My Tamed Beast Returned with a Dragon Chapter 29 - The Baby Got Into Trouble

Author: Asternkm

The baby pouted with a sulky expression.

In an antique castle built within the forest of the World Tree, the baby was having a meal in Belquior’s lair.

Despite having a delicious-smelling meal in front of them, the baby whined.

“Nuuna’s cooking tastes better.”

“Eat it anyway.”

Belquior speared a small meatball with a fork and held it out.

A dragon hatchling that had completed its first awakening was supposed to hunt for food on its own. While in this world, Belquior had also pushed the baby into the wild.

Under their father’s watchful eye, the baby had successfully hunted a large-horned wild sheep. Using it, Belquior prepared a proper meal.

It was a consideration Belquior had never received as a child. His predecessor had left him to starve for days whenever he failed to hunt.

Cooked food? Until he learned to prepare meals himself, he had never tasted a warm dish.

His predecessor had only checked on him when he was on the verge of death—because it would have been troublesome if the heir died.

It was because of Eunsae that he had changed. Even now, he wasn’t particularly overprotective of the baby, but he at least wanted to do as much for them as Eunsae had.

The baby reluctantly brought the meatball to their mouth. Chew, chew… gulp.

“When can I see Nuuna?”

“Not yet.”

“I wanna see Nuuna! Daddy, you liar. You said we could go soon!”

Poof!

The baby dragon whimpered, flapped their wings, and flew out of the dining hall. Belquior felt a headache coming on.

Back in the bedroom, the baby huffed in frustration. They were convinced their dad had tricked them.

Life here was monotonous. They hunted for food at mealtimes, spent the remaining hours learning magic theory from Belquior, and listened to the World Tree’s interesting stories during their free time.

Sometimes, they stared blankly at the sunset sky, sniffing as they missed Eunsae.

“I’m going to Nuuna. I will.”

Determined, the baby started packing things into their subspace.

A pretty flower they had seen earlier, berries with beneficial effects, and all sorts of rare and valuable jewels found in Belquior’s lair.

Imagining Eunsae’s delighted face upon receiving these, the baby grinned. They were all for Nuuna.

Just as they were about to dash out, thud—the doorway was blocked. Belquior stood there, and the baby jumped in surprise.

“Where do you think you’re going?”

“T-To Yggdrasil…”

Belquior glanced at the window. Darkness had already settled outside.

“It’s too late. Get some sleep.”

“But I’m not sleepy yet!”

“Didn’t Eunsae say young ones need a lot of sleep?”

Oh. That was true.

Though Eunsae herself wouldn’t even remember saying that, the dragons treated it like a strict rule. The baby trudged to bed.

Buried under the blankets with only their face peeking out, the baby felt Belquior patting their belly.

“Just wait a little longer. Soon, the power granted by Yggdrasil will stabilize.”

“Mmm…”

But the baby had already made up their mind—they were going to Eunsae tonight. Though they dozed off for a bit, they snapped awake deep into the night.

The room was pitch dark. Carefully, the baby summoned a faint yellow glow of magic.

Teleporting near Yggdrasil would have the highest success rate, but if they left the castle, Belquior would notice immediately.

‘I’m going to where Nuuna is.’

The baby locked onto a set of coordinates. There was only one chance—failure meant getting caught and waiting indefinitely.

Several magic circles appeared at once. Flash!

‘Nuuna! I’m coming to see you!’

Even before their first awakening, the baby had successfully run away. With an innocent smile, they mentally bid farewell to Belquior and the World Tree. Bye, everyone! See you later.

Sensing the surge of magic, Belquior rushed into the baby’s room and pressed his fingers to his forehead.

“They actually went through with it.”

He had suspected something was off. This was the third escape.

“This is troublesome…”

The baby’s power had yet to fully settle. The authority of the World Tree was pure life force itself—it would undoubtedly affect Eunsae’s world.

Belquior tidied up the now-empty room. What was he supposed to do with this little troublemaker?

“I need to hurry.”

It was time for a long-overdue reunion.

Rumble.

Out of nowhere, thunder rumbled across the mountains of Gangwon Province.

In the sweltering heat of early summer, Eunsae had been trimming the fur of the magical beasts in the yard when she abruptly threw down the special grooming tool and stood up.

“Baby? Lord Belquior?”

She hurriedly ran to the backyard. There, perched on the mini World Tree, the baby dragon spotted Eunsae and began hopping excitedly.

[Nuuna! I’m here!]

“Baby! My baby, have you been well?”

Eunsae and the baby dragon held hands and spun in circles. The half-shaved Chocho and the magical beasts barked and pranced around them in excitement.

“Where’s Lord Belquior? Didn’t he come with you?”

[Ah, Daddy… He’s coming later.]

“Why? Did something happen?”

Seeing Eunsae’s suddenly serious expression, the baby dragon hesitated.

[Uhh. I missed Nuuna, so I came first.]

“Huh? You got permission to come, right?”

