My Tamed Beast Returned with a Dragon Chapter 33 - I Worried for Nothing

“Did it only happen in Korea? Or did something similar happen in other countries too?”

We tilted our heads. Mirinae answered.

“Even if it did, it’s still early, so people are probably keeping quiet. Some countries are open about dungeon issues, but most are kind of secretive because it affects their national interests.”

“Hm.”

“But since this weird dungeon weather thing was reported to the international association, maybe now they’re more alert?”

Eunsae scratched her cheek and confessed the truth.

“Oh, that… Byeol did it.”

“What?! So that’s what it was? No wonder!”

Sol got really excited. The others looked surprised.

“She’s that strong even though she’s still a kid?”

“Dragons are scary. Should we be glad there are no dragons in this world? Wait, there really aren’t, right?”

“Is magic supposed to be that strong? If we just fix the skill learning issue, wizards might become super popular.”

While everyone was talking in amazement and curiosity, Inchan asked worriedly.

“Is Byeol okay even after using that much power?”

“She’s not hurt, and actually, her powers seem more stable now. The dungeon reset thing almost stopped.”

Eunsae smiled brightly.

The dungeon reset only lasted for less than a week. Because the guilds acted quickly, the number of injuries didn’t go up much after the start.

Byeol went through two more dungeons with Eunsae and returned home early with the beasts, except for Dodari.

Sol looked a bit confused.

“Still, if it was because of Byeol, she should’ve gone home earlier. Why did she stay so long?”

“Well…”

Eunsae hesitated. Sensing something was up, the friends leaned in to listen.

“What is it? Just tell us.”

“…What if Belquior gets mad that I gave the baby a name without asking?”

Her voice was really quiet, but S-rank hearing caught it anyway. Sol looked at her in disbelief and waved her hand like shooing a fly.

“Hey, just go already. Even if you leave now, it’ll be midnight when you get there.”

“I’m being serious.”

Eunsae pouted. We spoke in a kind tone to cheer her up.

“You didn’t stay away from home the whole week, right?”

“No… I was worried about the beasts at home.”

“You should’ve said something back then.”

“Yeah…”

We gently patted Eunsae’s head, which was drooping sadly. Mirinae also gave her a big hug.

“I don’t love the idea, but maybe Sol’s right this time. Running away won’t help. Just go and talk it out properly.”

“Leader, what does that even mean?”

Sol’s complaint was ignored.

“And more than anything… I just can’t imagine that person, or whatever they are, getting mad at you.”

There was something a little sad in those words. But only Mirinae and Yuha noticed.

After thinking for a moment, Eunsae stood up confidently.

“Okay. I’m going now. Let me know if anything happens!”

She quickly perked up and zoomed out of the office. Her friends stared in surprise.

Sol clicked her tongue.

“She’s definitely going because she misses Byeol.”

“Agreed.”

“Yuha, are you actually agreeing with me for once?”

“Oh wow, are you happy now~ You liked that~?”

“Hey, come to the training room.”

“You think I won’t follow if you say that?”

Sol and Yuha ran off, teasing each other. Inchan quietly slipped away after glancing at us and Mirinae.

Mirinae started cleaning the cups everyone used and spoke casually.

“Hanwoori, you’re not crying, right?”

“No.”

Woori’s face looked mixed with emotions. Mirinae straightened up.

“Good then. Eunsae finally has a family. Why are you acting like this, dude?”

“Calling the guild leader ‘dude’ though…”

Eunsae lost her whole family during a time of chaos. She lived alone ever since.

Because we were there when she was at her lowest and most hurt, we knew just how happy she was now. Happy enough to accept a strange being like a dragon.

“This must be the right thing.”

“Who knows. Maybe we’ll find out with time.”

“Can’t you at least lie and say it is?”

“Were you looking for a warm and kind answer?”

“Ugh, I forgot for a second that you’re Choi Mirinae, queen of cold logic.”

“Oh no, our leader wanted kind words~ You should’ve said so~”

“You’re starting to sound like Sol.”

They joked around to lighten the mood again.

“……”

Even though Eunsae had boldly left the guild building, she couldn’t bring herself to go into the house. She carefully hid her presence and opened the front door like a sneaky cat.

As she quickly walked past the living room, a sleepy voice came out from the dark.

“Why are you sneaking into your own house like a thief?”

“…! L-Lord B-Belquior! You’re still awake?”

Eunsae gave a nervous little laugh. She figured he might notice her, but she was still surprised that he showed up like he’d been waiting the whole time.

She reached around in the dark and turned on the living room light. Belquior was sitting on the couch with his arms crossed.

Why does he look like a mom waiting after report cards come out…?

Eunsae’s eyes darted around. Since she felt guilty, she stood quietly in front of him.

“Did you get hurt?”

