind it. There is reason for everything.”

Hoyeol’s voice.

No matter how hard he tried, Marcelo couldn’t understand.

‘How can I not care?’

Mage Tower owed the devil hunter and Akshan an unrepayable debt.

But instead of asking to repay the debt, Hoyeol said it was natural.

‘…I dare not fathom.’

How far ahead Hoyeol was looking.

Could such a past be regarded as natural?

Marcelo couldn’t help but admire him purely.

At the same time, his greed arose.

‘I want to witness that future, too.’

He didn’t know if it was possible, but…

That’s why he had to hurry.

That’s why Marcelo accompanied Hoyeol.

‘This move is clearly a handshake.’

It was a recitation for elder mages.

With unknown purpose.

The elder mages had pushed Banglet Tom out of the Mage Tower.

Banglet couldn’t have done this willingly.

The mages of the Mage Tower couldn’t leave the Mage Tower without the approval of the heads.

‘The Banglet I know is not that kind of guy.’

Yes, he was confident in his colleague.

The man whose self-esteem was extremely low compared to his ability was violating the rules of the Mage Tower?

It was unimaginable.

So he could guarantee it.

‘I’m going to strangle your neck to make this handshake.’

To do so, securing Banglet’s whereabouts was the top priority.

Above all, he needed the testimony of Banglet, the person concerned.

But Marcelo knew the elder mages very well.

‘They’ll never let him live.’

Without delay.

Marcelo manifested tracking magic.

It specified Banglet’s location.

But as expected.

‘This is planned.’

Seoul, in the world of adventurers, or Earth.

He didn’t feel Banglet’s magic.

Furthermore, as a senior mage of pure magic.

Banglet, who was famous for his delicate handling of mana.

He didn’t leave a hint of magic.

Then there was only one answer.

Banglet was in a rupture.

“Then we have the answer.”

As expected, he didn’t need to explain to Hoyeol.

But apart from that.

‘If he’s in a rupture, then the time will inevitably be delayed.’

 Rupture.

It was a space of [『oddity』] where Marcelo had just taken his first step.

Finding Banglet in that rupture?

It was impossible even with magic…

“You’re in such a place. Banglet Tom.”

…Huh?

No way, Sir Hoyeol had located him!

As he said, even for Hoyeol, it should be impossible to detect Banglet in a rupture with magic.

How the hell did Hoyeol find Banglet’s location?

Marcelo was astonished

He heard Hoyeol’s calm voice.

“We have to fight oddity with oddity.”

.

.

.

We entered the portal.

At the changing landscape.

I held back my sigh.

…I spoke very well. It was also just a bluff.

‘That’s because I just received a text message.’

How was I able to locate Banglet?

It was simple.

I got it from Nam Taemin.

To be exact, AAU’s information was delivered to me through Nam Taemin. The message was accompanied by a new update and the location of the ruptures.

‘I don’t know about anything else, but they’re quick on that one thing.’

After the cataclysm.

Human beings suffered from the ruptures.

So, naturally, locating the rupture.

They were faster at it than magic.

Well, satellites could take pictures of human faces these days. Finding a rupture was not difficult.

‘In short, it’s the power of science.’

Fight oddity with oddity…

So in a way, this wasn’t wrong.

Of course, even if I said the same thing, it was because I said it with a lot of strength.

“It’s a different manifestation from the last time you mentioned…!”

Marcelo reacted furiously.

“It’s incredible. As expected, I was a frog in a well.”

The last time must be referring to our tea time.

If you just lifted your finger.

The items you needed would arrive in front of the Mage Tower.

While preaching the greatness of rocket delivery.

I was just running another app.

Marcelo seemed to think it was a new manifestation.

I spoke brazenly.

“If you have any questions, feel free to ask.”

I was grateful that no one was listening to this.

All I had to do was to tell him how to use a smartphone.

I was just showing off. Seriously.