[…]

The baby dragon averted their gaze. Eunsae sighed.

“Hah, Baby. You ran away again, didn’t you?”

[B-But Daddy wouldn’t let me go! He said we’d be able to leave soon!]

“Alright, alright. I’m sure he’ll be here soon. When he arrives, we’ll say sorry together, okay?”

[…Okay.]

Eunsae comforted the sulking baby dragon. She spread a mat under the shade of a tree and spoon-fed them some yogurt.

The baby dragon nestled into Eunsae’s arms, happily munching away. Giggling, they chattered about what they had done and learned lately.

Eunsae was surprised to hear that the baby had gone hunting but marveled at how dragons were still dragons, even at a young age.

“Daddy’s here.”

Golden magic swirled near the World Tree. As the figure gradually emerged, Eunsae’s eyes sparkled with delight.

“You.”

Belquior furrowed his brow upon spotting the baby dragon snuggled in Eunsae’s arms. The baby flinched.

Eunsae quickly stepped in.

“Lord Belquior, welcome. Um… Please don’t be too harsh. Alright, Baby. Tell Daddy you’re sorry.”

[I’m sorry…]

Belquior let out a sigh. He recalled how he once said that a hatchling who obediently followed orders wasn’t truly a dragon.

His gaze fell upon Eunsae as she approached. Her striking, almost unreal beauty made Eunsae gulp.

Perhaps it was because they hadn’t seen each other in a while, or maybe her feelings had changed—either way, she felt nervous.

“Did you wait for me?”

“Yes. I was getting worried since you hadn’t come.”

“My apologies.”

Belquior’s golden eyes curved into crescent shapes. Thump. Eunsae quickly fanned her face before it could turn red.

“Has anything strange happened in this world since the baby arrived?”

“A problem? Not that I know of.”

“It would be wise to check. The baby crossed over before properly containing the World Tree’s power—there’s no doubt it has affected this world.”

The baby dragon hiccupped at the unexpected revelation. Eunsae gently patted their back.

“What kind of problem are we talking about?”

Belquior paused, considering how the power might manifest.

“The land. That’s the only clue for now.”

Belquior’s words were proven true in a completely unexpected way.

In a C-rank dungeon owned by the Hyehwa Guild in Hoengseong, Gangwon Province, D-rank and F-rank hunters who had been mining minerals were thrown into chaos by a sudden anomaly.

Kyaoo—

Krrrk, krrrk.

“W-What was that? Isn’t that the sound of beasts?”

“Wasn’t this dungeon already cleared?!”

These miners, whose livelihood depended on excavation, had slightly better physical abilities than regular people but almost no combat skills.

As they scrambled in confusion, monsters began to gather around them.

Grrrr…

“Monsters! It’s real monsters!”

“Run! Aaaah!”

A Trash-eater, commonly called a garbage mutt, crawled forward on all fours, its massive mouth wide open. Its mottled purple body was covered in patches, and its green tongue flicked out hungrily.

A D-rank hunter, carrying a dagger for self-defense, tried to attack the beast, but there were simply too many of them. Abandoning their mined minerals and supplies, people bolted toward the entrance in sheer panic.

“What the hell is happening?!”

“Help! Aaargh!”

The monsters swarmed after the fleeing miners. Screams erupted from every direction.

Dungeon Reset.

The strange phenomenon spread outward, beginning near Hongcheon, Gangwon Province, and expanding further.

“What do you mean? How could monsters suddenly appear in a cleared dungeon?”

We were completely baffled upon receiving the secretary’s report. The secretary quickly scanned the reports being transmitted to their tablet.

“It seems this isn’t just an issue with our guild’s dungeons—it’s becoming a nationwide problem. Not every dungeon is affected, but some have begun showing reset phenomena.”

“Which ones?”

“In our guild’s case, the affected dungeons are located in Jecheon and Danyang in North Chungcheong, Andong in North Gyeongsang, and Yangpyeong, Gwangju, and Icheon in Gyeonggi Province.”

We furrowed our brows deeply.

“You’ve got to be kidding. Aren’t the Andong and Yangpyeong dungeons AA-rank?”

“Yes, they are.”

“What about casualties?”

“So far, according to reports…”

As we listened to the secretary’s update, we tapped the desk anxiously. At least there hadn’t been any confirmed deaths yet—that was the only relief.

“Any idea what’s causing this?”

“We’re still investigating.”

Just then, our phone rang. Checking the caller ID, we saw it was Eunsae.

“Woori, can you talk right now?”

“Uh, Eunsae? I’m a little busy… What’s going on?”

“The breaking news on TV… Is it true? About the dungeon reset?”

“Yeah, that’s exactly what we’re dealing with right now. We don’t even know the cause yet, but we need to put together a raid team and deploy them immediately. You should come to the guild too.”

“So… I think it might be because of the baby.”

“Huh? The baby?”

We froze in place. Eunsae let out a troubled hum.

“I’ll explain everything when I get to the guild. See you soon.”
