My Tamed Beast Returned with a Dragon Chapter 0 - Prologue
A vast space surrounded by towering trees reaching for the sky.
The leaves, bathed in sunlight, cast dancing shadows, and the tail of a large squirrel flickered in and out of sight around a pile of stones.
Tall grass and wildflowers swayed like waves. Tick, tock… The faint sounds of life echoed softly.
In the center stood an enormous tree, radiating a blue hue, too grand to take in at a glance.
Gently emitting light, it was the source that sustained this world—the World Tree, Yggdrasil.
Beneath it, in a round nest, a baby slept, cooing softly. The baby had a protruding forehead, curly sky-blue hair, and soft, plump cheeks.
The baby’s tiny, clenched fists were as small as maple leaves. Tears glistened at the corners of the baby’s eyes, as if it had cried itself to sleep.
A place where no one came. A baby left alone.
“Hngg…”
Even in sleep, the baby let out a soft, sorrowful whimper.
A gentle breeze swept in from afar, tenderly stroking its tear-streaked cheeks.
Days and nights passed.
The baby cried until exhaustion, yet no one came to comfort it.
Then, suddenly, a warmth seeped through the twisted space—a presence soft and inviting.
The baby instinctively felt drawn to it.
If it followed that warmth, perhaps… it would no longer feel cold or alone.
Determined to reach that presence, the baby flailed its chubby arms and legs.
“Uuungg!”
And the moment its tiny fingers finally brushed against that warmth, a blinding light engulfed it.
In that instant, the nest was emptied.
The World Tree, realizing what had happened, spoke in distress.
[The baby is gone.]
The World Tree called upon the creatures of the forest to help search for the child.
The once silent clearing erupted into a flurry of movement.
Rustle.
Sensing an unexpected presence, the World Tree’s branches trembled.
[Belquior. The baby has disappeared.]
“A baby?”
A crack appeared in Belquior’s composed expression.
Dark eyebrows, a strong nose, a sharp jawline.
His striking features carried an unearthly beauty, sculpted with impossible perfection.
With a tall, straight posture, broad shoulders, and a presence that radiated authority, he was someone that no ordinary being could approach lightly.
His long sky-blue hair rippled gently.
Narrowing his golden eyes, he thought—
‘My child is gone.’
His chamber, once prepared as a resting place, lay empty.
No matter how far he expanded his senses, he could not detect even the faintest trace of the baby’s presence.
‘Did it die?’
No. That was impossible.
His child was special.
For a lifetime, he had searched for a mate and found none.
So, in place of a partner, he had woven his own essence with the World Tree’s power to create a child.
Thus, his offspring was born with unparalleled vitality—a being strong enough to survive, even without protection.
More importantly, he couldn’t imagine his child falling prey to some wretched creature.
If anything, it would be the one attacking out of instinct.
‘I must find them.’
His child was not only a mystical being but also a priceless elixir of power.
Long ago, ignorant humans had once sought them out.
A being that granted eternal life and boundless strength.
But humanity had never been able to contain such power—
and had met pathetic, gruesome ends for their arrogance.
If there were still fools daring to dream of such things…
‘I will grant them a death beyond imagination.’
Unfurling his wings, he took flight, chasing the remnants of his child’s presence.
The earth trembled in response to the dragon’s fury.
Trees withered, their life force drained.
Flowers and grass shriveled, leaving a trail of decay in his wake.
Startled animals fled in terror.
‘If my child still lives…’
Then no matter what, he would find them.
His golden, slit-pupiled eyes glowed with an icy determination.