Of course, now was not a good time to chat.

My vision reversed.

Soon, a rupture appeared.

Marcelo spoke softly.

“That’s the space of oddity, the rupture.”

Yeah, Banglet was in that rupture.

The reason for my certainty was simple.

The new update history.

And the moment we approached the rupture.

A message popped up.

Any player could have made a guess.

*

Excluding Hoyeol.

Jessie Heinness was the only player who realized the seriousness of the situation.

The quest wasn’t important.

Banglet Tom, senior mage of the Mage Tower.

If he started to go berserk…!

“No one will be able to handle him.”

She couldn’t let the players provoke Banglet.

Jessie intended to convey the situation through the Shining.

But she didn’t have to.

“New update? What? It’s not Thursday today.”

She thought of the unexpected update.

Perhaps because this update wasn’t scheduled.

The details were straightforward and clear.

“…This is crazy. What is this?!”

But the impact was unimaginable.

──────

A new rupture, ‘Cracked Dimension Gap’ is added.

Recommended level: Lv.900

──────

“…The recommended level is 900?”

“Isn’t this an error? Is it a typo or something?”

“Y-Yes! Maybe it flipped out 9 and 6?”

Players who had yet to grasp the seriousness of the situation thought so.

However, for those who were aware of the incident at the Mage Tower, the update history couldn’t be ignored.

“Wait, isn’t what I imagined becoming reality?”

“Senior mage of the Mage Tower. That monster is in the rupture?”

“It makes sense that the recommended level is 900…”

Level 900.

A truly overwhelming number.

Even players who had promised to risk their lives on the quest had to give up.

No, it wasn’t just the players.

Guilds couldn’t take such a big risk.

If so, naturally, they started thinking.

“…Then what should we do with that rupture?”

Furthermore, if such a rupture collapsed.

What would happen?

It was then that the news broke.

“Hoyeol-ssi?”

Lee Hoyeol.

News broke out that he had appeared with Marcelo,

The chief mage of Mage Tower.

Nam Taemin could feel it.

Hoyeol was going to enter that rupture.

So he sent a text message.

“I don’t know if I can be of any help there.”

He would cooperate right away.

Nam Taemin clenched his fist.

Wasn’t this a waste of his life?

If it weren’t for Hoyeol, he would have had to die in Frost or live in a worse state than die. No, if Hoyeol hadn’t saved his older brother…

He wouldn’t have been able to live with a sound mind.

“But I’ll try to do as much as I can.”

The moment Nam Taemin solemnly got up from his seat.

Bzz–

Vibration rang out.

“?!”

…Anyway, he got a reply that reminded him of the past.

– That would be difficult.

Compared to the reply he had received back then, it only had one more line

The meaning contained was not very different from back then.

– It’s an internal matter.

“…Internal matter?”

A question mark appeared on Nam Taemin’s face.

.

.

.

This was a matter of the circumstances inside the Mage Tower.

In a way, this was a family fight.

Of course, the more reinforcements, the better.

But that wasn’t true in the current situation.

So what if the recommended level is 900?

There’s a senior mage of the Mage Tower in that rupture?

So what do you want me to do?

Next to me was Marcelo, the chief mage.

Yes, my confidence was well-grounded.

In a noble expression, it was called the fox that borrowed the tiger's might [1] .

[Cracked Dimension Gap]

[Recommended level: Lv.900]

[Rupture collapse: 4.8%]

I said, tidying up my clothes.

In a most brazen voice.

“Let’s get this over with.”

  • 1. Fox that borrowed the tiger’s might = use powerful connections to intimidate people. It’s an idiom that comes from the story of a fox who fooled a tiger.

  1. I am for sure that Banglet Tom has been possessed by a Demon. Since Banglet Tom was pressured by the Elders especially the Tower Master more so, he would have a grudge.
And as we all know from the flashbacks of the possessed people Demons take advantage of whatever negativity people feel.
