What the hell?

Startled by Ius’ words, Sellonia quickly looked at Tan.

Tan, unfazed, accepted the situation calmly.

Sellonia wasn’t the only one who was shocked.

“What…?”

Ian, who was beside her, also looked at Tan, as if struck by lightning. Grace, who was far away, also looked astonished.

Ella, her eyes wide open at the astonishing sight, covered her mouth with both hands.

“Ah, regarding your son. So your son was the Beast of the Night?”

“Yes.”

Ius bowed his head and answered the Emperor’s question.

‘Son?’

Sellonia couldn’t believe her ears. Tan became the Grand Duke because he was the son of the Grand Duke of Hershbrook?

Was she dreaming? Otherwise, how could the Demon King be the Grand Duke’s son?

Her mind was in disarray. What was happening at the moment that she didn’t know about?

“Tan Hershbrook, greeting His Majesty the Emperor.”

Tan grinned at Sellonia, whose face was changing from pale to blue, then bowed to the Emperor.

His smile was relaxed, as if he already knew everything.

***

Dozens of minutes ago.

Tan was strolling the palace halls with Ius and Kelvin.

“The relevant documents have already been drafted and processed, so all that remains is to greet His Imperial Majesty the Emperor.”

Tan listened, annoyed by Ius’ nagging.

“Behave yourself.”

As Ius continued to mutter, Tan finally chuckled.

Ius was addressing the Emperor highly and Tan lowly now that a servant was guiding them in the Imperial Palace.

His subordinates were quite well-socialized. To a useful degree. He was now on his way to pay his respects to the Emperor, having inherited the Grand Duke’s title as per their suggestion.

He had been incredibly busy these past few days. There was much to do to secure the throne.

First, he was registered as the Grand Duke’s son, as if he were the son of a woman the unmarried Grand Duke had previously met.

He completed several formalities and filled out the succession documents.

He still had no memories. Therefore, he had no intention of returning to the Demon King’s Castle.

He had a clear task at hand.

The fastest way to do so was to utilize his subordinates, Ius and Kelvin.

For now, the present was more important than his lost memories of the past.

Beyond the forgotten past and his own identity, remaining by Sellonia’s side was his top priority.

So, all he had to do was break down the status gap she’d been talking about time and time again.

If he couldn’t reach her, he simply had to climb to the point where he could, and close the gap.

‘Because I like her.’

He simply didn’t want to give her up to anyone.

Furthermore, he couldn’t leave Sellonia because he still had so many questions unanswered.

Why, even though he was the Demon King, was he being healed by the Savior’s hands?

Sellonia seemed to know his true identity, but why didn’t the other Saviors?

There were so many things he needed to know that he couldn’t turn back.

“But how long do I have to walk?”

Tan was starting to get irritated. The palace he was going to meet the Emperor was so vast and long, it seemed endless.

His first impression upon entering the palace was that it was overwhelmingly grand, tall, spacious, and large. Unnecessarily so.

He had been in a bad mood since morning. He hadn’t seen Sellonia leave the mansion today because he was busy with paperwork.

He had to finish quickly and go to her. He didn’t know what kind of bastards might come after her while he was gone. He heard there was a celebration being held at the palace. Where was it? Tan looked around.

That was when he suddenly felt her faint aura.

He raised his head, looked around, and then, feeling frustrated, he turned a corner of the hallway and disappeared.

“Haaa…”

Ius, who had belatedly discovered Tan’s disappearance, put his hand to his throbbing head. As if he’d known this would happen.

Ius and Kelvin thought and rethought their excuses the entire way to the audience.

Meanwhile, Tan teleported around the palace.

“Damn it.”

The harsh words escaped his lips.

He moved as soon as he sensed Sellonia’s aura, yet she was nowhere to be seen.

He would have stopped anyone passing by and questioned them, but not even the knights he’d seen countless times since entering were in sight.

Did he take the wrong path?

