My Tamed Beast Returned with a Dragon Chapter 30 - The Baby’s Name

Author: Asternkm

Eunsae watched the news on TV with a serious expression. The reporter spoke in an agitated tone, explaining the situation.

“Yesterday at approximately 12 PM, monsters suddenly appeared in a C-rank dungeon located in Hoengseong, Gangwon Province, attacking hunters who were mining inside. This dungeon had been fully cleared three years ago. Similar incidents have now been reported in 26 dungeons across the country. Miners working in high-rank dungeons were injured and have been transported to hospitals for treatment. Experts are calling this phenomenon a ‘Dungeon Reset,’ and concerns are rising over how much more this will spread…”

Eunsae frowned. “Is this… because of the baby?”

“It is,” Belquior answered casually. He explained that the World Tree’s power must have affected the dungeons, which were already teeming with otherworldly energies.

The baby, who had been nervously watching Eunsae, looked like they were about to cry. Seeing the small hand clinging to her clothes, Eunsae gently patted the baby’s head to reassure them.

“It’s okay. Everyone makes mistakes. What’s important is that you don’t make the same mistake twice. You’ll listen to your dad better now, right?”

“Yes…”

Eunsae then turned to Belquior.

“How long will this last?”

“It will stop once the baby’s power stabilizes. Things should settle in a few days.”

After making a quick call with Woori, Eunsae hurriedly got ready to leave. She whistled, calling her beasts to gather.

“I need to go to the guild. They’re in chaos over there, and we need to get this under control before it gets worse.”

“Nyu, Nuna! Are you leaving?”

“Yeah. I have to take care of it. It’s not that difficult.”

Determined, the baby toddled after her.

“I want to go too!”

“Huh? Why?”

The baby hesitated before mumbling, “Because it’s my fault… I want to take responsibility!”

“Where did you learn to say that? You don’t need to take responsibility. That’s what adults are for.”

Eunsae smiled warmly and handed the baby over to Belquior. The baby, now in their father’s arms, protested urgently.

“I-I want to go too!”

“Like that?”

A child barely three years old wouldn’t be much help—if anything, they’d be a burden. Plus, since the media had already shown the baby’s face before, bringing them along would attract unnecessary attention.

Poof!

[“What about like this? Now it’s fine!”]

A tiny dragon with sleek sky-blue scales flapped its wings excitedly.

“Wait, no—! I’m saying you don’t need to feel responsible for something like this! I’ll go fix it and be right back.”

[“Am I… useless? Just because I’m not as strong as Dad?”]

The baby dragon’s eyes drooped sadly. Eunsae glanced at Belquior, silently pleading for help.

After a moment of thought, he spoke.

“If you go, you’ll only slow Eunsae down.”

“Lord Belquior, that’s not the issue here!”

Eunsae tried to find a way to make the baby understand. She crouched to meet the baby dragon’s eyes and explained patiently.

“If we go outside, you’ll have to hide the fact that you can talk. No other beasts can speak.”

[“That’s okay! I can talk like this, just in Nuna’s head. Hehe!”]

Even without moving its mouth, the baby’s voice echoed in Eunsae’s mind. Is this what they call telepathy?

Impressed by the baby’s abilities, she showered them with praise.

“But I’ll be really busy watching over other people, so I might not be able to take care of you properly. Wouldn’t that make you sad?”

[“I’ll stick close to you! I have a good nose, so I can always find you no matter where you go!”]

Her attempt to dissuade the baby had failed spectacularly. She shot another desperate look at Belquior.

“Your son wants to step into the human world for the first time. Are you okay with that?”

But Belquior’s response was brutally simple.

“You made this mess. You clean it up.”

[“Okay!”]

Eunsae groaned, rubbing her temples. I just don’t understand how dragons raise their kids…

After thinking for a moment, she finally gave in.

“Ugh… Fine! Let’s debut my baby! If anyone asks, I’ll just say you’re my beast. Who’s going to argue with that?”

[“Yay! Nuuna is the best! Hehe.”]

And just like that, the baby dragon’s first outing was decided—on impulse.

Eunsae perched the baby dragon on her shoulder and climbed onto Dodari’s back. Haneuli, Dandelion, and Cookie entered specially designed cages linked by chains.

The beasts would be transported by Dodari.

“Alright, I’m heading out. Don’t worry about the baby.”

“Eunsae. Don’t overdo it.”

For a moment, Eunsae felt embarrassed about the situation—her going to work while Belquior saw her off.

“I might be back late. Make sure you eat something!”

At her signal, Dodari spread its massive wings. Koo—! With a deep cry, the beast took off into the sky.

Belquior watched them leave, his expression unreadable.

“That child never takes care of her own meals yet is oddly concerned about others’.”

He still didn’t quite understand Korea’s peculiar obsession with food.

Docheon Guild Building, Samseong-dong, Gangnam
After dropping off the beasts—except for the baby dragon—at the underground breeding facility, Eunsae headed straight to the guild leader’s office.

We had just finished a countermeasure meeting, and I ran a hand through my messy hair. Grabbing the iced Americano Eunsae had brought, I downed it like water.

