[A large number of monsters trapped in the hotel basement were pushed into the hotel.]

The monsters that came up from the basement, and the evil spirits that remained underground, made their own contracts.

—…Our territory.

—No matter what we do, it’s our… work.

—The sinners…

An evil spirit that couldn’t bear the sadness, pain, and anger and became distorted.

Their strength and appearance were on a different level from the monsters. Researchers and victims alike, they all turned into evil spirits.

The thick iron door leading to the basement closed, then the basement and the hotel were divided.

[The six humans decided to live together.]

‘If it’s six humans…’

Does it refer to the demons, including Holloway?

‘It called them humans instead of demons because they wanted to be humans?’

Or is there another meaning?

If it really was the demons including Holloway, she had no idea who that one human was.

‘Usually, the remaining person in this kind of thing is either the mastermind or controlled by the system.’

Evelin’s worries didn’t last long.

[He was abandoned by God and came to hate everything.]

[But he wanted to live quietly on the island.]

In the darkness, sentences began to appear one by one.

Albrecht Imperial Family, Marquis Hacios Family, Count Kersian Family, Viscount Akrotic Family, Count Besk Family, and…

Duke Schneider, family of the Eagle; Viscount Recxi, family of the Butterfly; and finally Rodrige, family of the Black Swan.

The Schneider Family was Cleta’s family.

‘They were involved after all.’

Evelin trembled with uncontrollable rage when she confirmed the fact.

It might not have been a coincidence that she had come to this island.

There was only one reason she couldn’t be sure.

‘There is no Moran’s family.’

There came a sentence that seemed unfinished.

Evelin’s eyebrows furrowed.

‘It’s the temple.’

That was clearly the temple’s emblem.

A mysterious mixture of flowers and feathers.

Evelin didn’t hold back her breath trying to come out.

The temple was also involved. But the current temple was prospering.

There was no way the gods didn’t know about the facts from a thousand years ago. Even the gods were shamelessly hiding this fact.

She unknowingly gnashed her teeth.

‘If I escape from here, I’ll start a mess at my house and then the temple.’

Just wait.

Regarding a divine punishment or something, she will die if it’s revealed to the demons anyway.

She wasn’t scared at all.

One thing that was puzzling was why the temple had to participate in the summoning of demons.

A thousand years ago, it would have been when the power of the gods was rampant.

‘No matter what, nothing changes.’

Even if she escaped alive, Evelin had no intention of ignoring this fact.

Even if all of this incident had a huge impact on the Empire…

Evelin didn’t want to pretend not to know as long as her family was involved.

This was natural.

Does it make sense to live while boasting that you’re just a descendant and did nothing wrong when you know about the past?

‘One should compensate for the damage and apologize. That’s the right thing to do.’

And anyone, any human who saw that past, couldn’t possibly tell the demons to just keep quiet and everything would be fine here.

‘…Really, that won’t work.’

Who could say such cruel words when the affectionate Holloway was so willing to abandon himself?

[The Emperor’s favorite concubine and her son, also the heirs of the noble families who had joined the island, realized something was wrong.]

The first emperor’s favorite concubine and a boy screaming in her arms.

[W-What should I do! Father must have failed!]

Amid the serious atmosphere, a man spoke heavily.

[My father isn’t coming back either.]

[There is a preparation for such times. Let’s all prepare.]

There were brooches with the emblems of each family near the people’s chests.

The Rodrige family was there too.

It wasn’t just the heads of the families who knew. The heirs, as well as the Emperor’s most beloved concubine, knew it and neglected it.

‘Everyone was in on it.’

Despite being of royal blood, Holloway…

He wasn’t the concubine’s child, so she wouldn’t have cared for she had to make her son the crown prince.

They knew full well how many people there were in that resort…

They were desperate to hide this failed situation.

‘They learned that the island had been struck by divine punishment. They decided to keep this a secret.’

Evelin didn’t even laugh.

The ones who should have been punished were alive and well.

The victims were trapped for a thousand years and couldn’t do anything.

‘Yet they lived well and died.’

They couldn’t even die.

That, too, the God.

Her eyes burned with injustice even though it wasn’t something that happened to her.

They say that everything on that island was thrown underground because of Holloway’s curse, but that wasn’t even enough punishment.

Holloway and these demons were still receiving that punishment even after a thousand years had passed.

[The power of the temple was taken away due to great sin. Only the pure ones remained. However, this one also became corrupted over time.]

‘What a great punishment.’

Evelin was scornful.

Blood flowed down her clenched lips.

[The island was sealed and concealed. It was decided to blame it on the sins of the mages.]

[Those who did this were recorded as having died honorably while protecting the people. They became nobles.]

‘No… bles.’

Why does that word feel so suffocating?

[As time passed, this record was also erased from history.]

All the corruption was eradicated.

To the point where no one knows about it now.

For complete secrecy.

When Evelin’s vision suddenly went blank and brightened again, everyone was gathered at one gate.

[Trying to destroy all evidence on Mars Island.]

Gates built in the temple, the Imperial Palace, and each family’s basement. Armed knights steadily entered the gate leading to Mars Island.

The knights were ordered to slaughter all the evidence and all living things inside.

The demons who were living quietly asked for help in the sudden attack, yet they all turned away.

Everything that existed in the abandoned hotel had to be destroyed.

It was to cover up everything.

Everything, including the demons.

Evelin felt sick to her stomach at the intense betrayal of her family and her disgust at humans.

‘If even Father knows about this…’

She lost the confidence to look him in the eye.

Time passed quickly. The faces of the heads of each family continued to change.

In short, the head of the family became the successor, and the successor became the head of the family, and they passed this on to their successors, trying to kill everyone who knew the secrets of the island.

Since no one came back alive, they thought someone must be on the island.

The demons were constantly threatened.

For a thousand years, all the time.

Soon the location changed.

They saw the inside of a splendid hotel and knights sent from each family.

The ones who saved the knights from being attacked by monsters were none other than the demons imprisoned in this hotel.

They looked like they were still just about to become adults, around seventeen or nineteen.

Despite hating everything, the demons saved those who came to harm them time and time again.

Yet it was in vain.

They kept killing each other by digging traps or competing to kill the demons.

Even though the demons did nothing, even though they were just quietly hiding.

They tried to erase the demons somehow.

Even though they were punished by heaven, fell into the abyss, were abandoned by God, and hated everything, they didn’t give up being human.

They refused to get blood on their hands anymore.

That was when.

A boy started to be chased by someone.

Although it was dark and hard to see, she could see a white aura from the boy.

‘What is it?’

The boy who was running away was eventually caught by someone.

Her vision became so dark that she couldn’t see even an inch ahead of her.

Thwack.

The boy’s scream was heard along with the sharp sound of flesh being cut…

Suddenly, in the dim light, she saw the boy who was horribly dead, and Holloway, Celyr, Ectenron, and two demons who were still hidden in shadows.

But she could tell.

They were all crying.

An incident where they finally lost the last bit of humanity they had barely managed to keep.

[The five demons, who lost the person they wanted to protect the most, lost their common senses.]
