My Tamed Beast Returned with a Dragon Chapter 1 - Retirement Announcement
Seoul, 2050.
“Watch your heads! Breath attack incoming in 15 seconds!”
“How many times is this crazy mutant lizard gonna fire its breath?!”
Hunters had gathered to stop a dungeon that had opened in the heart of Nohyeon-dong.
A red-haired woman hurled a spear of fire with all her might at the monster.
Kraaaaah!
But the beast soared into the air, effortlessly dodging the attack.
Then, taking a deep breath, it unleashed a massive dragon’s breath.
The dungeon’s surroundings erupted in flames, engulfing the area in scorching heat.
“Sustained injuries?”
“Who’s dumb enough to trip and get caught in that?”
“No one! Worry about yourself!”
After checking on each other’s safety in their usual banter, the hunters continued their assault.
A rain of light arrows pelted the beast, while aura-infused swords slashed through its hide.
With a mighty roar, the monster lashed out with its tail.
Whoosh!
A man nearby took a direct hit and was sent flying.
“Ouriya!”
“Han Woori, you idiot, why were you standing so close?! Hey, are you dead?”
“Urgh… Namgoong Sol, I’ll deal with you later.”
Dragging himself out of the rubble, the man stood up.
The battle raged on.
But they lacked the final blow to take the monster down.
A gray-haired woman, analyzing the beast’s attack patterns, turned to her comrades.
“Where’s Eunsae?”
“She’s on her way!”
“Is she walking here? She’s never used her own feet since the day she was born.”
“Were you looking for me?”
Kraaaong!
A resonant roar filled the air, followed by a lively voice.
Atop a massive dragon-like beast with iridescent feathers, a woman waved cheerfully.
Her long black hair, tied in a single ponytail, fluttered in the wind.
Her obsidian eyes gleamed with confidence.
“Jeez, you guys are so impatient.”
The hunters’ faces lit up.
The one they had been waiting for had finally arrived their longtime comrade and the world’s only Monster Tamer.
“Go forth, my precious ones.”
Eunsae pointed at the enemy.
At her command, the beasts standing behind her let out ferocious cries and charged at the monster, who was preparing its final strike.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Screeeeech—!
The tides turned instantly.
Unable to withstand the relentless assault, the dragon collapsed under its own massive weight.
“It’s done!”
“We did it!”
A chorus of cheers erupted all around.
After 12 hours and 30 minutes, they had finally emerged victorious.
The hunters wiped the sweat and blood from their brows.
“Oooh, Yoo Eunsae. Always making the grand entrance.”
“Why were you so late?! Were you planning to show up after we all died?”
“I was in Mexico. Sorry, sorry. I came straight here as soon as I landed, okay?”
Eunsae played along nonchalantly with her teammates’ playful jabs.
It wasn’t true frustration—they were just genuinely relieved that she had come when they needed her most.
“Being the world’s only Monster Tamer is such a hassle. People keep summoning me everywhere.”
“If you’re injured, go to Mirinae!”
“Oh, our dear healer! I got hurt here~ Can you blow on it for me?”
“Namgoong Sol, you lunatic. Can we kick Sol out of the guild already?”
With zero casualties, the team had successfully cleared an S-rank dungeon.
They briefly spoke with the waiting reporters, then headed off for a well-deserved afterparty.

[Dungeon Raid News]
Today, the Dochun Guild successfully cleared the S-rank dungeon that appeared in the Nohyeon-dong area of Seoul.
The total raid time was 12 hours and 30 minutes, with participation from Guild Leader Han Woori, Vice Guild Leader Choi Mirinae, and guild members Namgoong Sol, Seo Inchan, Kim Yuha, and lastly, Yoo Eunsae.
The dungeon boss was identified as a King Spino Gold Dragon…
⤷ As expected of Dochun. God-Dochun. Truly worthy of Korea’s No. 1 guild.
⤷ Didn’t Yoo Eunsae go to Mexico or Africa? Why is she in Korea?
⤷⤷ Heard she got the news while returning. A true patriot indeed. ^^77
⤷ Thank you for your hard work. Thanks to the Hunters, Korea is safe once again today.
⤷ Wasn’t the King Spino the same boss that wiped out a guild party in China recently? lol
⤷⤷ Yep, but it got utterly wrecked by Dochun instead. China’s pride must be in shambles. lol
⤷ Honestly, without Han Woori and Yoo Eunsae, Dochun is just a bunch of nobodies.
⤷⤷ Hey, don’t cry. Speak properly.
⤷⤷ Which guild are you from? Gold Star? Did your guild master send you? lol
A New Era of Dungeons.
It has been 10 years since “dungeons,” otherworldly spaces, first appeared in this world.
This era of upheaval changed many aspects of life—housing, laws, administration, even international relations.
But the most significant change was the emergence of Hunters—individuals who awakened supernatural abilities and became the ones to exterminate beasts.
The first three years were pure chaos. Countless people died, and entire cities were wiped out by monsters pouring out of dungeons.