“Eunsae, once we wrap this up, can you take the beasts to Andong, Gyeongbuk? It’s far, so you’re the best person for the job.”

“Got it. By the way, about what we discussed over the phone…”

“Yeah. What did you mean when you said this whole mess happened because of the baby—wait, what?”

Lifting my head, I spotted an unfamiliar creature. A small beast was nestled in Eunsae’s arms like a stuffed toy.

No, wait. I had seen it before. In a photo.

A smooth body covered in sky-blue scales. A tiny, protruding snout. Two small horns. Petite wings covered in membranes.

Eunsae beamed proudly.

“This is my baby! Cute, right?”

The baby dragon rolled its eyes nervously. Am I allowed to… talk?

“It’s fine with us. Go ahead and say hello, baby.”

[“H-hello.”]

“Whoa, it talks? Wait, are you sure it’s okay to bring it outside?”

“Yep! Lord Belquior gave permission!”

Eunsae’s bright smile was met with the baby dragon’s sparkling gaze.

Watching its tail wag excitedly, I thought, It acts more like a puppy than a dragon.

“So, what’s the deal?”

“Here’s the thing…”

Eunsae explained everything she had heard from Belquior. When she finished, I let out a relieved sigh.

“So it’s only temporary? That’s a relief. The media is making it sound like the world is ending.”

The dungeon reset phenomenon was a major issue. Since it was happening exclusively in Korea, the panic was understandable.

Guilds were scrambling to re-clear dungeons, while the Hunter Association was drowning in complaints.

Eunsae stood, still holding the baby dragon.

“So I just need to head to Andong?”

“Yeah. But… are you taking it with you?”

“Of course. The baby wants to go, so I have to take them.”

“If you suddenly show up with a new beast… Well, I guess you’ll handle it somehow. The Gyeongbuk region hunters we contacted will be waiting for you.”

“Alright, we’re off!”

[“We’re off!”]

Eunsae and the baby dragon cheerfully waved as they left.

Kwaoo—!

Just before descending, Dodari let out a long cry. Hunters and reporters waiting to raid the AA-grade dungeon in Andong looked up at the sky.

“It’s Hunter Yoo Eunsae!”

“The beasts are with her! This is my first time seeing them in person!”

Dodari landed in the open space where people had gathered in a circle. As Eunsae released the beasts from their cages, she glanced around.

Even the smallest movements triggered bursts of camera flashes.

“Hello! I’m Yoo Eunsae from Dochun Guild. Where’s the person in charge here?”

“H-here! Hunter Yoo Eunsae! I’m Choi Gahui, a B-rank hunter assigned to the Andong Dungeon from Dochun Guild. It’s an honor to meet you!”

A woman in the crowd raised her hand energetically. Though she was part of Dochun Guild, she had been dispatched to this region and had only seen Eunsae through the media. Unable to contain her excitement, she practically beamed.

Eunsae extended a hand.

“Nice to meet you, Hunter Choi Gahui. Are these the Faker Guild members who’ll be raiding with us today?”

“That’s correct. I’m Kim Jungyeol, the guild leader of Faker Guild. It’s a pleasure to meet such a famous figure in person. Hahaha!”

“I’m Lee Kimin, the vice-guild leader. Looking forward to working with you.”

Faker Guild operated mainly in the Gyeongbuk region. Dochun Guild often collaborated with local guilds to manage dungeons in different regions, maintaining a cooperative relationship while minimizing conflicts.

The reporters immediately raised their voices, bombarding her with questions.

“Hunter Yoo Eunsae! How will today’s raid be conducted?”

“What do you know about the dungeon reset phenomenon? How does Dochun Guild assess the situation?”

“Could you introduce your beasts for us?”

[N-Nuna…]

The baby dragon, facing an entirely unfamiliar situation for the first time, froze in panic.

The blinding camera flashes, the overwhelming noise, the chaotic mix of heat and bodies—it all felt like a looming threat.

Cookie, one of the beasts, licked the baby dragon, who was clinging to Eunsae’s back.

“Are you okay, baby?”

[“I’ll protect Nuna.”]

The warmth of Cookie’s touch helped the baby dragon regain its senses. It bared its tiny fangs and spread its wings wide.

The crowd gasped, their eyes widening. Then, an explosion of excitement followed.

“A-a new beast! Hunter Yoo Eunsae, did you contract a new one?”

“This is a scoop! What species is it? It looks small—will it be participating in the raid?”

“Is it a beast hatched from the egg obtained from the Chinese guild?”

“What’s its name?”

“Its… name?”

Eunsae hesitated, momentarily flustered by the flood of questions. She answered them one by one.

“First, this little one is a dragon. It has no connection to any eggs from China. As for its name…”

She locked eyes with the baby dragon. At the mention of a ‘name,’ its golden eyes sparkled like stars.

Eunsae hesitated. Can I really name the baby? What if this causes problems later?

She hadn’t even gotten Belquior’s permission.

[“Nuna.”]

The baby dragon clung tightly to the hem of her coat with its front paws.

But if it was just a temporary name… And the baby looked so hopeful…

Eunsae made up her mind. Even if Belquior scolded her later.

“Byeol.”

“This little one’s name is Byeol.”