“Nope. I’m tough, remember?”

His golden eyes stared at her closely, like he was checking if she was telling the truth. Every time she came back from going out, he asked the same thing.

And every time, Eunsae felt something a little special. This time was no different.

“Why so late? You sent the beasts home early.”

“Well, um… Oh! I had to report something to the guild.”

Belquior’s eyes narrowed.

“What are you hiding?”

“Um… did you hear what Byeol— I mean, the baby—said?”

“Byeol?”

He tilted his head. His long, sky-blue hair flowed like a waterfall.

Eunsae stared, completely spaced out, before snapping back to reality and stammering.

“Um, so…”

Feeling like a criminal, she explained everything from the start. Belquior listened silently until she was finished, then raised one eyebrow.

“So, you gave the baby the name ‘Byeol’?”

“Y-Yes… Wow, you’re really good at getting right to the point.”

“Eunsae.”

“Y-Yes!”

She straightened her back quickly. Belquior sighed and gently reached out to pull her hand.

“Oh.”

Her knees touched the couch. He was asking her to sit next to him.

She suddenly remembered the time he had sat her on his lap and felt shy.

‘Wait, did I think he’d do that again?’

Eunsae wanted to disappear into a hole. Just then, his calm voice spoke.

“Did the baby like the name?”

“Huh? Yes… um, the baby looked happy.”

That wasn’t the kind of question she was expecting. Eunsae was caught off guard.

Belquior waited until she had calmed down, then explained.

“Dragons’ names have ‘power.’ That’s why they aren’t given lightly.”

“I’m sorry…”

Eunsae’s mood dropped right away.

“But the name didn’t feel harmful to the baby. Maybe because it holds your ‘wish.’”

“My wish…?”

“Dragons don’t really have nicknames, so it’s hard to say, but it seems the baby took the name as your ‘gift.’”

It was hard to understand. Then Eunsae suddenly got curious.

“Then what were you called before ‘Belquior’?”

“I wasn’t.”

She had heard that before. When she asked what to call the baby, he had said, “It is not called.”

“But Belquior, your parents? Didn’t they call you something?”

“…Baby?”

“Baby…”

Eunsae bit her lip to stop laughing. She shook her shoulders, trying not to giggle. Belquior looked at her, confused.

After a while, with a red face, Eunsae looked up.

“Haa… So dragon names must have really deep meanings, right?”

“Yes. They’re tied to who we are. But why were you laughing?”

“So then your name, Belquior—wait, is it rude to ask something like that?”

“Are you ignoring my question?”

Eunsae quickly changed the subject. Belquior stared at her but let it go.

He knew he was soft when it came to her. Actually, only her.

“One day, if you see my true form, you’ll understand.”

“Wow… I’m curious. I thought Byeol looked really pretty and amazing in dragon form—how cool must you look?”

Belquior felt… a bit strange. The strongest creature in nature, feared by all.

But the woman in front of him didn’t look scared at all. Her eyes sparkled instead.

On top of that… her expression changed oddly. He couldn’t name it, but it looked a lot like ‘satisfaction.’

Belquior felt a strange mix of emotions.

“So, that’s the reason you stayed outside so long?”

“…Yes.”

“I worried for nothing. Like I’d ever be mad at you.”

‘I just can’t imagine that being getting mad at you.’

Woori’s guess had been right. Eunsae felt a sudden warmth in her heart.

She hadn’t known how happy it would feel to have someone be kind to her. As an S-rank, she was always the one others depended on. But now, she felt a little lighter.

“…Still, I’m sorry for naming the baby without asking first.”

“You’re sorry about a lot, huh.”

Belquior gently brushed her hair to the side. It was just like how Eunsae did it to the baby.

It felt different from when her friends did it. Eunsae stayed still, letting him continue.

She didn’t even realize her head was leaning toward his hand.

“‘Byeol’—does it mean a star in the night sky?”

“Yes! Since this area is high up, you can see the stars really well. And the baby’s eyes sparkle like stars whenever they look at me. I’ve always thought that. It’s also just a word I really like.”

Belquior looked at her eyes, which held so many colors, and thought: that word suits you more.

“Want to go stargazing sometime when the weather’s nice?”

“If you want to.”

“I bet the baby would love it! But they need to sleep, so maybe not, huh?”

“Even if a dragon doesn’t sleep for a day, it’s fine.”

“There you go again! But the baby should sleep…”

Belquior cut her off.

“Because sleep helps babies grow big and strong?”

“Uh, yeah. How did you know exactly?”

Eunsae giggled softly.

Belquior replied in his mind like it was nothing: Because I remember everything you say.

“So, about what happened in the dungeon…”

Now relaxed, Eunsae started chattering about her time with the baby. Belquior nodded and responded kindly.

Late into the night, their quiet voices filled the living room.
