My Tamed Beast Returned with a Dragon Chapter 34 - The Spicy Deer of K-Country

Author: Asternkm

The next day was a rare day off for Eunsae. But from early in the morning, she was bustling around.

She brought a large pot out into the yard, lit firewood, and started boiling it vigorously.

It was to prepare a nourishing meal for the beasts, who must have been worn out from continuous battles.

Premium-quality pork was being simmered thoroughly with various medicinal herbs.

Soon, the beasts, drawn by the smell, sat in a circle nearby, smacking their lips.

“Nuna~”

“Byeol, you’re awake?”

Byeol, wearing an adorable dinosaur pajama, waddled out to the porch.

Eunsae quickly ran over and picked him up.

She couldn’t resist planting kisses all over soft, squishy Byeol.

Still half-asleep, Byeol rubbed his eyes and giggled.

Belquior, who followed Byeol out, furrowed his brows at the scene unfolding in the yard.

“Such unnecessary trouble.”

“Oh, it’s okay. I’m going to take a nap with Byeol later anyway.”

Understanding perfectly that Belquior meant she should just rest instead of tiring herself out, Eunsae smiled brightly.

She placed Byeol on Jojjo’s back and continued boiling the meat.

Watching her, Belquior thought that next time, it would be better if he just took care of the monsters himself.

“Jojjo, your fluffies disappeared.”

Byeol, used to being buried in Jojjo’s white and blue fur when he was a baby, found the now closely shaved summer look unfamiliar.

Meeeeh.

Jojjo was a little shocked. Was the look so bad even though it was done for his sake? Did Byeol hate him now?

“No, I like you, Jojjo.”

Since he was a dragon, Byeol could understand beast speech. He hugged Jojjo’s neck tightly.

The gloomy Jojjo perked up right away.

Hopping high in place, Jojjo licked Byeol’s head eagerly.

“Don’t—it’s all wet now.”

Even while saying that, Byeol didn’t push Jojjo away and kept smiling brightly.

The scene looked like something out of a healing movie, so Eunsae took out her phone.

Click click click click.

“Byeol and Jojjo are just too cute…!”

“Eunsae. Are you crying?”

“I am not crying…”

With eyes shimmering with tears and a fist pressed to her mouth, she tried to hold it in.

Belquior watched her with mixed feelings. How could something like this make her so happy?

While Eunsae was distracted by them, Belquior stepped in to control the pot that was starting to boil over.

Even after Byeol’s first awakening had given him immense power, Eunsae’s beasts treated him the same.

They weren’t afraid or avoiding him—they still saw him as someone belonging to their master, Eunsae.

The only difference was perhaps that he had gone from someone to be protected to someone of equal or even higher rank.

Belquior found that curious.

The baby also seemed to have a special fondness for Eunsae’s beasts.

For a dragon to feel affection toward another species was as difficult as a one-eyed creature trying to adjust in a world of two-eyed beings.

Belquior, unaware that it came from the bonds formed during Byeol’s early years, simply thought his son was a little unusual.

“Guys, time to eat!”

Roar!

Kku-kku!

Snort.

The beasts scattered around let out excited responses.

Eunsae chopped up the fully-cooked meat into big chunks and served it in bowls made specially for them.

Even the ones who hadn’t joined in the battle were given equal portions without discrimination.

Crunch, crunch-crack.

The sound of bones being crushed was intense, but Eunsae watched the scene with satisfaction.

“You should eat something too.”

“Oh my, I forgot. Lord Belquior, are you hungry? Come inside with Byeol and—Byeol?”

While watching the beasts eat, Byeol had started drooling from the corner of his mouth.

He pointed at the pot like he was in a trance.

“Nuna, I want to eat that too.”

“Huh? I was going to make something different for you. You really want that?”

“Yes! I want to eat the same one!”

“You can’t.”

“What?!”

“Why not!”

Caught off guard by the unexpected firmness, Eunsae was startled, and Byeol bared his teeth.
Belquior calmly explained.

“It’s a rule that you hunt your own meals.”

“Oh, right.”

Byeol nodded, understanding, while Eunsae started fidgeting anxiously.

She’d heard about it before. In the world with Yggdrasil, Byeol had to go out and hunt for every meal.

Eunsae twiddled her fingers nervously.

“Ah… but here? Even if we’re surrounded by mountains, it’s still not as easy to hunt as in your original world. Besides, in our country, hunting animals randomly is illegal.”

“Must I follow human laws?”

“I’d really… appreciate it if you did…”

“…”

While the legal issue was a concern, what worried Eunsae more was Byeol’s nutrition. He was at a crucial growing age—eating only meat wouldn’t be good for him.

Seeing her glance nervously at Belquior, Byeol secretly sent him a telepathic message.

[Daddy, just do what Nuna says.]

[..…]

[If Nuna gets sad because of you, I’ll be mad at you forever.]

To be honest, being threatened by a baby wasn’t all that scary. But seeing Eunsae sad? That, Belquior didn’t quite like.

Reluctantly, Belquior spoke.

“Hunting for survival is an essential skill to practice.”

“Yes… I know. I understand.”

“Then, hunt and let it go.”

“Huh?”

Eunsae looked up, confused.

“I’ll cook the meals if you bring the ingredients. Is that acceptable?”