He was about to teleport again and head up the hallway.

“What? Is that true?”

A faint voice sounded from far away.

Tan immediately walked towards the source of the voice.

“They’re attending the celebration? This will be fun. I should go and check it out.”

“Hey.”

“Kyaaaaah!”

The Princess, who had been smiling joyfully at the servant who had told her the story, screamed in shock at Tan’s sudden appearance.

“Princess, take cover behind me!”

The swift knight quickly hid the Princess behind himself.

“What is it! This is Princess Titania of the Flanagan Empire! Behave yourself!”

The knight drew his sword, threatening him.

Titania hid behind the sturdy knight and calmed her startled heart.

“Where is the celebration being held?”

“Identify yourself! Who are you?”

The knight raised his voice, aiming the tip of his sword menacingly at Tan.

Tan frowned at the knight’s intrusive actions and quickly closed the distance. Then, looking down at him with his characteristically crimson eyes, he murmured a commanding command.

“Answer.”

“Eeekh!”

The knight let out a strange noise, startled by Tan’s sudden appearance, who had come within striking distance of him.

Even the imposing, intimidating aura emanating from the massive man, whose gaze met his, made his entire body flinch.

“W-Wwhat are you doing! Why don’t you bring him down before me right now!”

Titania, unaware of this situation, angrily criticized the knight’s clumsiness.

But the knight couldn’t hear the Princess’ voice. Whatever the reason, the aura emanating from the man before him was overwhelming his entire being.

“N-Neggit Hall…”

Finally, the knight opened his mouth, legs trembling. It was simply an instinctive act of survival.

“What? Are you crazy?”

Titania, unable to bear the knight’s absurdly easy information, revealed her hidden body.

But Tan, having finished his business, had already walked past them.

“Hey! You! Won’t you stand there! Stand still! Can’t you hear me?!”

Titania’s face flushed with insult, snarled at the large figure.

Who is that rude and shameless person who doesn’t even identify himself or greet her, the Princess?

But the man shamelessly continued forward, ignoring her voice as if he couldn’t hear her.

“Hey!”

Finally, Titania couldn’t stand it anymore, so she took off her shoe and threw it at the man.

The shoe flew in a fast arc, striking the back of the man’s head…

“Huh, how…”

Titania’s mouth dropped open in surprise.

He had precisely caught the flying shoe with his hand just before it could hit the back of his head.

He didn’t even turn around, just reaching out.

Gasp…”

The knight beside her was equally astonished by the strange sight.

“Come before me with the shoe and kneel down. Then, put it on my foot yourself. Then I’ll forgive you for today.”

Titania’s surprise faded for a moment, but she raised her chin haughtily and commanded.

Tan finally turned away towards the whining voice. Titania’s shoe hung on his fingertips, as if he were catching some filthy filth.

“Yeah, come right here…!”

Titania haughtily spoke to the man, who finally revealed his face, then fell silent. No, she was speechless.

The man’s face, staring at her with indifference, as if he were an obstacle, was dazzling. Pitch-black hair. Red eyes like the blazing sun. Beneath them, sharply chiseled features.

To top it all off, a tall stature and a muscular build.

Titania’s heart pounded. Heat surged to her face, and suddenly, the whole world seemed to transform into a field of flowers.

“P-Princess, the shoes…!”

The maid next to her gasped in shock.

Tan had thrown the shoes he was holding out the window.

He then turned around, not even sparing a glance at Titania, who was staring blankly at him.

“What should I do? I think I’ve fallen in love…”

Titania muttered, her face flushed as she watched Tan’s disappearance.

Unable to notice, Tan quickly climbed the stairs and passed through the third-floor hallway.

Finally, he spotted Sellonia standing on the terrace in the distance. A smile appeared on Tan’s normally expressionless face, but it vanished abruptly.

For that guy was standing before her. He even had his hand on her shoulder.

Without hesitation, Tan leaped forward, ready to kill Ian.
