The Herrero Siblings.

Born in the eastern region of the country where twins are superstitiously considered unlucky, the first twin magical swordsmen to become transcendents together were known for their disastrous jutsu.

“Wow!!! That’s one hell of a punch! That’s a good one!”

“You have the same temper as the Duke! Lucian, do you want to duel me?!”

For a moment, Lucian was relieved to have a Transcendent to fight with. But when he realized that the Transcendents he was fighting with were the Herrero siblings, he turned white.

‘Please stop…’

Their mouths, which had been triggered from the time they prepared for the battle, didn’t stop even during the battle.

“Oh my, oh my. I thought it was just a bunch of chicks, but you guys are pretty fierce, huh?”

“Aren’t they stronger than us?”

“Let’s see. Who wants to duel me?!”

Everyone in the middle of the battle gritted their teeth at the mouths that wouldn’t shut even in the middle of a fierce battle.

Part of him wanted to yell at them to shut up, but they were too good at it, so he played it lightly and kept everyone around him from getting into trouble.

“Uh-huh! As soon as you say it’s nighttime, you make a mistake, right?”

“If it wasn’t for me, you would have already crossed the river, right?”

One of the students who had been saved by Herrero gave him a sour look as he lowered his head. He was gratefully pissed.

“Still, this is the most comfortable battle I’ve been in lately.”

Eileen muttered softly and focused on the demon in front of her. Winter was approaching, and with it, a number of horrific events that had increased the number of demons on the loose. The mood of the slaying parties, including Verotanis’s special squad, was even worse after the first Transcendent victim.

But the two of them, by their mere presence, had turned the gloom upside down.

“The last!”

“Let’s go at once!”

The giant wyvern-like creature was double-headed.

“Neat.

Eileen felt pure admiration. Not for herself, not for Cordelia, not for Lucian and Felix. None of them were weak enough to take it down.

‘No blood spilled. If we had, it would have torn the place apart.’

But it took a different level of skill to kill it perfectly without causing any damage to the surroundings.

“Voila. Heat up the sword, cut it, and you’ll have a clean cut without splattering the magical blood!”

Cordelia shook her head as she watched the two of them gesticulate as if they were cooking class instructors on a closed battlefield.

“I hate to admit it, but they’re really believable.”

“Yeah.”

Eileen nodded, glancing around. There were some weary-looking people, but no one was seriously injured or panicked.

“So this is why they call them transcendents.”

They naturally thought of the Duke. His broad back, appearing at the moment when all was lost, kept them from collapsing and gave them the courage to stand up again.

“Come on, let’s go back.”

Clapping loudly, the Herrero siblings turned on their heels. Olivia Herrero cast a telepathic spell on her brother.

“You still haven’t found Mr. Tyrn, have you?

“Not yet.”

Tyrn was the eldest of the Transcendent, an aging but by no means weak Transcendent Elder, and the disappearance of such a being made it reasonable to assume the enemy’s leader himself.

‘If Urzar is so strong, why hasn’t he taken the initiative?’

‘We don’t know everything yet, and we need to keep things as chaotic as possible.’

The two exchanged a long-overdue serious glance.

“Pee-wee, you’re not hurt, are you?”

A smirk spread across his face as he turned and ran back to the children. He was confident in his ability to lighten the mood.

“Kill…”

The dungeon was dark, lit only by the red glow of torches. Tyrn, the missing man, was chained to the wall, wounds all over his body. His thick muscles were stained black with congealed blood.

“Kill you? I can’t do that, you’re a precious bull, a hard-won prize. The feast hasn’t even begun yet.”

Across from the bloody cell, an out-of-place black leather couch sat on the other side of the room, and upon it sat Urzar, his jaw set in boredom, his eyes half-closed as he stared at Tyrn.

“Have you ever wondered,” he said, “if humans are really good?”

Tyrn wheezed, too weak to answer, and finally turned to look at Urzar. Urzar bowed slightly and lowered his head before speaking.

“You are good because you were born human, and I am evil because I was born a demon.”

“Hmph, ridiculous. Is that all you have to say for killing thousands and thousands of lives?! I’ll tell you for sure, you are evil!”

Dozens of chains, layered with spells, rattled. As he met the blood-red eyes of theld man with a meaningless gaze, Urzar let out a short sneer that resembled a sigh and sagged back onto the couch.

“Alas, such a boring answer, what is different about humans, who eat and harm countless lives to survive?”

“…What is it you want to do, Regia, why do you want to keep her alive?”

Urzar laughed bitterly at that. He let out a long, languid breath and spoke, his amusement evident in his face.

“Because she wasn’t boring like you.”

Urzar shuddered in chills as he remembered the way she’d wielded the blade, her eyes filled with anguish.

“I do not fight for the gods!”

He could still hear the words ringing in his ears.

“Look at this! This is what they call chicken flesh? It gives me goosebumps. It gives me chills. Is that the right word to use now?”

Urzar, amused, savored the goosebumps on his spine. The unpleasant feeling that came from something that was not human impersonating a human washed over Tyrn.

“You do not intend to use him to destroy the world, do you?”

“Destruction? I don’t care about that boring ending. What I want is…”

Urzar’s jubilant face stiffened as he readjusted his emotions.

“I don’t know how to put it. I just want to see her again.”

The corners of his mouth twitched up, as if he’d made up his mind. With his grotesque face stretched to the limits of his muscles, Urzar spoke in a dreamy voice.

“So, in human terms, is it love?”

“You’re a madman.”

Tyrn swallowed dryly, as did he. He tasted blood in his throat, but all thoughts were swallowed up in the presence of the human-mimicking scourge.

“Of course you’re crazy, and that was a long time ago.”

Urzar rose from his seat and slowly approached Tyrn.

“Do you know the difference between me and a parasitic creature that merely takes over a human body?”

He cupped Tyrn’s face in his hands. Tyrn was unable to resist, not even for a moment, as the power from his slender fingers was beyond his imagination.

“They can only steal your form, but I can absorb your abilities and memories and control them.”

Tyrn’s eyes widened. He opened his mouth to shout, but Urzar’s hand clamped it shut.

“How I have wasted all my magic to acquire a Transcendent. I would have preferred to use the Duke of Gaudium, but it is what it is. You will be a good scourge, old man.”

Urzar bowed his head and stepped closer to Tyrn, and when they were within a finger’s length of each other, Tyrn saw the whites of Urzar’s eyes turn black, the pupils merging with the whites.

A cosmic blackness washed over him in an instant.

“Hmph.”

As Urzar looked contentedly at Tyrn, who had dropped his head, Himes’s face suddenly emerged from the black wall.

“Yes, my lord.”

“The feast is ready, and I shall send out the invitations.”

The normally expressionless Himes grinned ferociously.

It was the beginning of a cataclysmic event for the world.

“Eileen, what is it?”

A gust of wind blew, almost a storm. Eileen felt her fingertips go numb and turned her head.

“Nothing, I just feel a little weird.”

“Chew.”

Star that had revealed itself embraced her. Feeling the ground shift slightly, Eileen knew something had begun.

That same evening.

Urzar’s declaration of war fell on the Central Shrine.