“Th-thank you! Byeol, great news!”

“Yeah, Nuna! I’m gonna go get lots of exercise!”

Byeol and Eunsae hugged each other happily.

Belquior wasn’t thrilled. He was the one who gave permission—why were they celebrating without him?

He grabbed the back of Byeol’s neck and lifted him up. Dangling in the air, the baby waved his arms.

“I’ll be back soon!”

“Take care, Byeol! Be careful and don’t get hurt.”

“We won’t be long.”

“Have a safe trip, Lord Belquior!”

Eunsae kept waving until they were out of sight.

“Ah! Byeol went out in his pajamas again. I need to start dressing him properly before sending him off next time.”

Meanwhile, Byeol, now out hunting, quietly took off the clothes Eunsae had dressed him in.

Belquior looked puzzled as Byeol stood there in the nude.

“Why are you taking your clothes off?”

“So they don’t get dirty.”

“Why?”

“Because Nuna bought them for me.”

Belquior didn’t understand Byeol, who treasured that mere piece of cloth. But every dragon had something they were obsessed with.

One had a hobby of collecting animal fossils. Another drank only morning dew gathered on flower petals.

For reference, the former was Montella, the Dragon of Abundance, and the latter was Archaia, the Dragon of Oracle.

Yellow forsythia-colored magic rose into the air. In the form of a baby dragon, Byeol sniffed the ground, tracking signs of animals.

[Grrr……]

His pupils thinned like a reptile’s. A soft but definite predator’s growl.

And sharp teeth jutted out. It was a combative look rarely seen when he was with Eunsae.

The baby dragon flew toward the direction of the deer. Byeol, who had briefly hidden in the bushes, pictured in his mind how to hunt the deer.

He had to let it go after catching it—not eat it. So he had to catch it without hurting it. That made things just a little harder.

The rule when hunting food was to use only physical strength, no magic. That way, he could gain real combat experience and learn how to control his body.

[……Ouch!]

The baby dragon snuck up to the deer but got kicked by its hind legs. His small body rolled across the grass.

Aaaaeeeh!

The timid deer let out a death scream (Lv.10). The baby dragon, hit with the full spicy force of a K-country deer, blanked out for a moment.

The deer started to run. The baby dragon flapped his wings with all he might not to lose it.

[Nooo! Nuna is waiting! If I catch you, Nuna will make something tasty!]

Belquior was the one who was supposed to cook. But in Byeol’s mind, that fact was totally twisted.

Even if Belquior did the cooking later, Byeol would remember it as something Eunsae made. Because that made him happier.

Aaaaeeeh! Aaaaahk!

Despite its gentle appearance, the deer was no pushover. Madness filled the eyes of the animal that realized it had become the target.

Byeol got a little creeped out.

Thwack!

“Ow!”

The deer tried a flying kick. On top of that, its constant, ear-splitting cries were practically eardrum-destroying.

[Sigh, it doesn’t even seem that strong though.]

Byeol plugged his ears. The water deer was such a strange animal. It was nothing like the easy hunt he’d expected.

Above all, that screaming.

Aaaaahk! Aack!

[…….]

A creepy sound that grated on the nerves. Byeol thought, There really are all kinds of animals in Eunsae’s world.

In any case, he had chosen it, so he had to see it through. Byeol focused his attacks on the deer’s legs.

Not because of the earlier kick, but because the legs looked like a weak point—long and thin compared to its body.

After a relentless chase by the baby dragon, the deer finally surrendered. The result had been inevitable.

Out of stamina, the deer slumped down and licked its injured leg. At times like this, it looked so gentle—it was such an ironic creature.

Belquior healed the deer and gave Byeol some feedback based on what he had observed.

“When facing a beast or animal for the first time, you must clearly identify its weak points. Don’t get cocky and let your guard down.”

“Okaaay……”

Byeol felt embarrassed for getting kicked after approaching something that looked weak. And it had even tried a flying kick!

Since it was a mistake everyone made when they were little, Belquior didn’t scold him further.

“Next time, try to be a bit smarter. Using traps or tools can help too.”

“Okay!”

Belquior gauged the height of the sun.

“Good job. Let’s head back.”

Byeol started putting on his dinosaur pajamas again. While putting his foot in, he nearly tripped, but Belquior caught him with amazing agility.

“Dad, it got dirty……”

There was dirt near his shin. It was precious—Nuna gave it to him to wear……

The wave of sadness made Byeol pout.

“We can use magic.”

“Daddy, do it for me.”

Belquior willingly granted the request. Golden magic swirled around Byeol’s body, and his pajamas became fresh and fluffy as if just washed.

Byeol looked very pleased.

Held in Belquior’s arms, Byeol returned to Eunsae’s house. Eunsae, who had come out to the front gate, spotted the two.

She raised both arms high.

“Byeol! Lord Belquior!”

“Nuna! I caught the one that goes ack ack!”

“A deer? That deer’s really fast—you caught it? I’m proud of you, Byeol!”

“Hehe.”

Eunsae showered Byeol with praise. Byeol felt so happy, it was like he could float.

Smiling brightly, Eunsae looked back at Belquior. His gaze stayed fixed on her face.

“Come eat! I’ve got all the ingredients ready.”