Society’s rules collapsed. The infrastructure crumbled.
No government policy or safety measure could guarantee people’s lives, security, or survival in the face of such an unprecedented disaster.
But humans adapt—and they found ways to survive in this new world.
This was when Hunters, backed by corporate sponsors, began forming guilds.
One of the most powerful was the Dochun Guild, established by Korea’s leading conglomerate, Dochun Group.
Under the leadership of the third son of the Dochun family, Han Woori, the guild rose to the top in record time.
Han Woori ran the guild independently, without external interference, and successfully established it as Korea’s No. 1 guild.
He had five closest comrades—Namgoong Sol, Choi Mirinae, Seo Inchan, Kim Yuha, and Yoo Eunsae.
Together, they cleared countless dungeons that threatened Korea, becoming household names.
And Yoo Eunsae…
“Ugh.”
…was currently suffering from a hangover.
Dragging herself across the floor, she barely made it to the bathroom, a victim of last night’s drinking party.
Throwing up made her feel slightly better. Holding her throbbing head, she collapsed onto the couch.
“Who the hell drinks that much?”
Worried, her small beast companions gathered around, nuzzling against her.
Eunsae didn’t move for a while. She only regained her senses after taking a nap.
The first thing she did upon waking was pet Dodari, the beast who had carried her home.
Dodari was a dragon-type beast, boasting peacock-like dazzling feathers and golden eyes.
“Dodari, I owe you again.”
Kku-kku!
Dodari, as if telling her to go wash up, nudged her toward the bathroom.
“…Do I smell?”
Kku… Kkuuu…
Eunsae looked deflated.
As the world’s only Monster Tamer, she didn’t live in the city.
Her home was deep in the mountains of Hongcheon County, Gangwon Province, where she owned a large plot of land to accommodate her beast companions.
After showering, she went outside to feed them.
The moment she stepped out, her other beasts—Dodari, Dandelion, Jojo, Cookie, and Haneuli—came bounding toward her excitedly.
Despite their adorable names, they were actually ferocious creatures:
Dodari – a dragon beast
Dandelion – a shadow tiger
Jojjo – a great-horned frost ram
Cookie – a unicorn
Haneuli – a black-horned panther
Any normal person wouldn’t dare approach them.
But why did they have such ridiculous names?
Because Eunsae’s naming sense was that bad.
As she rocked on a chair, gazing outside, her phone dinged.
[Namgoong Sol: Yoo Eunsae, have you changed your mind yet?]
[Namgoong Sol: Just say it was the alcohol talking. We’ll pretend we never heard it.]
[Namgoong Sol: What’s our guild supposed to do without you? We’re doomed.]
[Kim Yuha: Sol, stop. Eunse must’ve thought this through.]
[Seo Inchan: Eunsaeyaㅠ_ㅠ We’re still friends, right? You’ll keep in touch, won’t you?]
[Choi Mirinae: Guys, she’s not moving to another planet. Chill. You’re making this awkward.]
[Seo Inchan: We’re just sad, okay?!]
It was the guild’s group chat.
Eunsae chuckled and typed a reply.
[Yoo Eunsae: Sorry. But let’s stay in touch. If I ever get stranded, come rescue me.]
[Kim Yuha: Why do you joke about these things so scarily?]
Eunsae set her phone down. The chat’s messages kept lighting up the screen.
Last night, she had announced her retirement.
Her teammates, who hadn’t suspected a thing, freaked out.
‘You’re joking, right?! You’re at your peak—why the hell would you retire now?!’
Han Woori was the most shocked.
‘If you retire, it’s a national—no, a global loss. You have to work until you’re an old granny!’
‘Eunsae, did something happen? Is the U.S. pulling some shady shit again?’
Eunsae wordlessly lifted her shirt.
Her teammates, who had been joking around, instantly froze.
Sol shot up from his seat, pointing a trembling finger at her.
‘T-That… What the hell?! What happened to your waist?!’
Her skin was rotting away, blackened and decayed. Anyone could see it was serious.
Mirinae immediately moved to heal her, but Eunsae stopped her.
It wouldn’t work.
This wasn’t a normal wound.
‘Remember the Thorn Dungeon we raided two years ago?’
‘Don’t tell me that wound still hasn’t healed?’
‘Why didn’t you say anything?!’
Her teammates grabbed her shoulders, shaking her.
It had happened during the Korea-China-Japan raid—a four-month battle against an SS+ dungeon in North Korea.
The dungeon boss had cursed them with its dying breath.
‘Filthy humans! Even in death, my blood shall bring you terror! My flesh shall torment you forever!’
Eunsae had borne the brunt of that curse.
She had hidden her suffering, not wanting to burden her friends.
When they finally found out, Sol and Inchan bawled their eyes out.
“…I’m sorry.”
Eunsae could already imagine the uproar when news of her retirement got out.
So she planned to fade away gradually.
“A new life begins.”
Even with her death date set, Eunsae muttered those words carefreely.
